We went here because our favorite places (Mi Pueblo and Los Galanes) were closed on a Monday. We thought because it had 4.4 stars, it would be good enough. WRONG! Worst Mexican food and one of the worst meals we’ve ever had. The food was flavorless—just like most of the people who were dining there. The chicken fajitas were seasoned with only salt and the burrito had Kraft American cheese slices on top. The server, who was very nice, brought us boxes at the end and we literally rejected them. We usually pack up our food because we don’t like to waste leftovers, but just the thought of eating this food again made us sick. If you’re on a diet and don’t want to eat too much, go here. You’re guaranteed to stop eating after the first bite. So disappointed and shocked that this place still exists next to restaurants that actually make delicious food. Honestly, food tasted better when I fully lost my sense of taste from covid. I wouldn’t even recommend this food to my enemies.

Más Viejo. A classic Mexican American restaurant in the heart of southwest Detroit. Mexican Village claims the honor of the first Mexican restaurant in Detroit and they have been here a long time banging out consistently great food. Full bar, awesome food and great service is probably why they are still strong after over 50 years of business! I think my favorite thing was how friendly and attentive everyone was.

I love good Mexican cuisine and have stopped in here from time to time for over 40 years now. It's still in my top 5 Mexican restaurants. They have ample, guarded, parking available in the huge lot on the east side of the building 🏫🏢. You can dine in and they have take out available for those on the go. You can call ahead for your carry out order. Masks are optional at this time. Rick Zorn

Best Mexican Restaurant I’ve been to. I’m lactose intolerant so most of the time I’m not able to order much that’s that good but the Mexican Sandwich is to die for! You got to get the chunky beef (on any order basically). Not sure what kind of sauce it is but it is so good.

For my 1st visit this was better than expected. The meals were delicious as were the drinks served to us. Very friendly staff and you could see the teamwork between the servers as well. Left full and sleepy.

Excellent service and delicious food overall. Highly recommended than the others, especially Xochimilco's. Mexican Village waiting staff overall were very professional, fast, and courteous at all times. I am going back there with friends very soon upon any ventures in downtown Detroit. They even offer flan as dessert. Not many places carry flan as dessert, but usually sopapillas and/or empanadas.

First, let me just say that I have been coming here since I was a kid, and it was very consistent up until about a year and a half ago. In the spring of 2022 it seemed like the quality, portions, and overall taste of the food went downhill. However, after going there today I am so happy to see it appears things have returned to normal. The food was absolutely delicious, the portions were large, the quality was great, and the service was excellent! I believe our server's name was Adam and he was the best server I have had at ANY restaurant in a long, long time. It was my daughter's birthday today, and he even made it a point to quietly and discreetly ask me if it was okay if she had ice cream, which I really, really appreciate. Such a wonderful dining experience! The chicken chimichangas are my personal favoritel

I felt for the price I should have gotten more food. Was nothing that I couldn't make at home. And they used sliced cheese instead of what they usually use when I asked for extra inside of my burrito 🌯 they put it on top. My smoothie was delicious tho. Waitress was great very helpful super nice and friendly. People were entirely too loud like they missed the lesson on having inside voices.

I used to love their Botana but lately I’ve had rancid avocados each time. Don’t know why the person preparing my food thinks this is acceptable. Rancid avocados belongs in the trash guys.

Super fast service. A M A Z I N G food!!!! The best Mexican food I’ve had out of all the restaurants in Detroit, Flint, Pontiac etc. Effing superb. I got the Arizonia Combination (enchilada, taco, burrito, chimichanga & beans & rice and it was just doggone awesome. I used to frequent Mi Pueblo religiously but I think I found salvation in the salsa here. 🤣🤤😍

The food came out quick. Service was quick and friendly. Chips are not the greatest here, not bad just average. Flautas were great (pictured)

The Mexican Village Restaurant in Detroit, MI, is an absolute food mecca for anyone seeking an authentic Mexican dining experience that's nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment you step in, you're transported to a world of vibrant flavors and warm hospitality. The setting itself is a treat, enveloping you in a cozy and inviting atmosphere that sets the stage for a remarkable culinary journey. The service matches the ambiance, with servers who are not only super friendly but also go the extra mile to describe each dish in detail, elevating the dining experience. Now, let's talk about the star of the show: The Arizonian combination plate. It's a true symphony of Mexican flavors, showcasing the diversity and richness of the cuisine. The shredded beef chimichanga was a delightful crunch of textures, while the ground beef and cheese burrito was a harmonious blend of savory goodness. The flour ground beef taco was a burst of flavor in every bite, and the ground beef and cheese enchilada was a masterpiece of cheesy indulgence. And then there's the rice and bean puree - a revelation of taste. The bean puree, in particular, was a delightful surprise that took the dish to another level. Bursting with authentic flavors, each bite was a tribute to Mexican culinary tradition. The Mexican Village Restaurant is a journey that immerses you in the heart of Mexico's culinary treasures. For those in search of genuine Mexican flavors, warm service, and a true taste of Mexico, this restaurant is a must-visit destination. #MexicanVillageRestaurant #AuthenticMexicanFlavors #CulinaryJourney #TasteBudAdventure #TheArizonianCombo #RestaurantReview #FoodieFinds #TasteTheWorld #FoodLover #FoodieDiscovery #VibrantFlavors #TasteOfMexico

My wife loves this place, but since it's my review... I'm not as big of a fan. The beans and rice are a bit blah and tortilla chips and thick and hard ( I prefer light and airy). We always have to ask for more hot salsa. The main course has always been good. The staff is usually friendly.

I've eaten here several times and I never leave disappointed. Whether it's food or cocktails they know what they are doing. I got the trio plate so that I could try a little bit of everything. Their tortilla chips and two different salsas that every table receives is something I always look forward to.

Located at the edge of both Corktown and Mexican Town, Mexican Village Restaurant is a solid family style restaurant with good parking, very friendly staff, and a simple traditional Mexican menu with a liquor license.

So, I’ve been coming here for over 20 years and this place is consistently good. That is extremely unusual in the industry. Large place with plenty of seating and they seat you right away. Food ordered is always fast and correct. I usually get the Beef Burazzo with the chunky beef or the Nachos with the shredded chicken. Both are phenomenal. Some of the best Mexican Tex/Mex food I ever had. And although they raised prices I still thought is was very reasonable.

Yea the food is good & yes the staff is nice whenever you can get an order placed. Prices already increased,, fine,, but Covid is supposed to be over so why would a Mexican restaurant close so early? Dates don't even start till there closing time & some of us work late, just want a solid meal. Furthermore, Detroit is known for being Mexicantown.. and the only options are nasty places on the other side of 75. No thank you, I'd rather eat from the taco truck!

It was ok. The fajitas were sooooo oily. The salsa was not good. The tortilla chips were served warm... yum. The server was incredible and the restaurant is cute, but the food was underwhelming.

I have been eating here since I was a child and it is ALWAYS fantastic! I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal and nothing but great service here. The beef and cheese enchiladas are a favorite and their margaritas are awesome. Mexican Village is hands down my favorite restaurant. When I am in Michigan I have no shame in eating here frequently so I can get my fix.

Very good service. Taco beef shell salad delicious. Fresh made strawberry 🍋 lemonade. Service was quick on arrival. Resturant clean and lady's bathroom tidy. I have been there at least 4 times over the years. Glad to see them open amidst Covid. Patrons yesterday were unmasked. A man sitting directly across from our table sneezed!. Scarey... even with our masks on. The male waiter was wearing a mask...that was some consolation. The restaurant was crowded
