Cornbread Restaurant & Bar, formerly known as Beans and Cornbread was another hit among family and friends😋. I stopped in this weekend for a nice birthday dinner and everything we ordered tasted AMAZING. We order Fried Perch, Pork Chops, Fried Chicken, Catfish, Gumbo, Fried Green Tomatoes & a few additional sides. Sides we ordered included potato salad, green beans, collard greens, man n cheese, and of course cornbread! I would of given them 5 stars but I did have a few areas of growth for the business to help provide an even better experience. First, my initial impression speaking with a young lady name Destiny was NOT pleasant. I called to inquire about the average wait time on a Sunday for seating for 12, because they don’t take reservations. She was very rude, and repeatedly told me, “ if you want, come & put your name on the list! “ (she wasn’t being helpful though, it was in a very sarcastic and annoyed tone) I stated it was a few hours before I planned on having dinner but was just inquiring so I knew how long before to arrive. I honestly wanted to just pick another place after this interaction but I decided to still give them a try. Once we arrived the host Art, change my whole experience. He was very helpful and accommodating and did his best to accommodate our seating needs. Our waitress was also amazing! All of our food was accurate and fresh, they did however run out of a few items, which we had to substitute but that happens from time to time so in this case it wasn’t a big deal. Cornbread Restaurant & Bar, could do some coaching on customer interaction and etiquette with some of its staff, to help provide an amazing experience consistently every-time. Also reservations would be nice as well. Great restaurant❗️ 👍🏽👍🏽

So first of all the ambiance in this restaurant is immaculate! They bring you a basket of cornbread which I think deserves a 5 star all by itself. However, I ordered catfish nuggets/ gumbo because I had been wanting some forever now & a side of Mac & cheese/// & sweet potatoes.!!! When I say this food was probably some of the best soul food ever I absolutely mean that! I would definitely visit this food establishment again & again. My server was Mariah!! She held eye contact while taking my order & was very attentive to my table. Wonderful Job guys

👌🏾 Excellence! That's the best way to describe my experience. The customer service was friendly and attentive, the food portions were perfect and the food was fulfilling and seasoned to perfection. The culture and atmosphere was relaxing and clean and to top it off, the management and our server Chrissy were delightful to deal with and life giving. Chrissy was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave suggestions to some of the customizations we were asking about. I from the south and experiencing a piece of the south during my visit here in Detroit was the best way to end my trip. Kudos to the staff and management! We will be back!

The place is too small for the crowds. Not enough employees to handle the volume. A possibility of your online order being cancelled if the restaurant is too busy. And it may take a while before you get your online payment ($$$) refund. It’s better to order and wait and pay in person. The food is pricey but good.

The staffs are very attentive. I am surprised they have a full staff working in 2022. Food is good, sweetness of the yam is on point. Green bean is still green, many times people just overcook and green beans look gray. Catfish seasoning is not too salty and skin is very crunchy with hot fish in the inside. It is kinda expensive for Southern food even though there is massive inflation right now. Sweet potato and green beans don't cost that much

Went for the 1st time today and man...this place exceeded my expectations. Place is pretty small, but we came at a perfect time and got seats. Cornbread was made fresh and homemade. Our waitress Q was great, attentive, and fast! I ordered a cup of gumbo, and it was made right. Top 5 gumbo I had. Had all the right flavors. I ordered the smothered gravy oxtails, and they were fantastic. That with the rice were cooked perfectly and were flavortown to me. I also ordered fried Okra, mac & cheese, and sweet potatoes. They all were cooked perfect and made really well. The Mac and cheese was seasoned really good and wasn't too cheesy or dry. My wife got Fried Catfish, hush puppies, greens, and Mac & cheese. The hush puppies were the best ones I've had to date. Greens were good and not too liquidy. I ordered a carrot cake to go and my goodness it was bomb. This place is underrated and the food was amazing. Only 2 complaints I have is the place is small and tight and the price on dessert is a bit high. Everything was well worth it. I will Def be coming back. Best soul food spot in metro Detroit. ***Update we went back today and it was still just as great. Love this place ***

As soon as we walked in, we were greeted, seated and embraced with EXCEPTIONAL service. Chrissy LOVE served us, answered all questions and went above and beyond the call of duty. She even made us a RASPBERRY DELIGHT! This drink definitely needs to be on the menu. My cousin wanted a sweet tea but was blown out the water with what she crafted . The next time Chrissy LOVE serves you, she is fabulous and also let her serve you up a RASPBERRY “CHRISSY” DELIGHT! Here, with the service, food, vibe, You won’t be disappointed….🫶🏽

Disappointed with my order. Catfish and sweet potatoes were good however the Mac and cheese was on the cold side and had dry noodles tasted like craft no flavor. Greens were a miss , not tender and had a burnt taste, the meat on the ribs were dry.

So I carried out my food so didn’t experience the atmosphere at all but the food is definitely a one out of five. The chicken wings are over cooked. The mac & cheese was cold and no seasoning really no cheese the sweet potatoes were sweet but it kind of had a weird taste to them the only thing that was decent out of all the food ordered was the string beings that were hot and had some flavor to them. Because you had to order online and seems like everything was priced a little bit above the menu price you couldn’t call ahead. Truly disappointed in the meal I spent 32.00 on

This place was hyped up so I took my mom for her birthday and was highly disappointed! I ordered the kitchen sink which was literally like something out of the dish drain, I expected more. The lobster tail was the worse I ever had, it was so tough. The gumbo was mixed in with the greens and about time I got to eat my shrimp and fish it was saturated in juices from everything else. The Mac & cheese and was stiff and dry and the yams was so sweet and syrupy!!! I hate I drove an hour a way for this! The best thing was the Pepsi. At the end the waiter called the own over there and he just stood there like a lump on a log 🥴 my mom chicken didn’t have no taste to it and her yams was like pure liquid and the greens definitely taste as if they came out a can! Needless to say I wouldn’t recommend this place. I just donated my money at this point! Next time I’ll go to Bakers Lounge or Floods!

Great food with friendly service had to take a star away from them. Because I paid my bill & left a good tip just to realize that they added $27 to my bill for an Service Charge once I got in the car.🤦🏾‍♂️🤯🤷🏾‍♂️

Service was amazing, wait time was way too long (1 hour). The food was not good. Fried chicken no taste, just grease, Mac and cheese just ok. The catfish was the best part of the day. The drinks were blah!

Tried this place while in town for a college sports tournament and was not disappointed! Great place with several amazing menu items and a full bar. We had great service throughout our meal, and enjoyed everything we tried. The peach cobbler at the end is worth saving room for. If you are in the area, I highly recommend you check this place out!

First of all, I didn’t know that they had moved from up the street. Latanya (the guest relations employee ) was helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. The handsome gentleman on the door was kind and friendly. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and the food was still giving Beans ‘n Cornbread vibes in a new location. Check them out for yourself

You might have a wait on the weekends, but it will be worth it! Friendly service and great food in a cool spot. If you're going for brunch, you should make reservations. Be sure to order the sweet potato muffins.

I came a few years ago to the old location and made a point to visit again. I drove 18 hours from Tampa, FL and made a point to visit this place while in Detroit. The fried chicken was AMAZING and seasoned perfectly. The mac and cheese, collard greens, and sweet potatoes were equally delicious. Latonya was our server and made it a pleasure to be there. She was knowledgeable, courteous, and attentive to all our needs. Overall this was a great experience and I will be going back before heading home to Florida.

Place order online at 4pm for a 5pm ( Mistake 1)pickup arrived at restaurant at 4:50pm was greeted and ask was I dinning in or placing an order, I stated here for an online pickup she ask me twice my wife full name for order finally figuring it out stated they are still working on it. 5:20 after watching ppl come in after me and place an order and receive there order I ask a gentlemen I’ve been waiting on an order that was suppose to be ready at 5pm he stated they still working on it not and apologize or nothing for the wait. 5:30 the first young lady came back to me and ask did the gentlemen take care of me I said no he said same thing you did they working on it (mistake 2) I stated I just wanted to cancel my order 5:37 my order came out all ready frustrated glance over to check to at least make sure my wife order was correct.(Mistake 3 which is mine) When I got home realize my smoother turkey chop was fried pork chops. 😡 no way to call back because you can’t call so to drive back up the restaurant was not going to happen so here I am making this review. I have worked in hospitality industry so I understand how hard it is to get help and meet expectation but to know you have someone waiting over and half hour for and order that was suppose to be ready and no one addressed it is a problem, first and last time at the new place.

The first time going to the Cornbread restaurant was a pleasant experience! The catfish finger breading was amazing and hot, and it fell apart (so good). I tried the chicken and waffles, and the chicken was good. I loved the waffle mix. What I love about this particular restaurant is that all black people were in unison, and it was a great atmosphere to see. WILL BE BACK!!

The food was tasty. They give you a nice serving for the price. The prices are on the high side, though. The restaurant was clean. We were seated by the owner. Service was quick.

We had a Lunch Date... The remodeling of the restaurant is very nice. Much better than it was. The food was delicious AND plentiful. We shared the sides.

I have NEVER in my 45 years of life had SOUL FOOD this DELICIOUS from a restaurant!🙌🏾💃🏾 …and Monell’s in Nashville, Tennessee is my favorite!🫣 BAAAAAAAABEEEEEE! The food and presentation was everything! Briana our server was THE BOMB. Detroit and Cornbread Restaurant & Bar owes me nothing…NOT A THANG! Did I tell y’all I asked for the chef to come out?! He was very humble and kind. As they say in the D, “what up doe?!”

It was my 1st visit here and the atmosphere was really nice. The service started off a bit slow. We had to ask several ppl for eating utensils and corn bread, which I WASN'T IMPRESSED with. It was just basic cornbread. I make better corn bread at home!! The chicken was horrible and I ❤ chicken but this was disgusting. I will say that I enjoyed the potato salad, greens, yams, Mac and cheese, fish and ribs...
