It's a beautiful building with awesome architecture. I'm ecstatic that Ford motor company has purchased the building and is currently restoring and remodeling The Michigan Central train depot. I talked to a on site Security Guard (who BTW was very friendly and helpful, he had such a affable character) who told me that FOMOCO is planning on turning it into a shopping center and office rental facility.

Had the opportunity to help clean the station in 2009 with some of my fellow community station enthusiasts. Here are a few of the pictures from that day. Some art remained on the walls from a snazzy party that was held years earlier. I am honestly super excited that Ford will repair and open this beautiful jewel to the public. Thank you Ford!

This was a display from January 2019 and it was about eight degrees out. So super cool. The video is 8 minutes and 52 seconds so I'm not sure if it will all play. Definitely worth The View and will be a video I will never delete

I am so happy Ford Motor Company decided to renovate this gem of Detroit. Once a derelict building that was a huge eyesore this building has come to life. Love the new park in Front of the building. Welcome to Detroits comeback story.

I'm glad to share a short review of the beautifully renovated train station in Detroit, Michigan. This once-abandoned gem has been masterfully brought back to life and now stands as a captivating sight, especially when lit up at night. As you approach the station, the grand facade immediately catches your eye, blending historic charm with a modern touch. The architects have preserved its unique architectural elements while incorporating contemporary lighting features that add a mesmerizing glow to the surroundings. The play of light and shadows highlights the intricate details of the building, creating an enchanting ambiance that beckons both locals and tourists alike. The station's restoration has clearly been a labor of love, as every corner exudes an air of elegance and a sense of history. Walking inside, you'll be awestruck by the spacious interior that now serves as a bustling hub of activity. The grand hall has been transformed into a vibrant social space, with various shops, cafes, and cultural exhibits, making it a gathering place for people of all backgrounds. One has to see this building. It seems it’s in the middle of nowhere to be a train station but it’s magnificent architecture in a scale that is grand even for the times. I hope it’s restored in a respectful way so that it will be as grand as it was. I always wonder why buildings like this outlive their usefulness and are abandoned. But this is Detroit full of buildings with similar fates.

It’s not public at all, yet. And may not ever be, for all I know. It would be very nice if they showcase cars in the lobby someday as those of us old enough to remember saw in the Rotunda. But there is a huge amount of work going on. And the area is being revitalized. So, it’s all good. If you have not seen it in ten years, you’ll be amazed.

Being a Eyewitness to see the Wonderful past is always a Great Experience of your Life. The largest abandoned train station Michigan Railway Station was opened in 1914, Michigan Central Station has welcomed hundreds of trains every day. But over time, the number of railway traffic decreased and in 1988 the station was finally closed. What was once a busy transportation hub is now a ghostly reminder of the old Detroit. But the Ruins of a Abandoned Building still tells a Wonderful lavish past itself.....

I was actually going with the purpose of taking my selfie in the iconic place where the scene where superman died was filmed, but they were remodeling and it was impossible 😖

March 2023 … The multi-year renovation is stunning. The transformation is coming along very well. Such a beautiful and historic building. . Just as a point of reference… This image was taken with my iPhone 12 Pro Max. Apple’s computational photography provides a layer of photographic technology which enhances the final image with exceptional detail, color and light.

A very impressive building that the Ford family purchased to keep it standing as part of Detroit’s rich history. Refurbishing it back to its original look took 3+ yrs. It’s a must see when when in Detroit’s famous Corktown.

There's still plenty of work to do before this historic landmark will be ready to shine again. I was asked by a client to document their work replacing many of the tiles that cover the ceiling of the large vaulted spaces. Currently (June 2021) that space is entirely filled with a maze of scaffording, providing craftsmen access to the ceiling. Not yet safe for the public, but when it is it will be a spectacular sight to behold.

Was able to get in for the open house weekend at the train station. Would have been awesome to get in some of the other levels but I'm sure there were liability issues. Looking forward to the renovations and reopening.

This is a very historical place that has fallen from it's graces. But, there are a lot of construction going on there to bring it back to it's glory. It will be great to see the finished project.

There is not much left to see here. The old creepy building is gone and everything is modernized and rebuilt. Now in March 2022 there is only one big construction site. We may come back next year. Jezt it was just a waste of time!
