First time going was last night (06/18/22). I had a great time! Music was jamming! Perfect mix of of techno, hip-hop, and house music. Drinks are tasty & affordable. I met people I plan to reconnect with and I honestly felt safe. I can't relate to the negative reviews posted here. My boyfriend and I live in Ann Arbor but we will definitely be back.

Great bar, don't judge a book by its cover. Just go in already!

Hands down the best, most inclusive dive bar in town. If you’re going to LCA or the Masonic and want a SUPER strong drink and fun convo stop in. BTW: If you can find fault in anything George or Larry have done then you’re just looking for trouble (lookin’ at YOU 1-star racist reviewers)

Low key cozy dive bar with stiff pours and great vibes. Drinks on the back patio were great enough until the dancefloor opened up and we just had to get out there and cut a rug. Great DJ, good people, and friendly staff - what more could you ask for?!

We stopped in for a drink after a show at the Masonic. A cool historicl dive bar with a fun relaxed vibe. I hear that the dance floor can be hopping on the weekends.

Don't let the dark underground look from the outside deter you, this is a great place to grab a couple drinks and the bartenders are awesome. They accept all walks of life here, just no peddle pubs. When there's no live DJ, they have a juke box you can load it up with your favorite tunes. The dance floor gets busy around 11pm. I've never had any issues with people there. Lost my phone once and someone returned it to the bartender. Drink prices are average, mixed drinks are a bit on the small side. Bathrooms are a bit dingy. Patio out back is a great place to grab some fresh air. RIP to the bar cat that used to be here.

Really interesting place. Definitely a cool place to go chill and relax and get that chill vibe you want and need. Everyone is super nice and I even found a cool easter egg in the back

This a great bar for a quiet night to just hang out. It's small, personal, and just fun. No fancy tables or servers or expensive drinks, just a classic, local bar with friendly people. The bartenders are so cool and chill. Definitely a great place to go after an event at the LCA!

Such a cool environment! Larry served us tonight and made sure he took great care of us! Play your own music selection, challenge your partner to a game of pool, and be sure to sit outside under the lights for your smokers choice lol, cause was so chill out there and even in this cooler weather. Check ‘em out and be sure to tip your bar tender! Highly recommended!

The Temple Bar...we love this place. It is not flashy on the outside, but dont let that stop you. This is a great place to meet before or after a game at LCA or dinner at Basan. You will likely run into some locals who tend to frequent the place. The staff is always friendly and they pour a good drink. They usually have a nice selection of regular and craft beers and have Short Local Light on tap. It's definitely worth stopping in for a drink or 3...enjoy. FYI, they don't serve food, so plan accordingly.

Fun, but they play ear-blasting music at the end of the night to inspire you to gtfo, and then you get to remember them forever with tinnitus.

We paid a $5 cover and the music was awful. Bad disco that never got better. The bartenders were friendly! Dive bar atmosphere. Large outdoor area. Bland interior reminded me of a bar in Tijuana MEXICO! I would not return.

Great dive bar in Detroit for drinks and dancing. Went on a Saturday night and the DJ was mixing up some awesome beats. They also have a pool table and Short's beer on draft. $5 cover to get in.

I would not recommend people of color and minorities to go to this bar. Might I add, this took place on a Monday night and the bar was not busy. All persons mentioned in this review are minorities and the bouncer and bartender were white men. The bouncer was extremely disrespectful. My two friends and I were waiting by the door for my boyfriend to park and bring our ids. He had an attitude from the beginning, interjected into our conversation with snarky remarks, and repeatedly shouted, “are you getting your ids or what?” The bartender had an attitude with us as well. Our other friend walked in to use the bathroom before ordering and the bouncer ran after her and grabbed her in a thrashing manner to check her id. Our last two friends walked in and were not allowed to enter because they are 20. While they waited for their uber inside by the door since they couldn’t enter, the bouncer physically shoved them outside. He proceeded to shout at us that we were “disrespectful” only after we called him the same. He also shouted, “see you never”. He was extremely rude and unprofessional.

No music playing. Boring bar. I must have been there at an off time. The other reviews showed a good place. I was there at 2 pm just to have a cocktail. I'm not from this area so I guess I showed up at the wrong time. Bar tender did not know any about the area.

Had a negative experience here when I stopped in before a show with some friends. This establishment claims to be inclusive to minorities and POC, and this was not reflected during our visit. Not only is this not a value reflected through the service, the employees and owners don't possess this either. One of the people I was with recounted an accurate description of what occurred and instead of apologizing and attempting to reconcile, they gaslight and berated her. Super unprofessional and sad to see white people lacking self awareness and accountability. Like stated in a few other reviews, this is repeated behavior and no one who claims to respect other human beings, should go here.

This is a must-do before a Red Wings game!!! Right around the corner from the LCA and the beer prices are extremely affordable vs what you pay at the stadium. If you are lucky, you might even see little Darla hanging around and get an opportunity to say hi to the Temple's most unique bar patron We found overserves back at Temple after our bus blew right by our stop last night (thanks DDOT). Our bartender was so friendly to us in light of our predicament that she kept tabs on when the next bus was supposed to be by. We struck up a conversation while waiting for the next bus and had a very good time before the bar got busy with Red Wings fans. Shout out to M!!! Will definitely be back here in the future!

I love this place. Old school disco bar with a patio and a pool table. The classic DJ booth with the plexiglass is a nice touch. The staff is really friendly and welcoming. Only a $5 cover.

Came on a friend's recommendation, and absolutely loved it! It was a slow evening, but everyone was quick to make me feel welcome and comfortable, and the bartender was very excellent company and on top of running things. I will definitely be a regular here soon! :)

I found myself in here a few times while I spent a week in Detroit. The staff and patrons were great! I would come back to the city just to hang out here.

Cool after-hours family-owned bar, thats 100 plus years old. Yohan was very cool bartender. Has a jukebox but everything is dated and it feels right.

I feel so robbed that I paid a $10 cover to get into this boring gross bar. Only reason I give 2 stars is because their beer selection was good.

Good place to have a few drinks before event at Masonic Temple. Bar staff were friendly and quick, even when the place got busier before the concert.

Pretty neat dive it wasn't very busy on a Friday evening. $5 cover charge to get in which i did not expect. The dj played some cool dance techno.

Met my Hubby there 18 years ago on October 28, 2005. Music was always jammin', the crew there was awesome, haven't been back in many years but I think this might be a good year to check back on it since our anniversary is coming up. I can't say anyhting about the food beacuse I never ate there except the bar peanuts. Come in, be cool with all walks of life, leave people be and enjoy! That's the mantra...

So definitely a bare Bones bar. They got your basic one pool table and dance area with a jukebox. But you want to go to this place just before concert or some kind of an event at the Masonic temple theater. Basically you can wait out the long line that wraps around the Masonic temple. There was three bartenders on staff when we went and honestly the place is packed elbow. It only took about 10 minutes before we got a spot at the bar to order drinks and make sure you order two doubles. The bartenders really do a great job and try to get you guys ordered and a drink in your hand that's what you need.

IF YOU ARE A PERSON OF COLOR DO NOT COME TO THIS BAR. The service provider which I am assuming was the owner was not only rude and disrespectful but her behavior was downright disgusting. PEOPLE OF COLOR PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE OTHER NEGATIVE REVIEWS these are not isolated cases, she and her staff are known for being rude and aggressive to people of color.

Bartender was nice but drinks were pricier than expected at such a small place. Although it was cozy, there was no food at all but ya gotta love Detroit!

I came here impromptu after a work shift and this place is absolute therapy. The bartender, the people, EVERYONE is so chill. This is where you come to let loose, relax, and shed whatever stressed you out that day. Really enjoyed my time

We stopped by before a concert at the Masonic temple, and it was the best decision ever! Bartenders were so kind and efficient, all the patrons were friendly and the vibes were great. They really care about their patrons. Gave us an incredible impression of Detroit. We will be back!

We went here for a pit stop while in Detroit....it was okay. Cheap drinks. Inside was whatever. I mean it's a dive bar so don't expect much for atmosphere. Granted...I visited during the daytime, so it's likely different at night. Staff was friendly and welcoming!
