This place is cool on so many levels. You enter through the alley, speakeasy style. Just look for the yellow neon sign and head on in. You'll see a U-shaped bar inside the first half of the building with some eclectic interior decor that adds to the cool factor. We ordered the Labamba drink and it was really good and strong enough to give us some liquid courage to sing karaoke. After picking a song from their playlist through their website, we grabbed our drinks and headed through the black curtain that revealed a dimly lit room except for the small spotlight on the stage and the Piano player. It gave me "Silencio" vibes from the movie "Mulholland Drive". (Google it) We had a great time performing on stage and bonding with the other patrons.

Great new and unique place to go Downtown. Intimate setting, cool vibe and fun. The drinks are tasty, classic-style. They can get costly but on par with most of the newer places Downtown. Staff was friendly and non-pretentious. Great place for a group or work party or for a date night & bar-hopping.

Don't waste your time! Unless you like being treated extremely rudely and disrespectfully. The entertainment idea was fun, but there are a lot of better places to go for overpriced drinks and be treated nicely like a customer should. In our case it was the host who sat people that couldn't have been more rude had he tried. We were told we had to leave because another reservation had arrived - which would have been fine if we knew ahead that our time was limited. To make it worse, he brought the next group to our table to stand around and stare at us before we could even sign the check and finish the rest of our drink. When we tried to have a polite conversation afterwards he said he didn't have time to discuss. Reading other reviews it sounds like this is a theme. NEVER AGAIN!

Definitely a great hole in the wall speak easy bar find. Great service. Josh and Wolf were amazing. Drinks were decently priced and tasted good. They have a karaoke with a pianist. You wouldn’t be disappointed with this place. Recommend this 10/10

I made a reservation for 12 people and there were 2 people in our group that were not there right on time and the male host would not seat us. He was very rude and disrespectful towards us. He was forcing us all to grab a drink at the bar while we wait for him to “possibly” make room for us to get back to the piano bar. After waiting 30 minutes we asked the host if we can be seated yet and he said “I need everyone in your group to have a drink in your hand before I can get you back there” then asked “do you want bottle service because then I can seat you”. There was never a problem with us buying drinks. We all wanted to stay and order drinks but to keeping telling us we need to buy drinks puts a bad taste in my mouth. It’s disappointing having a large reservation for a surprise birthday party and for them to not be accommodating as well as forcing us to buy drinks with no guarantee of us being seated. It’s a fun place but due to the rude staff it’s not worth it to go. We went to the belt and had way more fun and cheaper drinks!

Had an amazing night at Sid Gold’s Request Room. Sid’s Detroit, similar to its sister bar in NYC, has nothing but wonderful vibes and a great vintage feel. The bartenders and the super talented piano players make you feel welcome and right at home. Drop in for a drink and watch people sing from the audience singing along or get on up there and sing a number yourself. Don’t sleep on Sid’s!

This is a very unique experience. Certainly a throwback to the 30s and '40s. Bartenders are great. The piano player is fantastic and can play almost anything you can sing. You sing from the lyrics on a tablet and the piano player plays right beside you. Even the crowd will jump in if they know the words. So much fun

What a cool place! I describe it as a Speakeasy Piano Karaoke Bar. Packed and fun and quite a few very good singers. Make sure you go around the building and down the alley to find the entrance. Fun fun place!

Love the bar itself, but the manager is so incredibly rude. We had my surprise engagement party there and rented the room for 2.5 hours. You could tell he wanted us to hurry up, even when we still had an hour left of the room reserved. He was cleaning up our stuff constantly and forcing us out of tables and charging people for drinks (including father of the bride who paid for the whole night). I would recommend not hosting anything there. Multiple people complained about him that night. The karaoke is very fun, but just wish they had a different manager!

I had a pretty good time here. Relatively low-key bar, and an excellent spot for a semi upscale, casual drink and live entertainment with a date. I'd highly recommend booking a reservation at least one month in advance, and prepare to buy one bottle of champagne for the night. And when you book your reservation, make sure you book it after 9:30 p.m. on the weekends to enjoy the live pianist.

This place is tucked away and we just happened to see a sign. The piano karaoke is so much fun. Not something we've seen before. The gentleman that was running everything was great at organizing tables. The piano player is really amazing and made the night super fun. You should definitely check this place out.

My partner & I had a wonderful experience at Sid Gold’s! Eddie (who I believe was the manager) took really good care of us when we walked in without reservations. Got us seats right up front. The cocktails were exquisite. Jarrod (the piano man) was amazingly talented & fun. Even the audience members who got up & sang karaoke blew my socks off. I was in tears after the first few performances. It was so nice to be in a room full of strangers who were so encouraging & kind to one another for the love of music!

Speakeasy feel Interior is a blast from the past. Last time I seen plastic on the sofa was at my aunt's house. Drinks are good and reasonably priced. Laid back vibe. Karaoke is song with piano background so definitely different. Hidden gem off the alley.

The venue itself is great but I'm leaving a one star review because a worker (Carl) literally started an argument with my sister over the amount she tipped during a New Year's celebration. She asked him how much he wanted to be tipped but I told her to let it go because it's already rude enough that he decided to bother her about it. I ended up arguing with him telling him we had already tipped him over a hundred dollars for drinks ($15 dollars for water at one point) and to let it go because we didn't mean to slight him, but this man went on a power trip and threatened to call the owner on us for not tipping his requested amount and continued harassing my sister while she was already breaking down crying. Whole new year's experience was pretty soured after that and I don't want to go to this bar anymore after associating it with that unpleasant memory. I have never once in my 30 years of life encountered such a childish bar patron.

First time here - such a great experience! Cocktails were impressive! The vibes were high with our group and we melted in with all the vibes Sid golds had to offer! Especially the cocktails from Mr Wolfe. Great night out for a group in Detroit :)

Cool vibe and atmosphere, but service was poor and drinks are pricey for what you get. Staff would stand around, not look you in the eye and did not give off a welcoming or cheerful attitude. Would like to try it again to see if maybe it was just an off night, but I’m not itching to go back. Other places downtown offer better experiences.

Swanky addition to the downtown nightlife scene. We were only able to sit at the bar in the front room because a large group had just entered and filled the back karaoke room. We did walk through though and the piano player was impressive and it looked like everyone was having fun. The decor is lovely. Vintage but not kitschy. It's a little pricey but really nice. I would go back and try to get into the back room. I can't sing to save my life but it would be fun to watch.

I am one of the pianists here; I love going to this gig. We have great fun! They don’t serve food; there are great options nearby.

Great experience here! The karaoke is an actual piano man playing live! The piano man was awesome, and he helps you a lot during the song by modifying the key according to your tone! We had a blast here last time that we went into the city.

Amazing venue, This is a hidden gem and has such a fun vibe, classic horseshoe bar with a nostalgic feel of prohibition speakeasy type vibe with hidden room in the back with Piano Karaoke. So cool! talk with the host to find a space in the back room or make a reservation online before coming as it is a small intimate space

Fun spot. We thought it was a piano bar where the person sings and plays, but turns out you have to sing and as predicted, most everyone is bad at singing.

Unfortunately I wish I could give more than two stars but the gentleman that was working, also wearing a bow tie last night was so rude and unprofessional. Not sure on his name but if you’d like a better turn out I’d fire him instantly. Cool atmosphere but the man that was seating people ruined the entire night

Absolutely the most amazing piano karaoke bar I have ever been too! Went for Bachelorette party, it had this 20s vibe and had the most Amazing vibe! The girls and I had a great time! Will definitely be going again!

This place is EXTREMELY “hit or miss.” When it’s on, it’s one of the more fun bars in the Detroit area. When it’s off, it’s an excruciating time. The bartender who has been there all four times we’ve gone has been great, but he gets very easily distracted with certain customers and spends all of his time with them. The ambience is great, the drinks are good, and when it isn’t packed, it’s a downtown Detroit gem. But as I eluded to, you have to be lucky enough to go on a night where it isn’t crowded. Even cheap beers are expensive here, but you’re paying for the atmosphere more than anything. Nonetheless, a really fun bar to check out.

It was awesome. A wonderful experience and I came in about 70% sure I wouldn't even sing, but I did 3 or 4 songs. The environment makes you want to sing and have fun. Dark room but it lightens the mood. They do what they do well. I'm very impressed

Awesome vibe, we were lucky enough to grab a spot in the back at the piano bar on a Saturday night. We had a great time with the piano player and some fun karaoke. This isn't your typical corner bar drunk Karaoke. The crowd felt hip, a few larger parties (bachelorette) and a good mix of quality singers and typical crowd pleasers. We're definitely coming back with a group! Note on busy nights they try and rotate folks in and you have a 2h reservation window. When our time was up we transferred to the main bar and continued our night. We're looking forward to coming back soon!

This place was just amazing! A retro atmosphere with a great piano/karaoke room. Thanks to John who helped us plan a surprise musical appearance for our friends 50th Anniversary. All ages will love the cool vibe!

Good atmosphere, respective patrons, and fun entertainment room when you enter. The three bartenders in the bar when you enter were professional and attentive. I would advise checking your bill before you leave, one bartender, older gentleman, tends to not be transparent with his colleagues, and overcharge when he doesn't get a good tip. He's the older, white gentleman. Buyer beware.

I love this place! The server guy was very friendly, the vibes were amazing all around. The crowd was hype whenever we got on stage. And the pianist was DOING HIS THING!! I can confidently say I will be back and will be bringing more friends aswell.
