Interesting menu items with fantastic flavor combinations. Nice portions sizes but rather salty for our taste (we eat very low salt so maybe we’re more sensitive than most). The menu is small but creative and diverse. Great shareable plates which allow you to try several different things. The two desserts (lemon pistachio and chocolate) were very very sweet. We certainly could have shared 1 between the three of us. 1-2 bites was enough. We sat at the bar because it was the only seating available at 6:30 on a Friday. They said they are primarily a reservation based restaurant, so I would highly recommend making a reservation in advance. They do require $10 per person deposit. The space is cozy, with interesting decor and a semi open kitchen/bar view. It was a little loud for us, but it’s a great space for date night or dinner with friends. Not sure if I need to go here again but glad I tried it. The staff was very nice, friendly and helpful.

Fresh and made from scratch, meats seasoned, soften and marinated. Veggies washed, diced and prepared, soups - homemade and not processed. Vegan fare, gluten free, all taste divine and excellent. A tucked away hidden treasure in plain sight. I can not exclaim enough about this restaurant. Stews, main dishes, lamb chops to die for, yes schwarma’s off the chain too! Again, do not let the outside nor simple and plain interior fool you👍🏾

My fiancee and I stumbled upon this place on a random grubhub order sometime last year and immediately fell in love. Both of us, having grown up in Dearborn, took every bite as if it were a new adventure for our palate. The taste, the aroma, the quality, AND quantity, all reminded us of the authenticity we were spoiled with previously. The pricing is perfect. It's not too high and I wouldn't feel right spending a penny less on quality this good. Hands down best Mediterranean food in the entire area and maybe even the entire county. We love you guys and we love the sujuk and spinach pies so much!!

My favorite restaurant in the world and Detroit. The food is amazing. So many Suttle flavors layered in to each dish. Highly recommend.

Always stellar. Their carryout is absolutely perfect. Chartreuse is one of the most consistently excellent restaurants in Detroit with exemplary hospitality as well.

This was such a perfect experience all around. The atmosphere is cozy and casual but the food brings a sense of elegance. We ordered based on our servers recommendation and it was absolutely worth it. We had the rabbit, double cooked egg, mushroom ricotta, and shrimp skewers. Each dish was simplistic in the best way and packed with flavour. Everything tasted fresh and was served with enough time in between courses. We will absolutely be back !

What an amazing restaurant! Attentive waiters. Delicious and beautifully presented dishes. Some of them could be served in Michelin star cuisines. But I'm happy they're not and are still affordable :) Their signature cocktails are few but also of a great quality and taste. Very much recommended gem in the city.

The food, the vibe, it was all great. I wish I wouldn't have had an entire meal before my stop in, but hey, what do you do? I'd recommend this place to anyone who likes variety with their dishes. @dietproof

I absolutely love the food! The family is so kind and caring and very welcoming. The meats are always seasoned very well and cooked so juicy. I come here every other day. I love the many healthy options, the dips like hummous and garlic are absolutely incredible. Definitely recommend this place 10/10!!

After reading all the great reviews.. We were so disappointed. We lived in East Dearborn for over 20 years.. the food was NOT autIhentic Mediterranean.. Lentil soup.. had way too much cumin. almond rice salad was all vinegar and tasted awful. Hummus was too thick, it had too much tahini. Shish tawook , ugh.. it was horrible. Tawook is chicken kabobs of white meat. The chicken was pressed flat and very dry. The sandwich had tomato and lettuce(not normal)and the garlic spread tasted like pure mayo. Our bill was $28 and we left all of the food on our plates and not in our tummys.

This place is the real deal for Lebanese food! We ordered the lemonade ’power’ cocktail which was infused with ginger and mint and it was so first quenching and the tabouli is to die for! Definitely be back.

I didnt eat fried green tomatoes until I ate here! One of its burrata dishes with an olive medley made me totally enjoy the "hated flavor" I had been avoiding so long. #flavafulltv #vegetarian Consistently the entrees are delicious and plated the same. The service is always good and the bartender puts love into her drinks. Easy for this place to become your random "I'm hungry, lets swing by..." restaurant. Drinks: Flight of the Dragonfly. Dish: Burrato and Fried Green tomatoes.

Decided to come back with my wife for our first anniversary dinner after having such a great experience here for my 30th. We asked our server (Evan, who was excellent by the way) to select our food and drink pairings for the night and we couldn't be more satisfied. The beef tartar was the best I've ever had in my life. Pumpkin pasta? Never would have thought to order it myself. It was amazing. By far one of our favorite restaurants and I love the rotating menu.

What a gem! We've been wanting to try this place for a while and I'm so happy we did! The whole experience was incredible. The restaurant, decor, and atmosphere was really chill and comfortable. The service was impeccable. The food was amazing. I both love and hate that the menu changes so frequently, because you can't really fall in love with anything and expect it to be there the next time you visit.. but, I also love trying new things, and I do like that there will always be something new and different. We each got a starter, and we also got one starter and one dinner got our meals. Everything was incredible delicious. From my understanding, the Twice Cooked Egg is almost always on the menu, and I highly, highly recommend it. It was my favorite item I tried. I'm still thinking about it all these weeks later. :) They have some really great cocktails and mocktails, so there is something for everyone.

I've been wanting to try Chartreuse for a while now, and I'm so happy I finally did! All of the staff were friendly and very helpful, and it seemed like they enjoyed working here, always a good sign of a well run business. I sat in the gorgeous lounge and was more and more delighted by each thing I tasted. The food and cocktails were delicious. I highly recommend the grilled quail, it was seasoned to absolute perfection and such a well-balanced dish. I will definitely be treating myself to another meal here soon! My only complaint is that I didn’t stop in sooner.

This was my last meal out with my best friends pre Covid19. We all still talk about how amazing the food and drinks were. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the food or drink menu. The servers will pace the food for you so you don’t get 15 plates all at once. Also, if you have dietary restrictions, the servers will mark the menu up so you know what’s vegan or gluten free or nut free. I love how they will split the bill for you. They are awesome! It’s a very intimate atmosphere, and one of my favorite places to go to celebrate a special occasion or anniversary. For reservations, it requires a $10 per person hold

  • 5/5 Ashton A. 3 years ago on Google
The asparagus was tender and delicious. My brother's t-bone was honestly the best t-bone I've ever had. The meat was beautifully marbled. The crab cakes were great - just delicious. Now. Let's talk about the pudding. Their pudding is basically a mousse. Vanilla bean and lemon basil syrup with the BEST rosemary cookies.

Casual spot. The inside is chartreuse - fittingly. Favorite dish was the twice cooked egg. We also got the sockeye salmon (felt this was a little salty), halloumi (felt this one was definitely over salted), bread and butter.

This place is AWESOME!! If your looking for a great birthday dinner spot, go here! I had been here once and it was good. I recently returned for my birthday and it was amazing!! I'm not going give all the details of why because I wouldn't want to spoil it for others. But the food was so great, and full of rich flavors and depth, and the service and staff are top notch. They went above and beyond to make me feel special for my birthday and you would have thought I was friends with half the servers and getting the "special" treatment.

My only complaint on first visit was a bit loud atmosphere, but on a snowy Feb night, this spot was perfect and quite quiet. The wine here is quite good, service is great - prompt and regular check-ins. I went for the steak frites, a delicious steak with chimichurri, queso fresco, and delish fries on the side. Perfectly done. Great flavors, great presentation. Incredibly decadent chocolate cake for dessert, and the staff came by with shots of green chartreuse on the house - which was a first for me. Sweet, flavorful, really quite good. Highly recommend this spot!

Dinner was amazing, my soon to be brother-in-law treated us to dinner before a show at the Fisher Theatre to celebrate our engagement. Everything was wonderful. Thank you for an amazing meal

  • 5/5 Lauren T. 3 years ago on Google
We went here with family to celebrate our engagement. The food was spot on and amazing! All of had our own Twice Cooked Egg, then we enjoyed their Halibut entree, Duck Confit, Ocotopus, and Ceviche. The waitstaff were very attentive and seemed passionate about what they were serving. They voluntarily shared additional information of each dish served which added to the experience. The only downside was that the interior of the building was quite warm; it was probably because we were seated next to their open concept kitchen and it was a 92F day.

First thing to note is that I've only been here for restaurant week. Normally, restaurant week options are pretty limited and it's generally not the restaurant's top food. But even then, I thought that Chartreuse was very good. Everything was creative and they used very good quality food.

I spent my birthday there this last week and I couldn't have felt more welcomed. The entire staff signed a little birthday card for me and all made sure to wish me a happy birthday. The food and service was excellent. The best steak I've had in years and for a reasonable price. The GM Rachel was very friendly, accommodating, and genuine. Waiters and bar staff all greeted us hello and goodbye. Highly recommend this place if corona ever let's us live our lives normally. Thank you all so much for a wonderful experience. 💜

Chartreuse is a treat! Make sure you give this place a try. From the atmosphere to the excellent service to the wonderful food, we had a great date night experience. We had the twice baked egg (don’t leave without trying this), delicata squash stuffed with goat cheese, gnocchi in a butter garlic sauce, Thai red and green curry with barramundi and shrimp (my fav) and finally dessert - the papaya Panna cotta. Everything tasted gourmet and was well balanced, service was phenomenal, and most importantly - the bill didn’t break the bank.

I have always been open-minded with food because I just get bored easily eating the same thing. So, when I notice Chartreuse Kitchen eclectic menu, it excited me to try their food. They definitely did not disappoint in taste and presentation. I have traveled to many countries and Chartreuse has the most well seasoned and bright food I have ever tasted. From the appetizer to the main course, everything was exceptional!!!!

First time dining indoors in over 4 months. Let me tell you there is no better place. I loved Chartreuse before COVID but now I know their hospitality is unmatched. The staff was so happy to see people and very safely attentive. I was feeling anxious to say the least but I could not have chosen a better place. BTW the ceviche and bread and butter are so delicious. Perfect for a hot AF summer day. Actually raising that... the ceviche was incredible. You need to order it. Thank you so much team Chartreuse. See you all again soon.

Chartreuse is tied for best restaurant in Detroit, on my personal list (tied with Selden Standard & SheWolf). Every time I've been, I've had a delicious meal, full of interesting dishes, which were executed perfectly! I love that the menu changes regularly, but there are also staples which stay put, such as the twice cooked egg (which I've literally had every time I've dined here!) and the Madagascar vanilla pudding (sounds simple, but it's far more complex and delicious than it sounds). Also, the hosts are always friendly, and every server & bartender I've had has been very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu, as well as friendly. I also love their housemade bar mixers! Their cola is so unique and delicious. They also do a delicious house-mixed ginger beer. Personally, I like having them mix the two to make a ginger cola! Chartreuse is one of the few restaurants I've been to which has never let me down with even a single dish.

Chartreuse is lovely but I wanted to share specifically about our carryout dinner from this evening. It's COVID times, so we can't dine at Chartreuse, but we still wanted our dinner in style. My brother got a t-bone steak, I got crab cakes. Asparagus for a side. Food was delicious.

I'm from KC and the service from the staff at Chartreuse was amazing! Everyone was so professional from the hostess greeting us at the front door, to the waitress and bussers providing excellent table service! What moved me to write my review is the table touches performed by the staff. They really wanted to make sure we the guests had a positive dining experience! I've worked in the food service industry and I took notice immediately! And the the food was so delicious! Plus the restaurant decor is so cute! I love the green interior!

Nothing I write here will be able to capture how wonderful Chartreuse is. For each birthday, graduation, and celebration I've shared with this restaurant, every experience has been better than the last. The menu is fresh and creative, and the staff are knowledgeable and warm; the space is bright and fun, but feels cozy when the sun starts to go down and tables are filled. The bill can rack up for sure, but unlike other places, you're paying for the quality of the ingredients and not an 'exclusive and swanky dinner.' Last summer, I brought my friend who has never visited Michigan to Chartreuse as a welcome dinner. To quote him: "This restaurant provides more than a meal. It's just special."

As an international foodie I finally found a place in Michigan I absolutely love love love. The energy of the people working here is just energizing. We are sitting at the bar eating delicious food prepared with a passion. Absolutely a must to visit if you love honest perfect tasteful food!!!!

Chartreuse was really good. My partner and I really enjoyed taking our time through the courses and were stuffed by the end of it. It feels like a slightly more casual version of fine dining with a comparable quality of food. The mushroom confit was my favorite - so flavorful! The duck was also very tasty, though unfortunately a bit chewy. The chartreuse flight was fun too, as we had never tried chartreuse by itself. Last but not least, I recommend reserving a spot on the chef's counter if you're especially into food - we got to watch the desserts be plated throughout the evening.

We had a group of six on a Friday night. The online reservation process was easy --they ask a deposit which is either refunded or put towards the meal). The table was ready and waiting for us, albeit near the (drafty) front door. I'm not sure what it takes to get a "warmer" seat...we were the first ones in that night. That aside, the food was excellent and the service attentive. My husband and I had the Twice-cooked Egg, The Shrimp and Grits, and the Ancho Chili Fettucini, and Rabbit Sausage as entrees. (The waiter even kindly suggested that the Fettucini would pair nicely with the sausage.) I don't recall the wine but it was a lighter-weight merlot --again, at the recommendation of the waiter. Delicious and smooth. Others in our party had the beets, the toast, the duck and the walleye (specials). No one complained and most everyone raved. I'm 'dinging' them one star for the noise level, exacerbated by loud music ("(Won't You Take Me to) Funky Town" ...really?!) I would have wanted more of a mellow, jazzy vibe or, hey, how about silence?

  • 5/5 Sabrina H. 4 years ago on Google
Such a wonderful gem. The food is delicious, fresh, colorful and well plated. The portions are not overly heavy and the vibe is fun and colorful. I love the seasonal menu and growing wall. The service is always great as well. I have never left unhappy.

This place is wonderful. The food is very good they are great at catering to allergies, not like the places that think presenting dried piece of meat with dried vegetables with no flavor is catering too allergies. They always have already one vegan option and it's always yum. The atmosphere is nice but not too stuffy. And they have a patio!!!

Came in for drinks and dessert. Cool atmosphere with friendly staff. Highly recommend the puddin (not pictured because it was quickly consumed!). Coming back for dinner!

Nice quaint restaurant with great food and good atmosphere across the street from the DIA. Outside seating is available but limited on the sidewalk. Definitely want to take part in family style dining and share with a date or friends. Many good food options to choose from. Restaurant has surprising sound dampening, even when the restaurant is full the atmosphere is intimate and easy to talk. QR code takes you to the restaurants menu that changes frequently with the seasons, say pride themselves on fresh in season of meals. Highly recommend the twice cooked egg over greens, asked for a second egg it will be worth it.

I had dinner @ Chartreuse Kitchen for the first time on NYE. It was phenomenal! Everone who worked there was pleasant & accommodating. We tried 4 different dishes and they were all delicious. Loved the wine and desserts as well. Great food & great service! I was impressed with the entire experience & will definitely be back!

If you appreciate Chartreuse, this is a must visit in Detroit. There are great Chartreuse cocktails and older vintages. If you are hungry, the food is among the best in the metro area. There are a handful of menu items that stay consistent and the rest rotates seasonally (the twice cooked egg is great and usually available). The wine list is well curated without being overwhelming. This is where I take friends and family for a great food experience.

The double cooked egg is always a classic. The sautéed onion, toasted Brussels sprouts, and the running yolk from the egg mixed with the shredded Parmesan is just a great blend all together. The duck confit is done just right. The barley under it mixed with blueberry bourbon jam compliments really well with the crispy duck skin and fat. Recommend both dishes to all

Staff and service are great! A very eclectic menu and the staff were so thoughtful in recognizing a birthday for one of my party. Seems to be very popular among the locals.

This restaurant is a nod to all things Chartreuse, an age old French botanical liqueur from the Andalusian monastery! Great food, friendly atmosphere, fanatic flavor. Perfect place to impress your date.

My husband and I were so impressed with this place! It was so bright and cheerful! We loved the open kitchen. The service was top 3 restaurants we have ever been to. Katy was phenomenal and so attentive. We let her decide what we should eat since we are foodies and not picky. Katy started us off with the crab salad which wasn't on the menu and the steak tartare. The crab salad was creamy and had that pop of acid from the grilled mandarins and yuzu. The steak tartare was earthy and I loved the pickled mushrooms. That black garlic purée gave it a sweetness and funkiness it needed. The second plates were the twice cooked egg and spare ribs. The twice cooked egg was a great idea! The salad was so rich! I loved the Brussel sprouts and mix of greens, but it was super sweet. It needed acid and salt. I was looking for some relief from the richness of the salad. The ribs were amazing! They were sticky and perfectly cooked. That raw potato salad was addicting. It was crunchy, had such a great umami flavor, and spicy. The combination was amazing! Our last plates were the pork belly and the sweet potatoes. Cherry bacon jam on those sweet potatoes was so delicious that I wanted to tip the bowl and drink it all up! The tartness of the cherries, salt from the feta and the smokiness from the bacon mixed with the sweetness of the potatoes was perfection! The pork belly was cooked nicely and I liked the spiciness and pickled vegetables. It would have been better if we didn't have the spare ribs. We finished with the pudding! This is not your mom's pudding. It was thick and rich and packed with flavor. I love the basil oil and rosemary in the cookies. It needed that relief from the powerful vanilla pudding. This was by far top 3 restaurants we have ever been to. The service, food, and ambiance was exceptional! We would definitely come back if we are in Detroit! Just stellar!

Possibly the best hospitality I've ever received at a restaurant. Everyone did a fantastic job. Food was great and ambiance was great as well. Food portions are a little small so I'd recommend getting more than you think you need. The place was packed when we went for dinner on a Tuesday, so it was a little loud, but other than that, I'd give this restaurant 10 stars!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chartreuse, and I was very impressed with the food, drinks, and service. The cocktails were made with fresh ingredients and were perfectly balanced. 🍸 The food was also fresh and delicious, and there were a few gluten-free options available, which was great. The service was also very accommodating and friendly. I would definitely recommend Chartreuse to anyone looking for a great dining experience.

Made reservations on a Friday night. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted and seated immediately. The restaurant was packed and lively. We anticipated a wait but was pleasantly surprised when our waiter appeared in less than 5 minutes. He patiently went through the menu, thoroughly explaining the ingredients in each dish. We ordered all at once and sat back to wait for the food. Once again, to our surprise, the dishes began to arrive one after the other and in order. From there, it just got better. The dishes were delicious and perfectly seasoned. We will definitely be coming back!

Unique, fresh and delicious entrées and salads! Outstanding service and chefs, fun cocktail menu and atmosphere! I came in here alone (after a solo day at the DIA), and they all made me feel so welcome. I ordered two dishes because I had been wanting to try this spot for so long, and they were both incredible! (Pro-tip: Their non-alcoholic cocktails are stellar, too!)

It was a mostly delicious meal. The mocktail selection is phenomenal, the bread and seasonal butter divine, the mushroom puffed pastry was the best. The steak was tough to chew. Skip that. The service, atmosphere and energy of the place is exceptional. It won't disappoint. I'd go back again!

Our favorite restaurant. We've lived in multiple states and it's one of the best restaurants we have eaten at. The service is always great and every dish is well thought out. We usually never eat a dessert but the madagascar pudding....get it!! If they have the crispy duck on the menu....get it!!
