This is a pretty neat bridge! Quite the engineering marvel, that's for sure. Spanning across the Detroit River, the Ambassador Bridge links the major American City of Detroit, to its smaller Canadian counterpart Windsor. Both Cities are rich in their history, and have been tied together in the history books for years. This Bridge is a true symbol of the unity between Canada and the United States. The Upcoming Gordie Howe International Bridge will definitely make the Ambassador Bridge look puny, but the history of the Ambassador Bridge will keep it in the spotlight as a historic landmark for many years into the future.

It was a great experience to go over the bridge. The view of the city is good. Unfortunately a lot of traffic and lines

One of the best views of the Ambassador Bridge is from McKee Park.Opened in November 1929,it is the busiest international border crossing in North America in terms of trade volume, carrying more than 25% of all merchandise trade between United States and Canada.Total length 7500 feet.(2300m),Longest span 1850 feet (560m),Clearance 152 feet (46m).

There is work being done on the bridge so hopefully it will be great soon. As of now the rails are rusty and there are holes that you can see down to the ground on it. Im not sure what more to say. Its an international toll bridge with security and a duty free shop as well as public restrooms

Such a beautiful piece of architecture that connects USA to Canada. You can view Detroit and Windsor. The view is amazing. Since it’s an immigration checkpoint, expect lines, traffic and wait. We have waited in line from 20mins one time to 2 hours another time. There’s also a toll. The staff is nice and friendly.

Fantastic place to walk around the bridge by the water. You can rent scooters and drive all the way by the Detroit lake. Very stanning and attractive. Around the park there is a lot of unique sculptures. Beautiful spot for sunset photos. The bridge is so long you can see it very far. At night it's full of lights with gorgeous sity lights around. The only minus for me is that there is no place by to buy a water or a snack.

I wasn't on the bridge, I was under it, in the park that is. It's a beautiful, quiet place to read and I loved it. I will definitely be back.

Amazing. Go here if you need to clear your head. Idk why that shirts there but it's gross they should clean. Probably did and I walked up to it after. I mean i let everything pile up before I take care of it anyway sooo

The bridge is massive. It's 4 lanes, and it rises 152 feet above the Detroit River. You have to pay $7 U.S (C$6.30) at tollgates before you get on, and you deal with border patrol/customs at the end. I've always wanted to drive it, and now I can say I have. It's nothing special, though.

Entering Canada - smaller duty free store but clean and nice. Ladies at cash checked us out quick and had a smile on their faces. At the border 2 cars ahead of us. Border officer was great. Did the required checks but was polite.

Stopped by US DHS and quizzed before we crossed the bridge into Canada one Sunday morning in June 2023. Had us shut it off and get out of the car, a quick search of the car and we were on our way, no big deal. Stopped at duty free before crossing the bridge and filled up on gas (recommended - gas in Canada is sold by the liter and roughly equals US$5 per gallon). The bridge is beautiful and experienced no delays. CBSA officer in booth was pleasant, asked a few questions and in to Canada we went. Obligatory stop at McDonalds on Huron Church Rd. right off the Canada side in Windsor. Have since crossed back/forth two more times with no delays and security on both sides was cordial. Have your passport books or cards ready before you get to the booth and roll ALL windows down, especially if they are tinted. I prefer the bridge to the tunnel. See my picture of the bridge from Windsor riverwalk...

This bridge did make it far easier to cross the river in my car. I expect it is far more convenient than a ferry and safer than a giant jump. There was some construction and I did have to sit on the bridge for far longer than I would have liked due to customs; hence the loss of a star. I recommend some on bridge entertainment to pass the time. Kind of like how Universal Studios encorporates shows, videos, atmosphere, etc. into their long lines.

I have been crossing this bridge almost my entire life. After tonights crossing, attempting to surprise my Dad on his 81st Bday….this bridge has claimed so much of peoples valuable time in life. A private owned bridge between two countries should be illegal. Can’t wait for the Gordy Howe Memorial to open….perhaps the crossing cost will also be reasonable and much more efficient! RIP Ambassador Bridge, we loath you! 🀬🫀

Amazing bridge. Has been driving through this bridge twice. Once in 2018 and the second time occured in 2019

  • 1/5 Amber H. 1 year ago on Google
Horrible, made a wrong turn by mistake and the border police made everything so difficult. They felt they needed to have me step out of the car and they had to search it. Then on top of that they had to be snarky and rude. Overall, it was an interesting experience. I hope to never have to go through it again. God bless Canada and anybody else who has to experience that who come from Detroit or out of state.

I cross that bridge few times a month for past 13 years. It's been under construction for over 13 years , at the moment it's single lane so be prepared to wait , depending on how many custom gates are open you could wait 2 hours or more. best time to cross is between 10 pm to 5 am. Monday's are the busiest time. Duty free on both sides are over priced and under stocked , on US side most of the time run by one cashier and staff are least motivated and plain old lazy, lack of proper management .if possible blue water bridge is a better choice.

Great bridge. Customs staff were good. Traffic the way I was going was great. I got lucky. Only suggestion is having specific lanes for transport trucks and cars on the bridge. I saw many cars waiting in traffic stuck with trucks. Cars once cleared of the trucks were no longer delayed. I understand the trucks need to be there, but the system of moving vehicular traffic across the bridge could be improved. And this improve the economic stability across the region.

It's a beautiful place during the day but at night it's amazing the lights reflection on the water. 😍

Long wait time to cross the bridge at 1245am. As a trucker I’d like if they had all or most of all the lines going so I don’t have to wait 45 mins to cross at that time of night. If it was a weekend it’s usually much better but weekdays are not good. This is coming into Canada. Usually going out to US is not bad but of course it’s always hit or miss depending on the time your trying to cross.

Definitely our preferred bridge to cross over rather than driving through Buffalo. DUTY FREE is open 24h and almost always has the 3L bottles of Crown Royal we buy. The lines usually aren't long for cars but the entrance can get blocked by trucks during busy hours. If you find it's backed up going into Canada, you can go passed the exit and turn around and go on the otherside which is usually clear.

The prices are great. I get to fill up my gas before going into Canada. The bathrooms are always clean. The Bargin Center is awesome when you find a good deal also.

Really long wait times. But during the night trafiic is pretty low. U should be out on ur way in max 15 min

  • 1/5 Michael D. 11 months ago on Google
Would be great if they kept transport trucks accountable to their lane and they did not cause regular back ups for vehicles by blocking the commuter lanes.

My Experience for the first time in years was excellent and I was through very quickly. On my way in I made sure I had all my documents ready including vaccine records for entry to the US and on my way back I made sure the night before I did the arrive can . Had no issues and was through very fast.

71/2 hrs to cross back to Canada because rule to work order for custom officers. I can understand them but who will understand us as truck drivers. This is big threat to my livelihood. Hope it will be solved sooner than later.

Very crowded with an unimaginable long que of trucks with only single lane . We were certain that it would take atleast 3 to 4hrs to cross the bridge. However, within an hour or so, someone on border control opened the other lane and saved us. On the way back tunnel was much speedy and no wait time at all. Regretted taking the bridge on the way in

Small, serene area. Nice view on the waterfront which of course provides a nice breeze. Due to construction, it's not the easiest area to access.

Buying fuel without a "zip code" at the US side Duty Free is a hassle, but worth the work. Construction on the bridge and shear traffic volume can cause ridiculous waits so set your expectations low and you can only be pleasantly surprised.

Passing thru the border was easy with the proper paper work. From Canada to the US. duty free shop was a little run down and booze selection was limited. Good prices on perfume and maple cookies were fresh and very tasty.

Very busy in the weekends. Early times and during the weekdays are better options for those who want to cross the border and visit. Very friendly officers and quick in checking you in.

Horrible service at Canadian side Unfriendly border officer ... Simply rude lady She has my Canadian passport in her hands and asked about my citizenship in a rude way!!!!!!!!!!! Her way of question is provoking!!😝 If I were her manager, she would have been fired because of her disrespect and rude way with people It seems she's under training because she has another officer with her... She delayed the car before us for almost 10 mins and then she closed the window and moved to next one without asking the waiting cars to move to next opened window. She has no respect to waiting people and deals with them as if she owns the border and doing a favor to the waiting cars. We had to move to the next window in a non organized way. Date of incident, Monday January 2, 2023 Time of incident: around 9:30 - 9:45 pm I know for fact that no one will question or disciples her for her disrespectful act, rudeness and lack of professionalism.

I don't even know how to describe this place. It's bipolar. One day it's up and cheery and other times it's so depressing that you would mind driving of the bridge into the river.

  • 5/5 Senathirajah S. 1 year ago on Google
The biggest land crossing bridge I ever used.thinking about the structure I wonder how it managed the total weight of all those trucks which were congregated on the side leading to Canada at least 200 Trucks with a load of at least 35 to 40 tons. Some repairs were being done but they looked like just resurfacing

  • 1/5 Harj S. 1 year ago on Google
Good. They are still working on it. Still lane closed for construction I don’t know how many more decades for that. Trucks crossing with slapping mirrors of each other.

  • 5/5 MadhurendraS 1 year ago on Google
the duty free gas pump is a good deal...however sometimes the gas is cheaper at some other stations in detroit....though the gas here is always cheaper than that in windsor.....the bridge during rush hours takes more time than the tunnel....both the tunnel and the bridge have their pros and cons in terms of commute time...

  • 3/5 Henry F. 1 year ago on Google
The bridge is under construction so there was quite a long line up to cross into Canada. But once we got to the other side there were no vehicles in the Nexus Lane so we got across into Canada very quickly.

  • 5/5 Rheal C. 1 year ago on Google
The construction of the concrete and asphalt crossing over the bridge is getting better fast, the narrow single lanes are almost gone, YAHOO

  • 5/5 Michael G. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful experience with an amazing view on Detroit downtown from the bridge, the whole bridge along with infrastructure borders was overhauled and feels smooth.
