Very cozy n contemporary both inside n outside, plenty of cozy places to lounge whether by an outdoor fireplace or an outdoor stage for entertainment. Learned that Red Dunn got it's name from a famous cock fight that occurred illegally on this premise in the days gone by, so don't take it out on the new owners. Located next to very innovatively remodeled hotel that once was a Holiday Inn. The hotel n restaurant both have a very revived look n seems very symbolic of Detroit's revival. The owners should be commended for their bold endeavor. Now for the food n service, they were both excellent. The server was politely attentive n gave us the interesting history I just mentioned above.

The atmosphere is interesting and offers plenty of seating inside and out. The service was fast and helpful. We ordered the steak, beer salad and fried chicken and each item exceeded expectation. The beet salad is amazing with the salmon add on and very filling. The fried chicken was flavourful and tender. I did not try the steak dish but was told it was delicious. As an app we ordered the Bangkok Brussels which were a huge crowd pleaser, definitely a must try.

We met friends here for drinks. While we didn't have an opportunity to eat this time, I'm still giving it 5 stars for design, service, and atmosphere! The drinks were great, and the servers were friendly and efficient. It's a gorgeous place and we took our cocktails out to the hotel's fire pit area which was so cool! Will definitely be back soon for dinner. The food looked fabulous.

This is a diamond in the rough. They have such amazing food and unique menu that you won't find anywhere else. The chef came out and talked to us about the menu, gave us recommendations, and was very passionate about what they have to offer. Definitely will be back and recommend it. I had the Quail a la chasseur (chef recommended) and it was delicious. My friend had the Venison Bolo, it was great too and they loved it. There aren't many places like this around, we will be back soon!

My wife & I found this restaurant via the Google girl suggestion after we attended Thanksgiving Day Holy Mass at St. Anne de Detroit (2nd oldest continuous running Catholic church in USA)...Abbey; our waitress attended to our dining needs in a courteous & professional manner....NOTE: when she says," do you want to share that selection"; Raspberry / Almond milk Pancakes...just say yes...because they are HUGE (see pics). My wife had the Blueberry French Toast that seem to just melt in your mouth...we shared the (Real) Hash Browns & 3-pc Rasher of thick Bacon accompanied by bottomless rich tasting coffee.

A great find with creative menu and good Happy Hour cocktails. We had the delicious roasted squash salad with smoked pulled chicken, wild rice, goat cheese, and cranberry vinaigrette and the bacon wrapped duck with smoked apples, spiced squash puree, roasted brocollini, duck rind crumble, and pomegranate syrup. The green eggs and ham appetizer was a perfect starter. I'm not a big dessert fan, but the hazelnut crumb cake, pumpkin mousse, cranberry coulis, brown butter anglaise, candied pecans was out of this world. My husband had the donuts with butterscotch glaze with gianduja banana chocolate smoothie. Shane and Dustin took great care of us. I can't wait to go back for la ultima palambra cocktail.

I don't usually like to complain about food or restaurants, but I have had SEVERAL bad experiences at Red Dunn. The first time I came, I ordered the mushroom and goat cheese toast -- and the eggs came well-done, even though I asked for over easy. I asked them to remake it - and they did.. It was a cross between well-done and over easy. I decided to give them another chance, since the food was good otherwise. The second time I came, I ordered the Smoked Salmon Benedict. Again, the eggs were well-done... I gave up and just ate them like this -- since I was starving and didn't feel like waiting on a new order. For my fiance's birthday, his family wanted to give Red Dunn a THIRD chance. We ordered several things, including the mushroom and goat cheese toast and the hash. We told the waitress to make sure our eggs were OVER EASY and not well done. SURPRISE SURPRISE!! The eggs ALL came well-done (and my toast was burnt). We told the waitress, who took them back and when our eggs came back out, they were well-done...AGAIN. The manager came over and comped our meal, but how frustrating is this? It's NOT that difficult to make over-easy eggs. The sad part is, the ideas behind the food are great. The spices are delicious -- but seriously guys. If you're going to serve brunch, then get your eggs right.

Very friendly service! The Bison burger was fabulous as was their parmesan string fries that came with it! The chef came over and chatted along with recommendations and up coming changes to the menu that sounded promising!

We had a couple drinks. Didn't eat. It was fun enough for a small hotel bar. We were not staying at the hotel. We were visiting.
