Tried El Rey for the first time! So exciting and delicious. Hole in the wall. Server was suuper friendly and helpful. I ordered the vegetarian arepa with sweet plaintains- my favorite thing we ate! I also split fried yuca with onions and the pork 'k-rod'.

VERY VERY GOOD. As a Jamaican, I can say that Venezuelan food is similar to Caribbean and it was a very friendly staff and very good atmosphere you smell it right before you walk in. Definitely coming back. Get the Parilla Mix!. 🇻🇪🇯🇲❤️

I had my first taste of Venezuelan food here. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the waiters were very friendly and helpful. I spoke Spanish the entire time and they were very attentive and understood me well. I highly recommend anything on the menu.

Fantastic authentic Venezuelan food. You will love it! I lived in Venezuela for a time and this is great cuisine. The building is old and a bit run down, and it could be cleaner though. Overall, I still would go back.

Such an amazing place. The best in the menu was the "*Cachapa*" (ka-cha-pa). Don't be fooled by the ingredients, it just melts in your mouth. I am a vegetarian and has been rated accordingly. They are probably moving to a nicer looking location. That is when they would would earn another 🌟 in this review.

AUTHENTIC! Great arepas and service. Traditional Venezuelan cuisine. The garlic sauce (green sauce) is fantastic, as was the shredded beef. Will definitely be back

The food is great! The service is great! You can tell that every plate of food is important to them, made fresh when you order, if you’re ever in Detroit, El Rey, is worth the try! I’ll be back!!

Great space for authentic Venezuelan and Columbian dishes. Arepas and empanadas were made fresh. Kind service and attentive. Ordered the coffee with whiskey, passion fruit juice, chicken arepa with all the fixings, chicken empanadas, and churros. Great place for casual eats. Parking is minimal, wait times are short, dining space is somewhat cleanly, however cooking space looks overall clean. Takes cash and card.

Amazing! They also serve halal! They are willing to swap out pork items with beef/chicken items. I'll definitely come back again.

Good food and good prices! Very little space for large groups so be forewarned.

Very friendly people! The food and drinks were amazing. We got the chicken and vegetarian (with avocado and a fried egg) arepas and the passion fruit juice. This was a pleasant experience with awesome Venezuelan people!

I've been eating at this restaurant for years and I really like the food and the people who works there. The only concern I have is that I noticed the portions getting smaller and smaller. I remember when they just opened the restaurant I couldn't finish a plate because was a lot. last time I went there the portion was so small like literally was a spoon of rice and a spoon of beans and the pork chop wasn't even close to the size that used to be.
