Came here with my youngest two grandsons. Their first time, my third. We actually came from a nearby restaurant that didn't have anyone (and I mean no one) stop by our table for 15+ min. So we left. We set out to find another place that had a kids menu with chicken fingers and cheeseburgers. This was the place to go. I timed to see how fast we would be served. It literally took less than 2 minutes for a friendly & smiley server to take our drinks order. Great food, excellent service!

Have been going to Cloverleaf longer than most people are alive! The best, original Detroit style pizza. Great staff and still family owned... They'll take good care of you!!

Of the 6 spots I tried while in Detroit. This was my favorite. Great atmosphere and service. The bloody Mary was tasty and the pizza was on point. We had a cheese and pepperoni that was crispy and the stretch of the cheese was incredible. We tried the specialty TV 2 pizza as well that features pepperoni, jalapeno and honey. It was phenomenal.

The best pizza I've ever had! Taste, texture, fresh herbs etc. Drove 40 minutes to get there as it was recommended by friends. Highly recommend! Plus they have pull-tabs & won $150! A win win!

Dated restaurant but the pizza was my first taste of Detroit style. Best part was the crispy crust bottom and edges but standard toppings and dough. Note that unless you order a pie with tomato sauce, it won’t come with it (shouldn’t have assumed). It does take about 20 minutes for the pizza to bake, and four pieces was enough for two of us for lunch with an app and side salad. The “small” side salad is actually quite large (good for one person). Plenty of parking, lots of tables and also bar seating. Service was friendly and very accommodating.

Quick seating for a Friday night! Our waitress was fantastic, especially considering how busy everything was! Pizza arrived quicky and was delicious! Antipasto salad and spinach & artichoke dip were great too! Family friendly!

My personal favorite restaurant in the entire area hands down. The best price on a tall boy of some light beer and the absolute best price for a pizza. The pizza here is unrivaled compared to any other Detroit Style Deep Dish in the entire area. The vibe here is always laid back and relaxing too. The owner is incredibly kind and converses with all of the customers. It would be a lie to state that the proximity to Cloverleaf was not a contributing factor to where I chose to move a few years back.

This was my first visit and I will be back. Jessica was my server she was super sweet and attentive. These were the best fried mushrooms I ever had and my drink was delicious as well.

I had bbq wings and pizza with old style pepperoni and bacon. The wings could have been fried for about another 2 minutes. The price of the wings for the small portion is too much, in my opinion. I loved the pizza and will definitely visit again for the pizza again. Decent parking in a decent area. The restroom was clean. It seemed kind of dark and quiet in there, though, for the daytime hour. Our server was pretty cool, and he made me an awesome Purple Reign. 👌

The pick up locations are great. This one sucked. I'm 80% sure they didn't give us the basil we asked for. She said they put it underneath the cheese, but I didn't see or taste any. The pick up locations put it on top. They also have flavored crusts where this location doesn't. The service was slow. 40 minutes for our pizza, not including the time we had to wait for the server to come back. We also had gotten dirty plates initially.

Today was a waste of $27 for not that great pizza. Made an over the phone order for pickup. Asked for small square Supreme Pizza with Italian sausage and small salad. When ordering pizza I repeated the order twice and the lady on the end acknowledged. Picked up the pizza thinking it was fine and left the store. Got home and to my surprise the pizza doe and cheese half cooked. Plus, no Italian sausage . Maybe my fault but I will never go back there. Never again will I ever be disappointed with a pizza order.

While visiting Detroit my friend and I decided to do a pizza tour of Cloverleaf Bar, Loui's Pizza and Buddy's Pizza. We ordered a small Detroit Original Square with Pepperoni at all three locations so that we could review evenly. The crust at Cloverleaf's was light and crunchy, while the sauce is sweet and the cheese has a nice blend. The restaurant has an old school vibe as it's the original location from 1946. It was close but this was my favorite of the three restaurants and my friends least favorite. The sauce at Cloverleaf's is what set it apart from the rest.

I have family members who feel it is the best Detroit style pizza in the area. It is very good, but to say the best, I would have to go to my favorite pizza restaurants in the area and try them consecutively to crown a winner. I have lived 64 yrs in Detroit and I know all the go to pizza places. I would definitely go back for their pizza. You won't be disappointed.

I had my husbands 50th surprise birthday party catered from Cloverleaf on Gratiot! They were Awesome! Food was wonderful and the service was Outstanding! Marie was so very helpful and she communicated everything along the way! I would highly recommend them! Everyone was very pleased with all the food and everything was fresh and cooked to perfection! Thank you all so much for making such a wonderful memory possible!

Service was great! Pizza and antipasto salad is not like it used to be. Salad dressing was not home made.

I was on a mission to find the best Detroit style pizza while visiting Detroit, MI. Thankfully, one of our colleagues who is a local suggested and treated my friends and me to Cloverleaf Bar and Pizza, it’s the originator of Detroit-style pizza since 1946. This establishment was founded by Gus Guerra, who also co-owned “Buddy’s”, another renowned pizza place. We were fortunate enough to meet Marie, one of the owners, who informed us that they still use the original recipe while Buddy’s made some alterations to theirs. Cloverleaf has remained a family-owned business for three generations and is one of the oldest pizzerias in the Detroit area. They brought us a delicious sweet and savory crunchy bread, served hot and topped with parmesan. If you never had Detroit-Style Pizza before it is known for its square or rectangular shape, thick and airy crust, and its unique layering of toppings with cheese at the bottom and sauce on top, Caramelized Cheese Edges, and flavorful crust, that has that nice crunch. We also enjoyed their award-winning meatballs, antipasto salad, and the delicious whipped cheesecake for dessert. We even got a glance at the oven that creates this magic! A big thank you to Marie and her staff for their excellent service, hospitality, and of course, the delicious food. I'll make sure to visit Cloverleaf Bar & Restaurant whenever I'm in town. You can find them at 24443 Gratiot Ave, Eastpointe, MI 48021.

On my journey of finding the best, most authentic Detroit style pizza, Cloverleaf definitely comes in near the top of the list. The restaurant is in a very unassuming location but very easy to access. When you first walk in feels like you’re walking into any other locally owned family restaurant, although it’s hard to miss the giant neon cloverleaf hanging from the ceiling, a gentle reminder that you’ve made to THE Cloverleaf Bar and Restaurant. Upon taking our seats at a booth it was apparent that this place is known as a local gem and family favorite. The wall furnishings told the rich history of the owners and their culture. It was hard not to notice the antique black and white photographs of children, decorative dinnerware, and Italian phrases decorating the walls. Moving onto the food, my friend and I ordered a large pizza and split the toppings half and half as I don’t eat pepporoni. I got jalepenos and black olives on my half. I was very satisfied by the amount of toppings. But, most people know the quality of Detroit style pizza lies in the crust. This pizza had a delicious crispy crust around the edges but unfortunately was lacking in structure towards the middle. I guess you could say the mushiness in the middle made the crust that much more enjoyable. Nonetheless, I had the feeling that I was enjoying an authentic Detroit style pizza. Overall, I was impressed by how well this place has preserved the uniqueness local family owned restaurant rooted in history. Would definitely think of this place when recommending an authentic Detroit style pizza experience.

Decided to try this place out because they are the original Detroit deep dish pizza, and I had to go where it all started. The place was old and run down. Certainly dated, and it had an odor about it . I was also confused as to what type of restaurant it was. They had all sorts of other specials printed on random pieces of paper that didn't seem to match the restaurant. After sitting down we were brought our drinks and a basket of bread that had a strange sweet, fried, with cheese bread. I didn't understand it. Pizza came out and it was just ok. Nothing great. Greasy, as expected, flat on flavor and not enough pepperoni. Jets pizz is much better tasting. I'm glad we went, but I won't go back. Food: 2 Atmosphere: 1 Service: 5

Been in Detroit 2 years now and this is by far the best detroit style I've had yet. Server was Jamie, and she was super busy but still made sure we had what we needed. This place rocks

The original place to get Detroit Style pizza. After all these decades, their za is still as amazing as it was the first time I went. Their pizza is better than any other chain in the state, especially Jets. Their 9-mile location, the original, has the best service and food. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed too, perfect for a family dinner or an evening with friends. I've got a couple relatives that don't/can't eat dairy, so it would be amazing if they could offer a cheese alternative for those with allergies/dietary restrictions. Otherwise, keep up the great work!

Been here a couple of times, and it's become a favorite stopover when I'm in Detroit. This is my gold standard Detroit deep dish, and one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Caesar salad was good, too. Received very warm, welcoming service. I highly recommend this place! They're back to their full menu now, too.

Very dark, dim and gloomy. The fireplace would've been beautiful if it was lit up, which would've helped tremendously for the family gathering we had... Service was a bit slow but ONLY because we had a large group and the pizza is made in the stone oven...keep that in mind if you eat here it could take a good 30+ mins for food! Our waitress was very nice, however. Food did taste good. The bar area looked nice, but we did not sit/eat/drink there.

Just as good as I remember! Small cheese, antipasto, and cauliflower. House made Cherey Cokes.... Yummm Our server, Cullen, was on point!

I'm not sure if this is the absolutely best Detroit style pizza in town (don't have anything to compare it to), but it was great! We tried three kinds, prices were reasonable and service was kind.

Still as good as always. Glad I stopped by to eat here. They close pretty early (8 p.m.) . All I can figure is the neighborhood has changed. Used to eat here late when I lived here 25 yrs ago. This place still makes excellent Detroit style pizza.
