This is always a solid choice for breakfast on a Saturday when walking downtown or just starting your day. (Well you could go there Mon-Fri too) i love getting the Bacon egg and cheese(cheddar) biscuit with a cappuccino. While they also have some breads that is not this location's focus. It is more of a cafe than a bakery. There is a great park right next door that is open late Spring-early fall. Definitely worth a visit.

It's great that you can get a good cup of coffee at this location once again. It's a fairly open space to either work on your laptop or have a small meeting. It's not too noisy. There's a small meeting room off to the side as well. Bathrooms are down the hall, which is a bit less convenient, but not a deal breaker. I'm looking forward to warmer weather since this cafe has great access to the adjoining New Center Park.

Great coffee shop! I got an almond milk latte and the breakfast biscuit (which is deliciously smothered in honey and butter). The latte was perfect and exactly what I needed. The biscuit was buttery and flaky and much better than those things you get in a can. Will visit again next time I come to Detroit!

I've been consistently impressed by Avalon, and I'm glad that they've opened a cafe in New Center.

Kind of pricey for what you get. Good eats if you're into a healthy twist to a cafe. The outdoor seating was relaxing and clean: my 9y/o daughter was treated to a piece of Chocolate cake for her birthday from the cashier. (she was also given an extra cookie) friendly service/ good 🍞 bread/ close to downtown. It wasn't quite lunch and yet there was a long line with just one cashier.

The sandwiches here are great. They are fresh and the right size for an entire meal. The service is quick and the tuna sandwich is my favorite so far. If you need lunch during the work day, add this to your list! Also, relaxing atmosphere if you decide to dine in.

Way too overpriced. I paid 19$ for a breakfast which wasn't even enough. The coffee is like instant coffees, and didn't taste good. Too cramped. I didn't have space to put my jacket, so I had to sit on it. I guess every body can hear what the people on the other tables talk about. It's good for a quick breakfast but not like a regular place to sit and enjoy. I won't go back.

First visit I built an egg and cheese biscuit. The biscuit is large and very, very good. Egg and cheese were standard as expected. Second visit I got the tuna salad, a blueberry muffin, and latte. Latte was surprisingly mellow, and though $4 is a little high for a small, it was pretty good. The muffin is a bran-style, very low sweetness type. This is how I prefer them. This particular was a little dry than others I've had, but it was still a 4-star muffin. The tuna salad is A+. You can use the phrase "depth of flavor" to describe it. Starts savory, then you get the onion, then dill, and finishes with a hint of sweetness--I think from the pickles. It was absolutely stellar! Staff are friendly and playful too. =)

The staff were exceedingly courteous, greeting us as we entered, and wishing us a great day as we departed. They were helpful in suggesting different menu items. The food was stellar. We ordered a sweet option, their biscuit with butter and honey, as well as a savory frittata. Pairing these two menu items was the perfect complement. Would definitely go back there again.
