Attending the African World Festival at Hart Plaza. Easy to get there by taking the Q-Line along Woodward Ave. The Festival was well attended, plenty of shop vendors and food concession booths. The entertainment was varied and well planned out. Spent about 5 hours at the event and still had more to see and heat. The crowd was peaceful, a d courteous to each other. Would have like to see more information personnel, got turned around a few times because there were no maps to show event locations

Beautiful place to go with great views and great walking paths. Different monuments and statues to look at when you first get into Hart Plaza. They have an amphitheater here they have events sometimes at. Everything was closed down still for the season I think it said things start opening May 2nd.

Hart plaza is right along the river, you can enjoy the river walk and some statues and sculptures in this park. This is also a monument to show “the gateway to freedom”. You can even see the Windsor city side of Canada here.

Incredible plaza. The monuments and event areas are truly sights to be seen. I could only imagine speaking at this amphitheater with Canada across the river and all of Detroit behind me. The community here is strong, proud, and welcoming.

From my childhood growing up in Detroit city. Excellent place to go for the weekend festivities. Good food, music and things to buy. It's great to see that Detroit is FINALLY on the rebound. Everything is amazing downtown now. Sue keep an eye on your wallet, but it's very nice now

Nice space that public can access. Waterfront view of Canada across the river. As well view of downtown Detroit right front of the waterfront. It is nice and good place which is filled with events.

Hart Plaza is a Detroit Treasure! There have been live festivals here every weekend in the summer since I was a very young child and before I’m sure. While they all used to be free, now some cost but some are still free. Motor City Pride just asks a small donation for operations while TechnoFest/DEMF/Movement (which people come from all over the world for)for example is quite expensive, but Jazzfest is the largest outdoor free Jazz music festival in the world. I was saw a free Rachelle Farrell concert and Anita Baker was in the front row and got up and sang with her! A Detroit must in the summer!

Hart Plaza just doesn't feel the same anymore without the festivals. And it's definitely not kept up like the rest of the Riverwalk. The city should really invest to bring that Detroit gem back to life

Very cool downtown area. Long Riverwalk. The people mover tram is a great way to see the city for 1 dollar. Canada is right across the river. Cool spot. Indy car race was great to.

Coincidentally I was there during the June Jubilee and saw other members of the D9, the NAACP, and other community leaders preparing for a March a commemorating Dr. King's "I have a Dream" speech. It was hot but still enjoyable.

A Detroit Gem that has improved over the years. Great for concerts, festivals, sightseeing and gatherings. A stones throw from everything downtown has to offer.

I am here for light the night for leukemia and lymphoma. It is always nice to do these walks every year with the idea that I'm saving someone. This is why I do it because I have the idea that I will save someone.

As long as you get to the festivals early (when they open) they seem to be ok. The African World Festival seemed to miss vendors from previous years that I looked forward to patronizing. I think that has something to do with the increased costs. Pros: more room, spaced out better, not as much congestion, great lemonade & cucumber drink and some friendly/welcoming vendors. Cons: new entrance fee, costly parking, not very conducive to people with disabilities, quality of merchandise has dwindled from vendors, pricing not very competitive, a lot of repetition of items sold and food was outrageously price ($25 per plate; small plates at that!). The most frustrating was the cost of food....ridiculous.

What a place to visit during ford fireworks 💥 I waited for an entire year as I missed it last year and it was worth the wait. In usual days itself it’s a cool place for hangout. But on a firework day, it’s amazing. Crowded with food stalls. High security and amazing fireworks.

Music festival was cool, not liking the fact that entry to all events cost. Back in the day festivals used to be free so we supported the vendors. Nowadays you have to be frugal because of extra fees 😒. I will only be very picky which events I attend because of this.

For generations, Hart Plaza has been a long-time city riverfront destination and venue for summer festivals, concerts and special events. The 14-acre plaza, which is named for the late U.S. Senator Philip Hart and is located immediately south of the intersection of Woodward and Jefferson Avenues, opened in 1975 and has a capacity of 40,000 people. At the center of the plaza is the famed Horace E. Dodge and Son Memorial Fountain, designed by Isamu Noguchi in 1978.

Movement is a must-have experience for any music lover. This is such a unique venue to enjoy an urban festival in! Bring earplugs or get some from the party safe folks.

I went to the pride parade downtown and it was magical. The live performances, all the companies and vendors showing up giving away things, the food trucks, and most of all, the welcoming atmosphere. I'll be coming every year from now on.

Beautiful statues adorn a large park on the Detroit waterfront. Though some beautiful views and murals, the grounds were not well maintained.

I really enjoyed the World African festival.... @StephenMarley an @The Walers, performed it was awesome. $15 to get in I didnt know the festival were charging. It was worth it. No crime people were nice and the only issue was waiting in line for food was 1 1/2 hour waiting.

This is an architectural masterpiece! This park host the best electronic music festival every Memorial Day weekend. Also many other awesome events! Anytime is a good time to check this park out. Night view is amazing along with the day time views. This park has alot of history and I find it very interesting.

Hart Plaza is a pretty big square just by the Detroit Riverwalk. It offers great downtown and river views. Also there're several great monuments around it - to Ford, Cadillac and the magnificent Underground railroad sculpture.

Attended the Making Strides for Breast Cancer Event at Hart Plaza and it was beautiful. My 3 hour drive was absolutely worth every mile. Clean area, cordial and friendly participants. Beautiful riverfront walk. View of Canada across the way. Awesome experience in the city.

Loved it! Clean beautiful. A pleasant morning spent there. North end the burned out building blight was visible. Still work to do!

It's always nice to be down here, the only reason for 4 stars is because part of the plaza is closed due to repairs. Still can wait for them to fix it up.

Detroit is a beautiful city. Streets are clean. It's safe and has many beautiful things to look at and learn about. So much history in the motor city!

Wow! I fail to find the appropriate words to describe the beautiful riverside walk , and Hart Plaza premises. I consider this area of Detroit downtown the best place for a totally relaxed evening to be spent enjoying the hue of the setting sun and Blue waters.... The whole area is well kept, clean and disciplined... I loved this place.for it's pristine beauty.

The city of Detroit has done a great job on restoring Hart Plaza. New concrete throughout and the fountain partially works! More work is being performed but it was really good to see this awesome spot on the river front being used and fixed.

👍👍 The Riverwalk was a great experience for our entire group. There’s free parking and the area is well-kept. We also noticed security/police presence and felt safe the entire time. The water is beautiful! We were able to get a great view of Canada and we saw several ducks up close and personal. It was...
