I
haven’t
not
eaten
at
Midtown
Shangri-La
in
over
10
years.
I
remember
never
really
being
impressed
by
their
food.
But
I
see
that
they
have
a
rating
of
4.3,
so
I
decided
to
give
it
another
chance.
I
was
pleasantly
surprised
by
the
main
dish
that
I
ordered,
which
was
“braised
fried
tofu
with
black
mushroom
and
vegetables.”
This
fish
was
super
delicious,
especially
the
sauce!
It
has
such
a
nice,
rich
flavor.
A
richness
that
you
don’t
usually
get
with
vegan/vegetarian
foods.
However,
I
was
very
disappointed
by
the
scallion
pancake.
I
can’t
remember
if
I’ve
ever
had
an
authentic
Chinese
scallion
pancake
but
I
have
lived
in
rural
South
Korea
and
I’ve
eaten
many
types
of
“pancakes”
there.
I’ve
seen
scallion
pancakes
many
times
in
cooking
shows
and
they
never
look
like
this.
The
only
difference
between
this
scallion
pancake
and
an
elephant
ear
is
the
powdered
sugar.
There
are
only
like
2-3
measly
pieces
of
scallion
per
slice.
It’s
really
just
extremely
oily
fried
dough
with
some
green
bits
for
decoration.
I
was
turned
off
from
the
look
and
amount
of
oil.
But
I
still
gave
it
a
try
because
maybe
the
look
was
deceiving
and
maybe
it
was
actually
packed
with
flavor.
Nope,
the
was
it
looks
is
the
way
that
it
tastes.
It
tastes
like
greasy
fried
dough
with
absolutely
no
flavor
and
certainly
no
scallion
flavor.
If
I
added
powdered
sugar,
it
would
taste
exactly
like
an
elephant
ear.
I
highly
recommend
taking
this
item
off
of
the
menu
if
this
is
how
it’s
always
prepared.
