    My husband purchased a rose gold run well women’s watch. The watch is quite beautiful however after a handful of wearing the watch watch rose gold color is wearing off in some spots. After talking to customer service their solution was for me to purchase a new face at $150 when the watch is only two months old. I find it very ridiculous to spend hundreds of dollars on a watch that is showing critical wear after only a handful of time wearing it. I feel that they should make it very clear before purchasing that the coding wears off. I doubt anyone would buy it if that was the case. I feel taken advantage of.

    Avoid. Brand quality and customer service have taken a nosedive in recent years, if you take a watch in for a simple battery change, they will try to keep the watch and offer a gift card for significantly less than the original purchase price. Sadly this happened to me twice, the first time in 2019. In that instance they backtracked and fixed the watch despite claiming they couldn't. I should have learned my lesson, but instead made the mistake of trusting their customer service with another battery change in December 2022. What was supposed to be a quick in-store replacement turned into weeks after they sent the watch to a factory without asking. UPDATE: Now they claim it was damaged and that they do not possess the skills, means and/or will to repair (the only issue was a dead battery). To make it right, they offered me the broken watch back or a $300 gift card (fraction of original cost) toward a new one. What a joke.

    A kind of eclectic mix of very high quality goods. Leather products, watches, clocks, and bicycles. I noticed a high degree of detail and quality, but that is also reflected in the cost.

    Colin took great care of my girlfriend when she was shopping for my Valentines gift! I absolutely love the piece that she picked out with a great deal of help from the expert himself! 11/10 would recommend and will certainly be back for future purchases!

    I went in to have my watch battery changed. Several days went by and they still don't have my watch finished. I called a few times and they kept telling me to call back. I finally contacted customer service and they told me there was an issue with my watch and it was sent to the factory and now I won't have it for another 14 plus days. I was also told by a shinola employee to look on amazon for a watch band since they don't carry my size band anymore. A pretty disappointing in store experience. Especially to spend a large amount of money on a specialty watch just to be told to shop for an 11$ band on amazon because they don't make the size band I need anymore.

    The service I received was phenomenal! My sales associate was kathy and how she treated us great! My girlfriend bought me a watch and I was happy with the product mainly from the attention we received! Love Detroit made products! Love Shinola! Another great step for my city!

    EVERY time I visit here it's such a cozy atmosphere. All the colleagues here are fabulous & kind. I love that they are animal friendly. The coffee is ALWAYS on point too ♡ I love the little Cafe set up...these are just a few of the reasons why I love coming to this location

    When in Detroit... Shinola is a must for modern-day visitors. Prices are in line with the quality, but may provide a little sticker shock for the uninitiated. Staff are kind and happy to help without being pushy.

    If you are looking to buy quality products this is not the place. Purchased an $800 bag and the stitching came loose within months.I was told that it wasn't covered under warranty after it was sent for repairs. After multiple attempts to have this company back their message of quality and luxury products I ended up having to pay for repairs to be made. If you're looking for smoke and mirrors look no farther. Go hang out grab a free coffee at their cool looking store on my dime apparently. Shinola you should be ashamed of yourself!

    I’ve been wanting to purchase a watch from Shinola for years. Today I finally had the chance to do so and the experience with Danny was phenomenal. He was very patient, inquisitive to what I did and didn’t like about the various watch faces and bands we tried, and ultimately helped me find the perfect one. I’m proud to wear a watch from a company with the values that Shinola has.

    It's one of those experience stores where they cater to your every whim. Valet parking, free coffee, etc. The stuff is pricey, but you already knew that. It's nice to see a company that is in Detroit, hopefully it remembers ten years from now and doesn't start making things in China.

    The Shinola hotel candle and the new updated versions of the candles are the best so far! The original blue glass candles were amazing, the clear glass scents were a little underwhelming and lost that punch of fragrance, now these brown glass candles have matched the original fragrance if not improved upon it. We were recently gifted the smoke candle and it too is amazing! You won’t be disappointed in your purchase regardless of scent selection. The price point is worth every penny and will have your guest asking what it is… but let’s face it, it’s all about your enjoyment of the candles. Can’t wait to buy another and continue to enjoy Shinola products in our home.

    In the heart of Detroit is an amazing experience provided by Shinola. Fashion, hospitality, and customer service come together to impress watch aficionados. While enjoying a trip to see Ed Sheeran, I decided to service my 7 year old Shinola watch. Upgraded band, new battery, and a fully covered repair made my watch new again. Customer service off the charts, thank you!

    Great customer service, probably some of the best customer service i have experienced, i have had issues with things in the past, but the customer service is excellent and any issue has always been resolved promptly as one could expect. The quality is excellent and has been getting much better since its beginning. But they have always stood by their products and worked quickly to resolved any slight issue to a major repair without delay

    First issue was I mailed in my watch to get repaired. Said in my message that I wanted to get a price estimate on repairs before anything was done with my watch. Didn’t hear from them for a week and a half. Emailed to ask about my watch, and said again that I wanted an estimate for repairs before anything was done. Got a response saying my watch was completed. After that received an invoice for $400 for the repairs, and that I needed to pay to get my watch back. Absolutely no communication saying I approved any type of repairs. Second issue is I recently drove 45 minutes to the store to get the battery replaced in both my watch and my wife’s watch. I have done this before, and it took 15-20 minutes at most. This time, brought in my watch and they said it will be 5-10 days to get them back. Told them it is what it is, and I will pick it up when I can. As I’m finishing checking in my watches, another customer came in with his watch battery to be replaced as well and was helped by a different employee. Before I left, I asked the other customer how long they told him for his watch battery, and he was told it would take a half hour and he could wait on it. Obviously frustrated, I left, just for a couple hours to go by and I received an email saying my watches are ready for pickup. I will never return to Shinola after all of these issues. Picked up my watches today and had to pay $25 for each watch for the battery to be replaced. I have found a different jeweler, right around the block from my house that will replace the battery for $10. Poor customer service that doesn’t listen to their customers, and has lost a customer who has been going here and spent a lot of money here since they opened years ago.

    Arrived there to have a watch band serviced. The employee went out of her way to ensure the watch was taken care of prior to us leaving, extremely fast and professional experience. These guys are doing it right!

    Service is wonderful but if you are on a normal working man's budget, you are just looking. I know you pay for quality and service, but even I get some sticker shock. It would be an item you can use most of your life and will to someone, but how many can the average working person really afford. Maybe that is why you don't see a large crowd in any of their stores.

    Worked with Cameron at our first visit to this location. Helped my hubby pick out a watch, very knowledgeable and polite. Highly recommended sales associate!!! Walked out with a new watch and a new bag and couldn’t be more happy- Cameron went above and beyond. Honestly can’t get over how tentative Cameron was during our visit. Be back soon, I’m sure!

    Nice store with beautiful products. We purchased an attractive watch for "her" and a slim RFID security wallet for "him" with designs that we both like. May 2022 update: the Birdy watch stopped keeping accurate time 10 months after we bought it. I thought it was a battery issue, but the rep in the store stated there are multiple issues with the movement. The local store had to send the watch to the factory for an assessment using analysis tools they did not have in-store at Canfield. I will give a few stars for the watch design and customer service experience so far, but I just cannot recommend a watch that stopped working in less than one year. I do believe they will make this right, but this is our first Shinola purchase, and it does not give me confidence in the Shinola brand. While we were in the store looking at new products, we loved the gorgeous design of the Diamond Petoskey Book watch. We seriously considered buying it, but I can't imagine shelling out $2,900 if I have low confidence in the operational quality. October 2022 update: After another 5 months, the watch stopped keeping accurate time AGAIN. Same issue as before, so they sent it to the factory for repair. The only good thing I can say is that they stand behind their products with warranty repairs, but the quality is just not there. Will not buy another Shinola product, and I'm tired of driving from the suburbs to the Canfield location for repair. Dropping another star for my review.

    I was gifted a watch two weeks ago and was heading into this store for a new band on it and possible "tune-up" I've never owned a watch of any kind before, every single step of the process of the store was fantastic. The young woman who helped me (sorry can't remember her name but recall she moved from Midland recently) went over every aspect of the watch and showed me a number of bands and even emailed me helpful information. She didn't try and upsell me on maintenance I didn't need and I really appreciated that. After purchasing a band she lead me to the cafe where I was given a complimentary coffee, and even that experience was wonderful. The barista who helped me was enthusiastic and energetic and awesome. Also can't remember her name but she had recently moved from New York. Long story short: Shinola has exceptional service and watches, and I can't remember names for the life of me, but I'll be heck-darned if I can't remember where people move from?

    No price tags on anything. You know what they say......"If you have to ask the price......". Yes, I was interested in an item or two (not watches) but after being jumped on by 3 salespeople within 6 minutes, felt like I was at Art Van or Gardner White. The commissions must be very lucrative here. Isn't this what hipsters deplore? The whole experience left me thinking.....I'll check it out more online as they have to have a website, right? That's what it's all come to. And why TH are they selling bands for Apple watches in here for anyway?!

    I bought 3 watches in 2 trips to the Canfield store. One $850, another $1,000 and a third as a gift for $1,500. The middle one is the one I wear, and it has a couple small issues. The start/stop button for the stopwatch feature stays stuck down, so you can't use the stopwatch, and also the crown is often found to have come out one notch, which stops the watch from running, so you can't rely on it to tell time. I went into the Canfield store where I bought them to have it serviced in Feb of '22, and they couldn't help me. It took 10 min to talk to any of the 3 people in the service area (one who was working on watches, the other 2 just standing at the counter). Keep in mind, I was one of 2 customers in the entire store, and there were 6 employees in total. Finally after 10-12 minutes I was told it probably had to go to the factory. I said "Fine, let's do that". But the young man was confused, and didn't think they could take in a watch for service. He finally suggested I drive all thee way down to the Shinola Hotel, and they could probably take it in for service there. I didn't have that kind of time. 6 employees for 2 customers and they can't even take in a watch for service?

    I used to love Shinola. My husband has a nice watch from them and has had a good experience with customer service for the watch. Sadly, customer service for online orders is terrible. I ordered a belt as a Christmas gift for my husband which did not fit, and I returned the belt using the pre-paid return shipping label provided by Shinola within the return period noted on the instructions. The belt was returned in the original shipping packaging and original manufacturer packaging with the tag still attached. Shinola sent the belt back to me with a very unofficial looking note inside the box that read “We apologize but your items do not qualify for return due to being final sale, worn, monogrammed, and/or damaged.” None of which applies in this case. The words “final sale” are underlined so I take that to mean that Shinola is claiming this was final sale when I made the purchase; however, nothing in my receipt email indicated that this item was final sale. The receipt email also provided a link to the return policy which I followed. I also received a pre-printed return shipping label from Shinola with my original purchase. If the belt was "final sale" why would Shinola send me the return slip which said my purchase was eligible for returns until January 12th? You can also still buy this belt online as of today, 1/24/24, in the same color and size that I ordered in December and the website says nothing about it being final sale. I've contacted Shinola customer service 3 times with no response. I see some other reviewers have also noted the "final sale" scam that Shinola is running or other instances of difficulty reaching anyone in customer service and ultimately not getting a refund or store credit. I guess ripping me off this one time and keeping my money is worth it to Shinola to lose my business entirely. I will never buy anything from Shinola again.
