Unbelievablely delicious pastries. Served warm first thing in the morning or heat them yourself later. You will not regret picking up a few of these treats. So many good flavors. It's always a great morning when it starts with Cannelle pastries.

I work around the corner and had not been to Cannelle so stopped in today for a quick bite at lunch. Had the Deluxe Breakfast Sandwich... Wow... incredible taste and very fresh.... I can't wait to come back and try a pastry or one of the desserts. I'll let the photos speak for themselves. I highly recommend making a stop here. Great atmosphere, especially on a beautiful day in the D. (Dine outside). I can't wait to stop in again.

The staff was super nice.. that’s the only thing I found good about the place. We tried their pastries and they were not good. They looked good but the taste wasn’t at all. They had a weird taste and the chocolate tasted strange. Also too many flavors in each piece, it confuses your Tastebuds. I would not come back unfortunately.

My goodness! What a gem we have in the city of Detroit with this place. The environment is very fun and I love the French music and delicious foods. You want to check it out. The staff was kind and explained the menu. I didn't get coffee but I can tell if I do I'll not be disappointed. Stop in and check them out.

I love this place, both locations are great. I’d say one of the best bakeries I’ve ever been too. The vanilla eclair was perfect with a coffee and the peanut butter pastry we got was also very very tasty.

One star off because when I asked for recommendations, the staff was snappy, rude, and didn't even answer my question. They made me feel dumb for asking, but I honestly just wanted to ask because there are no descriptions for the several pastries available. Would recommend owners have a menu or description of the desserts if they do not wish to make recommendations or explain what is available. Outside of that, pastries were delicious and authentic, price point is around $7+ per pastry but makes sense for the high quality they deliver. Ambience is cute and clean. Parking can be difficult nearby.

Very cute place and amazing patisserie!! I could not get over it. Wide assortment of sweet and savory croissants, breads, and beautiful pastries. A little gem and very cozy during the Christmas season. Nice location downtown as well, just a block or so out of the chaotic fray.

DELICIOUS!!! If you're looking for a reason to visit Detroit, coffee or a piece of cake at this place definitely can be one. Almond croissants made my day! 🥐

This coffee house was on my list to try out being in Detroit and they didn’t disappoint me. The pistachio latte is one to try and it won’t let you down. While there, also try some of their Macarons. Totally a treat.

These delicacies were definitely tasty and bountiful!! I ordered a colossal raspberry macaron! Yum Yum Yum!!!! The mousse on the interior had raspberry filling with raspberry bits, coated in white chocolate, and garnished with a white chocolate shard with raspberry crumbles!!! I also ordered a strawberry shortcake! It was so lightweight and flavorful. The third item I ordered (forgive me for not remembering the name of it) put me in the mindset of a moon pie, except with a truffle filling instead of marshmallow. Underneath the cookie, but on top of the truffle was either roasted almonds or pistachios. The truffle was extremely rich, and would pair perfectly with a nice tall glass of cold milk and/or water!

Wow! Did not expect this in the heart of downtown Detroit. They had so many pastries we didn't know what to try first. We ended up going savory since we had just visited Sister Pie but needed a place for a fancy latte. Who knew their specialty would be croissants of all kinds? We tried four different kinds, and they were all delicious. One tip - if you want a chai latte, make sure you say that clearly. Or you'll get a chai tea instead :/

Finally made it to the downtown location. Neat little spot perfectly situated on a corner. Quality is superb, love their little twists on classics and their inventions are tasty. Had a chocolate macaron the big one and a bacon gruyere croissant. 10/10 for vibes, flavors, and service.

Love this space. Great environment. The guy working the coffee is top notch. Great service. Super kind. Prices are market average for a cafe/bakery. I enjoyed a walnut crossiant and apricot crossiant. Coffee was made correctly with good espresso. I've been back since and had coffee not made correctly during the day. Brought review from 5 star to 4 star.

MK Cannelle was wonderful! My business partner and I visited on a chilly but beautifully sunny morning before work while we visited Detroit, and are grateful we wandered inside on a whim! The pastries were first eaten by my eyes and WOW! The inside of the cafe is chic and clean, and the displays are gorgeous! Filled with golden, delicate doughs-- we ordered several items. I got a savory croissant that was packed with filling while my colleague ordered a raspberry tart and some cannelle for us to share. We thoroughly enjoyed them all! Everything was light and not too sweet, and my pastry was wonderfully flaky but not greasy!

Nice atmosphere and decor, nice French music playing. Outlets for sitting. Many many options for tarts, eclaires, cake slices, and other desserts. Savory breakfast and lunch too. I'd come for a snack and a light meal, not if I'm really hungry. Pastries a bit on the sweet side. Croissants are the heavier kind, not the light buttery crispy I prefer. Overall very good.

Cannelle sets a perfect example of how a bakery should be in terms of service, quality, and reputation. Loved their croissants. I tried almond, pistachio chocolate, and almond chocolate. Every flavor was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere and service is also commendable with a very nice sitting area.

I had the olive and goat cheese croissant and the fig tart, and when I tell you I agonized over this choice and wished I had several stomachs to eat everything, I mean it. There were no bad choices, it was just a preference of what you wanted to taste. Interior is a little small with probably about 10 tables total, with a two small counters for bar seating, but if the weather is nice they have a nice outdoor dining space.

The baked goods here are really good. First tried their stuff at Eastern Market. The cafe downtown is a nice place to sit and people watch. Large selection of goodies makes it difficult to choose. Friendly service and lively atmosphere makes this a great destination. We literally cross rivers/bridges/borders to get here 🇨🇦

Magnificent if extra rich croissants (stuffed ones are very heavy with butter and fillings), sandwiches, and cakes. Mini baguette sandwiches were also top notch.

clean and cozy. Pastries look and taste amazing. I had an espresso, chocolate coconut bite, chocolate croissant, and a Frasier… all so delicious. Also, sign says no public bathroom but they do allow patrons to use.

Stopped in late in the day. I got a raspberry macron that was fabric! Also bought a chocolate croissant and a cherry croissant. It was all so amazing! Friendly, helpful service. Very clean. Highly recommend!

Grabbed some sweets to eat outside - the pastry selection made for a very difficult decision. Not only whether to choose savory or sweet, but then which one! I had a bite of the peach pastry which was excellent - and then scarfed down the pistachio raspberry macaroon which came highly recommended, and with good reason. One star off my food rating because the chai latte I ordered had a funny taste to it - maybe a hint of coffee, I couldn’t put my finger on it.

Love Love Love this place for a Dessert !!!! I have tried both Downtown and Birmingham locations. They have a variety of french desserts, croissants and freshly baked bread. Occasional cakes are available for order. I have tried most of their desserts and was never disappointed. Highly recommended for a quick coffee and croissant to kick start your morning or a leisure coffee date in the evening. This cafe is a perfect spot on the corner to savor a french pastry and enjoy the downtown views. Their Hot chocolate is to die for!!!!

Canelle is an absolutely gorgeous cafe with beautiful baked goods and delicious coffee. I stopped in for a specialty coffee after grabbing a breakfast sandwich at Iggy's Eggies across the street; I'm certain my jaw dropped when I walked in. They have large showcases with flawless and absolutely mouth watering baked goods of every type imaginable. I stood admiring the showcases for an (awkwardly) long time, contemplating if I needed a second breakfast. Alas, I went with my original plan to get a specialty coffee, and opted for a decaf americano misto with oat milk. It was superb! I lingered awhile longer thinking that yes, maybe I should purchase a baked good for the road, but settled on taking some pictures so I could always remember my visit. I highly recommend visiting Canelle, and coming on an empty stomach. The prices are a bit steeper than other cafes in the area, but are reflective of the quality. There is ample seating inside & outside, or at the park just around the corner. It's a very walkable location in Downtown Detroit, close to all major hotels. There are also lots of cute shops nearby!

This is a nice, relaxing, vibrant place. The fig tart was very good. Didn’t like the ginger mango peach croissant however — it was more like bread, not flaky at all.

This is the best bakery I have ever been to. I was worried it would be disappointing or overrated but honestly everything was amazing. The place was packed on a Saturday morning but we were helped quickly, and the girl was nice and patient anyway. It's brightly lit and with so many beautiful options inside I kind of wondered if it would all look good but not taste that great (I'm cynical at times what can I say) but the coffee was so smooth and the lemon tart was fantastic with a light and almost fluffy filling and the shell was buttery and perfect and the almond croissant was amazing the best I have had yet in my life and I am obsessed with them and get them everywhere I see them.

Wish I could give it one million stars, everything was 10/10 I had coffee, a basil, feta, tomato croissant, (best thing I’ve ever eaten) and a chocolate chip cookie, and all absolutely amazing please try this place. It’s clean, decorated cute, love it! Unforgettable experience

A wonderful place for dessert! Everything looked incredible and tasted equally amazing. The prices are high but not crazy, but the quality makes it worth it. Very friendly staff as well. Really helpful and patient with all of our questions.

Gorgeous pastries and good coffee. I have missed having a really nice croissant so this place was a great find! I bought about $40 of stuff and everything was amazing

During my business trip, I visited this café for a breakfast one morning. The inside was nice and bright with lots of large windows on a corner lot. Many table seating, especially for a bakery café. They had so many delectable looking desserts, looking bright and beautiful, all neatly lined up in a long glass showcase! You have no idea how difficult it was for me to just choose one… I ordered a pistachio Paris Brest and a Hazelnut Coffee. Everything was brought to the table of my choice by a staff. Pistachio Paris Brest had strawberry compote on the bottom, which was a surprise. It was creamy and quite rich, but didn’t feel heavy. Then, I found a huge strawberry in the middle of the tower of cream! Wow! How creative, I really liked the fact that it was not just cream in the middle. It would’ve been way too much cream if there was not for the huge, fresh, juicy strawberry in the middle. I did have some real food too. I had Jambon Gruyere on a croissant. It was a nice big size, buttery and flakey, just the way I like it. I really enjoyed the sandwich. It was very filling, I was completely full! The staffs here were friendly, professional and polite. Welcoming and relaxing. I wish if I was able to visit them again, but I just didn’t have time. Next time I am in Detroit, I would like to visit them again.

I’ve been waiting to enjoy Cannelle’s since it’s opening. Hence! I was highly disappointed that the cashier seemed irritated by my daughters inquiry regarding menu items. We’d planned on sampling more items including the sandwiches. But the attitude of the cashier was simply inexcusable. I was turned off her behavior, and further disappointed to see that my latte not only wasn’t hot, but also wasn’t aesthetically pleasing, as it had no art as I’m used to. Such as a heart design or anything for that matter. But, because the young man who brought the order to the table was so kind, I tipped him generously in appreciation for his kind service, in comparison to what I had just dealt with in regard to the cashier. I really want people to stay home when their having a bad day. Period!!! Or take a time out. Customers have waited for months to enjoy a pleasant outing during this stressful time of Covid, and deserve to be treated with kindness. I wish the service matched the Decor! ☹️For these reasons, I’ve settled on a 3 Star rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️.

I came in for the first time today and was not disappointed! The girl that helped us at the counter was so nice and patient, explaining all the desserts and had to repeat some a few times because I was a little overwhelmed. We ordered the pistachio macaron with raspberry and white chocolate, the strawberry shortcake, and the mini mango macaron. Everything was delicious. We will definitely be back regularly for more. My sister also got a jasmine tea which she loved, but my cortado was terrible. The shot was significantly over-extracted, leaving it burnt and bitter. I asked for another one, and they quickly remade it, it was better but still not enjoyable, so I don’t recommend the espresso drinks. The shop is gorgeous and the perfect place to relax, do homework, or have a business meeting.
