I wanted it to be better, but it’s still pretty good. Avalon has a great reputation. I love their Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies. I had been talking about how good it was to my partner so we picked up takeout today. My sausage biscuit sandwich and his biscuits and gravy were delicious. Everything was packaged up for the optimal takeout experience—and it’s recyclable! The Lemon Ricotta Pancakes were burnt. We thought about making pancakes at home for breakfast, but decided to get breakfast out. They were not great and the burnt flavor took away any hint of lemon. Other than that, I love Avalon. I love that I’m supporting Detroit and people doing good.

Perfect spot for brunch or to grab a coffee and baked items. I tried The Lox toast and one of their seasonal specials ( Spiced Orange Tea latte with Oat milk) I loved how my drink was not too sweet and was very subtly flavored. They have a variety of Scones, cookies and breads freshly baked everyday. I would definitely recommend trying this place.

We came here for breakfast as we had an event to attend in Detroit and this place was perfect considering you do not have to wait until the end to pay. You order and pay, and food comes to your table. Everything was delicious! We ordered their breakfast pizza which is more than enough for 2 adults (or 1 very hungry adult!) and we had their huevos rancheros with a mocha and American coffee. Everything was cooked delicious. Their bathrooms are clean, the dinning space is big with a mix of high tables, booths, and regular tables. You can self-serve water.

An amazing breakfast to start the day. You have to try the Brunch Challah French Toast. It was an experience in itself. Get there early seating is first come and limited during the breakfast rush.

Avalon Cafe and Bakery was a fantastic place to go grab brunch and coffee. I had a London Fog that came out great and then I got a special Avalon Brunch Burger that honestly was one of the best brunch burgers I’ve had in awhile. I’d definitely recommend this for anyone grabbing brunch in the area

Beautiful restaurant with wonderful decor. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. Food came out quick and was absolutely divine. I would gladly come here again and it was a great start to my family and i's morning. We stayed at a hotel a couple blocks away so it was a nice morning walk to get here. I got the Challa Bread French Toast with was one of the best French toasts I have ever had!

Highly recommend, it's a little pricey but so worth it! Everything is delicious and decent size portions. Will have to stop by again when I'm in town 🔥🔥🔥 (not pictured: lemon scone with chocolate chip- it was ok)

A great spot in Detroit for a delicious bite to eat. Our team likes to grab lunch here on occasion. Fresh food with great flavor and a friendly, welcoming staff. Plenty of space to dine at. Recommend.

Absolutely delicious. Great service and food. I had the grilled turkey with smoked Gouda and a special cranberry mayonnaise. I just asked what they most popular lunch sandwich was. I would have never picked it myself. I’m so glad I ordered it. Delicious

Lovely cafe! Great staff! My friend and I went there on New Year's Day for breakfast, I had their Lemon and Ricotta pancakes and the Huevos Ranchero with. Cappuccino and Hot tea. The staff were simply great and we were glad to have made the effort early that morning because they started getting super busy by 11 that morning. Generous portions and super tasty food. Definitely recommend going there

Great cafe for breakfast and lunch. Large space with ample seating. Several vegan and vegetarian options. Ordered the protein oatmeal bowl which was tasty, healthy and filling. Good coffees too

When you enter, you queue up in line to order your food. Once ordered, you find an empty table where they bring out your food. If you ordered a coffee, or a cocktail you do have to stay pretty close to the counter at the bar to hear your order being called out. The food tastes pretty great, and no complaints from myself or the 2 others I dined in with. Solid place to check out if you're in the area.

The matcha and chai alone were worth the stop. The taste and temperature were just perfect—and they were very pretty! I ordered a seasonal fall hash with root vegetables, over medium eggs and sourdough. I ate both eggs and less than half of the hash before feeling quite full. There wasn’t a sauce, which may have elevated the dish, but the flavor and texture of the vegetables was very pleasant without it. My daughter polished off the soup and enjoyed the bread. My cousin had the Cobb salad. She ate about half before being quite full; and had plenty left to take home for a later meal. I will definitely eat here again the next time I’m in Detroit. But, I’ll plan for more time for parking. There wasn’t street parking available during the lunch hour.

Found this by chance today, and gotta say this was a great find! Service was fast and all the workers were incredibly personable. Ended up seeing the avocado toast and ordering that on the spot bc the presentation was spectacular. Very delicious and I’ll definitely visit again if I get the chance! ( also the Irish coffee was so good )

Probably the best bakery / brunch place in Detroit. The egg & cheese sandwich is amazing, so is the chicken sausage & egg & cheese sandwich, too! On the weekend it can get busy, you might even need to wait a bit in line. But it's worth it!

Visiting Detroit and found this place on accident. Wait was a bit long, but that was expected given how busy it was. Food was absolutely awesome. Highly recommend the egg sandwich with chicken sausage and the lemon ricotta pancakes.

Great service and great atmosphere, but food personally wasn’t great. Can’t speak for the entire menu. I had the toast lox and it was just overloaded with nonsense and tasted horrible. sauce tasted like seawater and I couldn’t even cut the bread.Terrible option. My boyfriend got the eggs Benny and that was good though! Also overpriced for what it is, especially since it’s not exactly fine dining.

Stopped in for coffee and breakfast and was completely blown away by the portions of their toasts. The mushroom toast was incredible and easily makes an entire meal! Thank you Avalon!

Went here on a Saturday and the line crept slowly. I was hoping for brunch, but all the tables were occupied. Got salted caramel chocolate chips cookies and pb cookies to go. I have to say they are well worth the hype. The cookies had a crunchy exterior while the inside remained soft and chewy. Also ordered matcha latte with brown sugar flavor. Might be my new go to drink from now on.

Wow! We were blown away and so glad Hudson House had a ridiculous wait so we came here instead! I ordered the lemon lavender Mimosa and my fiance ordered a bloody Mary. The Mimosa was to die for.. He went with his usual breakfast choice of biscuits and gravy and a side of their Cider House Smoked Bacon. I went with a seasonal special, the Bacon Garlic fried rice. All our food was so flavorful and delicious! This will definitely become a favorite food is from now on!

Wonderful place for breakfast and lunch. We had the “sausage biscuit” and the “fried egg, bacon, and avocado sandwich”. Both of these were delicious! The place looks very cool inside and has quite a bit of space. A huge plus is that they have a nice outdoor patio which is dog friendly.

No table service (counter only- a bit different from the Ann Arbor location) but the food an ambiance was still impressive! Our 5yo birthday girl enjoyed her lemon ricotta pancakes, grams enjoyed her veggie melt and I devoured the tuna melt (open faced so I needed a fork and knife). The mimosa was great too! Service is super friendly and the environment is busy and fun. Cheers to Avalon- we love y’all!!!

Food is good enough but nothing to write home about. I was never asked for dine in or carry out so they assumed I was carry out. They give drinks and food at opposite ends of the restaurant which is confusing. They gave me a gigantic paper bag that was totally unnecessary & wasteful. Then I had to ask for silverware because there is none to be found which you think there would be to eat a salad in their restaurant. Got the Cuban which was fine but not super filling and a honey lavender espresso latte which mostly tasted like black coffee. I guess for $20 I expected a little more. For $12-15 and a less confusing experience it would have been 3-4 stars.

We went there Sunday morning with a group of 5. The service was phenomenal and speedy. The restaurant was busy but turned over quickly. Food was delicious, we had multiple toasts, sandwiches, coffees and cocktails. They were great about accommodating a special request for the party. We happened upon this restaurant when there were long waits elsewhere, but we will definitely be back!

While I love their midtown location best, the downtown locale is good too. Nice outdoor seating right along Woodward.

Stopped by for coffee and lunch. Great place to grab a bite to eat in the center of downtown. Got the grilled veggie sandwich which was delicious and my child got the turkey and cheese.
