The Riverwalk was a great experience for our entire group. There’s free parking and the area is well-kept. We also noticed security/police presence and felt safe the entire time. The water is beautiful! We were able to get a great view of Canada and we saw several ducks up close and personal. It was a hot day but there was a nice, cool breeze. This is definitely a great location for walking or bike riding. There’s an area to purchase snacks and tables/chairs for eating or just relaxing. The public restrooms were surprisingly clean also. This is definitely a must see place.

Nice point with beautiful views into the frontier between US and Canada, if you have time don't miss a ride on a classic paddle wheel boat, rare to find beyond the southeastern US.

Beautiful ! Across the water is Canada! You can see the bridge from here. There is a kids park and when open it looks like the is a concession stand with food and drinks. Nice place for a walk and pictures.

Pretty cool river walk, the water was clear and blueish, the park well maintained for the most part. There were quite a few people jogging, there's a carousel, a cafe, plenty of seating along the walk... It was also pretty cool that you can see Canada right across the river. We visited 1st week of June. When we got there around 4pm it was very warm, within less than an hour the temperature dropped drastically. As soon as we left the area, it was very warm again. Definitely a must when visiting Detroit.

A lot of fun, we took the diamond jack cruise along the Detroit River. It only lasts a hour but is very fun and relaxing. The Riverwalk has bathrooms and seating to eat, once in a while the Cafe is open if you don't have food. The walking paths are great and recommend to anyone on a nice sunny day. It's a special part of Detroit.

The Detroit Riverwalk is amazing! It's definitely the best in the country, in my opinion. The scenery and views are breathless.

Beautiful place to walk. Doors on the bathroom stalls are kinda iffy..i had one that didn't lock. Gives you a beautiful view of the city of Detroit as well as a beautiful view of Canada across the river. People don't Detroit enough credit for how beautiful the city is because of the all violence that takes place outside the city. Also it's very damn easy to almost end up on the bridge to Canada so you have to really be paying attention. There is a carousel on the river walk perfect for your little ones. Parking is not bad at all and is free so that's a plus! Usually security is there if that helps make you feel a bit more safe. It's very beautiful to walk.

Man has this place come a long way since I was a kid. What a beautiful river walk. Water seems more clear than it used to be too. Nice little state park. Covered pavilion. My son liked the park. Very impressed with the place overall

Beautiful river walk! Very safe and always has a lot of other people around. Great for kids as well as there are multiple restrooms, play areas, benches, and even a carousel. There are also places to buy food along the way (Just standard boardwalk food like fries, chicken tenders, pizza, drinks). Water bottle refill stations available too.

Love the river walk and how far it has come over the years. Three is so much to see its really nice place to take a walk and depending on the day there is all types of stuff to do. They have snack and drink machines and sometimes serve food and drinks. Love my city and am excited to continue to watch it grow!

The Detroit Riverwalk is amazing! You will have two different experiences visiting it in the daylight and night. You will be able to see the General Motors (GM) building as well as the Canada border from the river walk. This place is very peaceful and calm. You can have a nice walk early in the morning or evening. This place has seating across the walk area, so you can just sit and enjoy the beautiful view.

The riverwalk was awesome. You can see Canada on the other side. There is also the underground railway there. We also stumbled upon the Detroit Princess cruise and did a lunch cruise for about $130 for a family of 4 that came with a whole buffet and entertainment for two hours. I would definitely recommend if you are ever in Detroit!

Amazing views. Fall was perfect to stroll the Riverwalk, relax, or bike the area. Quick trip to Canada just across the water. The entire walkway area was clean, felt safe, and picturesque.

Great place to spend time during summer evenings. Lots to see and do nearby. A must see for anyone visiting Detroit. You can also rent bikes on a hourly basis, and this is especially useful if you are headed to another spot within the downtown loop.

What a beautiful day walking. It was nice to see all the families out enjoying themselves. Nice, clean, many things to see along the way. We ended up taking the boat ride along the river, crew very knowledgeable on Canadian and Detroit side.

August 2022 - what a great place to take a walk. Near a play set for the kids. A public bathroom and I believe a place that sells food. Worth going and we came here on a Sunday. Go early so you can get a free parking spot. Wonderful place and worth visiting if you are in the area.

Plenty of activity going on from people walking to people riding bikes and scooters. Plenty of people enjoying nature and the water is the main attraction. Food services present, open certain days/hours, as well as a carousel.

It's one of the more beautiful scenes in Detroit. I go their to just sit and listen to the water. It stretches from Belle Isle to downtown Detroit near GM Headquarters. The views of Canada are nice as well. It's a great area to run or bike ride. The city is continuously developing the river walk. A new trail was added this summer. Sometimes I take pictures. Mommy and Daddy geese were out with the kids.

The Detroit Riverwalk is a MUST once in Michigan. The walk is amazing during the Summer. Many activities and people walking. Very enjoyable and relaxing. You can walk all the way to the General Motors Building and its amazing. The View to Canada is breath-taking. I totally recommend coming and seeing it for yourself.

A must visit sightseeing spot to visit when visiting Detroit! Despite the reputation the city receives, there really is great parts of the city that isn’t talked about enough. This view nearby Downtown Detroit was amazing to walk through and beautiful to see. This view you end up seeing the other side of Canada which was interesting! The border bridge also being close by as well.

This is one of our favorite areas to come when we are in Detroit. It is beautiful by the water. There is a nice area to walk along there as well. A clean playground for the children. A carousel but it was not open. There was also an area you could buy food but it was not open. The restrooms were available with soap. We saw some nice birds in the marshy area that's there. Parking was free in the parking area.

The Detroit Riverwalk is rated one of the best in the USA. It's a good walk. However it still has some spots that require you to walk around construction at the former Joe Lewis Arena and at the Dequindre Cut. I cant wait for that to be completed.

  • 4/5 Lewis F. 3 years ago on Google
I love the Riverwalk, I only wish that it was longer. I have always found it to be remarkably free of trash and debris. It is safe because there is a continuous traffic flow of friendly users, including cyclists, walkers, etc. I have read that plans are in place to extend it to Belle Isle. I can hardly wait for that to happen. Also, there a few cracks that could use some maintenance for cyclists, but not many.

The Detroit River Walk goes along side the Detroit River. It is so nice and peaceful. I took my walk at about midnight. The lights reflecting on the water from the boats and buildings were absolutley beautiful. I walked from the Port Authorty, all the way past the Aretha L. Franklin Amphitheater (Chene Park)

Well... it is pretty cold during the winter season. And some section of the river walk park is closed for a reason. I recommend you get there after spring :)
