Food Pride Market

Supermarket

😠 This market doesn’t deserve any stars. The dairy products are expired, the fresh fruits and vegetables look sick, the expiration dates on packaged meats are wiped away so there is no way of knowing when the sausage or bacon are expired, also the meat department doesn’t smell too kosher and the meat... People often mention store,

This market doesn’t deserve any stars. The dairy products are expired, the fresh fruits and vegetables look sick, the expiration dates on packaged meats are wiped away so there is no way of knowing when the sausage or bacon are expired, also the meat department doesn’t smell too kosher and the meat is often discolored and spoiled. The products in the store are overpriced. I don’t think the health department has visited this market on a very long time and I think it’s time they paid Food Pride a visit and I’m doing everything in my power to make that happen.

I went to make a purchase that had a sign stating that the product was 7.99.. when I went to the register, the cashier said the price was wrong, so she went to the owner.. I was really disappointed that the owner would not honor his sign and said there was nothing he could do.. the owner, I mean really come on.. I'm not being petty, but most stores HONOR WHAT'S POSTED.. won't return..

It's good if you need the bare minimum but they have a really poor vegetarian selection and the veggies are fairly small comapaired to other markets but they have a surprisingly good liquor selection. It does have this funny smell but you get used to it fairly quickly. I would say if you're looking for ethnic foods, you're better off going elsewhere, it doesn't really cater to those looking for true ethnic, just taco kits, and slightly more expensive ramen.

EXPENSIVE!!! EVERYTHING AI would buy is DOUBLE the price compared to Walmart. I do ALL my grocery shopping at Walmart & especially online & delivery. I would NEVER/SHOP at Food Pride again.

Soooooooo this market is ok for some items. My husband and I go to buy frozen quick foods like 5lb bags of nuggets, tater tots, fries for $10. We also like the selection of frozen seafood. The meat guy was really friendly. Told us the chicken patties were the best even went to the back to find out how much a bag of chicken wings are. Yes the milk was expired. Some of the meat was discolored and certain things are way to expensive. But they are friendly and in the neighborhood so I just get the rest of my stuff from Kroger’s.

Ive never been to this area before. So I’m only reviewing store. Not rating. . But being here for the museum. I needed food. This was the closest place. Its an older food store with a lot of diversified stock but not competitively priced. From other reviews. It appears their business model is flawed. They dont understand that sales bring more customers. If you diversify too much. Prices are too high for too little product stock. If you don’t diversify, you charge more because you control product people buy. You want to charge as little as possible. That increases profits. But I can tell they think just charging more will make them more money... which is bad business . This place is Close to a college and various museums and hospitals. All walking distance. This place should be the nicest in the area. I was confused at how vintage the place is. Ive not been in a grocer like this in 20 years. What’s wrong? I go to check out after getting wine, water, and a bag of salad. Wine was 1-2$ more expensive than competitive but I’m ok with that... after I check out some guy walks up in front of me. Pretending to check out and asks the girl behind the check stand if she is ok. Insinuating I was causing her problems. So I can infer this store is run by a bad judgmental manager on a power trip. . My suspicions confirmed by other reviews. They need to re-evaluate how much stock. How much they can discount. And what they need to sell the most of. Then advertise their sales. Then reinvest in modernizing the store. Otherwise it will stage the entire employee base down and the community.

I don’t have a car but this is right down the street from me. Cashiers have always been nice, but I learned quickly to check expiration dates before I buy them. Bought multiple things that were expired with some being by a couple months. Produce is in, but most of it is about to go bad. I make weekly trips to stock up so I don’t waste anything. Brand names are over priced to no end, but you can usually find some cheap stuff if your willing to settle with another brand. Overall it’ll work if your close but, if you have transportation I would go somewhere else.

This store is thee worst store I've ever been too. The manager obviously is very lazy because he or she doesn't know how to keep the store open until it closes. This lazy person will close 20 to 30 minutes before closing. Then the bottle machine never works. Must not be able to afford to fix it or get a new one because nobody cares to shop there, because the prices are laughable. When food prices went up they jumped on that wagon. Don't even give deals. On top of that customer service sucks. They hired people that rode the short bus in that place. Customer service isn't hard. Maybe go to a grocery store and learn from them. I suggest kroger Mr or Mrs manager. I certainly hope the manager is getting what he or she is worth. Minimum wage. Nothing higher. Also the smell is unbearable and they have no idea what cleaning is. I drive 30 minutes out of my way to not go to this grocery store that is my neighborhood store. Allot of us around here take the drive because it's worth it to not grocery shop here. I suggest nobody shop here.

One of the few decent and affordable grocery stores in the Detroit area. Area itself outside may seem a bit dirty, but inside the store they keep things clean and have very good items at discounts. Definitely better than spending $15.99 at the Whole Foods for the same quality item here for $5.

😐 Good with some caveats. For the most shopping is a decent experience until you get to the cashiers. Either they have an attitude, or they are inept or a combination of both. With some good cashiers this store could be something special.

👍 In between. Convenient, wide selection of foods and nice people working here. It is in between a full grocery store and a convenience shop. Much more than a 7-11 but not as much as a Meijer. Surprisingly, their fresh produce and butcher counter is awesome. A very convenient place if you live nearby...

😠 The prices are ridiculous, the cashiers aren't friendly and the food isn't good quality. Just because it's in Detroit doesn't mean it has to be substandard!
