Authentic Mexican in a no frills spot. No alcohol and cash only. Amazing complimentary salsas (with chips) to start as well.

I’m shocked by some of the bad reviews on here. These folks must think Taco Bell is authentic Mexican food or something. I have traveled all over Mexico and heavily Mexican influenced states like California. This was a top notch experience for me. I always judge a Mexican restaurant by their ability to make simple traditional tacos. They aced my test and it was such a treat!

Have you ever had food that took your straight to your grandmother's kitchen and flooded your mind with memories? To the point you almost can't eat because of the knot in your throat. I sat there and had some of the best beans of my life with tears in my eyes! Lol I didn't know food could make me that emotional. This place is on point and forever ruined any chance of me eating any where else in Detroit. I will return here when ever I'm in Detroit from here on out.

Not great. Just mediocre food all around. And we had a bunch... Guacamole and chips, a large burrito, a small burrito, a taco and a quesadilla. The guacamole was embarrassing. We had to add salt and lime to elevate it from garbage to mildly acceptable. Everything else was just sub par, below average. Light on flavor and quality. I would never, ever recommend anyone eat here. We didn't complain once, not sure it would have made a difference. Gave it a bonus star because the service was exceptional and the atmosphere was nice.

I’ve been to most restaurants in Mexican town but this was my first time here. The service was fast and friendly. The enchiladas and quesadillas were delicious but the beans and rice were just okay. Large portions for lunch with great prices. It is cash only but they have an atm inside.

Seriously so delicious! You could tell the rice and beans were homemade and authentic! Carnitas were great. Can't wait to go back and try more! Also our waitress was so nice and understanding.

Delicious food, a large menu, cozy atmosphere, and attentive service made this such a pleasant and memorable experience. There are several breakfast options on the menu making Lupitas perfect for a Sunday morning visit. Just remember to bring cash!

The best authentic tacos I have had yet. Their 3 different salsas are so freaking good. I had to top my tacos with salsa verde.

Great authentic Mexican food! They only accept cash as payment. Beans and rice are good. Botano appetizer came with a lot of chorizo and fresh veggie toppings.

I am mexican, I arrived to Michigan in January 2021 and I can tell the best tripa and tongue tacos are here, they are the closest to real mexican street food. Pay in cash only! I love it, the only thing to improve would be the salsa, make it a little bit more spicy! :D

Ordered for a Fish Tacos Dinner. Was fairly decent though it was quite bland The service was fine. The complimentary nachos had really delicious dips They only accept cash however they have a small ATM in their restaurant which one could use

My absolute favourite Mexican restaurant. Food and service is always on point. Everything comes out piping hot and full of flavour. They are cash only (and have an ATM on site). Can't wait to go back and try other items on their menu.

This place was amazing the food was delicious and I highly recommend it. The service was quick and on point. It is cash only and I recommend being willing to speak Spanish and order in Spanish lol. But I had a great experience and the food was amazing

So my girlfriend was asking for tacos today and we decided to go to this restaurant and Mexican town. Barbacoa and carnitas street tacos was awesome very full and amazing. The big bowl of menudo that I haven't had in a very long time was spot on I can't wait to eat some more

Chips came right as we sat. Tons of flavor packed in each taco. Solid guac, pico, and sauces are gonna make us regulars here.

Food is absolutely disgusting! I ordered a Chimichanga and the cheese was half melted as the ground beef was trash. They don’t serve alcohol but you can bring your own (I mean that’s the best part). Only thing that was edible was the beans and rice. Don’t come here!!!!!

Pretty solid. Loved the ceviche tostada! Didn't love the burrito as much as it needed a sauce(felt dry) but the flavor was good. Overall, a great place to check out

I've been going here since I was 8 years old. What's crazy is that the quality of the food has stayed the same ever since. The atmosphere is incredible, they have Spanish music playing and the decoration are lovely as well. The staff is incredibly friendly and will talk either Spanish or English. I would rate the restaurant a 10/10, I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys tacos.

Fresh and tasty food and newly remodeled as well. No cocktails served at this restaurant but it's an excellent place to get a good meal. Usually no wait or little waiting for a table.

I like this spot. This is a small restaurant with wobbly tables, which is typical of a good neighborhood restaurant. The seating is a little tight, but cozy. The service is a little slow, but very attentive. The food is very good. Good portions. Prices are fair. I had three tasty Carne Asada. I will return for sure.
