We are Torontonians visiting Detroit..we were glad we were able to stop by to this church. It's very solemn inside. Parishioners are very loving and kind. I love the idea of the stone design where Mama Mary is and Jesus in the other side. This church seems very old. The design is beautiful and very high ceiling. There are parking area by the church. Greentown is just accross the street.

We didn't come here for a service or any other event we just walked in to experience and see how beautiful this church is and it's one of a kind. One of the prettiest church's in the country. Everything about it is breathtaking. Make a few minutes to walk inside and see it.

They have a wonderful Mass every weekday at 12:15 sharp. It's a short "workers Mass" and is complete by 12:55 at the latest, so there's no reason for any Catholics working downtown Detroit to miss the Mass. The Church itself is steeped in the history of the city, and is well worth visiting to look around even if you are not Catholic. If you want to just look at the amazing architecture (or say a rosary before Mass) doors are open during the weekdays at 11:00, and stay open until 2:30 after the Mass. Note for sightseeing: There is a Eucharistic adoration after the 12:15 Mass on Fridays and many stay for the hour or so long adoration, this makes it difficult for someone who just wants to sightsee to photograph and explore without disrupting those in prayer.

An absolutely beautiful Catholic Church! They use the old confessional and the communion rail, too. How amazing it was to attend a weekday Mass here!

Note: I am not a parishioner of this parish, but am a Detroit local who sometimes attends this mass. Beautiful interior and exterior, first time I walked I to this church it was breath taking - +10. This church is planted right in the heart of downtown Detroit. They offer a morning 10am mass that is a normal novas ordo but all the words are in Latin expect for the readings and sermon.

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful mass at the Old St Mary's Church in downtown Detroit last week. Everything was appealing from the musical psalms, the mass prayers and the amazing beauty of the church.

Old St Mary cathedral is a long standing pillar in Detroit. And it's still beautiful inside as well as outside and they host a lot of events in the community.

What an absolutely gorgeous church that was so well decorated for Christmas. The grotto shrines had such a way of pulling you into a state of reference and awe. And while we visited, there was such a warm feel in the church that, mixed with the kindness of the greeter that sought us out and the organ soaring through a beautiful rendition of a Christmas hymn, I felt my heart floating high toward the vaulted ceiling.

Lovely church located at the end of Greek Town in Detroit. Not a large church yet worth visiting for the extravagant cathedral like feel. Also conveniently located for good greek food on the very next block.

My friend guest for The Annual DPD Memorial Service.A most unforgettable program for the ones that's no longer with us. The inside of the historical Church building was absolutely a breathtaking experience. Looking forward attending next year.

This church has the feel of a smaller version of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. The interior is superb. Great acoustics! Best version of Victorian German Romanesque Architecture.

Beautiful old church with frequent masses in downtown Detroit. Great place to check out. Security/ushers or whoever they are push you out quickly after mass. Not the most welcoming experience

Found this wandering around Greektown while looking for intoxicated missing party members. Our Bard got separated from us. Old St. Mary's Catholic Church is a beautiful building with this awesome statue outside. We eventually found our Bard, had some random encounters and leveled up, then went home. It was an adventure for sure.

Awesome 12:15 pm Ash Wednesday service. Well attended. A diverse group of priest for mass today. Free parking. A great way to start Lent!

Beautiful and reverent community and priest. I come here for daily mass and love it. Father Lee and all the priests for daily mass keep the liturgy holy and solemn. If you come to see the architecture, you will not be disappointed either. This temple alongside Sweetest Heart of Mary and Ste Anne de Detroit really take the beauty and theology of Western Architecture in the church to the max.

You can tell from the outside that Old St. Mary's is a special place. But when you see it from the inside you realize how incredible it is. Even if you're not there to attend mass, it's worth your time to walk through just to appreciate the beauty of it.

Such a blessing we had today in the church today. Mass was simple & sober and a beautiful Catholic Church to begin with. So divine & peaceful inside in middle of such a busy Detroit Downtown atmosphere. Strongly recommend everyone to pay a visit and get blessings of Dear Mother Mary and Dear Lord Almighty & saints !!!

Beautiful rubrical Mass. Worship was reverent and sacred. I'm new to town. I've gone to vigil and Sunday TLM.

Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful churches designed in honor of Our Lord's Mother....a NOTE to the reviewer (uncle chuckles)...after walking around the church perhaps you could kneel down before Our Lord and give him a minute of your day...also too few of those who say they love God esp. Catholics attend Holy Mass here in the heart of Detroit...03-30-18 uploaded some photos taken during Good Friday Faure Requiem

New arrivals to the metro Detroit were very impressed at the beauty of this historic church; grateful too especially when a birthday celebrant received special blessings after mass from the wonderful priest

Love Old Saint Mary’s. Beautiful church. Reverent Liturgy (including TLM and Latin Novus Ordo). Great community. If you love the traditions of the Church … come here. If you’re looking for an established and thriving urban parish of families, professionals, and others … come here. We have donuts after pretty much every weekend Mass. Confessions heard before pretty much every Mass. And concerts. Seriously. You should come and give OSM a try.

Attended a wedding mass but it was not a full mass. I don't know if the Priest was the main Priest at that church or not, but he is the reason I gave 4 stars instead if 5. The church itself is gorgeous.
