The food was so good, and there are plenty of vegan options! I got the banana walnut pancakes, and my bf got the vegan breakfast sandwich. Both were delicious. They also have outdoor seating, which I really love since it was beautiful out, and I like to go out to eat with my friend who has a dog, so we'll definitely be back! I also got their dirty chai with breakfast, which was sooo tasty. It's one of my favorites I've had. I went ahead and ordered dinner to go for later since I'll be out and about and am excited to try more of their options!

Brunch at the Brooklyn Street Local In CorkTown Detroit. I had the egg benedict with potatoes and mini carrot cakes, it really hit the spot. Great place for breakfast/brunch, been there many times and their dishes always amaze! Has a hipster vibe to it, which makes it very unique! If you haven’t been there, this needs to be your next brunch spot. Price: $$ Service: Great Overall Review: Love the food, they always have daily specials and a good menu selection

The mushroom po’boy was what dreams are made of! I want the recipe, they packed so much delicious flavor into their mushrooms. Also, the pickles on this sandwich were delicious. I could eat this weekly, if we lived closer. As vegans, it was great to have multiple options to choose from on their menu. The staff was kind and made sure we had plenty of coffee and water! Easy ordering system using the QR code for your table.

Arrived around 1:00 Saturday afternoon, good crowd but seated right away - table for 1. New model is great - scan menu, system knows your table, place order and wait. Endless coffee and water comes right away, servers are friendly and the food is really good. The omelette with mushrooms and sauteed onions - really good. Breakfast serving was perfect with two slices of toast and I chose french fries. Clean, fresh food - great presentation and good price. Looking forward to next Saturday. ;-)

This was a very relaxed and comfortable cozy spot. The Kale salad and Mocha Latte hit the spot for a mid day meal. And the staff was super friendly 👍🏽

Probably not the best person to review. I'm not fan of the hipster scene, impersonal service and "creative" small plate dishes. You scan the menu using a QR code, order online and different people bring your food. You have to get refills yourself at the counter. The place is really small and outdated. I suppose this is much of the charm...we waited over hour to eat. The food was ok, but I was quite disappointed in my order. I ordered the quiche. The pic on the menu showed a whole pie, I assumed it was a smaller...personal pie, kinda like a Shepard pie when you order at a restaurant. What I got...for $12...was a single, small slice. I left hungary.Hungary. Oh, and there is no kids menu...disappointed greatly.

We've been vegan for seven years and this was a decent choice. We got the mushroom po boy and the mushrooms were hard to eat because they were pretty tough still so we ended up frying it more at home and it ended up very good. Hopefully this was just a one time thing, don't be afraid to fry mushrooms a decent amount! The spicy tofu sandwich also needed some more cook time but the gochujang sauce was awesome! Super flavorful and a nice kick. There was still about 30-35 percent of bread left after I ate the tofu, so more would've been nice. Staff was polite and helpful. Definitely willing to come back to try some pancakes and more. Appreciate the options!

Absolutely delicious! Well worth the money. A nice mix of vegan/vegetarian and non vegan foods available. Breakfast never tasted so good, I really recommend the eggs, so light and fluffy.

Came from over the river for a nice brunch date and we were not disappointed. Looking at previous reviews, perhaps we got lucky, but we both loved our dishes (one of us is vegan and one vegetarian) and it was more than enough to ensure our return. Good coffee too. After the $ conversion the cost was about the same as in Windsor, but portions were much more generous. As someone who likes to EAT, I appreciated not being served three twigs and a sprig of grass and being expected to be happy there was a vegan option. Keep it up, we'll be back!

First time husband and I tried this place. I got the hangover meal which includes handcut fries in mushroom sauce, peameal bacon which is bacon in cornmeal and eggs. Now I can say I prefer american breakfast over canadian breakfast. Husband got the poutine meal with beef sauce and pork belly. His is more delicious. But he mentioned too much french fries in the morning. Nice ambience though, we would have eaten outside but tables were full. Staff is friendly also. It was a Saturday so most were rushed and busy but not rude so it's all right. Price is decent. Coffee was fine too.

My takeout experience was different from my dine in experience the day before. Customer service still excellent. I ordered the same food but it was lack luster for the Oystermushroom poyboy and fries. Maybe a different cook different shift different day idk? I was disappointed the bread Changed on the sandwich it wasn't precut like before the flavor on the fries had no salt. My sons order of fries was missing the vegan cheese. The Oystermushrooms didn't have all the seasoned golden cornmeal batter like it did the previous day when we dined in. Did the rush the Quality because they had a wait that day? I recommend dining 🍽 in by reservation for the best possible experience.

Stopped here for a quick bite to eat before a day exploring and so happy that we did! I'd never heard of the restaurant before it popped up on a google search. The food was great! My husband got a lavendar old fashioned and said it was the smoothest old fashioned he's ever had. Kudos! My salad was fresh and my husbands burger was so well prepared. Will definitely be back!

Mom and Pop vibes, great service and amazing food! Had birthday Brunch and the Breakfast Hangover (Poutine, over easy eggs, bacon and sour dough toast with delicious strawberry jam) with a side of Vegan banana pancakes minus walnuts….with Mimosas were a HIT!

This was our first time here! We loved the food so much! There is no place for us to get vegetarian poutine, but Brooklyn Local has it and it was delicious. We also ordered the oyster mushroom sandwich which was tasty as well. Large portion sizes, friendly staff, and easy to order. We will definitely be back.

It's a really tight space so getting in on a Sunday at brunch was a long wait, but very worth it. Both times I got the vegan poutine and mushroom po'boy and I dream about this sandwich! Would really recommend if you're a fan of rye bread and pickles. My friends got the pancakes and the croquet monsieur and both really enjoyed their food.

Very hip spot for breakfast. The quiches are very high quality and flavorful. Bacon and sausage are also very good. Service was spot on. Coffee was a bit on the weak side for me. Would definitely come back.

Great unique brunch options and reasonably priced. I thought about getting the trout benny the first 2 times I have gone, bud didn't. Well, I did the 3rd time and completely regret my decision the first 2 times, it was amazing!

Located in Corktown, Brooklyn Street Local is toward the old end of Corktown which is closest to downtown Detroit. I call it old because it’s the less developed portion and you wouldn’t really walk from the train station area this far down Michigan Ave with all the new places opening up. Expectations were high for this place but maybe it was the 100° heat index but the service started off rocky but did get better once I started a conversation with the servers. It can always be a little frustrating waiting 10+ minutes to even get acknowledged during lunch which people don’t have very long time and aren’t sure how long food will take. But once this portion of the visit was over things were a lot better.

First time there. The food was AMAZING! My only concern was my server. I always pack my patience but after she took our order, we didn't see her again. She never checked on us, offered refills or even took our empty plates away. Another server came and checked on us, took our plates and got us the check

Awesome food, above and beyond service. Cute little details like random coffee mugs and proper tea pots make this spot memorable. Authentic poutine and all of their brunch food is too notch. We come here every time we're in town and you should too!

This restaurant has a special place in my heart. It has been in Corktown for over 12 years and I used to come here all the time with friends because it was the only breakfast spot with veggie options around. Still amazing but they service alcohol now. I was pleasantly surprised to see their menu hasn’t changed much which is a good thing because it was always a creative and tasty menu. AND they support other local Detroit businesses and farms. ☀️🍳🥗

Such a gem you are Brooklyn Street! Love so many things about you but most of all the veggie burger and eggs Benedict are my favorites. I heard the owner interviewed today on WDET and the she was so lovely and gracious. Can't wait to get a take out and will continue to support you as much as possible!

Came here for a Sunday brunch, keep in mind the weekend menu is different. I didn't keep this in mind and was disappointed I wouldn't get to try their vegan burger, but life goes on. There was around half an hour wait, as I expected. The place is pretty small so makes sense. Our order was taken quickly and the food was delivered quickly as well. The pancakes were perfection. Light, airy, delicious! However, for the vegan "Hangover Special" I do have a suggestion, and that is to possibly include more veggies. It was a lot of protein/carbs. But I didn't get hungry until like 6 plus hours later, so that's a pro. Overall, a nice experience, and I would like to come back and try the vegan burger :)

It was a really nice and chilled spot to eat. I had the banana walnut pancakes and those were pretty soft and fluffy. The day break muffin was also pretty good as! My sister said that the veggie burger was full of flavor! No complaints and definitely worth another visit.

Really lovely food here. Probably one of the best places in Detroit. Everything is cooled just right. The crispy chicken sandwich is crispy with soft and juicy chicken. The breakfest sandwich is simple and tasty. The pancakes are wonderful and not violently starchy.

I came here for the first time and i ordered the vegan poutine and it was phenomenal! I also got the seitan rueben which was a bit disappointing, they don’t put a lot of sauce on it and the seitan is sliced too thick in my opinion.

We had brunch at this restaurant on Sat 11/7. Firstly, I was to say that I have never written a bad review of a restaurant before now. Secondly, I want to say that the food was very tasty, especially my poutine. I would probably rate them four stars based on the food/drinks alone, because it was very good, but I feel there is some room for improvement. Our overall experience was definitely a one star affair though and I have no intention of going back. When we arrived, we stepped inside to inquire about whether or not we may seat ourselves at an empty table out on their patio. They cheerfully told us to go right ahead and instructed us to place our order online, which we did. We received absolutely no communication or anything from anyone until our drinks(coffee, lattes and water) arrived no less than 30 minutes after we ordered them. The food came at around the 45 minute mark, and our order was incomplete. The young lady rushed off so quickly(stating that she was going to grab the last of our missing food) that we didn't have time to ask for refills on our drinks, some jam for my toast or to let her know that we didn't have any silverware. I had hoped to save her another trip by asking her to get everything we needed at once. Oh well, I thought, they didn't seem particularly busy and as a server she should have anticipated that we would need more to drink since our cups were clearly empty. And, when I was a server for a number of years, I would never set food down in front of someone who didn't have silverware to eat it with...If she must make another trip, I won't feel guilty about it. In fact, I was thinking that she probably HAD noticed that we were in need and wanted to rush off to meet those needs, right? Logical. We had paid in advance for our food and left a solid 30+% tip. After five minutes of waiting and our food getting cold, I had to go inside and ask for silverware and jam and for our remaining item. I also asked for our coffee and water to be refilled, but that never happened. Our last menu item never arrived either(we had ordered a number of things to share family style as we typically do when checking out a new place), and we just made do without it. Poutine is known for being very salty, with theirs being no exception, and it was a bummer not having anything to drink while I was enjoying it. Just before we left, we stepped inside to ask about that remaining item and it had apparently been sitting under the warmer all this time....they casually bagged it up for us. No apologies for the poor service, no offer to refund our money or give us a gift card or something for next time even. There are so many great brunch spots in Detroit, if you're looking to spend some quality time together, treating yourselves to a nice brunch, and spend $70 while you're at it...spend it somewhere else.

Amazing food! Didn’t know they were on Grubhub! Had a piece of my friends walnut pancake, if it had whip cream on the pancakes, would of been 10/10, still my food was worth the trip.

Our first time here and it was amazing! The wait was 45 minutes and well worth it. They even served coffee outside while you wait. We ordered the French Toast special and Eggs Benedict and they were out of this world with flavor! The pictures tell the tale! Super friendly staff and the menu selection was large. Vegan and vegetarian friendly.

You could argue this is the best place to get breakfast in the city. Everything on the menu is delicious but it gets busy FAST on weekends. If you are planning to go, I suggest going early!

  • 4/5 bananasofcourse 3 years ago on Google
The kale caesar salad was great. The dressing was on point. The added "bacon" tempeh was completely incomparable to bacon, and I don't know why they would refer to it as "bacon" tempeh. My friend liked her omelette sans the pork; she didn't like the way it was cooked.

  • 4/5 Eileen H. 6 years ago on Google
Food and service was good. Worth stopping if you're in the area. They have plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. If you have a group (6/+) though, it's a smaller restaurant so seating may be challenging. Music was also loud so conversations are difficult in large groups.

I have never tried Brooklyn Street before today, but I wanted to give it a shot and the food was absolutely fantastic! It was probably the best carry out I have had during COVID, and I have had my fair share of carry out! We had a 20 minute drive home and the food was still fresh and warm when we got home. I ordered the spicy tofu sandwich with vegan potine and a chai latte and it was all incredible. The sandwich was packed with flavor and the tofu was beautifully breaded and prepared. The poutine gave me the same joy that the non-vegan alternative does - “cheesy,” savory and flavorful with the fries still crispy. The chai was warming and extra cinnamon-y! Their curbside pickup was super easy. If you’re wanting to support more local restaurants, especially ones that rock at carry out and making vegan food that takes delicious, definitely support Brooklyn Street!!

  • 5/5 Justen B. 4 years ago on Google
The food here is SO good! We were in town looking for a good vegan brunch and this was highly recommended. The staff is very nice and the vibe is nice. It's a smaller spot so prepare to be cozy with the table next to you but that's not a complaint. The wait wasn't long even though it was packed. They have things down to a science because the menu/specials aren't lacking and the kitchen is tiny but you would never know by how the plates come out. Top notch. Can't wait to go again.

Ok a little small, with that hipster vibe. We enjoyed trying the place, but really. A bit pricey for breakfast $60.00 for 3 people,????? I enjoy experiencing Detroit, I don't want to buy it. But like I said great experience.

Jumped on the waiting list before we left the hotel. When we arrived, it was only a few minutes of sipping coffee on the patio before we were seated. Quick service and piping hot food. Couldn't resist the mini carrot cupcakes for breakfast dessert. Bloody Mary was a bargain at $6. Definitely worth the wait!

Strangely the first go around at googling “Brunch Detroit” and “Brunch near me/open now” this gem didn’t pop up. Luckily I found it the 3rd time around after trying to get brunch down on Woodward. It was 1130 and I showed up, and 3 empty patio tables with umbrellas were ready for patrons! I was so excited that I didn’t have to get on a waitlist at prime Sunday Brunch time. After you sit, you can order your food online- and it doesn’t take long at all to get your order. I got a half order of banana walnut pankcakes, a breakfast sandwich, and breakfast potatoes, and all were delicious. I’m sitting here post meal completely full, but not sluggish since there weren’t any processed additives and junk that you’ll have at a chain. The iced tea is super tasty- I think I chose the peach black tea. Super enjoyable overall experience. Music on the patio would be nice, but even without it- it’s a great spot :) And Quintonio was awesome!
