Went for the holiday lights show this past weekend. Very very impressive. They did a tremendous job in putting this together. All the guides were trained and knowledgeable in answering any of our groups questions. Bought tickets online and I would really recommend doing so. Very efficient and organized! Worth the price of admission!

As a wedding photographer, I've had the privilege of visiting Meadow Brook Hall often for both photoshoots and events, and I can confidently say it is a masterpiece of a venue. The staff is incredibly nice every time and the grounds are so beautiful!

This was incredible. The lights were amazing, and we were lucky enough to go on a warm-ish night (12/23/2021). The tickets included both outside and inside. A total wonderful perk was that they were selling hot cocoa (optionally with Bailey's!) and other yummy things on the tour route. Highly recommend, and can't wait to do again.

Winter Wonder Lights was a nice event, some lights were sync to music the displays were beautiful, parking if you have to park up on the hill they have a shuttle bus so be prepared if you have older people or kids with wagons ECT. The light walking path are stone and are a bit uneven I spent a lot of time watching where I walked I have bad knees that was a bit disappointed. They have concessions at the start hot chocolate and cocktail for adults, fun light toys for purchase some snacks popcorn, chocolate cover pretzels, somores kit to roast at the fire, prices are what you would expect .You have access to a small part of the mansion with a huge replica Gingerbread house of the mansion on display. There is a gift shop with nice Christmas items. Check in is super easy we completed it all in hour and 15 minutes!

A true gem to visit!! We did two tours back-to-back & I'd highly recommend this option. First we went to the very first guided house tour of the day & we followed up with the guided behind-the-scenes tour. You get see the main parts of the historic house in the regular tour & then see how the house was run and how the staff got around in the behind-the-scenes tour. Just be aware that there are a lot of stairs in that tour. There was a wedding on the day we went so we couldn't do much exploring of the grounds, but we'll be back!! Update 11-24-23: We attended the Winter Wonder Lights tour & LOVED IT!! I would highly recommend it!! We went to the 8:30pm tour, which was dark enough to enjoy all the lights. It is 75% outdoors, so I would suggest bundling up or picking a warm night/evening! It's a self-guided tour, so once you're in, you can take your time & enjoy the tour at your own pace. And there are workers all around to guide you & answer questions.

This is an absolute must see if you're going to be in the area. Expect to spend 1 to 3 hours at the estate depending on your tour, weather and grounds conditions. You can also do a quick walk around in 15 to 20 minutes. I like to walk through the Japanese Garden from the parking lot to the house. It is a much more dramatic reveal when you walk around the end of the garage and the view of the house opens up.

We attended for the Christmas Lights and it was absolutely spectacular. The grounds are stunning themselves and with the addition of lights and decor it was truly magical. We definitely will be booking a regular tour to get the full scope!

Absolutely stunning architecture. Beautiful maintained and expertly decorated. We went for a Christmas lights event and were completely impressed. The lights danced to the music, the interior of the buildings was beautiful. It felt like stepping back in time meets beautiful Christmas decoration!

Very impressive mansion. Gardens are gorgeous in the summer. This winter they are hosting a wonderful holiday light show. The lights were very bright, colorful, and animated. What a sight ! There was a food vendor with hot cider, drinks and a variety of hot food including brats, hot dogs, soup etc. The show included a brief tour indoors. The house was well decorated for the holidays and it gave you a chance to warm up a little :-)

One of the 4th largest homes in the US and an incredible story of hard work, luck and extravagant opulence. Want to see how the other half loved while the country was struggling through the great depression, here it is in glorious detail. Truth be told it was a fantastic journey into the lives of the uber wealthy. The lady of the house has an amazing back story and would recommend you learn more about her. Worth a visit.

There unfortunately was a charge when I came here in order to enter in just to see the gardens. Usually they are free to enter but they were holding a flower decor event in which they marketed it for adults but in reality it was far more for small and young children. It was definitely a sight to see but definitely not for me, the hall was also open and apart of the $25 charge. The main reason why it wasn't for me was because the flower exhibits they had really didn't incorporate many flowers if any at all a lot of it was just props. Which again would've been really fun for children. They also don't have expansive gardens and not nearly as focused on the gardens but more so the history of the hall, the mansion. An important side note*** if you have respiratory issues or are sensitive to mold please do take this into account when sight seeing inside of the hall/mansion.

A hauntingly beautiful historic gem. By far one of my favorite places in all of Michigan. I have been to Meadow Brook Hall so many times over the years - first with my Grandmother when I was a child, and now I'm taking my own kids there. No matter how many times you go, there is always something you missed before that is new. The attention to detail in the architecture and design is like that of the estates of European aristocracy. A beautiful place for weddings, a gorgeous display around the holidays, stunning gardens in the warmer months, and in the fall the gardens are the aesthetic of a living Virginia Woolf poem. Such an incredible place for photography.

You can take a guided tour inside for a fee, and walk around the garden for free. The gardens are very well maintained with so much attention to detail with colors, textures and height. It is a great place for a wedding, or just a stroll on a sunny day. There was music playing through speakers in the main pavilion as you enter, just adds to the lovely ambiance.

My husband and I did both the Guided House tour and the Behind The Scenes tour. I recommend doing both in that order. The House tour gives a good tour of the standard rooms of the house, along with a lot of history and information about each room. The Behind The Scenes tour guides guests to places not generally seen, like servants areas, hidden staircases, and private areas of the home. All of our tour guides were outgoing and offered up so much interesting information. Allow one hour to one and a half hours for each tour, depending on size of group and number of questions. Also, don't miss seeing the children's playhouses outside! You can go in and look around. I definitely recommend this place! So beautiful!

Very pretty venue with lots to see and learn the history of the estate. We were there for a wedding which was a good space for 80 or so people. Staff was always kind and helpful. Before dinner appetizers and the meals in general were fantastic. Probably some of the best wedding food we've had. This is a perfect place for anyone looking for a unique wedding experience.

Meadow Brook Hall. This was NOT our first time coming here, it's usually locked down, but today, it was open. It needs to be open more often. We did some looking around. It needs some cleaning up. Also a re-paint would help. Just needs some love. I would give it more stars, but the place REALLY needs some love. Recommended if you have not seen a big castle. A real castle.

Well worth a tour. Friendly, knowledgeable docents in every room. Presently decorated for Christmas, Meadowbrook is amazing. We'll be returning in Spring to tour the grounds.

The holiday walk through was very nice. About $6 more per adult than I'd expect to pay - which adds up quickly, but still a nice self guided tour.

We absolutely loved going here for the Christmas lights and tour through the house. We brought our kids and they loved it too. There is quite a bit of walking through the gardens for the lights so bundle up if it's cold. Bathrooms are only at front entrance. Very clean trailer with 3 stalls. No indoor bathroom though because of the age of home. We definitely look forward to coming back to take the full tour. Would love to spend time reading and looking at everything in the house for a longer period.

We booked the luncheon and tour for $35/person December 11, 2021. Lunch was chef-inspired-amazing!!! The food was excellent and the service was stupendous!!! And of course, the tour is always awesome! During the Christmas season, out by the cabins and dollhouse, they had real REINDEER that you could pet and view. It was really amazing, especially for the little kids that we had with us--amazing for the adults too! And don't forget to stop in the gift shop, they have really good wine that is quite inexpensive for how good it is, and a lot of the gifts are really nice but inexpensive. This is a yearly event for us--HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! 😚 ♥️

I do this tour every year. This year I did the light show as well. While it's very well done, it isn't very long to get through and the price is a bit steep. But at the same time worth it!

Great place to visit at least once. The self guided tour was great as they have staff everywhere and will tell you everything, and answer any questions you may have. It's like a mini trip back in time seeing old furnitures and decor back in the day!

Went back to wonderful Meadowbrook hall for the Winter Wonder Lights celebration. Beautiful! Dazzling display, great weather, concessions were nice, bathrooms clean, excellent experience. If you've never been to Meadowbrook, don't hesitate! The interior is amazing and the grounds are lovely. Recommended!

I love stopping at this place when I get up into Michigan. It is such a beautiful home and has a few different tour options for the avid history lover or just a casual traveler on a fun trip. You must get your tickets in advance from their website and it looks like (at the time of this posting) a regular adult ticket was only $15. I am excited to come back around Christmas time to see the holiday tour and then also for the new winter wonder lights event. 😊 can't wait to visit again.

Very cool place to visit. It was nice to learn about the Dodge brothers (and family) who I hadn’t heard much about before. The grounds are beautiful and the tour is definitely worth it. The tour guides were open to questions and definitely knew their history on the house and the Dodge family.

My family and I visited Meadow Brook Hall for their Holiday Walk indoor event. It was a self guided tour through the estate to view all of the rooms set up and decorated for the holidays. While the event was slightly crowded, it forced you to slow down a bit and actually look at all of the beautiful sights around you, from architecture to hidden rooms, to Christmas lights and story telling. There was even a scavenger hunt set up for kids, and they received a prize at the gift shop for completing it. The entire tour took about an hour, and they do have a COAT CHECK, which might really help some people out. Overall, the event was affordable, and it was a great day to out with my family, so I definitely recommend it.

Let me start by stating the obvious. Meadowbrook Hall is simply amazing. Upon walking up to it, you immediately know it's a special place just by observing its exterior and size. The garage out front as a gift shop is a neat touch. We came to Meadowbrook for their Holiday Walk around the mansion. 50 trees or so, all decorated throughout made this visit extra special. The history and write ups for the rooms are still there, so you can read about the Hall, even during the special holiday set ups that they do. The price I thought was steep before hand, but after seeing it, it was well worth it. We spent 1.5 hours here with my wife and 5 year old, who also both loved it. Lots of great picture opportunities, especially at the Christmas specials, in front of the many trees, with Santa or in the sleigh. Anyways, don't think twice about coming here. It's well worth your money and more importantly well worth your time. 5/5. Follow me for more reviews, tips or photos. ✌🏻

I had the opportunity to shoot a wedding at meadow Brooke hall this past summer.(Emma Varley Photography) This venue was absolutely breathtaking. Not only is this historical site kept beautifully it but it also is full of so many hidden treasures where couples can go get photos taken. I was absolutely amazed by this classic venue and would recommend it to any couple!

One of the best historical tours in Michigan! We visited at 11 am on Saturday, April 15th and our tour lasted about an hour. Only two other people besides us on the tour. Building and grounds are well taken care of, and not much has changed since my days at OU, when I last did the tour. If you go in the spring, you’ll see the daffodils and magnolia blossoming. Throughout the year, they hold numerous events, and last August we enjoyed going to the Amadeus concert, which included a self-guided tour that we missed out on due to the rain. Glad we could make up for it this year!

If you are thinking of going and visiting the house, don't think anymore. Just do it. It's worth seeing. The tours were great, and the docents were very knowledgeable. The grounds are beautiful. The playhouses are an extra special part of the whole experience. We enjoyed all of it, and I can't believe I have never been before.

Beautiful auto baron mansion. The docents were very informative on their tour, and we saw many of the rooms. The house has been very well maintained, and you can wander about the grounds to see the cottages built for the Dodge children.

It is such a treat to visit this historical landmark, especially in Christmas. Every year designers come in and decorate each room with the same ornaments but different themes. Meadowbrook was built with extreme detail and every time you go you see something new and fascinating.

Came here for an outdoor wedding on a beautiful Labor day weekend. The wedding was gorgeous at the mansion and the after ceremony bar outside was gorgeous. We then moved into a tent for the reception which was not as nice but was good. The views here are gorgeous, the mansion is amazing. Missed the tour unfortunately.

I honestly thought this place would be rather boring, that I'd go inside, see some history, and that's that. But it was so much more than that! It was beautifully decorated in every room. It had a scavenger hunt and free hot cocoa, and it was not only enjoyable but also educational. I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys the feeling of another time, wonderful architecture and amazing displays. 👍👍👍

We loved this event. We had Valentine's day dinner. This was one of the best evenings we have had anywhere in Michigan. Food was the best. Service was over the top. We also walked around the building and had each person along the way tell us the history of that area.

  • 5/5 Ron M. 4 years ago on Google
We thoroughly enjoyed our full day tour of this magnificent Mansion, Meadow Brook Hall, which is a Tudor Revival style mansion that took 3 years to build (1926-1929). It was by Matilda Dodge (Wilson) the Dodge Automaker Heiress and her 2nd husband, Alfred Wilson, a lumber baron. This huge home has 110 rooms and is the 4th largest historic mansion museum in the United States. Plan plenty of time to tour the grounds and building. You must purchase a tour ticket and follow your guide. Public Restrooms and plenty of parking available. The Mansion is also available for special events, weddings, etc. Too add to my above comments: There were two Dodge Brothers, both contracted Spanish fever and will die from it. John Dodge in 1920. Well John's 1st wife had died from tuberculosis, so he secretly marries his maid then divorces her couple years later, then marries his secretary Eleanor and he dies. His wife Eleanor and sister-in-law sell the Dodge auto company for today's equivalent of $ 2 billion! Eleanor remarries a lumber baron Alfred Wilson and will inherit his fortune as well when he dies! They build this 110 room mansion and it's a doozey! Eleanor was making $ 40,000 PER DAY in the 1920s from her investments! Check out the Tiffany lamps, light fixtures. Uranium based glassware that glows in the dark, liquor cellar with all bottles from Pre-Probition. So much wealth! Got to meet the President running the place. Neat. A lot going on here! A must visit! Kindly click the like button if this review or my photos are useful.
