🫤 Great concept & beautiful building. Friendly staff. Great food. Amazing scented hand soap & lotion. I want to love it fully! The two stars are for how noisy it is. It’s not a relaxing, spa type of environment IMHO. It’s hard to relax with so much noice/loud talking. It’s *really loud* especially in... Great concept & beautiful building. Friendly staff. Great food. Amazing scented hand soap & lotion. I want to love it fully! The two stars are for how noisy it is. It’s not a relaxing, spa type of environment IMHO. It’s hard to relax with so much noice/loud talking. It’s *really loud* especially in the eating area. I was speaking with others near the bathroom (the only relatively quiet place there) & we agreed it would be much better if they could close off the eating area & keep other areas in a relaxing/spa/quieter atmosphere. Since it’s all open, including the massage areas, I personally find the noise makes it hard to relax fully. Even the steam room is like a party. Sundays are super crowded. I’ll try a Tuesday if I can.

Owner did an Amazing job keeping the original look from when I was a kid and updating so much. He made it a better place and environment and has succeeded beautifully. If you are looking for the Best steam and relaxation you ever had in your life go here. They offer a lot as well. They have local venues come in such as food, facials, massage, tarot, reflexology, and so much more. Even food venues as well and they always switch them up. Plus you can follow them on Instagram and find the local venues that are going to be there for that day. I would definitely recommend and try. You will never regret it. Just make sure you are hydrated before you go; the heat is no joke. So Amazing!!

If your want relaxation. This is the place. The ONLY BATH HOUSE with old world charm Go alone and soak up the quiet time. Take your significant other on couple night. Or take a few friends with you for some chat time. Don’t forget to taste the good food. Steam/sauna/pool/massages. The scalp massage was awesome. It’s all there. FYI: Sunday ladies day ( lots of chatter and friendly gathering). I love Friday couples night Other days available. Check them out.

I’ve been coming here recently to photograph brunch events for a friend and from what I’ve seen this is the perfect spot in the area to come to if you’re looking for quality massages, a steam room, aswell as a room for smoking and areas to relax. Pretty cool staff aswell. Overall good vibes indeed.

SO glad I finally started visiting. An amazing experience I would recommend to anyone. My original review stands 3 years later. If I were able to elevate my love to 1000 stars, it would still not be good enough. A safe space for all comers, male, female, trans, in between, or all of the above. I feel lucky to have such a wonderful haven♥️

What an experience! First time we came as a group of 3 girls on a Saturday. People of all ages were there and overall friendly environment. this is a historic building so be prepared for showing some age along with the character. Not a brand new place. There are two saunas (dry & steam) and a cold pool- most people do cycles: sauna, JUMP in the cold pool, sauna. For the full experience, you have to do the polar plunge.. it’s like no other! also, Drink lots of water and take off jewelry before the saunas. Bring sandals and a robe or you can rent both. There is a small kitchen serving food and you can BYOB. Recommend drinking alcohol only after your sessions- not before or while sauna-ing!

Tried this place out for the first time, and wasn’t disappointed! It’s a very good alternative vibe to the modern day spa, or if you are just interested in having somewhere to escape to. I personally have never been a big fan of those big, corporate, over priced spas. The Sauna is hot 🥵 but revitalizing. It’s one of those things that you didn’t know you needed until you got it. The food was amazing, shout out to the chef 👨‍🍳. ( Suggestions ) Bring more life savers candy 🍬 I ate all of the ones in the welcome bowl, after you guys refilled it 😂🤣😅 Sorry.

I had a really amazing time here! The people are hospitable without being overbearing. The sauna is classic and chic. The food and ambience added a great amount of charm. The heat was very helpful for back issues I’ve been experiencing.

I enjoyed my time here. However, based on the website, I was under the impression that it was a bathhouse with hot, warm, and cool pools. There is a dry sauna, hot sauna, and a cold pool at about 45-50 degrees which is quite a refreshing plunge after spending time in the heat. The upper lounge areas are cozy and welcoming. Being vegan, I didn't plan on sampling any of the food, but other patrons were quick to say how good it all was. I spoke with a gentleman who had been visiting the establishment for almost 40 years and had nothing but good things to say about everything within and gave me a little history and pointers for when I visit again. There are massages available, as well (separate fee), though I wasn't there long enough to partake. There's a smoking lounge and security for your parked vehicle. Be sure to tip the doorman as he's making sure your car stays safe.

The Schvitz is one of the best places/experiences I have ever had! Every feature downstairs helps you relax & takes the stress away. The food that is available is ALWAYS good! Definitely will be a place you can’t stay away from once you go.

I was overwhelmed by the warm reception of the staff. They were very accommodating to offer suggestions for my day visit. All the services were really fantastic. Reminds me of awesome places I've been in Europe and in New York. I'll be back there soon!

There isn’t a greater experience in Detroit than The Schvitz. Relaxing and inviting are just two words to describe this magical place. Is it old? Yes. Can the thought of going be intimidating? Sure. But push those anxious thoughts aside and just do it! It’s truly addictive. The staff and management are fantastic. Friendly and a family like feel. Make this place a healthy habit your body and spirit can’t live without!

I love how relaxed & healed I feel after each visit. It ALWAYS smells delightful here. If i could package the scent & take it home with me - I WOULD. Sonya who does my facials, is the ABSOLUTE best ♡ having a variety of specialized food for brunch is an additional perk each week

This is my secret hideout (from everyone that I know) place. The people that come here are so nice. I've never had a bad experience. So sad that's its temporarily closed...I'm craving my relaxation time.

I absolutely love The Schvitz. I always have a lovely experience. The staff is so friendly and helpful. I love both the dry and wet sauna. They have so many different spa services available - such as Lilly's AMAZING Platza. It is truly life changing. Lilly is an absolute delight. Such wonderful energy. Also- Make sure to follow them on Instagram to stay up to date regarding food options, hours and spa service bookings. I'm so happy we have such a wonderful place in our neighborhood. I always feel refreshed and renewed after I leave.

This place was great. The man Carmelo was extremely nice and welcoming. But the kitchen..... The kitchen is a whole different conversation. The nice sweet smiled kitchen staff includes a dynamic duo that no other place has seemed to match. The food is the best I've had. I've been all over the world and enjoyed meals. But this place... oh man. Heather and James work the kitchen and they never miss. Babe Ruth for real!!!! The environment is a mix of welcoming. Comfortable a nice family vibe with a touch of cold reality that we all need nowadays. Would recommend! James aka Rambo is really the man with the plan. Plus the building has so much history. Matter a fact I ate my steak with Capone.

Had a wonderful time at The Schvitz. Went on a Tuesday for ladies only. Had a phenomenal massage ( have to book through Insta). Fantastic time hanging out with my sister and best friend enjoying the saunas and cold pool. Highly recommend!

Unique place with a old world character. The building has some age to it, so don't be alarmed. The place is very clean. Downstairs, there are two saunas and a cold pool. Highly recommend to do a polar plunge for a wonderful body reset. There is a small kitchen upstairs, and you can BYOB. Everyone who was there was really respectful of only using what was theirs when I was there. In addition, they had two brunch options for fresh food while I was there. I did not order anything though. I'd recommend you bring sandals and a robe, or you can buy one there.

The Schvitz is truly a hidden gem in Detroit. It’s rich in history and the environment can only be described as super relaxing. The saunas are the best around and the employees are knowledgeable and super kind. I’m the winter there is truly no better place in the city. Such a great place to bring out of towners if u want to impress them with a true luxury in our beautiful city.

Unfancy “unfussy” but cozy and cherished. I hear they have pop ups and food. Ladies’ day was so comfortable! I’m going weekly for the dry sauna and shower combo

Lily gives the BEST Platza services! Highly recommend her bodywork. The space is a little awkward at first with how it's laid out. and definitely haunted bc I felt the presence of several spirits, but the staff and my friends I went with helped me navigate the experience. I didn't get to get the food but the selection was pretty diverse and it all looked good. I brought my own robe so i didn't have to rent one. Bring a lock for the lockers too.

Thanks to the Schviitz crew for taking care of me yesterday when I passed out in the sauna . And special thanks to whomever bagged all of my stuff from my locked locker for me. Did you happen to see a money clip fall out from the inside of my coat?

Great lil spot. Steam room, dry heat room (doesn't always work so ask before you pay) and cold plunge pool! The trio ..It works! I don't know how but you come out come transformed. Popup cafes means delicious healthy snacks and meals on site too. They have a variety of practitioners, check their website as it changes daily.

Great place to go and relax! I can't recommend this place enough if you enjoy sauna. Workers are nice and helpful. The building is beautiful from the outside in you can tell this is a piece of Detroit history still alive and thriving in 2023! If it's your first time come prepared. I recommend a beanie to prevent your hair from roasting in the sauna, bring a water bottle, flip flops and maybe some electrolytes because you will be sweating!

Very nice with a dry and wet sauna, cold pool, and multiple showerheads, and great staff. Would love to visit again but in this economy?? $40 per visit with no membership option would run me dry
