Majority of the spaces are empty, and many stores are having their closing sales. The food court only has a couple of tenants left. Half of the escalators/elevators don’t even work anymore. People seem to come here primarily for visiting Macy’s or JCPenney. Quite unfortunate given how spacious the mall is and the location is also very good.

Many stores are closed. Probably results of pandemic. Food court only has 3 places to eat. But it was quiet and quick shopping because of low traffic. Quickest mall trip I ever had. 😀

Pretty much everything is shut down or shutting down. I've noticed the past few times I've come that many places are closed early, like 2 to 3 hours early. On the plus side if you find a store you like and it's open your in and out in now time because of the low traffic. The piercing shop is never open. They have a sign with hours on their counter, but I've tried buying from them 4 times now and everytime they don't show up.

Great fun place for a car show during the summer. But the car show will be ending on the second week of September so if you have any cool cars bring them in every Monday 4:00 to 8:00

Most of the shops were closed and it was almost empty when we visited. Eating options were also very less. It has a huge parking space.

The mall is nice but eerily empty! A few years ago this place would have been packed at this time of year.

I came here the day before Christmas Eve and forgot how fun it was to just shop in person. I highly recommend coming to the small, there is still a lot to see! Tons of deals too!

So sad. Many stores are closed. I know from reading the paper that there are plans to develop it further and use up the space. I hope they do it soon!!! There are so many wonderful memories here, and it's just a shell of its former greatness. Hope it can come back stronger than ever!

Ah, Lakeside Mall. It's true that malls are dying but I heard they have big plans to change Lakeside Mall into something new. I think they want to put a hockey rink or a roller rink in there. More like a convention center or something. I was just in there and there are stores still there. People were still there shopping and old people still doing their laps. It's true many stores are gone but if we could just try to get out more to look around instead of a screen, we can save malls. Get the teens to hang out instead of their rooms. Malls were and still can be the meeting place or hang out place. Food courts and people watching can be fun. We need to get back out there. Covid had us locked in, let's use the malls to get back out.

Remembered this mall years ago; things have definitely changed. Several stores, grab and go restaurants (Cinnabon etc.) have closed. Several clothing stores are of inexpensive poor quality items. Only good thing, the mall was clean.

This mall should be permanently closed. It is not safe and desirable any longer. Most of the good stores are gone, and the remaining stores are grossly unkept. Even the merry go round is gone. Just a vacant shell of once a historical landmark.

Depressing to see how empty this place is. Especially when my husband and I can remember how it once bustled with crowds of people, packed stores, and big chocolate chip cookies (The Cookie Factory - Yum!). Feels like a ghost town now. Times have definitely changed. Just seems like it's time to move on to the next endeavor planned for this enormous property.

This was the mall of my youth. Back in the late 70's my friends and I used to hang out here and go shopping for everything. Now it seems to be going the way of most malls. Half the stores are empty. I love the shoe store across from the food court, but that's about the only store I would go in. It's so sad to see the death of these dinosaurs.

Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights, MI is a must-visit destination for anyone looking for a great shopping experience. The mall offers a wide variety of stores and services, from clothing and home goods to electronics and toys. And with a variety of restaurants and food options, it's the perfect spot to spend a day shopping and dining. Plus, with frequent events and activities, there's always something new and exciting to discover at Lakeside Mall. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great shopping experience in Sterling Heights.

Brought back the nostalgic feel of a mall. Had a great time walking around and window shopping. Also made a few purchases. The foot court was pretty disappointing was there after 2 pm and most the dining was closed.

Used to love it here but it's a ghost town now. I only visit when I get my hair cut at JC Penny's. My daughter thinks the mall is creepy downstairs. There are a lot of vacant spots.

I'm disappointed to hear this mall will be closing down soon. So many stores already empty, but the ones still open are AWESOME!! Hot Topic, F.Y.E., anime, pretzel shop... Will definitely miss the nostalgia of the mall 😢

A shadow of what it was in the 90s and early 2000s. Such a shame what Amazon has done to brick and mortar stores. Such great formative memories at this once thriving mall. I'm extremely sad my children will likely not have similar experiences.

Lacks the charm of the other big malls in Metro Detroit area but it is managing well to stay afloat 😀👍 These days I really wonder if anyone really goes to this mall anymore

It's half abandoned, but I remember when it was full of life and stores when I was 7. I miss the 2 story carousel. Good place for Nostalgia for me. -Here are some photos of it now.-

I will always love this mall. Even now after so much has closed and gone away, I still managed complete my Christmas shopping this weekend and find really nice things for everyone. FYE is still there and JC Penney and Macy’s too amongst others. When shopping for myself I prefer to try things on and see a variety of clothes and treat myself to some “me time”. Going from store to store in a closed building in the winter is a billion times nicer for me than being outside in the bitter cold. Long live Lakeside! Hoping mall culture comes back.

It's a shame the mall is so empty. But it has a silver lining... I took my grandkids to see the dinosaur display, which was interesting and mildly enjoyable. We casually walked around the place and enjoyed peace and relaxed atmosphere. If you're looking to find a place where you can walk, relax, grab a snack in a 'few' places as (most of the food court vendors are gone) and slow things down a bit, it's a good place. There are a few stores where so you can still do a little shopping if you choose to.

85% of the mall has closed up. Very outdated. "Food court" had one restaurant, but no employees could be seen.

Mall is closing this year. Only 7 stores open. Macy's opens at 10 the rest at noon or whenever they feel like it. We drove an hour to get there on a Tuesday to find this out. They have not updated their website. Stores and hours are not accurate at all.

This is my childhood mall, so sad to see the condition it is in now. Lakeside is still alive for the time being, but it is no where near where it used to be sadly. Very bittersweet. Still, good place to kill time. There's a lot of seemingly smaller businesses, and quite a few chains as well. If you want to exercise this is also the place to go, as it is large and stores are scattered across the mall. It's also very lovely if you enjoy abandoned places as the empty stores will give that abandoned vibe. The jeepers was my favorite to peer into. Hot topic was pretty good, auntie Anne's also still solid. For me, I went window shopping with my mom, very nostalgic.

Very nice mall...Sad their wanting to tear it all down. They need more stores and fun things to go to. Bring affordable things in for families. I would definitely shop there. Winter is way to cold to shop at outdoor malls.

  • 5/5 Alana B. 7 months ago on Google
I like that due to the run-down state of the mall there aren't many people there. Very friendly for those who just want to go out for a calm Mall day with a few close friends. The mall will be closing soon sometime. Not much stuff for kids but it is great for teenagers and younger adults. Quite a few escalators are out of order as well as the elevator. But there are stairs to get around. The cinnabon in auntie Anne's still open, 10/10 recommended if you go there.

Lakeside Mall used to be one of my favorite malls to shop at besides Fairlane. Now most stores are closed or closing. There is really no reason to shop there anymore. Lakeside Mall looks like a ghost town.

  • 2/5 Christina R. 1 year ago on Google
Back in the day this used to be THE mall to be at and had all the great stores. Now it looks like a ghost town. There are only a few no name places to eat in the "food court". There are huge sections of the mall where there are no stores; either closed down or vacant. JcPenny and Macy's are the only reason to visit this mall BUT Macy's is located on 2 different sides of the mall. Nobody wants to walk from the north end of the mall, to the south side of the mall just to shop at Macy's. There is a "pop up shop" section on the lower floor and a $7.98 and under store which makes the mall feel more like a flea market than a mall. Santa isn't in the middle like most malls, he's set up inside an old store (weird). The only reason for going to this mall was because my daughter went to return something to Hollister that she ordered online. I was actually shocked 😲 because this is not how I remember this mall. Do yourself a favor and just go to Somerset mall.

I haven't been here in awhile & this confirms why - only 2 or 3 stores left there to even bother with. Empty and almost sketchy. Such a shame as it was a great mall with so many choices just a few short years ago. I really hope that someone will revamp Lakeside and/or Partridge Creek. It would be nice to have a choice closer than Somerset Mall. I still know MANY PEOPLE that like to actually GO, SHOP & TRY ON at a store.

Not many stores left anymore, but a great place for seniors to walk in cold weather. There are a few lockers so you can stash your coats. We don't walk with a group, just when we have time on the weekend. Play areas are open for smaller children. It's not crowded, good for walking.

From Carol: GY's Grill and Chill is worth a visit to this great mall. The sandwiches there are some of the best I've ever had. The owner and his son instantly made me feel like family. I love this place.

It's unfortunate that malls are becoming obsolete. Especially during the holidays it used to be a great place to get in the festive mood and Shop. The food court alone was absolutely depressing with only one option. It was however really nice to see that a lot of the employees and many of the stores are still friendly and helpful!

  • 3/5 Eric H. 2 years ago on Google
My family used to love this mall. Unfortunately it was limping before the Covid issues. There is a lot of empty spaces - including 2 of its anchor stores and almost all of its food court. What is there is at least still nice

Poor mall it's pretty empty. Just a few Staples stores that seem to be holding it down. I really like anime GT, Hot topic and FYE. Haven't really been on the other end of the mall I don't feel like there's anything down there. Food court is pretty much basic not sure if any other stores have reopened inside of it it was half empty last time I went down there.

  • 1/5 Fatina H. 1 year ago on Google
The food was so horrible. I brought a chicken, Shawarma and Cajun fries and I feel like I got cheated. The chicken meat did not taste anything like Shawarma and the fries were not cooked well with sprinkled Cajun seasoning on the top the mall has only two restaurants, Soulfood, and that other restaurant I would not try the other restaurant.

A beautiful mall with a giant carousel horse ride inside like from a fair! Massive! Not too busy and of course, plenty of parking. A couple of floors. About 2 to 4 restaurants inside and like all malls, not really popping anymore. There is a Spencer's where I went to get some.Nag Champa incense sticks, a Claire's where U grabbed some earrings and a few other fun stores for everyone.

  • 3/5 Amber R. 1 year ago on Google
There are VERY few stores left. There are a few locally owned shops in there, but nothing to keep anyone going back. It's sad, this used to be THE mall. I hope they can revive it and get some AC in the summer. If I want to be hot, I'll hop over to partridge creek and just be outside where at least there is wind.

  • 5/5 unkillablebella 1 year ago on Google
I love going here i almost always come out with something because all the stores have so much good stuff i see or want and get my favorite to go in is hot topic and spencers i love them the people are so nice and helpful. What ever store you go in They are and if your hungry while walking around they got you with the food court or if you just want a coffee or a pretzel they have places for that to they are trying to bring people back to the mall they just started having car shows outside the food court which are really fun to go to

  • 2/5 Kristoffer G. 1 year ago on Google
Lakeside Mall is a mere shadow of what it used to be. Even the once grand food court only has a few places left. Coney Island pulled out? Good grief. Things must be bad. The mall is mostly filled with shoe stores, a few odds and ends, and lots and lots of empty places. Just sad.

The best thing that I liked about the particular visit... Is that it has a sit down area.. Which is well needed. The area is so decent to me. That would be one of my go to spots for a business type of meeting. Or even a cheap innocent type of date.
