This gym is a SCAM they lock you in a 2 year contract and there is no way for you to cancel the account. Corporate do not answer to the emails and the employees don’t know anything. I was pressured into signing up and nothing was really explained to me. I am really considering taking this to my lawyer. This is a gym. Any other gym let you cancel whenever. I am very disappointed and upset

READ BEFORE YOU SIGN UP They continued to charge me after my 1 year agreement and refused to issue my refund knowing I did not agree to a 2 year agreement and that I would be at a different location. Their reasoning was it happens automatically even though they leave that part out of the contract before you sign. Their contracts are not to be trusted, all they care about is hitting you with fees and deductions as much as they can and could care less about the circumstances as long as they can deduct money. Lauren the general manager refused to give me a refund after explaining I never agreed to a 2 year contract. She also said the only way I could cancel my membership is by going down there to do it even though I moved away and was no longer in the area to be able to go down there directly. (Turned out to be a lie). After telling Lauren the general manager I would leave feedback she threatened to use my confidential information at the gym against me ( in a under your breath kind of tone) then hung up. When I called back she refused to speak. Left the phone on and didn't answer. This happened 3 times. She has no business being a manager and should be fired. Extremely unprofessional and there are far better gyms out there. When I called to talk to someone the 4th time about this there were no corporate numbers to call, just an email. Marques the associate(who claimed to also be a manager) gave me an inaccurate email to contact corporate and lied about her whereabouts when I requested to speak to Lauren after she hung up on me. So where's the accountability if you have General Managers threatening members (which is a breach of contract and confidentiality) and refusing refunds for charges that should never have occurred? Is this ethical? They also make it very difficult to cancel your membership. You have to call a number, and the gym wont give you the number, they'll pretend they don't have it. THIS IS A VERY DIRTY WAY TO RUN A GYM AND TREAT IT'S MEMBERS. WONT BE COMING BACK.

Very gimmicky gym. Joined with the pretense that I would be getting a signup bonus for my friend and it never showed up. Promised clean locker rooms, they’re already pretty gross after being open for a few months. The classes that I pay extra to have available to me HAVE A FEE NOW LMAO. This place is very obviously a quick money grab for the company. They force you into a one year contract with a $50 yearly fee. Management actively avoids you with the “yeah come see me after your workout” and conveniently disappearing. Honestly just feels shady.

I enjoy the gym facility, but Danielle at the Farmington Hills location approached me and told me that I can’t show my mother (71yrs) and my aunt (63yrs) how to use equipment or workouts. Though I was working out as well she threatened me and told me that SHE will terminate my membership for training. I wasn’t training because for one I’m not a certified trainer, I was simply showing them workouts and making sure they’re not hurting themselves. She then continued to tell me she’s the general manager and when I called they informed me that she was only the assistant manager. To make matters worse, there were actually other non-Black trainers training people. I wasn’t doing that, I was simply helping my elderly mother and aunt, yet because we were Black and I wasn’t in her mind working out with them I was pulled to the side and absolutely embarrassed because her disposition was horrible. Again I’m not a trainer, but the fact she made an assumption and told me I can’t help or show workouts to family or friends was insulting. I will be sending this message to the next chain of command and ask that Danielle is placed in bias class and also briefed on her customer service skills. I recommend she utilize the resources to help train her in how she talks and approaches guests at the facility in the future. Do better Danielle!!!!

This place is the definition of a gimmick. Unfortunately, I was scammed into getting a membership where I was promised 1 month free. I was charged that month and slapped with two yearly fees though I have been a member for only a few months. It is a clean gym but not reliable by any means. Given I have no complaints for the gym cleanliness, the “incentives” and lack of customer satisfaction is the reason why so many warned me of signing up. Also, they close very early on weekends.. if you’re looking for an amazing gym go to lifetime. If you’re looking for a cheap quick workout, go to planet.

I was paying for my friends membership so we could workout together. Unfortunately my friend passed away and I had to cancel his membership last Thursday. I wasn't aware that I would be charged for his membership after canceling. I called today about being charged and was then told that it doesn't matter the circumstances and that since his membership wasn't canceled within 30 days that I would be charged this last time. How crazy does that sound? It's truly disappointing how insensitive they are.

I joined this gym in the beginning of March 2020. I spoke with Anton who signed me up for my membership. He also told me he would give me a month of Edge Strong for free but after the month they would charge me. I insisted I did not want this because I am a flight attendant and am not home enough to make it work for me. He refused to take no for an answer. Shortly after the pandemic happened and They closed for months and apparently Anton does not work here anymore. I see a charge for the edge strong and call and let them know it is supposed to be a month free. I call about 5 times, each time someone says they will have someone call me back and it wasn’t until the 5th time that someone actually did call me back. They said because Anton doesn’t work here anymore there is nothing they can do. Now instead of paying 30 for the membership, I also have paid an extra 60. I emailed edgecares for more help a few days ago and didn’t receive a response back. On the site it states someone will get back to you in 48 hours so once again they lied. I actually enjoy this gym but now view it as being ripped off. Even with a pandemic happening, they refuse to help out in this situation. Update: now there are no classes yet they won’t let me downgrade to a no class membership so I still have to pay for something I am not receiving. I emailed edgecares again so we will see if they do anything or not.

I wanted to give this club a chance since they were not too far away from my home, but it was the worst decision I have ever made. This review is only towards the business practices that Edge conducts, not the actual facility or staff members. I have never set foot in the club, so I can not judge either one of those. Amidst the pandemic, this club is still charging its members. There is not way to cancel a membership unless you pay the remaining amount owed off, or if you move more than 15 miles away from a particular location (Even though 30% of the Michigan work force has lost their job!) and you are basically locked in for the entire term. You can not downgrade your membership very easily either. It took me an hour calling multiple times, because so many people are trying to cancel their memberships right now, and are going through this same experience that I am. It is very unprofessional, and just wrong. The clubs leadership team should know that many people cant afford a $50 gym membership at this time. The leadership team should be aware that people have family members affected by the pandemic and need to use their monetary resources to help support those unwell family members. Instead they continue to embrace the same business practices as if nothing has happened over the past 7 months. I was told on 2 separate occasions that the auto-renew feature would be turned off on my account...it wasn't! I was told on 2 separate occasions when my membership would expire...both of those were incorrect. This is the only organization I have come across, that has not pivoted their TOS and business practices to be more accommodating during these difficult times. I will NEVER become a member of this club, and with the influence I have, will never promote this place either.

They continued to charge my account after covid 19 even tho its a world wide epidemic, they said they're contracts are still binding once the gyms are open and they continued to charge me for my wife's account and also kicked me out and discontinued my membership because I was wearing Islamic attire for my face mask, very criminally minded people and the contracts are oppressive

I tried to downgrade my plan and I was told that I'd have to pay the remaining balance of my current plan which is 27.99 a month for two years. I then asked to cancel my membership and I was told that I couldn't do so unless I moved to a new residence OR for a medical reason. Upon receiving this news, I checked their FAQ page on their site and your new residence must be more than 15 miles away from gym location. When I registered for the gym, I wasn't told this...BUT I'm sure that was intentional. If I was I wouldn't have signed up. I read the fine print but not well enough. Upon reading this review, Edge Fitness Gym, please give me a call.

This gym is inadequate for someone interested in serious strength training, as evidenced by the fact that the trainers have their clients doing "fluff and pump" (i.e. isolation/machine work, "functional" fitness, classes, etc.) They only have three squat racks despite having tons of floor space; the gym I normally train at has 12. Moreover, when I was here, someone hogged a rack for--get this--25 sets, which took over 2.5 hours. He would leave the rack for minutes at a time to go do something else and then return, all the while not allowing anyone to use the rack. The gym should amend their rules to prevent such behavior, or look into purchasing more racks. I will not be returning.

I love the Edge and I'm happy to be back after receiving my Covid-19 vaccinations! I was a Founding Member from the time they opened but had to stop due to Covid-19. I thank God for the vaccine, for grace, and mercy. I love it at the Edge! Everything is clean and you see members trying hard to keep things clean after using them. It's not crowded at all. I just got a new membership. Come to the Edge, you will love it!

Great gym but I wish I didn’t sign up because with being high risk during the pandemic and trying to cancel my membership they won’t let you. I wish I never sign the contract. At least at other gyms they let you cancel.

Very bad experience. While signing up for the gym Membership they have mentioned that I can Cancel the membership anytime. After a year when I went down to cancel my membership, the representative told me that they would cancel and I am good. 6 months later I get a call from the Debt collector saying that I have a debt at edge fitness. When I called the edge fitness team, they said that the cancellation is not easy and I need to sign the cancellation form. Their representative did not mention anything when I went down to cancel and now they charged me 635$. its a fraud. don't go to this gym. Their represenatives hardly no the policies or they are just trying to pull money from us in this way. BAD EXPERIENCE

I had a disappointing experience at Edge Fitness Club due to their inflexible contract policies. When I signed up, I informed the employee that I would only be staying for a couple of months for my internship, and then I would have to return to my hometown, which is quite far away. Despite providing various proofs, such as my driver’s license, work letterhead, and college class schedule, the club refused to accept them as valid reasons for canceling the contract. This resulted in them continuing to deduct money from my account even when I couldn’t use their facilities. I hope the club can reconsider their contract policies and be more understanding of their members’ situations in the future. It would make for a much more positive experience for everyone involved.

These are the worst people to deal with! I have not been in that club since July 2017. I had a dental surgery because of a fractured tooth that time. I woke up with an unbearable nerve pain and ended up in ER that night. Few days later, after getting my tooth extracted, I went there and showed all my paperwork. They already owed me 3 sessions by then. I was told I will get my training sessions when I’m ready and will not be charged for anything going forward. Here are my charges just for training since then (copied from actual credit card estatement) 1/31/2018 1247 EDGE FITNESS CLUB 41 MONROE TURNPIKE 43 TRUMBULL CT USA (224.44) 09/29/2017 1247 EDGE FITNESS CLUB 41 MONROE TURNPIKE 43 TRUMBULL US USA (135.45) 08/01/2017 1247 EDGE FITNESS CLUB 41 MONROE TURNPIKE 43 TRUMBULL US USA (250.00) 07/08/2017 1247 EDGE FITNESS CLUB 41 MONROE TURNPIKE 43 TRUMBULL US USA (207.09) Not to mention, my monthly charge from my debit card never stopped. I have called numerous times to cancel and reimburse the unlawful charges. I have sent out emails to NBC financial (who happens to own this place). So far nothing! These people have no ethics or consciousness. Please use caution before signing up

Is a decent gym except for the lap pool flip flop activities. I joined the gym because they had decent morning open swim times since I work in the afternoon. But, since the four months I've been a member they have abruptly added swim classes during lap times. Today their instructor came in and very rudely closed down two of the lanes even though she had no students. Basically all the people who where swimming at the time just left in disbelief. I'm still waiting for a call from a supervisor.

Facilities are decent besides the putrid smell that always lingers in the back area. Mask mandate is not properly enforced at this location. Showers close well before closing time, and management will NOT respond to any questions or complaints, despite several attempts in communication. Membership packages feel scammy and they try and harass you into personal training packages. Would not recommend.

I know Govanni and the crew for a while however there is one particular staff/trainer with gold glasses that ruins this gym. I was just using one of the training rooms to stretch and staff member with gold glasses opened the door and rudely tells me to leave as it’s reserved for trainers points me out with his finger trying to act all tough. Calm down you make $12 bucks a hour so why the attitude? It was like 5 minutes to close. Where’s the sign I asked? He just looked at me and held the door open so I’d leave the trainer room. If it’s off limits put a sign rather than chasing down customers. It’s staff like this that ruins it for the entire place. All he does is talk at the front desk and hits on women as they come in. Very unprofessional. I believe this large guy works on the weekend to close. Why not make your self useful & fill the empty wipes since they are always empty. That’s why I’ll be checking out crunch fitness very soon. As a former gym owner 4 Anytime fitness in Arizona, I’d never hire someone like that is rude to my customers. Plus the layout and placement of equipment is off at this place. What can you expect these days anyways. Nobody cares at this Farmington hill location.

PLEASE READ EVERYTHING BEFORE SIGNING If you choose to cancel your membership before the end of your term, you either need doctors note saying you can’t physically workout for the next 6 months, can’t move or are disabled. It’s a beautiful gym but they try to trap you. The guy didn’t even tell us what would happens if we wanted to end out membership until it was too late.

I have been going to this gym for about two years. I love the facility however EDGE kids is my least favorite attribute from this gym. When it is open it is great and the staff are amazing BUT they close without informing parents. There have been many times when you would arrive at the gym and they print out signs on the doors that says Edge kids is closed due to staffing. It is a very inconvenient and frustrating situation especially when you pay for a service. There has also been times when I would show up and no one is there resulting in the staff saying they were unaware no one was in there and it is now 4:45 PM. I was told there is only one supervisor for both shifts but they are not available in the afternoons. I understand scheduling happens, however an email and some professionalism would be great especially when it inconveniences paying members. I ended up switching to Westland because the staff stated they were better staffed at that location.

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with, and I wish I never signed up! I was diagnosed with breast cancer in April and requested that my account be put on a freeze. They continued to charge me anyway, claiming they never got the request. I provided documentation, but they still refuse to do the right thing. I requested a refund, and they requested more documentation. I provided documentation, and now they say they need more. This is ridiculous, not to mention insensitive! I am dealing with enough, and I don't need the added stress, nor should my doctors have to take the time to write letters when they are busy trying to save people's lives! 08/02 Update: Emailed them as advised below in response, sent another letter from my doctor stating I am not to engage in any strenuous activity while being treated and they still will not cancel or refund me the months they charged me when the account was supposed to be frozen. Now they respond and say they need another letter. This is unbelievable! My doctor confirmed my diagnosis and stated that I am not allowed to work out in the latest letter and that she does not advise I do for several months, indefinitely. What more do they want?! This is a nightmare! The manager has ghosted me, though Ms. Brittany Rubio said she would still help me even if I wanted to cancel. She has not followed up, and I have heard nothing more since she asked for another letter from my doctors.

The Edge Fitness Clubs Farmington Hills just stole $300 from us. A service that was discontinued months before covid hit, they now say they did not in fact discontinue it and they randomly charged us $300, on top of our regular fees. If you like rude employees on power trips, and being ripped off hundreds of dollars for services not rendered, this is the gym for you.

4/21/2020 Edit: I have worked with ABC Financial and cancelled my account months ago. Today I find that they have charged me again for the yearly $49.99 fee. Previous post: This company has the worst cancellation policies. You're locked into a year-long contract. When I spoke to the manager about canceling, he told me the only way to do it was by registered mail. What company in this age has such antiquated policies? They use a third-party vendor to handle the cancellations so the phone numbers direct to that other company who has no authority to do anything other than to "look into it" and read their policy to you. I was told by this other company, ABC Financial, that I could cancel by email. This was not what the manager had told me so whether that's their policy to direct people to the registered mail to make it more difficult or if he flat out lied, I'm not sure. When canceling, they still make you wait another 30 days. If you were charged for anything, they will not give you any refund if you have an active policy. So beware, you will get a yearly equipment maintenance fee of $49.99 every year in addition to the monthly membership. My trainer quit because he was being pushed by management into being a salesperson and upselling me on their supplements. Rotten policies all around. No care for the customer.

The sales manager is so rude and not honest. I came to the gym a few days ago 5o get an idea about their prices and today I wanted to get the free pass in order to try the gym and then make the decision to join. She refused to give the free pass because I don't have the state ID. I said ok, I want to sign the lease for 12 months, she said no, you only can get the student memebrship which is for 3 months. I left the gym due to her way of talking and her unfriendly language. I don't know why she was treating me like this, I don't care and I'm happy to not see her in a gym I'll be working at.

Basic $9.99 membership costs between $220-250 per year after their starting and annual fees. Join the gym expect to pay upfront: Enrollment Fee $50.00 (they advertise $1 but good luck) 1st Month Fee $9.99 Processing Fee $14.50 then 61 days later another $50 "ENhAnCeMeNt" fee 12 months x 10 = $120 + $50 + 14.50 + $50 = $235/year for base membership which is about $20/month. Do not be fooled by their pricing. They will also let their automated system double bill you on the month after signing up. They will not correct it until you call. Now that you're signed up and in the gym feel free to enjoy the well cleaned, but not well maintained equipment. Then head to the back of the gym near the squat racks for a putrid yet lingering smell eroding through the thick brick walls from the dumpsters just outside that are shared with the movie theatre.

Canceling the membership even after the full contract year is next to impossible. You have to call someone in India that is not associated with the gym. After a 2+ hour hold they will make you snail mail them some information. Will they lose it? Probably atleast once. They will also charge you for another month after they receive your snail mail "as per contract". The gym itself is also less than great. Childcare hours are short. The only nice area is locked unless you pay for a premium membership. The classes are mediocre, and fill up too fast for the number of members at the club. Highly do not recommend. Pay the extra fee for lifetime or just go to planet fitness. Not worth it.

Trying to cancel is a pain!!!! I have not used this gym in months and am going back to school. I am trying to cancel because I will not be using it obviously and they are giving me the hardest time. I’m not usually one to write reviews or complain, but this is just frustrating. I can’t afford to pay for it while I’m school anymore and nor would I want to since I have not been in so long and will not have time to go as I am taking a lot of credits this semester. I had a much easier time cancelling my last gym membership than this one and I think it is horrible how hard they are making it. I have been emailing and all they want is my relocation information. I am not moving away to school, as I said in my response as well as stating my university along with the city and now they want me to provide a class schedule?!?! I really don’t see how my class schedule is important as I already stated how I’m not moving on campus, but will just be there most of my week and again have not used the gym in months and am not able to afford it anymore. I’m really stressed out and upset in how difficult this all is!

Only reason I got this membership was for the sauna, and it breaks a lot! They try so hard to push personal training down your throat. Even after telling them many times I wasn’t interested, I still had to get snappy about it. The workout cinema is cool, but half the time the movie isn’t playing. The private womens workout room is cool! Only reason it gets two stars.

It’s just sad how they treat people. In first place when I joined, the woman make me believe that I could cancel after 6 months, which is not true. And now that I just moved from CT to New York they refuse to cancel my membership, since I’m still 13.5 miles away from the nearest edge. In another words, I have to travel more than 1.5 hours every day, going to another state just because they believe that I’m able to do that. All the stress and tiredness apart from humiliation just isn't worth it

I have not gone to the gym since COVID started. I am also 65 years old. I was charged and paid my annual fee in august at that time I also had to put I it writing that I wanted to end my commitment to Edge. I paid my September bill but was tile that I had to wait one month after sending in my cancellation. I received a October bill. Call the edge to have them credit my account. They refused and sent me to a credit agency Also beware that your personal trainer visits expire if not used in a year. Bad business. Not willing to work with the elderly especially during this COVID crisis. Poor management

The equipment and facility is excellent. But the staff especially the management was horrible no one was willing to help me figure out a billing problem I was having. I was getting billed all over the place they really didn’t want to hear about it even when I brought in credit card records to show them.I do understand there’s a billing company that’s involved as well but a lot of the times the issue starts at the club. It all culminated resulted in one of the managers there lying to me directly to my face which I found out later by my own investigating. I found out that that’s how the management deals with a problem there. Told me there was no problem to them lie to me and dealt with the problem behind the scenes. I do understand there’s a billing company that’s involved as well but a lot of the times the issue starts at the club. It all culminated resulted in one of the managers there lying to me directly to my face which I found out later by my own investigating. Long and short the staff well I can’t say all of them most at the desk are helpful amd friendly. The managment just didn’t want to hear anything about my problem and then when they realized they were in error after my pestering with my statements month after month .. went into the system fixed the problem and then told me there was never a problem .. managment horible amd dishonest is the moral here .

I typically frequent the Stratford location because they have more machines to help target lower body but I started to come to Trumbull because it’s closer to my house. While this gym is good for upper body workouts it’s not the best for lower body. I didn’t see as many machines, especially not for targeting the glutes. The reason I rated a 3 is because more than half the times I come here the cleaning wipes are not replenished. On average I stay at the gym for an hour and I never see anyone replenishing them. It’s pretty disgusting working out on a machine that has sweat on it and it’s equally as gross to have someone working out on a machine I sweat on. Please be more consistent with this, it’s not really sanitary.

You will be solicited by phone and by email with no options to unsubscribe because the Edge doesn't respect your wishes. The Edge also doesn't respond to equipment issues that you report. They just dont bother maintaining anything that isn't 100% broken. For example, one of their treadmills has an intermittently defective heart rate monitor. I assume that's not important enough for them to fix, so they don't bother. It works about half the time. Two of their other treadmills do not increase in incline if you set them to. For example if you attempt to incline from 5%-15%, the treadmill is about 50% likely to remain at 5%. I enjoy my time at the gym but I've come to understand that it has a business model that cares about its bottom line more than it cares about irritating its members. I paid cash for a year in advance. I suspect their business model relies on upselling extra training services and their retail products. I'm probably costing then more money than its worth by being a standard member. That's the only reason I can think of that they won't stop emailing me despite my many requests. They probably want me to stay home! If that doesn't bother you, then everything else is fine. They do a good job keeping the men's locker room clean.

H-F Racquet Club has done a great job of reopening after mandatory closings due to Covid. All safety measures are implemented and although fewer people can use the facility at one time, it seems that all parts of the facility and many programs are up and running. We appreciate their attention to detail. No locker room facility per se for now. Very very clean.

This place looks good, but I think this place is not favorable to me. Due to the persisting risk of the COVID-19 pandemic, I just don't want to continue the membership until the risk is totally gone in one or two years. I also have some alternative method that works with me. (Home training , Apartment Gym, and Nintendo Switch Ring Fit) I joined this gym one or two years ago through the sales person, who was the staff of my previous gym. (I switched from the previous gym because of the new horrible manager of that gym and his horrible management.) This place is managed very well. In other words, facilities are clean, and supplies such as cleaning wipes are usually well replenished. (The supply was little bit in short after the COVID-19 pandemic especially on 2020 Jan - Mar) The one critical good advantage is having massage machines. Although the number of machines are so limited (one chair massage and one Hydromassage bed), but they were so good to do after I complete my exercise routine. They also has some cardio exercise room with theater. Although I cannot choose the movie I can watch, but they usually play fine movies to exercise with. There is no subtitle on the screen, so non-native English users might have some difficulty to watch though. The facility is good with fine equipments. There are tissues and hair dryers to use at the locker room. The shower room also looks good, but it is hard to find the space to hang towels and clothes while I am taking shower after the exercise. I have to be careful to avoid water from touching clothes and towels. One disadvantage for me is that the cost of personal training. I don't know how other gyms charge for personal training, but the cost of that is clearly expensive than my previous gym. The total cost with personal training would be similar with the cost of any other premium/luxury gyms. Personal Trainer usually sells nutritions and protein supplements a lot, so you may need to speak up to stop selling. Also, they are so hard on the fitness goal and so obsessed about this. I sometimes have low energy to lift the weight, and some of my muscle are not strong enough, but he pushed so hard, so this attitude discourages my motivation to keep up with. Also, I was not able to use the equipment of 'special Edge Strong Class room' while the class is not ongoing. The equipment outside the classroom is lacked, and the space for stretching is not wide enough to me. There are lots of people there, so it is difficult to relax. I think it is better to stretch and relay at home with my own equipments. Staffs are generally kind and great. Quitting membership is kind of a hassle. You have to contact the gym staff for detailed instruction, but you have to deal with ABC Finance company, which is governing basic membership. You have to contact that company via email, and they are trying to avoid taking your request. You may need to take strong stance based on their response. I will keep my eyes on my credit card account to check whether they charge the fee or not after I terminate the membership.

OMG!! This place is amazing! I went in for a tour and ended up signing up my entire family! I am so excited to get started and hope everyone check this place out. Edge Fitness has stuff in it that I have NEVER seen in any club in my life! The equipment was being wiped down as I toured the club and I noticed sanitation stations all throughout. Edge Fitness is definitely corning the market and sets a new standard. :)

Yeah the gym is awesome with good rates. Employees on-site are fine but the contracts are TERRIBLE to get out of. The customer care won’t help on the phone and you can’t understand them like they’re calling from BFE. Made me send them documents 3 separate times even though I sent them exactly what is explained. Definitely cancel in person if you need to before you move or it’s a hassle.

Well equipped and very clean facility. Excellent choice of classes. I highly recommend Spin classes at the Farmington Hills location. All instructors are very good. Carson, Anthony, Todd, and Alexandra’s spin classes are very high energy and a blast! However, I have cancelled my membership ( 30 days in advance of renewal without problem). The music on the gym floor is crazy loud and I cannot hear my own music or on-demand classes even when my AirPod volume is maxed out. It’s super annoying and not healthy. Over the last year I’ve asked twice about turning the gym’s music volume down. Both times told “I do not have the key to the room with the sound equipment…” and turning volume down permanently is “corporate” function. But they would look into it. Nobody has looked into it. I’m only available to take one spin class a week so it’s not worth the Premium membership and dues increase to stay at Edge. Between the loud music (which should have been easy to fix) and Premium membership fee required for Spin classes, that I can only do once per week, I chose to cancel my membership.

Worker at the club said they couldn't cancel my membership and gave me a number to call. The number I called said they couldn't cancel my membership. When asking the worker at the center about the misinformation she refused to give any information of her name or supervisor to help straighten up the miscommunication and deescalate the issue. Completely unhelpful customer service and had to go in circles and jump through hoops to solve any issues. Will not be returning and will be actively letting friends looking for a gym know that this company's business model doesn't care at all about the consumer or helping them solve any issues.

My girlfriend and I have tried to cancel our membership nonstop and they wont let us. We lived in Farmington temporarily, and have since moved over 200 miles away from the nearest Edge Fitness. They have threatened to send us to collections and continue to charge us since we have moved away, AND we provided every piece of documentation needed to show we were settled in and moved into a new residence. They refuse to let us out, their customer service doesn’t answer our calls. If signing up for this gym, read the fine print, and then look again because it doesn’t even matter if you follow everything to a T, they’ll do whatever they please with your account.

I left my old gym to start a new membership and was skeptical at first. I do travel so I wasn’t sure if this would be the best gym but luckily it all worked out for me. I do enjoy working out here and doesn’t get too busy compared to some of the other places in the area. It is super clean and has every equipment you need. Soon as you walk in people actually say hi. The classes and amenities are really hard to beat in the area. I’ve worked out at a few gyms in the area and this place is really nice. It does get busy during peak hours but that any gym. I never have to wait and the staff is super helpful. I don’t know any other gym that offers so many amenities. I would highly recommend this place.

I canceled my membership after they closed due to covid and was told it was all set. 6 months later I see they are still pulling money out of my account and they will not cancel or refund. They don't even take your call if you say you want to cancle. They've taken over $100 from me without consent and I'm no closer to canceling. They actully make you provide proof that you moved in order to cancle, this is so ridiculous.

Forced into a contract extension due to covid. No where in the contract does it state they can add months due to being closed. Amenities aren't open yet still being charged full price. Can't turn off auto renew on your membership in person after the one year expires. They force you to write a certified letter.

Terrible customer service. When the fitness club was shut down due to the pandemic, the monthly membership fee was not charged, although I never requested this. Now, I have a charge for more than double of my contract monthly payment and when I called to cancel simply because I do not feel comfortable working out due to individuals in my household being high-risk, I am asked to provide proof of this from a medical professional. This would be a violation of HIPAA laws and quite frankly I view this as an egregious request as we are still in a pandemic. This is a terrible company that I will never support again. I'll go to LA fitness who willingly canceled my membership and understood that my exposure in a gym could put the people that I love at risk.

Rude customer service from two female staff , one name Anna M. I was asking questions about my billing , and they couldn’t explain to me why my monthly bill kept going up , one girl said it’s because of the pandemic , the other one said it’s not , then while on the phone , one of them hung up on me, so I had to drive to the location and the manager Anna M started being so rude and disrespectful , yelling in my face , pretty much dismissed my concerns, and gave me corporate email and because I threatened to tell corporate how I was being treated , she tore the paper with the email and her name on it and basically told corporate a lie on me before I could text them first.. don’t go to Farmington hills to workout, you will be disappointed.. there are many other great gyms to join

Good gym with some nice equipment. However coming from LA fitness there are some drawbacks. I signed up as $30 founders membership with the idea of sacrificing a basketball ball court and pool for fitness focus with classes. Most of not all classes became fee based couple months in. Only one drinking fountain, no hand sanitizer, slow wifi. Yearly fee like planet fitness amd contract for 2 year. Still recommend this for great staff and fitness focus approach.

Great gym and staff. Very upset that mask policy IS NOT enforced here. Came to the free weight section last week and about 7 out of 10 people had their mask either below their nose or chin. Wrote an email to the company, never heard back. Decided to come this week to see if anything change. Now about half had their mask down, one guy on the treadmill with NO MASK. The spin classes are limited to 10 people and fill up within 30 seconds of the class opening for registration. Thought with the huge influx of Covid cases in the area they would be more careful, they're not. I hope the right people see this review. I love the Edge gym, but I love my community more.

The way they've treated their members during this pandemic has been absolutely shocking and disappointing. Terrible customer service with a staff that lacks compassion. There are better gyms available. Patronize ANY of those instead. There has also been new 5 star reviews with no comments... don't believe them. They are from the staff and their friends.

My membership 12 month agreement was up in Sept. 2020. I called to cancel and they would not let me saying that my membership was extended for 6 months because of Covid but it could be placed on hold and I wouldn't be charged. I placed it on hold and was still charged that month. I called, they refunded the money. I froze the account for another month, they still charged, I called, they refunded. November I called to freeze again since they still didn't have group fitness or childcare available because of Covid. They froze my account, still charged me and also charged me the yearly $49.99 fee even though I had only used the facility for 5 months because of Covid. There is no reason I should have had to pay for 2 years of fees when I hadn't even been in the gym for 6 months. The employee that I talked to about refunding me kept saying it was a nonrefundable charge. Not true. After her being very rude on the phone and many emails and phone calls to their corporate I finally was able to cancel my membership and get all money refunded since September when I should have been able to cancel my membership. Will not be going back here. They are not nice to people trying to cancel memberships. Especially during a pandemic!

After reading the reviews, I thought I would write and address some of the things I've read. People that work there: I've found that everybody that works there is nice. Overcrowded : Sometimes, what really gets me is when people hog the equipment. Either using two or three machines going from one to another or sitting on the bench on the phone. Equipment : There are a lot of minor things wrong. ripped grips or worn pads on the machines. Still the things work for the most part. I'm not sure why they would let that stuff go. It's a small price to fix and I think makes the gym look bad. Still, they work, I guess. Signing the contract : The salespeople are trained to sell. You have to be an adult to join so, take responsibility and read the contract. No different that buying a car. They want you to read it on the computer screen, don't. Know what you're agreeing to. I hate ABC so I pay up front for a year. ABC Financial : The worst company I've ever dealt with. They make it impossible to talk to someone. It's hard to complain when you have no access so I guess they win. I would never give them my CC number. If you want to go work out for about 20.00 a month, this is a good value. Most of the people working out with you are nice, you can make some friends and stay in shape. The employees are nice and helpful. For the most part, the equipment works. I've been a member for about three years so, I must think it's OK. I hope this revue helps someone

Been a member on and off since around 2008. Great value over. I left Connecticut at one point and dealing with ABC financial (company that is contracted out to deal with the financial part of your membership) was a nightmare. They where telling me facts about the contract that where not actually in the contract and requesting things like mail showing my new address as proof that I moved out of CT. Main problem was I was in training on a military base with mail restrictions and in the Middle East the 2 times I tried to cancel and they weren’t at all helpful when I told them that wasn’t really an option and there was nothing in the contract that I saw about this. Terrible company to deal with but was able to cancel the membership after about a year of trying to navigate ABCs cancellation policy. Overall gym is one of the best values in CT. Been to every location in Connecticut. Few pros/ cons: 1) They get busy at times and some locations get unbearably packed even before work but the google tool is pretty accurate in seeing what location is empty at what times so it’s easy to plan around that. 2)They where 24 hours for a while at some locations so that was convenient. I believe they’ll bring that back when the pandemic is over but I haven’t heard anything official. 3)The staff is friendly and always super helpful and honestly never had a negative experience outside the whole ABC financial situation. Went to school with a lot of current and former employees and I could genuinely say they hire people with good integrity and values. I’d definitely recommended but just be ready for some lies and difficulty when/if you ever need to cancel. The process is again done through ABC financial so I don’t want to make it seem like the edge is the problem but ABC does have a 1.1 stare rating and the edge chooses to contact that responsibility to them. Just be aware of that beforehand. 4) The cardio Cinema is absolutely amazing. That alone is worth the already low monthly price. Hope this review helps y’all make an informed decision from a long time customer.

They've extended the registration time to 48 hours ahead instead of the 25 it was before. All that did was fill up the popular classes 23 hours earlier. I haven't heard a reason for the change.

Great Edge location. They have amazing group fitness instructors. It's always clean. Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. There is also a theatre room which is unique.

I’ve been a member for over one year, and I just got around to completing my fitness assessment. My new trainer, Matt, was very knowledgeable and friendly. We ended up going slightly over our scheduled time because he took the time to explain what everything meant and how I should move forward. Afterward, I spent time with Anna setting up my personal training. She and I had spoken on the phone when I made my initial appointment, and she was super friendly during both encounters. She was also very knowledgeable. They both listened to my fitness concerns and recommended several things to help me get there. I’ve had personal training at other gyms and it was never this thorough or personable. I can’t speak for anyone else’s experiences, but so far mine have only been positive. Even with staff greeting me when I come through the door. There’s never been a time where I was not given a warm and friendly greeting. During Quarantine in March 2020, they stopped charging my account until they reopened many months later. Who wouldn’t love that?

Do not sign up here. I was diagnosed Covid positive at the end of October. I called and reported that my husband and I would not be able to utilize our memberships for the foreseeable future and due to quarantining we could not come in to cancel our memberships. I was assured that this would be handled and that I would not have to worry. I have been charged EVERY MONTH since then, despite calling many times. I have left messages for the managers to call me back and received no return calls. I have been forced to file claims through my bank in order to rectify the situation. Completely unethical and crooked. Taking advantage of someone who is very sick, with minimal income due to Covid is despicable. UPDATE: I received a phone call at 17:06 on 2/10/20 from the club’s manager Anna. She was very apologetic and stated that she did see in my account that both my husband and I should have had our memberships canceled in October. She was not the manager at that time, but she has assured me that she is personally going to rectify the situation.

I have never utilized the gym after joining and they still take money from my account. When I signed up I believe I had just gotten over Covid my reason for wanting to tone up. Covid was announced and the gym closed when it reopen I did not feel comfortable attending and still don't! All I've heard from them is what's in there contract for canceling. I'm not comfortable with going to the doctor unless it's absolutely necessary so no doctors note for me. It's a shame there so money hungry and not concerned with how their customers feel. There contract was drawn up when we live in a different world. We were mask free! They took there annual cleaning fee and continues to charge my account. I signed up and returned for my assessment and was told it was $500-800 a month additional for a trainer. I didn't go back and then it was Covid. I'm so glad I didn't let Will convince me into signing for 2 years. I'm sharing my feelings with everyone in my community about how you like taking people's money especially seniors. No one has money to just throw away and unless I close my bank account that's what I'm doing here!

They have way more machines. And way more to offer. Never been in a sauna before and it is great. Love everything except the pricing. I really want to do the personal training but it is costly in a budget. At least at planet fitness their personal trainer is free. Other then that it is a really good gym.

  • 4/5 Arina G. 2 years ago on Google
Nice spacious sport club, however, exercise equipment isn't adjustable to a different people heights. Some good classes but really not enough of them especially at the evenings. Hopefully it'll be more in the fall. Membership freeze isn't easy though, and its necessary at times.

I move to Mi unsure how long I would be here. I explained this to the associate that signed me up. She assured me if I were to move back to Ga just show my current Dl and I could cancel. NOT SO they will not let me cancel without a new DL. WHY put me through the hassle of getting a new DL with the same address? It is unfortunate the lies they tell for a sale.

I put a 5 star review up about a year ago and just want to express truly how awesome the people and this gym is. Always clean, good music, amazing people and always a great time. For anyone looking to get into working out or someone who is a gym addict this is the gym to go to!!! I'd give this gym 11 stars if I could.

  • 4/5 Maciej P. 3 years ago on Google
Have to blast my headphones so I don't have to hear the same Playlist everyday. I asked to have them turn it down but instead they blast their music like it's a night club. Majority of people wear their headphones and go there to work out and not listen to the same annoying songs. I understand that people may not like the same music choice as me, but then again hearing WAP played everyday around the same time is simply not cool. Change the station at least one a month and just lower the volume, it's not much to ask from your daily customers. Other than that gym has everything you might need to get a good workout in.

The best gym I've been to thus far. I love the private workout rooms and cardio movie theater. Everything is organized in sections so you never have to worry about what part of your body to work on. The staff is super friendly. It's very clean, the cleaning crew is always there. And they have a protein shake station

Horrible experience, unprofessional, always finding ways to deduct money!! Don’t go! Easy to enroll but soo hard to cancel membership. Even after giving them a 30 day notice to cancel membership, they still charged me a yearly fees saying we usually deduct this for maintenance! It’s like when they know you are leaving, they will find ways to get money out of you. My husband had a bad experience too hence I thought I better be early and inform them about my cancellation and guess what???? They still charged me an yearly fees 20 days before my last day of the gym. Pathetic management and to cancel your membership you have to call different numbers, the facility will just guide you with wrong information. The call centers are closed over the weekends hence make sure you work as per their time. Horrible experience!! I would never recommend this gym who just knows how to take money out of you!!

Really nice gym. Missing some stuff though. Can’t find paper towel anywhere. Sometimes I just wanna wipe my sweat off. Also the paid training has taller box jumps but they are not acceptable to the rest of us which is annoying. Would like the taller boxes. Equipment is in good condition and gym is clean. Overall a decent gym. Just needs a couple things to make it great.

I was nervous about signing up with this place but I have no regrets. The establishment is clean and has great equipment to accommodate ones fitness goals. The employees are nice for the most. I had one encounter with a trainer there that worked the back counter. The tall, man with a thin built, light complexion, with wavy hair seemed dismissive toward me when I asked him a question but other than that the employees seems to be nice. I had to give this place 5 star's.

I have been a member for about 2 years now. The staff is friendly, the equipment is great and the other members are mostly respectful. They have a ton of trainers, tanning booths, water massage, saunas showers and a protein bar. If you want to get in shape and have fun doing it. Go here!

  • 5/5 Queenb M. 1 year ago on Google
The edge is a really nice gym with a ton of equipment and space. I love that they have a women's only area and that the locker room is really plush. They also have a movie theater you can watch films in while exercising. I worked out here with my trainer and had an amazing experience.

I barely come here to work out but the few times I come is huge disappointment! still I haven’t cancelled my membership (40us btw) in hopes this gym goes back to what it used to be 2 years ago when I enrolled here. The guy at the front desk tried to deny my 14 year old daughter to come in when she’s been working out with me multiple times already that same guy is the one who cuts off the music at 6:30 pm on the weekends to make your workout more enjoyable. So sad with the latest customer service you guys have.

  • 5/5 Ace W. 1 year ago on Google
I love this place. It's great being able to use the treadmill while watching a movie, the employees are really nice. The protein shakes are delicious. But It would be Great if the gym was open 24 hours like most gyms are now. It would really help, especially for those who work until after midnight and are only able to get to the gym late at night.

I love the atmosphere at "The Edge". This was my first ever gym experience. I was a bit nervous at first now that I've gone several times, I hooked. The staff is helpful & friendly. I will definitely keep my membership!

I had been a happy member for years but have been very disappointed recently as their kids’ play area has been regularly closing without notice. When it is open, there are several features unavailable or broken. This is a big drawback for parents choosing this gym because of the kids’ area that used to be amazing. EDIT 4/10: Thank you for the response, and good luck in your hiring search. I would suggest working to send these notices earlier, as they are often sent several hours after the kids’ club has already closed for the day.

My wife ended up not signing up here because she was really turned off by the salespeople and what she felt was a lack of transparency around some of the fees. Overall, I think it's about as good a value as you can hope for if you're looking for a gym with child care, but definitely need to be aware that they will try to upsell you whenever they can. Still, the equipment is in good shape, I rarely have to wait to use a machine and the child care folks put off good vibes so it works for me.

Love this gym it’s clean, I see the cleaning crew every night. The cinema room & sauna are why I switched from planet plus they also have tanning. The sauna is the game changer. All the bad reviews seem to be about contract issues and cancelling. So read & understand contracts before signing things.

Great gym. Great pricing. Friendly, helpful staff. But pretty crowded & limited power racks (4 total) unless you go very late, very early or around lunch time. Many guests don't put their weights away which is annoying but not the gyms fault.
