Giant Slide

Tourist attraction β€’ Amusement park ride

😠 It was fun until I decided to use wax paper to sit on. About 2 seconds into the slide I hit Mach 1 speed and was launched 120 ft in the air after hitting the second hump of the slide. I landed inside a KFC bucket on top of the restaurant across the street. Slide was awesome but I highly recommend no... People often mention slide, ride, people,

Didn't know that the sales cut off a half hour b4 closing at 3p on a Friday, but I did see that they let certain ppl ride without a tix as we arrived at the same time and they too did not purchase a tix and was able to ride. It wasn't us that got the chance to ride, but THEY did if you know what I mean. And one got to ride twice, Ijs. We're actually from here! And i/we didn’t want a free ride. We had money for my son to ride. πŸ’° The stars are for the lady at the front that held her end of the script✨️. One for bringing back the slide✨️ and the other for allowing ppl to linger inside until closing✨️. We'll come back again jus so my so my can have the experience, only. Now i'm done wit it!☹️ #madeindetroit #DetroitChik

We didn't get to see anybody get wrecked going down this behemoth, but we were able to see the shine from speed that destroys backs and necks of willing patrons. A monument at most, we were glad to catch a glimpse of what TikTok has made so famous on Belle Isle.

Giant Slide Yes. This is the famous slide where people got hurt. The videos have been going viral. Detroit tried some things to slow people down but it's still fast. Cray and fun. Highly Recommended

THIS SLIDE IS DANGEROUS! I'm sure you've seen the videos of kids flying in the air and smacking their heads on the metal when they land. This slide is a lawsuit waiting to happen. I'm surprised that one girl didn't get a concussion.

They need to bring back the plastic cover like the old slide it helps grip the slide and slows you down. But the slide is only for the old school riders 40 + we know how to ride the giant slide because we know how to keep our back in line due to our parents giving us spanking and discipline .

Slide is very fun and is usually open. Just be careful and know your limits. Some people could get hurt but it depends what number you go on. 6 is the fastest (Furthest from the stairs). And 5 and 4 depends on how much you weigh. They have more staff this summer and it's very cheap ($1). Perfect for a family. After the first bump on 4, 5 and 6 your butt just goes sore. But I usually don't mind, I only pay attention to the amusement.

Whatever genius carpetbagger was involved in the bid of this job got it due to campaign donations or some kind of favor because this was a first timer privitized contractor incident. It obviously was NEVER even tested. A RIDE FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS NEVER TESTED? It was because it went viral that they shut it down for a day or whatever. They changed something ignoring the math for assembly that obviously exist. It's disgusting. I saw children crying holding their heads from being slammed people holding onto their backs etc.. More than a few people got hurt. The lawsuits are coming I'm sure. DISGUSTING

I've seen a lot of people complain about this slide being "dangerous" Well to bad! Its a big slide what did you expect?! a smooth ride down?! Its a big ol bunch of metal and pain, but hey that's life. The slide is not an attraction it is a challenge, get used to it.

The infamous slide was a great experience! It was a fun, light-hearted, communal activity. Crowds cheering you on, hyping others up and at times, easing wounds. I would do this again! Leaning forward goes a long way.

There is a gate around this slide so it can look closed but it is usually open. Grab a grain sack, climb to the top, and have fun! Please be safe and never ride with a child on your lap (see YouTube for plenty of videos on why this is a bad idea on any slide!). Also know your children and what they are capable of. This slide is very high. It is awesome! It is fun! Be safe :)

Looks fun however it was closed when we arrived at 4:30pm on a Friday. The hours online say 7pm close time but that is not true. I would love to come back but I’m not sure if it’s worth another 2 hour drive just to find it closed again.

Spent my entire life building and operating adventure rides and this is a serious safety hazard. Cant believe it can be allowed to operate. My advice - don't let your kids anywhere near it.

5 and 6 are fastest.. You will fly off hurting your back. They must close these lanes. DO NOT ATTEMPT THESE LANES IF YOU ARE DOING IT THE FIRST TIME!

I don't understand how no one can follow instructions. LEAN FORWARD as long as u do that u will never leave the surface of the slide but if u get out of shape by the second hump ur screwed. Not one person I saw leaning forward ever took flight. Glad to see it back.

Ended up in pain. The slower lanes looked fun, but I wanted to try the faster lane. There was no warning as to what would happen, or the implications from riding the faster lane. The staff seemed to not be attentive to me and didn’t tell me any precautions. I ended up flying off the lane and landed on my thumb and lower back which now are injured and severely bruised. The staff should know about this!!! They should get rid of the faster lanes if you could easily fly off and smack down on it.

Tired of going there and the slide being locked up and nobody there to run it when it’s supposed to be open. Either change the hours listed on the website or start operating it like you say you will. It’s ridiculous. I’ve been telling my nieces about it for months and when we went today, it was all locked up. We waited from 12 until 1:30.

I got there on Saturday (9/11/21). An employee said "This slide has been closed for a decade." Doing waste your time if this is all you're looking for.
