The name of this bar is BEYOND misleading. Came here by chance on a Friday only to realize the music was much more modern than we expected, no problem, still had an okay time dancing with friends to 80s and 90s music. For my birthday, we decided to purchase a booth for "Boogie Fever" Saturdays, thinking we would actually get to dance to some old school boogie music.. we were wrong. On Saturdays, the music is mostly 2000s club hits, very little classic music played at all. The DJ refused to take requests, even though the dance floor was pretty stagnant all night. Lots of people standing around and talking instead of dancing. I saw multiple guests try to make requests and even pay the "DJ" to play a boogie song, but all were refused. I can't tell if this DJ is the owner, a friend of the owner, or if management really doesn't care about the music or that their patrons are unhappy. Overall, we were pretty disappointed in the experience and definitely won't be coming back unless management announces a new DJ or music style. Please do yourself a favor and read some reviews before giving this bar your money or time. (PS if you know of a better place to boogie to some oldies music, feel free to comment!)

I have had 5 star times at Boogie Fever in the past. Last night I went on a Saturday night and by 11pm we could not walk from the bathroom to the exit. People were packed in there like sardines. It was so disappointing. This place used to be a free for all place. Everyone is welcome. Last night, Felt like 5th Avenue in there. Never the vibes I used to get from Boogie Fever. If I come again I will be sure to leave by 11 before the massive crowds are allowed in. Just bummed one of my favorite spots has changed into what it is was last night.

Racist dress code, literally said no baggy pants. When I walked in I felt like I was at a high school dance no one knew how to dance and the music was trash. There were throngs of washed up frat bros. The interior gave motel 8 trying to be a Hilton, very tacky. The patrons were also extremely rude and literally pushing my friends to get by, and y’all had the gall to charge a cover?

Very loud, but the music is good. We thought like plenty of clubs, disco lights meant fun colors and a disco ball. But they have and quite frequently use strobes. Which wasn’t mentioned anywhere on their website or doors. Two people in our group ended up sitting in the hallway most of the evening, unable to dance with our friends because of the frequent use of strobe lights.

I was visiting my friends from Chicago. I get here and they tell me my ID is fake (keep in mind it’s a real ID and I had debit/credit cards to back up my identity). We were celebrating a going away party for my friend and they called Sam over (who was apparently the manager) and he realized my ID is real and then denied entry for my friend who was trying to back me up. We were both here before and stayed calm during the entire time. I asked them why they wouldn’t let us in, lied to us about the police being here, and literally pushed us out the door without any explanation. I will never go back here again. I have never had such rude service from any place in Chicago. This disappoints me a lot.

I went to Boogie Fever earlier this year and the atmosphere was a little weird but not terrible. Unfortunately, i made the mistake of trusting the staff and putting my purse in the coat check. The next day i realize my wallet had been taken out of my closed purse. After calling boogie fever for days, i was finally able to go back to get my wallet. However, the girl in coat check has stolen my information. It’s been months and every once in a while i get a declined charge from St. Louis. Luckily i had cancelled all my cards once the owner was rude to me about getting my wallet back, but i still get the notifications that they are trying to use my card. I will never be returning. I spent good money on drinks and left tips, and they stole my information. Please be careful coming here.

Went on a Saturday for my friend birthday. The DJ is a complete jerk and wouldn’t take a simple song request. I thought establishments were supposed to aim to please their customers. GUESS NOT! Boogie needs to fire this cocky dude. Overcrowded 20’s bar with little room for movement. On the up side it was clean. Won’t be returning.

Honestly think three is a bit of a generous review but the music was decent. The place was pretty clean, but alcohol prices were insane with a cover and it definitely got so far past capacity that no one in the entire room could move which is ridiculous. More importantly and my biggest gripe is that they refuse to serve free tap water which I believe is illegal and I think Woody's got in trouble for that before. What a stupid policy at a club that serves alcohol and people sweat while dancing. The only reason that I gave this many stars is that the bartender I spoke to about the water was very empathetic and gave me a bottle.

They should remove Disco from the name. We were there over 2 hours and only heard 3 actual disco songs. The website says there is a dress code. Apparently, it's not enforced. It took less than 15 minutes to have two stumbling drunks spill their drinks on us. Bar staff is awesome, and security is very good. I was disappointed that the disco was gone, not at all like what I experienced in the past. Unfortunately, I will not be going back.

Celebrated my daughter's birthday on Friday evening. We secured a party booth. We arrived around 9:30. It wasn't too busy. Within a couple of hours it started to get crowded. That's when the music got turned up to a RIDICULOUS level! The bass was so deep it was reverberating in our booth to a painful level for one's ears! If you could hear, shouting was the only form of communication. It was so bad that I had to cut my evening short for her celebration. I am by no means an old lady and still attend plenty of rock concerts with no issues. So dear DJ, turn it down! There's no need to blow everyone's eardrums out. The staff is plentiful. I had one bouncer notice I was having an issue navigating back to our booth and he kindly made a way for me. Thank you kind sir. All said and done, my daughter closed the club and enjoyed her party. Just wish I would have been able to stay longer.

My honest review- the club is really cool, love the atmosphere. Big disco ball, raised light-up dance floor, nice decor. But, the DJ that played was absolutely garbage. They may as well have used a Spotify playlist. No mixing, playing the entire song everytime, lots of undancable songs. Came on a friday night for “ultimate throwback decades”. Staff were courteous and reasonable, felt safe. Having free water would be a really good idea however, people need to hydrate when they’re sweating and drinking heavily. Please consider providing free water and finding a new DJ.

We just randomly went there because of the magnitude of the line, to our surprise the music was fantastic, the dance floor was packed, and really unique. We had a blast. We'll definitely be coming back!!!

My girlfriend and I ordered 4 mixed drinks between us. Only 1 came out correct, the other two were either watered down shots and my gin and tonic was not a gin and tonic. Music selection was very mid. Central dance floor was too small.

I have never been to a more unprofessional establishment than this. My friends and I, with out of state driver’s licenses due to being in southeast Michigan for graduate school, were denied entry because the bouncers believed one girl’s ID was fake and she did not look her age. The bouncers then refused to return my friend’s ID and were extremely aggressive and disrespectful until we involved the police. Even after the bouncers returned my friend’s ID there was absolutely no apology for their error or even an acknowledgment. I never would have expected this kind of treatment in a place which claims to be LGBTQ+ and BIPOC friendly. This place is not deserving of your hard-earned money.

I gave the dj $50. He never played my music. Was 80s/90snight. He took my cash and never played my music. That’s fine, just don’t take my money if you’re not going to play my songs. Won’t be back. Sorry.

I haven’t been here in awhile and decided to take some friends and try it out again . There was a line out the door, with quite a few overly intoxicated people , who never should have been emitted in the first place . The place was completely overfilled , I have never seen this place so packed except on NYE . The dance floor was so jammed we couldn’t even move , and they kept letting people in which seems like a fire hazard . I got a well drink , which anywhere else would be $5 they charged me $10 . The drink was water downed and they had no straws or napkins . My friend asked for a drink made with Midori , bartender said they didn’t carry it . What bar doesn’t have Midori or something similar? . The bathrooms were dirty and there was a line all the way out to the dance floor . Girls just standing in there laughing and talking while holding up the line .We ended up using the Mens room . One group of girls kept spilling their drinks on us . This place has just become like a college frat party , people spilling drinks and throwing up , the music wasn’t bad , but we ended up leaving because of how cramped and distasteful the atmosphere was .

Love this place, have four friends future birthdays all planned here cause our group had so much fun. Got to request songs, no lines for drinks or bathroom, and everybody was so nice. Overall just a great vibe, from the people to security and bartenders. We went on a Saturday and it was packed, still fun. Friday was busy but perfect where you could still move around and not have people all up on you.

Bouncers were extremely rude and aggressive. My friends and I were looking for an amazing night out as it was our first visit to Boogie Fever. We will not be returning. Edit: Thinking it was an LGBT friendly bar being in Ferndale was my wrong presumption. We will not be returning. Treat your patrons better. The owner should take criticism and reviews more seriously rather than shift blame and lie on its patrons. Save yourself money and blatant disrespect and go to Orchid around the corner instead!

I was there last Friday night for the first time and it was during Dream Cruise. I was very impressed with the venue, service, and dance area. At the young age of 64, I had hoped to be dancing to some disco and 70's /80s funk. Very little of that and after several requests of 70s & 80s it was apparent the DJ was just shuffling noise! The few funk dance songs he did played you can see the crowd really enjoyed and were on the dance floor. I felt safe with all the security and the bartenders were great but getting a "Long Island Iced Tea" drink in a 6 oz. tumbler glass full of ice made NO sense and so didn't the cost! Overall it was a blast and danced the whole night but would like to see some changes to really make it worth the long drive and long walk to and from the venue again. BOOGIE Fever... music & drink prices can kill your vibe!

Boogie fever was fun experience with my friends! It was lively, played fun music to dance to and the center dance floor was a fun and unique way to get people dancing. The drinks were pricey for even domestic beers and simple cocktails and there was a cover charge. Parking is also a little difficult.

It takes me about an hour to drive from my house in Canada, cross the border and get to this place... but is it ever worth it! Front door only entry is where you will meet the first of the many polite, professional and mostly huge men that make up the Security team. An I.D check, $10.00 dollar cover charge and ensuring you dont show up in jogging pants (there is a realistic dress code in effect) is all you need to gain entry. The front bar area is very nice. Quiet enough to chat with friends or people you meet. To the right you will pass under the "Walk This Way" sign and you will begin to hear the music getting louder as you walk down the hallway. On the right side of the hallway there is a backdrop set up to take pictures. Perfect for ensuring you get at least one great pic to remember the amazing night you are about to have. As you enter the main hall, the music hits you. The main VIP/Party booth is on the right and then the main bar. The bartenders are amazing. Polite, friendly and fast. Whether you're being served by Jayson, Lauren, Nicole, Brian, or Candace, you will be hard pressed not to catch yourself smiling back at the fun and friendly demeanor they all have as they provide you with stellar service. By now you will have a drink in your hand, and start to notice that everyone is dancing, and I mean everyone. The sound system is unbelievable! The DJ, who also just so happens to be the owner of the club, is a quiet professional. He plays a great mix of music every time that you cant help but dance to. He does not take requests, however his mix of music is so good you and everyone else in the club will be busy dancing and having a great time. The dance floor is awesome! A huge disco ball hangs above the elevated light-up main dance floor. If you cant find a spot on the light-up dance floor that is no problem as it seems the entire main hall is the dance floor because everyone everywhere is dancing! The bathrooms are at the back and are nice and clean. There are multiple VIP booths along the walls for all your party needs. The atmosphere is a fun and safe one. This is ensured by the excellent Security team that is one of the best I have ever seen. With members conducting roving patrols and standing at posts, if you needed anything or if any problem did arise, it would be taken care of immediately and professionally. Boogie Fever Cafe and Disco is a great and safe place to come to where you can truly let go and have fun. A place where you can meet with friends and a place to make new ones. It is my go to choice where I feel safe, get amazing service and listen to an awesome mix of music while partying with great people who Im sure are all there for the same reason. So the next time you go out, check out Boogie Fever. I promise you will be glad you did. Joe from Canada 😁

Fun place. Diverse crowd. Some seating in front bar, but very few tables near dance floor. Hard to find a place to put my drink or sit. I love you, boogie fever!!!!, please increase your seating options.

Great place. Sounds are mostly from the 80s, which is a good alternative to today’s mainstream ones. The club has a nice vibe.

Music is okay, sometimes the transition between songs isn’t great and just brings you down. It’s usually not too crowded either. I like that there’s a dance floor and another area with a bar.

This is a great place where people from different age groups meet and dance. Lost of space, the bar is big enough so you don't have to wait in line and there's even an area where you can take a break from dancing. It doesn't get better than that. Also the crew is absolutely amazing. From the bouncer to the manager, everyone is there to make sure you're having a good time.

Don’t bother wasting your time or money here, long lines to get in and to get drinks, mediocre music selection, expensive and weak drinks. The only thing going for this place is the light up dance floor. Better off going to New Way!

They don't have free water when you're dancing all night. $3 per 500 ml!! Really rude security staff, I returned a lost phone and came back to the staff to help the owner get his phone back, they were rude unnecessarily and spoiled the mood. Crowd is good, music is okay. Good thing is that they have a separate bar outside the dance floor to have a chat away from loud music.

Didn't have good. And rating 1 star, because in order to use a credit card in the whole establishment you have to have a chip. For a location to advertise that all are welcome, it definitely is selective in that regard. Also watch for random drunk guys trying to grab. * Other than that it looked like a cute bar.

Went here for a friends birthday. Bought two booths for our group. Bought lots of drinks for the group. But birthday girl stuck fo water. She laid down on her husband after not feeling well after dinner. Suddenly security showed up saying she needed to be walked out. I tried to explain that she wasn't drinking and wasn't feeling well after dinner and asked for 10 minutes to gather our stuff and he said that wasn't allowed and we needed to go NOW according to his manager and it didn't matter that we rented two booths and no one was causing issues. He didn't care and said we had to leave now. I have never been treated so disrespectfully. Especially at a place that is clearly struggling for business. Poor service. Just ok drinks and outdated music. Wouldn't recommend

They don't serve food. Atmosphere is always fun and inviting. They do VERY well with security and protecting guests. Restrooms get pretty bad fairly quickly. Would highly recommend for parties, celebrations, or just a really fun date night.

Girl here, I was just there last night for my birthday party, we had fun but I remember the music being way better, but upside everyone was very nice. I accidentally left my favorite pair of black heels and I’m not sure how to get a hold of someone to see if their still there.

Bachelorette! We had a booth. Over priced but fun. Nicole was an awesome bartender. Lots of dancing. Fun songs at the beginning of the night. DJ did not take requests. He started to suck. The music could have been better. Too many girls barfing in the bathroom. In the rules it states to not let that happen. This place is nicer but not better than 10 years ago. Overall great time.

  • 3/5 S T. 1 year ago on Google
I love the atmosphere and the drinks are pretty good. I’ve had fun nights here, however, it’s the SAME EXACT PLAYLIST every single time. I can make a list of the songs they play. That’s the only reason it gets 3 stars.

Boogie fever used to be a great place for those of us over 30 but now it is over crowded, not enough bartenders and taken over by the 20 something crowd. Sad really.

  • 3/5 Nyles F. 1 year ago on Google
I mean if I was in my 20’s and on the prowl boogie fever would be alright. As an adult (which is questionable) in my 30’s, a different type of venue where I can hear people and relax is more my jam. But if you want to get white-girl-wasted and dance this would be a great spot.

  • 5/5 Rob A. 4 years ago on Google
The dance floor is quite large and lit with a massive disco ball. The colorful lights make it SUCH a fun environment!! The front is a smaller bar, and the back is where the bigger dancefloor is. A very friendly and professional coat rack service. Plenty of room to move around and a really great crowd! Would recommend highly to anyone!

Unfortunately the owner and security of this business didn't put the effort in to talk to customers accordingly. A great friend and lawyer slipped on their floor numerous times due to the wet floor. Rather then her complaining she removed her shoes. The owner and secretary guard stopped her while she was just dancing and bluntly told her to put her shoes on or get out. Told her "what was she a hillbilly" We never felt so uncomfortable in a business setting as we did tonight. As a business owner I was so offended by his intimidating expression. They were so aggressive that we felt obligated to start recording them cause we were concerned for our safety.

Great bartenders and security but the DJ was trash. Didn't take requests or play any of the classic oldies. Drinks are also ungodly expensive for a place like that. Great sound quality but probably won't be back

👍👍 About 95% of the wine I drink comes from Western Market. Their wine selection and the knowledgeable folks working the wine section make Western one of the best places to buy wine in metro Detroit. Prepared foods are excellent. They have recently remodeled and the store looks better than ever.
