Went TO spotlite tonight and they were closing and they referred us to Motor City Wine. Got there not too busy was able to approach the bar right away. A bartender with dreads approaches me. I ask him about a beer he gives me a somewhat rude response but i just let it slide and keep ordering (I’m also a bartender). So as I’m trying to see what all my friends want because we just got in the building and we are still searching the menu m. The bartender starts literary yelling at us “Guys you gotta have it together” and starts to have a shouting match with another person in my party. We try to just switch bartenders but they were so linked tight that they were conforming to what the other one said and refused to serve. WILL NEVER come to this place again.

My friend does not drink wine but ended up here, and was treated very poorly for asking if there were other options. Obviously this is a wine bar. We get that. However, many wine bars offer other options, as this one does, so it was not absurd to ask. These bartenders were WAY too cool for us, I guess. There is absolutely no need to be condescending the way that they were, as well as completely unwelcoming.

Super small portions of charcuterie for a way overcharged fee. I paid $100 for a few small slices of meat and cheese. The bartender also kept asking if I was sure because it's "a lot of food." I'm not sure why these people starve themselves, but it's not enough food to satisfy even a newborns' appetite let alone a grown adult.

Motor City Wine is a great spot! Wide selection of by-the-glass, and a varied bottle section. They have tastings and live music. The owners are so friendly and knowledgeable!

We weren’t even welcomed into the place before we were asked where our masks were. This is despite it not being an ordinance in Detroit. It is beyond ridiculous to ask someone to wear a mask to enter, only to have them take it off once they’ve ordered a glass of wine. Unless they planned for us to try to drink our wine with masks on, which would defeat the purpose of oenology. Masks didn’t work the first time, they won’t work now, especially at a wine bar.

From the outside, at first glance, it looks like a little hole in the wall spot, but once inside, the ambience, charm, and great live entertainment of Motor City Wine make it a very cool destination stop in the city. If you happen to appreciate fermented grapes, the eclectic revolving wine list from around the globe puts the icing on the cake. Nestled along Michigan Ave's historic Corktown, it also has delicious pop up food vendors and a spacious outside patio area. I rate it two thumbs up!

Amazing space! My partner picked this place and was excited since he heard great things. I, at the same time, was looking at Resident Advisor and saw that a fun event was taking place here, too. We are so happy we went. Amazing vibes, great crowd, chill- and welcoming giving the music tonight was a fun DJ. — love love.

Overpriced, snooty staff. Staff clearly stereotype people walking in and you will be treated rudely if you're not an artist type or fit their vibe. It's really a poor music venue as well despite having decent musicians come through. Acoustics are terrible.

I've visited the Motor City Wine bar several times and every time I'm there I encounter the rudest bartender I've ever met. I really enjoy the environment but I will not go back. My suggestion...if you have a bad attitude every time you come to work... stay home. Don't ruin the experience of faithful patrons and jeopardize the reputation of an otherwise nice establishment.

I had a very pleasant evening there. The music was great and the crowd had fun. The wine was good also. They don't have food just bar snacks. Wine, cheese and crackers.

This place is one of my favorite wine bars in the city first and foremost. However, I went in with my partner on 11/9/23. Things seemed great until my interaction with the bartender Anthony. I jokingly told him that my partner was making fun of me for ordering Moscato (I'm a beverage Director and wine nerd btw) in which he responded with "I don't care what you want, just hurry up". I've been in F+B in Detroit for a decade and I've never heard nor would I ever say that to a guest. It was completely inhospitable and unwarranted. This instance doesn't devalue the love I have for mcw, but I can't in good conscience recommend it to my guests and won't be back for a while.

Very cool place to bring some friends grab some wine and catch a vibe. They often have pop-ups of different restaurants or those working to open a restaurant and the food is always so tasty!! The DJs are always bringing the vibes and the patio is top tier!! The bartenders are very well informed and can help you make choices on wine and recomend something new!

Fantastic natural wine spot in Detroit. Predominantly European wine, but very wide range and the staff are super friendly and knowledgable about their stock. Don’t let the looks from the outside put you off, it looks closed, perhaps even slightly abandoned at first look. Even the door with the open sign looks like it’s closed, but go inside and it’s a great spot. Good bar for drinking in, lots of seats and a huge terrace at the back. Would very much recommend this place if you are a natural wine fan

I love this spot, especially in the summer when they have live music on the patio. No better way to spend a hot summer night than getting a bottle of wine with friends at mcw.

They were not busy at all but didn't even bother to speak with us until we were on our way out the door. I wanted to pick up a few bottles for a party and maybe have a drink but we got no acknowledgement except an icy stare and a "how's it goin" as we left.

I'm not the biggest wine drinker out there but really enjoyed the selections and loved the live dj set as well. It's a groovy place to sit back and drink a glass!

Nice place, friendly staff and good wine selection. We had an awsome time on the confortable patio listening to the Detroit beats. Definitely a must in Detroit, one of our best discovery during our travel to motor city!

Asked to wear a mask(actually the bartender just pointed to his mask as we were entering, I had to ask if they required masks) upon entry, no worries we will definitely comply. Ordered a drink for my wife and myself while the bartender Anthony stood with absolutely off-putting stance (standing behind the bar making no suggestions with his arms crossed) Upon ordering asked If we could remove our mask while drinking our wine (remember, this is a wine bar…) the bartender told us, “ that’s fine, but I’m going to stand down there” and proceeded to cross his arms and check his phone. We asked to see a manager as we felt intimidated and very lacking in hospitality. The owner/Manager Melissa approached us and asked what was the matter. We explained the issues that we had and the lack of hospitality that we felt, she seemed unconcerned. She said that “we all have to do our part” we explained that we were fully vaccinated, and how were we supposed to enjoy a glass of wine with a mask on? We were told that “everyone is out on the patio”, we decided to look because there was not another human inside and there were maybe 6 people on the patio. Definitely not the way to run a business. I completely understand being cautious because of Covid, but to succeed you have to find a way to protect your team and your patrons while still being hospitable, we are in the HOSPITALITY industry.

I visited about a week ago. To my surprise, the establishment was very welcoming! I definitely will be going back there soon! Thanks to one of the guys there that Thursday, I got a little better understanding of the types of wine as well as which wine I preferred!

Detroit wine spot staple. Great selection of domestic and international wines that are carefully curated by the owner. They have a great patio perfect during summer and there is always a live music situation happening. A most stop for a chill vibe with locals for either before or after dinner. Won't disappoint

I love this place. I don't even care about their ridiculous obsession with masks. They make up for it with great bartenders, cool music, and a beautifully weird ambience. They are one of the few places in Detroit (maybe the only one) with a commitment to good music and good wine. It's also nice that Ima is right next door. Dinner at Ima, drinks at MotorCity Wine. The only thing they're missing is a dessert menu.

Nice chill vibe and great music. Pretty decent selection of wine, however there were no flutes for sparkling wine which is odd considering it is a wine bar. I've been to small rinky dink restaurants that at least have proper glassware for champagne.

HAHHA motor city wine bar, was so happy to support my city but was told a 20$ bottle of sake was good by the bartender who suggestion turn out to be nasty and the bartender didn't even even want to taste with the group after suggestion . I even talked to the black guy about snack suggestion for my friends and he don't care never agree

Such a wonderful spot to get together. They have an amazing wine selection. They also have a few other things, like ciders, for people who don't like wine. The place is small, but lovely, and the staff isbreally helpful and friendly.

Chill atmosphere with good kind service and affordable prices. The interior design could be better. The bar is nice and little music set, but the wine area doesn't seem to flow well with the rest of the space.

A great natural wine bar & store. They have both an expansive patio and a good amount of interior seating.

Caught up in the rapture of cool vibes. The cozy patio and DJ were the cherry on top of a perfect sundae. Service and ambience was stellar.

Saw this place on UTR-Michigan and had to try it. After a belly full of sliders and Bell’s at Green Dot Stables, I thought a glass of red would be a good end. Dark, cool interior was a great respite from the heat and the selections of wine was spectacular. Even better was the patio where I stretched out with my glass of Spanish red. There were olives to munch on for a perfect night cap. Pure bliss.
