Love this bar! It's surprisingly great food for such a small little dive in Detroit. Historic building for sure (just use the restroom, and you'll see the ceilings are so low 😂). Turned on some tunes with the AMI jukebox, had some drinks, and ate some great food. All on Easter Sunday. Will definitely come back sometime when seeing a show over at Saint Andrew's Hall.

I ordered the Rindleisch Rouladen. Amber was very kind, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. She helped me decide what to eat. The food was great! The chef did a great job preparing my grub. Thank you guys for the amazing lunch! I will be back to try some of those other tempting meals.

Nice German bar, all kinds of beer on tap. One of my local favorite spots to have a beer at.

This is a fine establishment. I would recommend this place to any friend. They have a small but good menu. Lots of German beer options. I believe 15 beers on tap. I recommend getting the German meat balls. I also recommend getting a Chimay even thow it's a Belgium beer

The fried pickles and schnitzel was great. And the woman working there was very pleasant, nice, attentive, and very pretty. Really enjoyed the place.

With 3 restaurants being full/closed, we found this place. Nice homey and relaxing place. It has two long tables along with individual tables as well. Food was good and the staff were friendly.

One of the oldest bars in the city. It's just a cool dive bar but don't let that put you off: incredibly friendly owners and staff who really care, lots of great beers on tap, and a unique old bar that oozes character. I had the Cobb Salad ... wow, see pic. Everything was fresh, and the owner told me they source the food locally from the market every few days, I could tell. Such a large and fresh tasting salad. Served with a smile. I will be back 100%. Thanks guys for making me welcome (I was on my own).

I was recommended to check this spot out from a local. At first they said it was a sports bar, but upon arrival we learned that it was in fact a biergarten and not just any, this spot is one the oldest bars in the city of Detroit as its been in service since 1904. The atmosphere was very cozy and it was not very busy for the time we showed up, which was a little after 23:00. The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable about the beers and ciders. I ordered the Rindfleisch Rouladen, which the server recommended, and I throughly enjoyed it. We had a great time here and I would definitely bring more friends here for cozy bar vibes.

A great bar with some delicious authentic German food! Their drink menu is longer then there food menu, so you're nearly guaranteed to find something you'll like. Nice atmosphere, definitely feels like a modern bar. So if you prefer a quieter dinner music then this isn't for you.

First time here. We got two Reuben sandwiches and the sandwiches deserve a 4. One came with fries and one with chips. The fries were good but the chips were not seasoned well. The pretzels were disappointing and the cheese tasted like a fake one. Additional note: There is a parking attached to the restaurant and it has a big sign by the entrance saying “Jacoby’s restaurant’s parking” but when we parked some guy came asking for the parking fee! So be aware. My suggestion is to take the sign off, because if there is a sign that indicates this is the restaurant’s parking then it shouldn’t have an additional cost!

Cozy German bar with great beer and solid pretzels (can’t speak for the rest of the food but it want to try it all). My father in law enjoyed some kino while we all threw back a couple cold ones. I had the Schneider Weiss Original and it was very good! Also, music was on point. Barenaked Ladies, Blind Melon, Linkin Park… my millennial soul was so happy.

Let me start out by saying the service was great. The atmosphere is pretty good too. I can't pronounce the meal I had but it ended in roulade. It was essentially a flavorless beef dish wrapped around a pickle. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't good either. I also had the pretzels and cheese dip and the fried pickles. The fried pickles were delicious. The pretzels were decent. They were a little greasy but had good flavor. The cheese was clearly from a can. I still enjoyed the combination though. My wife had the Reuben and absolutely loved it. Her cousin had the German meatballs. Those were also pretty good. I would come again. I'd just probably try something different than what I had.

What an odd place to find such an amazing meal. Schnitzel was cooked to perfection. Potatoe pancakes = my new happy place. Guiness on tap. Great bartender. Highly recommend.

Old world German charm with authentic German menu including the crisp delicious schnitzel, potato pancakes with the requisite sour cream and applesauce and tart and tangy sauerkraut. The selection of beers seems endless. Service was above average. My only suggestion would be to eliminate the loud metal music that played off and on, imo not conducive to a relaxing dinner experience.

Stopped by and had a Rueben and the pretzels with the beer cheese. The Rueben was very good but not the best I’ve had in the city. Quality of meat in the sandwich was good but I’m pretty sure they are using processed Swiss cheese and not real cheese. The bread was toasted perfectly though. The French fries on the side of my sandwich were super tasty and crispy on the outside but fluffy in the middle. The house made chips were meh. Good texture but too lite on the seasoning. This leads us to the pretzels and beer cheese. I was really looking forward to this appetizer but sadly it was not good. The pretzels were too greasy and the cheese was clearly not made with real cheese or even a decent beer. Major disappointment.

Great food, super fast service! A true Detroit icon!! We truly enjoyed our visit - it was a nice walk from our hotel and a perfect start to our trip back "home" to the D! We definitely will return on our next visit to Detroit!

First time visitors to Jacoby’s here. The food was delicious and service exceptional. We highly recommend this spot for those who like German cuisine. My husband had the Rouladen and couldn’t stop talking about it. Best, Stephanie and Scott Ojai, CA

Calling the sausages sausages denies that the way they are cooked makes them into something absolutely unique and amazing. Best bratwurst I ever had. Incomparable. First weisswurst. Never heard of it before. Amazing. The sauerkraut that I make at home is better but this place overall was fantastic!!🤎💙🧡

The schnitzel was amazing, good selection of German beers. It would be 5stars but my friend ordered the Rouladen, and it was not good. I lived in Germany for 4years and had it a bunch, this was not it. Everything else though was really good.

Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Started with pretzels. You get 3 pretzels! Ordered the Lemon Caper Chicken. That was delicious. Good beer and food. Nice place to stop with friends.

Decent place. Interesting bar because of the age. Thier main appeal is the traditional German food and beer. Average . Not a must see in me book

Reuben was spectacular, meatballs mediocre and Schnitzel a disappointment. Spatzle was cold upon arrival. Details on 1 order were incorrect.

Nice German pub, good food though the pretzels seem to have changed from their infamous home made giant pretzels with house made beer cheese. Instead it was freezer soft pretzel and liquid velvetta. I wish they go back to the original soon. The boyfriend loved his mixed sausage meal. Worth the visit and ill come again.

Fantastic food, good beer selection (including German Bier), a full bar, and a cool atmosphere. Friendly, helpful staff. Our server was excellent! Loved the whole experience and will return. Very impressed with the pretzels appetizer -- The pretzels *must* be homemade! They're delectable. 😍 The beer cheese was alright, but I'm really in it for the pretzels, haha. 😁 My friend enjoyed the Impossible Burger and fries. I ordered Schnitzel (Pork, Jager) which comes with potato pancakes (with a little cups of apple sauce and sour cream you can put on top), and cabbage. The Schnitzel was absolutely delicious. Good pork, good texture, good breading. Honestly, the best Schnitzel I've had since visiting Germany four years ago. I was also impressed with the potato pancakes -- Very tasty; soft and creamy on the inside and the perfect slight crunch to the outside. My friend and I had one drink each, one entree each, and we split an appetizer, and the bill was less than $60. 👍 An excellent dinner all around. Prost!

Schnitzel Pork - Lunch Taste is FANTASTIC! I am amazed at how good this small pub has a great menu. Presentation food is plated well and not overcrowded. Service was great. Cleanliness is above average. Menu items were impressive. Location is a bit intimidating. Overall would definitely eat here again. A must try if in the area.

Had a great time. The staff was great, food was great. Enjoyed the history of the place and the food. They took care of us even if we we're Royals fans in for the game. Recommend the schnitzel and the pretzels.

Only reason for 3 stars is cause place was pretty full.on a Mon at 4pm. About 20 patrons. But only 1 employee. Not her fault, she said there was another person but I never saw anyone else. Great authentic German food. Ordered a bratwurst sausage dinner. Came with 2 Potato cakes, sourkraut. And another waitress/ bartender showed up. Both these women were awesome. I actually changed from 3 stars to 5 after being here.
