This
was
my
first
trip
to
Belle
Isle
in
3
years.
It
was
a
beautiful
summer
day
on
July
4th
weekend.
There
was
a
long
line
to
get
on
this
State
Island
Park,
formerly
a
City
of
Detroit
park.
I
have
been
coming
here
my
entire
life
more
than
60
years.
Things
have
changed,
mostly
for
the
better.
You
now
need
a
State
of
Michigan
Recreation
Pass
to
enter.
Today
was
so
busy
the
entrance
sentry
waived
everybody
through.
My
first
observations
are
how
clean
the
park
now
is.
As
far
as
I
could
observe
all
comfort
stations
are
now
open
and
very
clean!
Scott
Fountain
was
so
clean
and
beautiful
I
hardly
recognized
this
iconic
Detroit
landmark!
The
beach
is
so
nice
and
clean
and
family
oriented
that
it
was
heart
warming!
Young
children,
ice
cream
truck
and
umbrellas
abound!🌞The
last
time
I
was
here
the
island
was
swarming
with
Michigan
State
Police
cars
pulling
people
over
in
mass.
Today
I
did
not
see
a
single
State
Police
officer,
however
I
saw
an
inordinate
amount
of
Michigan
Conservation
Officers,
lights
flashing
and
quite
imposing.
Obviously,
we
want
a
park
where
there
is
a
presence
of
law
enforcement,
but
it
goes
too
far
when
you
feel
like
a
police
state.
All
in
all
a
very
pleasant
experience
looking
at
Canada,
the
Detroit
River,
the
freighters
and
friendly
people!😃
