My food was all warm/ room temperature. The sever was alright but she forgot a lot of was need for the party of 7. I didn't get a water and I'm not a fan of plastic silverware. The restrooms need to be cleaned and the menu's needed to be cleaned off.

Last week was meeting my daughters for dinner. The restaurant we wanted to dine at was closed. So we settled on Southern Fires…BIG MISTAKE! The menus they gave us were sticky, the waitress didn’t bother to replace them. When our order arrived, items were wrong and some items missing. No biggie, that was corrected. My youngest daughter and I ordered the beef short ribs, it’s 30 dollars a plate . It came smothered in a horrible tasting jar gravy. I asked for the manager (you can call me Karen if you like) I first complimented the staff on how they corrected our order and I then told Bree, the manager, that I had a critique. Me: while the staff corrected our order, I was disappointed in the nicely cooked tender piece of beef being covered in jar gravy . Bree: First of all, we don’t do can gravy. Me: I didn’t say can, it’s from a jar or powder or whatever kinda mix, it wasn’t homemade. I’m offering an suggestion that if you’re charging 30$ a plate, the gravy shouldn’t be pre made and it would only enhance the meal to have home made gravy. It’s neither expensive or time consuming to make. Bree: To each their own, people like our gravy. I sent Bree away because I likely would have completely lost it on her. I was told by another staff person the Owners name was Eddie, he wasn’t available for me to speak with. The service was horrible and for parties of more than 3 gratuity is automatically included. The wait staff were horrible and need training. Will never EVER go there again…EVER

Visiting from Cali. Best soul food I’ve ever had! Not sure why I see some 1 star reviews. This place is it! The food was cooked perfectly, the atmosphere is great, and great drinks! I will definitely be back when I visit Detroit again. Thanks for the great food!

Very stylish decor and modern setup. The food was below mediocre for taste and timeliness of arrival. The Mac and cheese was crudly and white with no flavor in which i sent back for corn. The catfish was crisp, hot and delicious. The steak bites were cooked just right with good flavor. Cornbread was dry and crumbly. The bar was making drinks just right and I was very satisfied. The wait staff was attentive and nice.

I’ve been to this place a few times. More not so good service than usual in the past few years but the food always taste good. Yesterday i went 3pm, as soon as they opened. They instantly had a wait simply bcuz the staff was moving w/ no urgency as if they didn’t just open. Some lights still weren’t on and their was no music playing when we were waiting/standing at the host area… it was only two of us to eat for my table. When we were sat, i looked around and noticed how filthy the place was with dust/dirt. Especially the ceiling fans. I told my partner to order us an app n waters while i went to wash my hands. The water took a long time to get hot & soon as someone flushed the toilet the water pressure dropped… i came back to the table to no waitress coming or being over. At this point 18mins passed. I kept looking at my watch & around the restaurant. Another server asked have our waitress been over and i told her no. She went to get her; she came back and said a few more minutes she’ll be over. I said at this point its been over 20mins. As we were about to walk out the lady came over & said what can i get you. She had no friendliness, no hospitality, and didn’t introduce herself… i was beyond hungry so i sat back down and said ok lol. What is your name? I believe she said candice or something. But her vibe was nonchalant. I ordered steakbites app, 2waters, catfish w/ 3 whole wings & 1side of salad. She said you can’t just have a salad as a side. You gotta pick a side & pay extra for the salad.. I said why if they are all sides? Can you go ask? & she came back so fast saying the same thing so I went w/ just the seasoned fries. My partner had catfish w/ mac & greens. The food came out pretty fast and in the order as it should (meaning the app 1st, then entrees). The guy who brung out our steak-bites was nice. He even grabbed us some app places like i asked. My partner asked him how was the steak cooked bcuz our server didn’t ask us how’d we like it & we forgot to mention it as well. It was more onions/peppers than steak but it tasted great w/ that sauce. Could’ve been hotter temperature tho but we enjoyed it. The entrees came shortly after but my waitress tried to take my plate back after asking me “you said seasoned fries right?”.. I said yes but leave em & my partner can eat them, just add on a salad for me cuz that’s what I originally wanted anyway. I didn’t understand why she’d take my plate back as if it’s still not a pandemic and that’s just plain nasty. The salad came out great. I asked for a knife, napkins and the bill. We finished eating & lost our server who never came back w/ the bill. Only the knife n napkins. After about 15mins we saw her at the bar n my partner went to her to inquire about the bill. They said their card machine is down! I questioned why wasn’t that told at the door before we were saw by the host… then my partner had to pay that atm fee which isn’t a big deal but it wasn’t apart of our plan to get cash. Also we waited an additional time to get change cuz the lady said she had to fine some. My issue started from the unnecessary wait at the door at open time && we were like the first 10 tables in line. That 20min wait of looking for a server is when I could’ve been eating appetizers. I should’ve have been there over a hour. It wasn’t the kitchens fault.

The food is delicious. The service is good. The decor is just dated and dark.

I have been coming to this restaurant for years. Since I have begun this Google maps journey I would need to add my experience at this place. This restaurant is large enough to accommodate a nice crowd. The food is yummy as they specialize in Soul Food. Greens are good, Mac&cheese is good, yams are okay. I love their fried catfish and fried shrimp. This place is still moderately priced dispite the rise everywhere else. The staff is very friendly. Pork Chops, beef ribs, you name it and they can prepare it.

We was referred by the rental car agent at the airport and I swear, she nailed it. The food, the service, and the ambiance was all exceptional. I definitely recommend Southern Fire if you're in the Detroit area.

Wow! Chill atmosphere, plenty of parking, nice decor. Really sweet and beautiful staff. The food OMG. We got the smoothered short ribs, mac n cheese, collard greens, candied yams, and coleslaw, cornbread. Every single bite of every item was AMAZINGLY delicious. Definitely coming back here again for date night. It was a little pricey BUT it was completely worth it.

I was a little scared to try this place because of the poor reviews but I am very glad that I did. When I first pulled up I thought the GPS brought me to the wrong place. The outside doesn't give restaurant at all. Once I stepped inside I was amazed. Very cozy with a great ambiance. Despite it being Father's Day we were seated right away. They gave us a huge comfy booth despite it just being two of us. Our waitress, Kyla (hope I'm spelling her name right) was very friendly and amazing. We had catfish nuggets as an appetizer. They were tiny but seasoned well and we're great. I had lamb chops cooked medium with collard greens and a piece of cornbread. It was all amazing. The collards were seasoned to perfection. The lamb was tender and had a tasty savory/sweet sauce. The cornbread taste more like cake but I loved it. He had lamb chops cooked the same way but had fries and coleslaw, which was also good. Even the Mountain Dew hit different. All in all I loved it. They even have security outside in the parking lot. I definitely want to go back.

Went into this establishment on a Sunday afternoon about 230pm with a party of 8 ppl. We were seated promptly upon entry no wait time as the restaurant was only 10 percent full. We were seated at separate tables with no explanation, but tables were close enough to speak with rest of party. With a raised voice. When we attempted to accommodate ourselves we were instructed not to move the tables. My party primarily ordered fish and chicken and shrimp all of which stated it was good. One ordered lamb chops which looked pretty good he did finish it completely so I assume it was good as well. My Mac was cheesy and creamy baked with a golden blanket. My fish was fried golden but it had no flavor to me. I believe everyone in my party would give this place another visit as they all said they enjoyed their meals. I would not revisit but hey you can’t please everyone. Expect to spend $20/adult. Overall decent experience and good food from my party’s perspective.

The place had great details from the inside and out, i took my girlfriend for a relaxed vibe and the music and atmosphere was perfect. Our servers name was nautica, great customer service and recommendations of the food. The Chandlers was a great addition to the classic, but semi elegant restaurant.

Used to love eating here a few years ago. While the food is still good the experience was not great. I may have to try during normal business hours because I went for a birthday party when they turn the restaurant into a bar at night. Waited in line in the cold, normal for a bar I guess. They charged $30 per person to get in. You can't just walk in to the bar the person who party it is has to come get you from the door. Ordered food when we got there then about 10min later ordered drinks. Our food came out in a decent time and hot. We waited over 30 minutes for our drinks and when the girl brought them over she didn't know what the drinks were or who they belonged to. First round of drinks were completely wrong. Waited again over 15 minutes and then got a drink. Our server kept disappearing for long periods of time. 20+ minutes at a time to the point we had to keep asking the server to the table next to us to keep getting her. Super crowded to the point the tables next to us were encroaching our personal space like they had our booth and there's. They do not do split bills at all!!!! So everyone had to send money or get cash to the birthday girl so she could pay all at once. Really inconvenient when you have over 10ppl on 1 bill!! Finally pay and leave and there's a young lady screaming at security b.c she parked in the lot and paid and her car got broken into. They didn't seem to care at all and they were pushing ppl out the way when they wanted to get by. Very rude security. Icing on the cake, we parked on the street and both me and my girls windows were also busted!! Music was OK, drinks were less than OK. Not worth going out to in my opinion. If I eat here again I'll be picking up my food and leaving, not eating there.

I went on a Sunday evening with a party of about 15. They seated the first 6 and saved a table for the others. We ordered and my sides were Mac n cheese and seasoned fries ( for my baby) which she never received until we were packing up and they were ice cold. I originally reserved for 25 so they should say something to me about the payment cause everyone doesn’t carry cash. My sister who was the birthday girl had a great time and I’m glad her food was hot when she received it. I didn’t let that I was pissed get in the way of her fun
