On a Sunday my son aspirated on a piece of food (he was fine after a few coughs) but the next morning he was having a hard time breathing. I took him in to Childrenā€™s (pulse ox was mid 80s) and let them know that he had aspirated on a piece of food the day before. They said that it was a virus and/or asthma. They gave my son three breathing treatments and a steroid and sent us on our way. A few days later he still was not breathing right so I took him to Motts hospital instead. (Even though the doctors told me he was fine I knew something wasnā€™t right with my baby.) As soon as I told them he aspirated on a piece of food they sent him to get an x-ray. The x-ray revealed that there was indeed food in his lung. At that time he was rushed into emergency surgery. The tissue in his lungs started to grow around the piece of food and they had to cut it out. My 11 month old son was on a ventilator for days after the surgery. Accidents happen and I know that we are all human. However this horrific and traumatic experience couldā€™ve all been avoided if childrenā€™s would have properly treated him in the first place. They should have gave him an x-ray when I told them that he had aspirated. They ignored me and this resulted in one of the worst experiences of our life and possibly lifelong damage for my son. Only time will tell. Speak up for your babies.

This is real sad for children hospital to be slow to children pain. My daughter crying hold her stomach for almost 2 hours crying so hard she was exhausted by her pain and the wait was ridiculous. From my understanding urgency patient go ahead but thatā€™s not the cast she is the only one in tears. I guess you have to be visible having blood coming from somewhere in your body or gun shot patient something they can see other than that it not an emergency. I just went to another hospital.

This hospital is a joke ! If you worry about your children's health, don't go there !! I was there today for my baby after being transfered by another hospital who told us he would be taken care of in a children's hospital. He needed a respiratory treatment and to take tylenol regularly. We waited 5 hours in the emergency room just to see a doctor !!! 5 hours ! Can you just imagine a baby having difficulty to breath and crying, waiting 5 hours in a waiting room full of sick children with different viruses, not being able to lay down and without being considered by the staff? They didn't even check to see if he was fine or if he needed a snack or something to drink !!! After 6 hours, the doctor finally told us he can go home ! We had to wait 2 more hours and they didn't even gave us the discharge documents yet!!! So we stayed there 8 hours for nothing!!! "Emergency room".. yea okay ! This hospital is a big joke! It was my first and last time here !! Plus there was plenty of empty rooms, but they treat their patient in a hallway?? Where is the privacy??? I was able to hear every patient's disease, their treatment, etc There are absolutely no professionalism and humanity in this hospital !! What a shame !

My daughter spent almost 3 days here. I would give this hospital 1 star if it wasn't for the doctors and nurses. The doctors and nurses here are pretty great. Very knowledgeable and kind. Other than that this place is terrible. My daughter's room was "cleaned" right before we moved into in. Her floor was so sticky it almost pulled your shoes off, clearly the floor hadn't been mopped in who knows how long. The corners where the floor and wall meet were caked with an inch of black gunk, the crib, tables and counters were all sticky. There were used tissue stuffed behind the rolling night stand, it was disgusting. As I said before, doctors and nurses were great. Every other employee I came in contact with was awful they. This is a stressful time enough for a parent yet security is incredibly rude when checking in, anyone else on the floor acts like they are being inconvenienced when you ask for a new gown, cleaning supplies or simply to speak to a nurse or doctor. Very poor experience.

ER is complete disaster, dirty, over crowded, no cleaning crew. Trash all on floor. Hours of waiting. There is no excuse for making people wait hours and hours to see a dr. No one checks in with patients to give an update. Kids will get sick waiting in this place!!! Will not be coming here again!

Iā€™m so disappointed with this hospital. My son had Covid and he had wheezing issues . I was so lucky to take him to Henry ford hospital to give him steroid , Motrin and breathing treatment before they transported me here . Other wise, my son wouldā€™ve cried all night just to get a room here. We came here at 2:40 am and got a ROOM at 8:00 am. We slept in the hallway ,The nurses were telling me the longest wait is 7 hours . I couldnā€™t believe it , our kids would be on there death bed by that time . Some babies had it worse with breathing complications , coughing with Covid and still didnā€™t have a room and got treated . I was mind boggled .

Update: still being told NOT to pay the bill, but still being sent multiple bills and told to pay. Which is it?! Also, it's now 4 months post surgery, and we still haven't heard from anyone for our follow up (that was supposed to be 6 weeks after the procedure). Our daughter still suffers from issues the surgery was supposed to fix, but when no one cares to speak with us, there is no solution. Very poor customer service on all ends. Earlier review: I don't know where to start. I will say that the procedure my daughter had went well and the staff were very nice. But that's where the goodness ends. It is almost IMPOSSIBLE to speak with someone on the phone. We were supposed to have a phone follow-up after her surgery, but no one ever answered the phone. We left a message and made more calls....nothing! And since the procedure, our daughter has had continuing issues (that the procedure was supposed to fix), so it'd be nice to actually discuss that with the doctor. And then billing.... We were quoted an amount for the procedure and set up a plan to pay. Then we were sent about 10 other bills which all seemed to be for the same procedure. When we called, the lady on the phone said don't pay anything because it was all under review. So we didn't pay. A week later. We get a notice that if we don't pay we'll go into collections. So we called back and they said we always have to pay and thay no one should have told us not to pay (NOT our problem when YOUR staff member told us that). So when my husband asked about the actual amount we were supposed to pay, they didn't know. Since then, he can never get anyone to answer the phone. BIG problems here, and we will NEVER use this hospital again.

Spent 2 weeks here with my 5 week old son who was bleeding pure blood when he would stool. I called the ER to make sure they had a bed for my son they said yes, showed up and my son was in the middle of an episode since heā€™d been bleeding for weeks and kept being turned away he was anemic. I explained To the triage showed them his diaper full of blood and they said ā€œwait for a bed we have none openā€ even though i called. So we jumped in the car and drove to Henry Ford 19 mile where they admitted my son for 3 days and transported him back to childrens in Detroit. They put us on floor 6 where they took WAY too much blood from my already anemic new born. Even the nurses thought it was way too much. My son ended up have NEC they finally took him to the NICU the surgery team expressed that he needed to be on NPO and suction through his nose to keep his stomach clear for 8 straight days! Well the nicu team came in 3 days later and said they all had a meeting and said it was ok to take him off, give him meds, and start feeds on formula because my breast milk was the reason for all this (even tho all his allergy test came back negative) they started to prep him for feeds and surgery came running up saying they never approved this. I asked For all this to be documented and it didnā€™t of course cause they messed up. My sons pick line failed once after they tried to put it in 2x and then it fell out they tried 4x even tho I told the nurse DO NOT do anything without telling me if it fails more than once CALL ME. TWO HOURS I sat in the lobby crying waiting cause they donā€™t let you in during those. She calls me back and said she tried 4x and couldnā€™t get it. So they put an IV in his scalp. I dont Have enough space but this stay was a complete nightmare didnā€™t trust not a single one. Their ā€œallergyā€ they had no test to prove ended up being not true. We ended up staying another week at UOFM where he got AMAZING care and they didnā€™t blame it on something it wasnā€™t. They had men running around the nicu at 2am they got past security down stairs and got into the locked nicu. My nurse had to help kick them out. Just a sad, scary, untrust worthy experience. They even denied me a transfer when i asked To go to UOFM telling me i cant Transfer to another level 3 even tho they never asked my insurance for the transfer. Terrible terrible experience GO TO UOFM

This hospital is nasty. There's full trash bins everywhere with trash falling out. Trash all over the floors and in the chairs. From the way the inside looks you'd think you would catch something sitting in the waiting room. I don't feel like all my concerns were addressed. It sucks that a children's hospital, or any hospital of that matter would look the way this one does. It's a shame. You'd think from all the negative reviews that the hospital would do some improving. Apparently not. The something other people were complaining about months/years ago are the same complaints being made to date.

Although a lot of the comments here say the ER wait is long, I guess I was VERY lucky to have my son seen very fast. It literally took less than 5minutes. I think every nurse I came across here for the past few days were very sweet and caring. They made sure me and my son was comfortable since we been here. I definitely had a more positive experience today than I did in the past. Iā€™m very grateful I came here again. They is doing a great job with my son. I couldnā€™t be more thankful. Hopefully when we go home tomorrow the experience stay the same.

My son has had two surgeries at Children's hospital. The first time we arrived and were told by check in counter that we had to pay our full deductible or my son would not be taken back. After telling the desk numerous times that we have an HRA plan and that clearly the amount was incorrect they refused to budge. The nurse was literally standing there and they would not let my son seek medical care until we paid. Knowing of this situation and not having an option to use another company for the next surgery I was proactive. My insurance company twice reached out to the billing department at the Detroit location and they said they understood. We arrive at 5:30AM for registration and the whole room is packed for surgery. We are called to register and the same thing, they have no proof anyone called and argued with me that I had to pay $1600. After going in a circle for 20 minutes I had to give up and pay for a payment plan. I thought it was illegal to refuse care? I have been to numerous Beaumont's and Ascension hospitals that do not make you pay your whole deducible upfront. Unfortunately the doctor office we used only did surgeries out of Children's. I will never ever return. I will drive as far as I need to avoid this company. God forbid your child has to come to the emergency room here because they would literally not see the child until you paid the made up amount they have. Shame on you Children's Hospital.

There is a really nice lady sitting at the greeting desk named Michelle. She does not get to take a lunch, and she cannot eat at the desk. This is illegal. She is working a full shift and it is unlawful not to provide breaks and lunch. She is helpful and very polite and when I offered to get her something she had to refuse. Please treat your staff better!!

Even 1 star is to much. This is something incredible. They are called children hospital but they treat children worse than animals. Children are screaming non stop and they donā€™t care. No reaction. They donā€™t even try to come them down. Every second person is a student. They donā€™t know what to do and practice on you. Never in my life Iā€™ll come back here. Rude personal and very bad place at all.

Being asked to pay close to $6000 upfront for my sons surgery, which I know will lead to then owing us money. In following up asking for the status of the claim, I was given two different answers from both agents, ultimately which led to them saying they areā€œrebillingā€ the insurance. Mind you they say that will take 30-45 days. So they take my money no problem, but will take their sweet time in insuring I am billed properly and issuing a refund. I will no longer schedule any of my sons surgeryā€™s here moving forward.

For whatever reason, every time I come here w/ my (preemie) infant they take literally nothing serious and have me waiting for FOUR hours. Not only did he have to go on a Cpap w/ low oxygen but had to stay overnight. Came again yesterday and didnā€™t get seen for 4 hours, sat in the room for three more under the impression my kid would get labs. Nurse never checked on him, despite me constantly asking for help. Was told by the doctor that my baby was ā€œforgotten aboutā€ and that she was ā€œso sorryā€. This is an ER for a reason. You're better off going to Motts!!

Forth floor cardiology patient room floors are disgusting...a simple daily mopping everyday should be routine. Then for some reason after we saw one doctor who communicated well, upon leaving said he was going get another doctor to dismiss us. Very confusing, especially, when the second doctor that came barely placed the stethoscope on chest before berating us with non heart questions as if we dnt have a primary care physician.

Unfortunately by far this morning was a nightmare. I traveled over 45 mins to childrenā€™s. ER lobby staff were great beyond those doors the nightmare started. LACK OF COMMUNICATION WOULD BE AN UNDERSTATEMENT. I was placed into a room for four hours within the four hours a chest X-ray took place. The X-ray tech explained that results would be ready within 30 minutes. We arrived at the hospital at 8:07am X-ray took place around 10:00/10:30am. I spoke to a total of four resident staff who took vitals but never communicated results. At 1:52pm finally I was beyond frustrated with the service. I stepped out to speak with a doctor. I expressed my concerns for the lack of communication and empathy for child and parent. There was an apology offered by the doctor. I explained I never received the results of the X-ray. The doctor went on to say there was a foreign object shown on the X-ray. Followed by he has an upper respiratory infection. Iā€™m going to send a nurse back for vitals. Once the nurse arrived I expressed my concerns about my sonā€™s body temperature. She asked when did he have Tylenol last. I responded at 5:45 AM. The nurse said she would give him Motrin because his temperature was 100.1. The nurse returned with the Motrin and then explained that his heart rate was elevated so at this point weā€™re just waiting for his temperature to break and heart rate to go down. My frustration behind this whole visit is why did I have to say something about his temperature. Once the doctor returned I asked him at one point you said that you didnā€™t have the results of the x-ray. Within in seconds you tell me that there was a foreign object shown on the x-ray. Which statement is accurate doctor? The doctor responded by saying oh what I shouldā€™ve said is that weā€™re looking to see on the x-ray if there was an foreign object present. I understand thereā€™s a learning process for everyone. The process should have went a little like this. The x-ray shouldā€™ve been shown to me explaining all findings. The x-ray was never shown. After vitals were taken the last time I was told that my son would be discharged. Recommendations for a follow up within three days with his pediatrician. I waited for another 30 minutes on discharge papers. Another nurse opens the door to say he sleep does he take naps in the evening I replied to her saying weā€™ve only been here since 8 oā€™clock this morning the time now is 2:30pm. I was offered something to drink for a kid thatā€™s asleep. Needless to say I didnā€™t stick around to receive discharge papers. I was so disgusted with the place and poor service I just left. I must say the service 30 years ago was exceptional. Safety and service should be top priority. Hopefully things will improve. I must say I wonā€™t be returning no time soon.

They make you pull a 9+ hour shift. Go to the suburbs if you can. You might get better and expedient service. Don't mess with Detroit Children's hospital. They took 4 white families In while all us minority ppl sat in the hall and watched them get services. Don't know what's going on other the babies are sick. Our babies are sick too. And still we wait and wait and freaking wait 9+ hours . Is this normal. He'll to the no. Won't ever go back!

"Shame on you Childrens Hospital" you shouldn't even have the privilege of working with children. My nephew was transferred from Urgent Care, via car, to your hospital. In severe pain, and a blood pressure of 154/88. HE IS ONLY 7 YEARS OLD. You made him wait 2 HOURS. To take him back. Then another hour and a half to see a doctor. They finally gave him nausea medicine and Motrin. He was crying and doubled over in pain, throwing up, diary, and you give him Motrin?? Ridiculous !! Then the ultrasound tech, does complete lower half ultrasound but not the appendix, which was ordered. So he has to be done again, while in all that pain. He told his mom let's go home, because he didn't feel like they cared. THATS SAD!! You send him home saying he has Acid Reflux. NO HE HAS A SEVERE GASTROINTESTINAL BACTERIAL INFECTION!!!! Which you didn't even test for! THANK GOD, my niece took him to a REAL DOCTOR! Who diagnosed him, did blood work, got a stool sample, etc. HE IS ON THE MEND!

17 open-heart surgeries, and surpassing 3 life expectancies this hospital has saved my life countless times! I was born with Post-Op Detransposition of the Great Aorta. This heart condition is so rare that's it's only shared by LESS than a handful of people from around the world. First surgery was when I was 4 hours old, it's was 22.5 hours long and didn't go home until I was 14 months old. My mom and dad literally lived in the Ronald McDonald house next too Children's and would take turns spending the night in the hospital next to my bedside. As I got older, the more surgeries I had. I've come to know alot and very knowledgeable about my heart condition. My pictures, my story, my heart condition, etc has been shared in demonstrations, seminars, power points, and told too several families. 34 years later I STILL go to Children's Hospital (adult heart hospital) for a EKG, echo, stress test and MRI 2x/year. I have gotten to know my whole heart team, on a personal level and they're always checking in to see how I'm doing. My favorite memory is when I received a visit from the Detroit Vipers Hockey team after my 9th surgery. I received a signed hockey stick, hockey puck, and photo that my parents put in a plexiglass case which I still have to this day! I have endured alot but Ive over come every surgery and life expectancy due to trial and error, resilience, determination, and the willingness to never give up!

My daughter fell hit her head bad and had a seizure and was unconscious this was a healthy child and a first time thing. We waited almost 4 hours no one checked on us in the lobby she was screaming in head pain no one cared. I watched a girl with a possibly twisted ankle get taken for X-ray and given Tylenol in lobby. This is a broken system! A baby was nearly choking in lobby no one came to the family I had to help them as well. The care we got once we got in a room was however very good. Iā€™m sorry but a small cough or a twisted ankle should never come before a possible braid bleed, tbi and a first time seizure. How can we trust the system to help out babies if this is what we get.

Got to the emergency room around 11/11:30 pm waited until 1:05am until they brought us to the back to wait another 1 hour. Which we are still here waiting for a nurse or doctor to come in. The only person that came in was the billing lady. When i went to ask how much longer will it take for someone to come and see my child. Oo well there are 4 other people ahead of you. I do understand there are a lot of sick kids but come on.

The best thing about this hospital Is the Doctors and nurseā€™s honestly! My son had quite a few stays here since June 2021. First please work on cleaning better and keeping bathrooms and family lounges kept nicely for the families that have to spend days here ! Also please can we get better food options in the cafeteria and gift shop! Oh. And a better parking structure system seriously! Yā€™all can even call me to help with suggestions because I promise once you guys change a few things the hospital will be better and more comfortable for patients and their families stays.

The doctors and nurses were phenomenal. It is unfortunate that the facility is very dirty for a health system environment. The outside staff is also questionable. A few of the security guards are amazing and helpful others make you feel like a prisoner without rights and treat you with no compassion. One gentleman in particular needs to realize what the families of sick children are going through and seek employment elsewhere! Thank you to the actual health providers who did so much for our son and to Rochelle at the desk, I could not appreciate you enough.

Iā€™ve brought my children here over the years of being a mother to young children. So when my youngest got sick and his pediatrician asked me to bring him to the ER, I drove from Taylor to bring him here. We waited 8 1/2 hours (people waiting even longer than I did). The staff is extremely overwhelmed, and arenā€™t able to keep up, not to the fault of their own I might add! Trying to keep up with the expectations of parents with sick babies, cannot be an easy task. The nurses, doctors, registration staff, and student doctors were amazing in my opinion, very informative, and helpful - which is why I waited with my sick 3 year old that was diagnosed with RSV eventually as long as I did. Iā€™ve never had to wait so long before this past weekend, (this would have been my 3rd visit at this hospital ER within 6 years though). Seems like everyone is getting this awful respiratory illness. So I get waiting 3 hours, but 8 + is too long otherwise. I also do not agree that a family had to grieve their deceased child in front of the entire waiting room, and wasnā€™t given a private room - which eventually security had them escorted outside where they continued to grieve. That broke my heart! The guards could be a little more friendlier, but I get a full waiting room is also overwhelming for them too. This used to be my favorite hospital. Iā€™m not sure Iā€™ll go back again if this is the way it is now with emergency waiting room times, and not enough staff to keep things running more smoothly.

Iā€™m thankful for the nurses and staff. They do a great job at trying to make you feel comfortable. Sometimes the wait in the er can be really fastā€¦ or extremely slow. When itā€™s slow, itā€™s so unorganized. My only complaint after being admitted, was that a lot of the staff kept coming into our room without introducing themselvesā€¦. This was mainly housekeeping( not Ana), food service and Iā€™m not even sure who the others were because they would come in and converse amongst themselves and then just leave. I donā€™t really have anything bad to say about the hospital because we received good careā€¦ itā€™s just that coming into our rooms unannounced just seems like a violation of privacy.

I understand that this hospital wants to "keep everyone safe from covid," but after two years, still not being able to bring a sibling for MRIs and other outpatient services is absurd. If everyone is getting tested pre-visit and staff having the vaccine, this policy should have been lifted or changed for emergency purposes. I'm going to have to pull my son's records and transfer over to Motts in Ann Arbor because you can bring atleast one sibling for outpatient services. At Children's hospital we can't even go to the eye doctor and with my son's health situation this is ridiculous.

I cannot ask for a better surgeons. My son which is two went through and open vault surgery. The surgeons and nurses were great. The reason why only four out of five stars. Is the fact that the cafeteria. They are expensive. $3 for a cup of coffee is way too much. The only thing available for dinner is hamburgers. In which they leave out in a pan and reheat if you order one. They are like almost four or five dollars. And they don't taste that great. The cafeteria staff are loud and unprofessional. They need better food options for dinner. You can walk through the tunnel and get to a few restaurants but it takes forever to get over there. I don't like leaving my son for all that long. They need to understand that parents don't like to leave their kids for any length of time need better fruit options. The only other thing I can complain about is only allowing two people there for a major surgery like that. I understand they're worried about covid but it's been long enough now it's ridiculous.

The staff in the neurology department were so kind, caring and attentive to my son's needs. We had an overnight 23 hour Eeg and everyone we met, was wonderful to is during our stay. To our nursing staff, room service staff and doctor's, Bozena, Anna, Rebecca, Jackie, and a few names my tired mind can't recall, thank you for all that you did for us and for all you do for children and their families. You make this a great place for comfort and care. We appreciate each and every one of you who work here!

This hospital is dirty, old, and run down. The nursing staff is unfriendly and under staffed. I could not even get a high chair with a seat belt in my room. Much better off going to Royal Oak Beaumont. Even the cribs were old and have a plastic hard dome over them.

I went to the emergency room, my daughter was not feeling well, I signed in and set waited for almost 2 houses with no help and everyone come after me they let them in, they know the staffs at the front desk they were talking to them and giving them hugs and let them in so fast, me and other four parents left without been seen. I end up taking my daughter to Henry Ford Hospital Wyandotte and I saw few people who left children hospital there.

The NICU at children's hospital is really great. The private rooms, the kitchen and lounge for parents and visitors is great. The staff seem really respectful and nice.

I personally believe that this hospital is a horrible place to come anymore. Dawn c was probably worst nurse we have ever received. Hospital is not clean, things broken, outfit was dirty when it was given to us. We had it cleared for my other daughter to come thru a worker and charge nurse as i have no outside help besides her dad help Dawn says "well there is no charge nurse so I don't know who you think your talking about" as she disrespected the worker saying "well I don't know who he is so he doesn't know anything he could be talking about" Then as I'm clearly already stressed because my INFANT is getting ready to undergo surgery and now rethinking if this is the place to be due to how rude she is. she says "well I think it's a great idea if we just cancel the surgery and you can find care elsewhere" excuse me but I'm unsure of who you are except a NURSE, you are not our doctor or our usual medical team. On top of that my kids father had to get time off work because he wanted to be there for his daughter. (As a good dad should) and Dawn C told us "well a child has 2 parents for a reason. So one could stay home with the other" like any surgery to a infant is no big deal and both parents should not be present.. And not every child has 2 parents. Then came back out to the waiting room because my forms had "2 names" on it. No my last name is different than my kids. Unbelievable. Wouldn't even let one of us take my 5 year old to the patient and family waiting room while the other parent had the baby We were not allowed past pre op registration. Not to mention the parking garage is literally falling apart. Update: HELANA is the best nurse and went above the rude one and fixed most my issues.

The Hematology & Oncology center at the Children's Hospital of MI - Detroit was hands down the best medical team I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I had other experiences with my daughter at another well known children's hospital and had a couple of horrible experiences. We moved and shifted her care here and I couldn't be happier. Their entire staff is so friendly and welcoming. My daughters blood draw (normally a nightmare) had her SMILING and LAUGHING. Which was truly unbelievable to me and brought tears to my eyes. Their doctors, nurses and child life team were NEXT LEVEL incredible. I would absolutely recommend their Hematology team specifically and cannot say enough great things about their team!

DO NOT GO HERE! Horrible horrible experiences every time. The pediatric clinic is a nightmare. First visit the dr yelled at me because she knew nothing about my child. (We had moved from VA and were referred here.) Apparantly they didnt request his medical records even though we scheduled the appointment well in advance. Second pediatrician forgot to submit shot request so we waited in the exam room for 30 min while one nurse said, "thats not my job." EVERY time we come the reception does not submit our paperwork, so we wait in the waiting room while other patients who come in after go in before us. They blame the clinic when I follow up. The clinic showed me paperwork with the time they receive it. 30 minutes late. Had a manager even come out one time and apologize for the service. Gave me her business card for any problems. She never answers her phone or returns calls. They never answer the phone. Have 48-72 hours to call you back. They dont. Dont even try to get in for a sick visit. I have to go to an urgent care even though its not covered by my insurance. My sons has special needs and 16 doctors, so we come often and he gets weighed and measured all the time. Once the nurse left his ankle braces and coat on, leaving him 6 inches taller than normal, so his BMI dropped from 18 to 11. They had a nutritionist come talk to me because they were concerned of his weight fluctuations. Needed paperwork for his daycare, it was faxed over, never filled out or returned. My son was denied daycare services, I lost work. Did they answer the phone? Fax the paperwork to the daycare? NEVER. And never called me back. Thank you for all the other reviews. Sorry there are so many of us with terrible stories. I'm leaving this nightmare. Im done with this hospital.

Horrible most ghetto hospital ever got there at 4am and didnā€™t leave until 1pm my daughter was coughing up blood so I immediately rushed to the hospital for them to have me waiting there for hours the er looked empty , she was still coughing up blood bottom line they donā€™t care unless ur child is near death once I seen the doctor they told me she was coughing up blood due to a nose bleed . My daughter asked for water never brought her anything they do not care out ur children at all. Nurses and doctors were very arrogant . Do not recommend .

They kept my son over 4 hours for his fever, barely checked in & then sent a bill for $1900 for a 5 minute assessment. What kills me is we have 2 insurances and both were provided at the time of registration yet they never actually registered both. A waste of time and money considering they donā€™t help you yet want $2000

Nurses and doctors were great. A bit of a wait to be admitted, but to be fair there were a lot of kids in the waiting room when we got there. One nurse I feel deserves to be recognized is Janel. My baby was born at 28 weeks, so hospitals in general give me anxiety after that. I couldnā€™t even sleep last night because I was so worried. But she was so sweet and helped calm my nerves by how attentive she was every time I called for her. She greeted us happily, even when he vomited majority of a bottle, due to him not knowing how to clear his throat. This happened a few times actually. I apologized each time and she just said something along the lines of, ā€œDonā€™t say sorry! Itā€™s my job. Heā€™s fineā€ and then would proceed to talk sweetly to my son. Thank you to her and the rest of the staff for taking care of my baby.

My daughter was transferred here right after birth. The NICU unit is absolutely amazing. These nurses and doctors are truly heroā€™s and miracle works. Whatever the outcome with my beautiful little girl, I cannot thank them enough for their loving, caring and amazing assistance on my child. I will forever be grateful for each and every one of you. If youā€™re a parent reading this and god forbid something happens to your child, there is no better place that you would want your children to be at. I love you all and you guys truly changed my life, thank you ā¤ļø

This has been a very poor experience. Treated like we were going to a mechanic shop, asked to pay upfront before a procedure. As expected, the EOB processed and we should have owed nothing. Now it's been months and while they've been paid by our insurance, it is fighting tooth and nail to be refunded by this hospital and their billing department. Every time I call, they say it's "30 days from __ step". They just don't want to give us our money back. The last billing rep hung up on me just now. Update: one rep says they see a refund needing to be issued, one rep says that they don't see anything, and another says I need to do some formal process that was never said to me in the last 6 times that I spoke to their department. All these different stories in the span of 30 minutes. This hospital is a bunch of crooks that will get double payments for service and leave their patients out to dry!

Best treatment for my 11 month old granddaughter. The staff was gifted. They diagnosed and cured her of scalded skin syndrome. They made her comfortable during the process. The facility is old and needs to be updated. But when your child is sick you donā€™t notice cosmetics.

I was just there last night around 1am with my son and after waiting 3 hours, we were never able to go to the treatment area so he could try to feel better so we ended up leaving because there were children who unfortunately were really sick with many illnesses sitting really close together. The wait was around 6 hours because the hospital was filled to capacity so there were no beds available for ER patients. So dozens of children had to sit in uncomfortable chairs in a crowded unsanitary room. I hope they find a way to improve their ER service, it's not fair to the children!

My son had a complex febrile seizure, and we were transferred to Children's from our local hospital for a pediatric neurology consultation. The care my son received was top notch. The nursing staff on the observation unit was professional and caring, and monitored my son's temperature and treated his fevers. The physicians came in multiple times a shift to check on our son and make sure we had everything we needed and answered our questions. As a nurse myself, I felt the care and attention my son received was excellent, and I'm extremely thankful for everyone involved in his care.

Great doctors and nurses, but they're completely overwhelmed. 12 hour ER wait. Lots of disorganization and lack of communication between shift changes. Definetly need to step up the housekeeping and cleanliness of the facility, especially the restrooms. We were told several different care plans from multiple doctors and were so confused about what next steps would be. I've been bringing my kids here for 15 years and I'm really hesitant about returning for future visits.

I'm at children's hospital currently. The doctor suggested to amit my daughter due to personal reasons. We are told that a room was ready for her @ 5:30pm. I just found out that her bed disappeared at 630pm. Its 8:00pm and still no room. This is ridiculous!!!!

Our experience with Dr. Lochner was wonderful. The medical and adminstrative staff was also great. The team provided excellent care and were very sweet with my child. We'll be following up and about a month after some therapy after a different doctor told us all was well. We're so glad to have gotten a second opinion from a specialist. Dr. Lochner was highly recommended and I agree. Thank you! As a bonus we left with two sweet little gifts from the staff for our little one. (Pictures included)

I brought my son, who is 10 years old, into Childrenā€™s Hospital with distressed breathing (asthmatic). My son was seen in the ER, where we found out he tested positive for influenza (even though he received the flu vaccine), which put him into an asthma attack. Several breathing treatments, steroids and multiple meds later, his breathing was still in distress, so he was transferred to observation. When we got to our ā€œroomā€ in observation, we were greeted by my sons nurse, Robert. From the very beginning he was friendly, knowledgeable, kind to my sons needs, which were in high demand due to being sick and a complete lack of sleep and went completely above and beyond for my son. He brought him board games to play, he laughed and joked with him and was just very caring to my whiny, emotional, sick child. Dr. Kakarala (Iā€™m sure I spelled that wrong) was my sons doctor and she was equally as kind, caring, knowledgeable and just overall great with my son. For all the parents out there, you know especially when your child is sick, how great it is to know they are in wonderful hands. So, thank you to them for caring about my son.

Please consider this my formal request to subpoena the social worker assigned to my daughter Kayla Marino on 2/3/20 regarding enabling the severe bipolar, schizophrenic, and hostile behavior of Brandi Whaley, leading up to the premature death of my special needs daughter, Kayla Marino, in early 2020. Official documents to be submitted to appropriate courts to ensure compliance. Flagrant disregard for my parental rights and concern of well being for my daughter should not be tolerated, especially with the negligent care taking ability of her mother contributing to her premature death.

The nurses, surgeon and everyone else at the hospital were amazing. However, the hospital asked to pay upfront which we did. After they billed our insurance company (without notifying them of our payment), the allowable amount was $2,600 less than what we paid. We have now been getting the run around for 4 months about getting a refund of our overpayment. No one from the hospital or who works in Michigan will respond to requests for a call back. I am only able to speak with people in their outsourced billing department in Texas.

I had the worst experience. A triage nurse basically sent us away stating that a Dr. would simply not be able to provide the medical care we were seeking. We left and took my granddaughter to Henry Ford Hospital. They took GREAT care of her. She ended up with multiple stitches but is recovering well. CHM, please remind your triage staff that they ARE NOT physicians and should not make people feel as if they have no other choice but to leave though their child is in need medical attention! I will never willingly come to your ER again.

We bought our daughter here for evaluation related to new onset seizures which the Neurosurgery team immediately diagnosed the problem resulting in surgery. We were a bit hesitant to return to Detroit after leaving 10 years ago however, it was a no brainer in relation to our daughters care because we were aware of the reputation of Detroit Children's Hospital being the BEST in the nation. Dr. Sood and Dr. Marupudi are absolutely amazing!!! Dr. Sood is straight to the point and he explains the process with absolute understanding no beating around the bush. He explained things so well my daughter understood perfectly and his bedside manner calmed her for surgery. Dr. Marupudi is also, wonderful caring and beautiful she made sure things were in order and followed up with us each step of the process thank you both for saving my daughters life. These doctors care and it shows. Not only are the doctors wonderful the staff is helpful from security that assess you for Covid prior to entering the hospital parking structure is well lit and safely attached to the hospital our 8 day stay was less stressed because of the doctors, nurses, therapy, housekeepers, porters, dietary thank you all.

I was not happy with the price I was told vs what I was billed or how they do their payment collection. However, my son received great care there. Very patient staff. I decided to update this review since it was not deserving of a 1 star just because of the payment collection.

The doctors and nurses took such good care of our sweet little lady Alora. She was in tremendous pain and as parents we were terrified. When I went to Children's Hospital of Michigan, which was a long time ago now, it was the best place for medical care on the planet as far as I was concerned. My doctors were the best. The nurses were genuine and cared. Everything and every one there was at the top of their game. (1974-1986)
