Great place for a walking day trip to enjoy some wild life. The front gate is automated and accepts credit cards. Usually day trips are a $10 toll. Most people just park at the entrance and walk in. It's about a 15-30min walk from the entrance to the beach, but you hardly notice how far it is. - There's 2 boardwalks. - A large viewing tower over looking the waterways. - A decent beach with recently built washrooms, with changing stalls inside. - A super large picnic area, which used to be the grounds weekend camping spots for individuals. - Season trailer camping sites for those lucky enough to have gotten spots. - A brand new cabin that can specially booked for private grounds. During the spring there are good bird spotting opportunities during the regular migrations. This area is on a heavily used bird route. Usually theres lots of facilities and presentations about the local bird life. On my last trip on May 2021, I saw: Beavers, deers, cranes, swans, ducks, geese, herons, hawks, various other small & colorful birds. There's also popular fishing areas across the grounds. During the winter months, the south facing beach gets great sunrise and sunset views.

Lovely park with many trails ranging from marsh boardwalk, woodland, gravel, beach and green grass. A great place to social distance and spend a few hours in nature. There is a permanent campground as well but it doesn't interfere with the rest of the walking. Some paths can be biked, other walked. Saw loads of wildlife, cranes, swans, snakes, muskrat, geese, ducks, fish and birds. Highly recommend.

Loved this place. The Beach was good, a little bit crowded though. There's also a Hawk Tower which we didn't visit because it was a little bit crowded. The place has enough garbage cans as well as recycling bins, which I found to be a very thoughtful thing. Also, there's this large campground site for RVs which I guess would be getting filled quite rapidly. Will try to visit this place again, hopefully this summer.

Disgusting beach!!!!!!. Floating tampons, dead fish and garbage everywhere. We paid 20$ to go see a dump site like what is wrong with this place? They should be paying us tax payers to go there. How is anyone submerging themselves into that water is beyond me! This place doesn't even deserve a half star rating but I was forced to give one just so I could post this. I will never go back and if you care about your families health, you wont either. GROSS

We love walking through here year round. The boardwalks, and road are fairly well maintained and an easy trek. The beach is relatively well maintained and is a great spot to view the sunset. There are many swans and geese nesting in the area. You can spot beaver, muskrat, herons, deer and other wildlife regularly. Fish in the creek, trout pond or lake. Camping is seasonal only.

Seaweed prevented easy access to the water. The sand was full of debris and unkept. Small. Disapponting is an understatement for having to pay to get in.

Let the kids bike around here today. Gravel is loose in a few places so they each took one fall. Enjoyed seeing lots of fish and birds. Wish the construction trucks didn't drive so quickly!

Holiday Beach Conservation Area is another perfect place for walking some lovely nature trails. Many thanks to ERCA for all their continued efforts. Very clean area with just a few pieces of garbage floating around. I'm grateful for all the garbage cans for people to throw their trash in. Be sure to layer up with your clothing and dress appropriately, with a wind proof outer layer and you'll be fine to enjoy the windy beaches of Lake Erie. Cold day today, but always a beautiful visit. Thank you.

Overall the park is very secluded and quiet and you don't get the usual number of visitors that you would get at other conservation in Ontario. I'm not sure if it is a newer place and that is why a lot of things are just you and look very unused and clean but they are. The only thing that I felt that was kind of odd was that the public bathrooms were closed for day visitors.

Holiday Beach at Essex Region Conservation is a picturesque destination along the Lake Erie shoreline. ๐Ÿ–๏ธ This conservation area offers a pristine sandy beach, making it perfect for a relaxing day in the sun, picnics, or even a vacation retreat. Holiday Beach Conservation Area boasts a range of amenities, including seasonal campsites, a charming rental cottage, modern showers and washrooms, spacious shaded picnic areas, a playground for kids, nature trails to explore, a boardwalk, and a three-story observation tower providing stunning vistas of the surroundings. ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿก For those interested in nature and conservation education, Holiday Beach is one of the sites where Conservation Education Field Studies take place. It's a great opportunity to learn about the local ecosystem and wildlife. ๐Ÿฆ‹๐ŸŒฟ Entry to this beautiful park is convenient with a credit card-friendly automated gate, and it's open for day use from 6 am to 8 pm daily, from mid-April to Thanksgiving annually. ๐Ÿš—๐ŸŒ… What makes Holiday Beach truly special is its international recognition as an Important Bird Area (IBA). It's known for raptor migration and serves as a breeding area for Prothonotary Warblers, a nationally endangered species. Don't miss the renowned Festival of Hawks each September, where you can witness the majestic migration of thousands of hawks, vultures, eagles, falcons, and other birds of prey. ๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿฆ‰๐Ÿ Whether you're into birdwatching, hiking, canoeing, fishing, or just enjoying the outdoors, Holiday Beach has something for everyone. ๐Ÿšฃโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸŒ…๐ŸŽฃ So, if you're looking for a place to connect with nature and explore the beauty of Lake Erie's shoreline, Holiday Beach at Essex Region Conservation is a top-notch choice! ๐Ÿž๏ธ๐ŸŒŠ

A great place to go for a walk on the Off season if you want a walk in peace and quiet. Park free at the entrance and walk in to enjoy the trails all the way to the beach. When open for the season, expect to pay the entrance fee and know that it is much busier and noisier as it is a popular family campground.

We are seasonal campers. Although we haven't had the chance to fully enjoy much time out there, we do love being there, when we can. The beach itself, is very well maintained, the staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the public restrooms are actually kept immaculate. The grounds are kept beautifully, and most visitors seem to respect the conservation area. It's a beautiful place, that needs to be kept that way. I always look forward to any time I get to spend out there!

Nice park, decent trails however some areas were flooded when the water was high. Wasn't too busy and provides access to the various bodies of water in the area.

Great place to hike trails, walk the beach, explore and enjoy nature. Visit the 3 storey lookout especially for birdwatchers during migration seasons. Entry is $12 through an automated gate which accepts credit cards

We came for the festival of hawks. It was fun to see the birds they were capturing and banding. I adopted a kestrel. It was fun to climb the hawk tower and see the all the migrating birds and the surrounding wetlands. Make sure to bring binoculars.

Thw park id beautiful, however, nobody for the park is around. It is a conservation area and a group of people just turned the music so highlyโ€ฆ it is not a space for thatโ€ฆ.

  • 4/5 Negin Z. 3 years ago on Google
Surprisingly, there is always a few visitors there! Or maybe the area is enough big that everyone has his own privacy. There is a washroom and showers near the beach. The beach is not perfect but the park is fabulous.

A nice place for a day trip. Huge grassy areas to kick around a ball. You can walk around the marshes on the boardwalk or climb the bird-watching tower. Camping facilities also available. The beach is officially closed due to high water levels. But you will find a few people sun-bathing on a weekend.

Getting out of the city, but not too far from home, and escaping here occasionally has been a new thing for my family. Very quiet and peaceful. A great way to enjoy nature. I personally would not recommend wading or swimming.

I was disappointed visiting Holiday Beach, I was there in the 60's when it was a Provincial Park, remembering the fond memories at that time. Yesterday's visit was very disappointing at what I saw.
