This place is one of my mothers favorite restaurants to go to down in Yemen Town. The restaurant uses such good seasoning and spices and gives a perfect portion size for reasonable prices! The even have free hot tea that tastes fantastic and has a really authentic taste. I ordered the Lamb Haneeth and it was some of the most tender and tasty lamb that I have had in a long time. It came with a garlic sauce and a bowl of chopped chilies that was almost like a spicy salsa and some bread. It was a fantastic experience. The service is friendly and fast, I had nothing but praises to give to the young brothers working that restaurant and keeping it running well. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back!

Yemen cafe was ok! The deboned chicken, lamb chops, rice and taboulli salad were pretty good. The bread tasted off, and the grape leaves were soggy. The portion size to price was not comparable. The employees were polite. Our waiter was not attentive at all. However, the kid who was cleaning the tables was. So we split the tip between the two! I appreciate that they are open late, as 97% of restaurants were closed by 11 p.m. We came to Yemen around 12 a.m., and the food was still made fresh.

Yemen Cafe is one of my favorite places to eat in the Detroit area (well, honestly in the USA). The flavors are amazing, the portions of food are large, and it just feels like a great taste of Yemen. Also, the staff there is very friendly and welcoming; Muath was especially good at taking care of my friends and me and making us feel welcome. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Online review said this is one of the best, if not the best Yemeni restaurant in Detroit area. Can't go wrong with a big plate of Haneeth or Gallaba. Next time I need to try their breakfast menu. Food always serves hot and fresh, and quick too. The only knock I give them is that they won't have unsweet Yemeni tea.

First time eating Yemen food and I love it. Didn’t realize the portions are very generous. I think we could have ordered 4 dishes for the 5 of us and will still have leftovers. The honey covered bread is a must to start with, I also like the stew lamb and chicken. The grilled kabobs were good but I feel like I have similar kabobs in other middle eastern restaurants. Feel very authentic as we were the only non middle eastern folks eating there tonight😄

there was a weird african American guy “ homeless “ but violent and rude making everyone uncomfortable, but the staff didn’t care or asked him to leave, i had to leave and take my food to go. Didn’t feel safe Meat was not all fresh, 3 pieces in total , 2 was freshly cooked , and the 3rd was kinda old from morning maybe, bread was burnt ,

First of all, the server Tarek was top-notch and number one! Very professional young man. Can't say enough of his kindness and customer service. Secondly, the food was delicious and savory. We shared the Combo#2 and added two lamb chops. The Lamb Haneeth and the Tuna Fahsah were outstanding! The Falafel wrap--excellent. The bread is plenty. There were six of us and was enough for us all. We loved every little bite of everything. This place is nestled in the town of Hamtramck. If you want top-notch Yemen food, this is the place to get it. Bon Appétit and enjoy the culinary experience.

I have been to this several times and always loved their naan bread which is served fresh and hot out of the oven, but today’s experience was a bit off, it was chewy. Lamb fasah is my favourite from this spot, its a hot sizzing dish of lamb and vegetabkes cooked together into a gravy and served in hot stone, pairs really well with naan and garlic. Their chicken and rice is flavourful and lamb chops are amazing. Their seasoned frenchfires calls for a yummy appetiser while you wait for their food. They sometimes serve tea near the cashier counter and it is flavourful. They have good seating soits and the graffiti outside the restaurant is photogenic. Overall, its a good place for a decent lebanese lunch, flavourful and fresh.

Just paid $65 for food that was worth $30! If I had known, I definitely would have went somewhere else. The only tasteful item was the lamp chop, and even then, it was pretty dry. I added rice to my shwarma, but they didn't add the pickle or garlic in it! And that was the one item that I thought could not be messed up. The food was definitely horrible; I threw it away and gave the lamp chops to my dog. At least they were suitable for her. Definitely not ordering from here anymore.

Tried Fahsa (which comes with Yemeni bread), Gallab and Heneeth. All were really tasty. My favorite would definitely be the Fahsa, and the bread that they served directly from the oven. They open tell late, which was great for us. We were three, the food was more than enough, it would have probably be good if we were four. Waiters were polite and friendly. I also LOVE the free Yemeni tea they offer. One of the highlights.

I never been there before and never had any yemeni food before. I tried today this Deboned Chicken, basically it’s a two grilled chicken breast and nice yellow rice. Amount is perfect and it also comes with great amount of green salad. I love it !

Delicious food, loved the lamb FASHAH. we ordered mostly kabab platters of both kind, and meats are very well cooked with lots of flavor. I liked the lamb and beef more than chicken, which was comparatively dry. They offer free tea, and it tastes extremely good. Was lucky to get a parking instantly, but it can be a challenge. All foods are halal, and they have plenty of space inside the store.

We were visiting Detroit and heard about this place from a friend and thought of giving it a try. I will cut the chase and say it as it is. It’s not great. Chicken was burnt, rice wasn’t cooked very well, grilled chicken was dry. Chops were not tender and were burnt. Seating arrangement is not good, place is very unclean. Servers are nice folks, they are quick and well behaved. If you are looking for a high standard middle eastern or Yemeni food then I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Yemen Cafe has been recommended me since I’ve moved to the area. I hear it’s the spot! It is! My partner and I popped by and were not disappointed. The food was delicious, affordable, and abundant! I had leftovers. We got hummus as well which was fantastic with the bread they served it with. I will DEFINITELY be coming back.

Some of the best Yemeni food I’ve had! Ordered the chicken ghallaba with rice and put it with some garlic sauce, really great dishes. Can’t wait to come back for breakfast. Keep up the tasty cooking folks!

Food was good and hit the spot! My problem is only their humus which was very salty and the yemani bread which was raw from the sides, if we are paying more then 100 dollars so 10/10 is expected. Tea was nice but should be less sweet. Their lamb n chicken were juicy and salad was good, their labneh really enhance the flavor of rice. My son enjoyed the chicken Nuggets. Service was swift and professional. Overall a good experience!

Food was good. I ordered chicken gallaba with rice. Portion was quite generous for 2 people. Yemeni tea was nice too. The service was a bit slow due to short of employees. Rest all is good.

Had a delightful experience at Yemen Cafe! The Lamb Haneet and Beef Gallaba were fantastic—flavors were rich and satisfying. Although the shish kabob was a bit burnt, the staff promptly addressed it with a discount, demonstrating excellent customer service. While the food impressed, there's room for improvement in service. Overall, a tasty dining choice with potential for an even better experience.

By far the best Yemeni food in Michigan. The food has so much flavor and always get more than what you pay for. They give you the best quantity and quality food! Also the tea there is free and the tea is as authentic Yemeni tea as it gets. Overall can’t rate it high enough!!

I wouldn’t want to review at all but I want others to know. This is not a restaurant for everyone, if you wanna try this cuisine try to go somewhere else. Food doesn’t taste great and not worth the money. First I will start the service, we are two people went for dinner last night and when we walkedin there is no one to get us a table, we found a table and waited 15 mins for someone to attend to us. There are 15 tables on the side of restaurant we sat and there is only one person to serve all 15 tables. Finally the guy came to take order- he didn’t ask if we want to drink anything, for the record we weren’t offered water at all throughout dinner. I asked some questions in the menu since it’s my first time . He doesn’t seem like wanna explain anything and barely stood there to talk with us. We digged through the menu and ordered. After 45 mins we got our half order, he forgot some items we ordered. I got hold of him after 15mins and asked about rest of the order and he said i forgot and brought the soup that comes with my order and bread we ordered. Second thing I found hair in my lamb and rice plate. Not just one, 3 or 4. I left my food. And asked about it He refunded for that order from rest of the bill. We couldn’t eat rest of the food after this. Finally i want to say that From the moment we walked in there we felt we are not welcomed. All the time we were there it’s like they don’t want us there. I am feeling sad to tell this but We were treated differently. My friend doesn’t wanna be there anymore and we left. UNSANITARY FOOD, WORST SERVICE ARE ONE THING, TREATING PEOPLE DIFFERENTLY IS WHOLE ANOTHER THING.

This place truly has some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. Everything was delicious. I got the Lamb Haneeth and my wife got the Shish Tawook Sandwich. The Lamb Haneeth fell off the bone and was rich in flavor. The rice that comes with it was so tasty as well as the vegetables. The hummus was incredible as was the garlic sauce. The Yemeni bread was also a step above bread at other local restaurants. Would recommend every one come and try anything from here!
