One of my favorite places in Michigan. Beautiful Church and Liturgy, solid theology and teaching from the Canons, and friendly and warm community.

Absolutely stunning church. Came for a seven church pilgrimage on Holy Thursday two years in a row. Parking is tight with a small lot across the street but you won’t be disappointed by the mass here and the parishioners . Amazing that they do the traditions Latin mass here to!

Beautiful post gothic French style revival architecture, the Knights of St. John International serve there, a noble order of traditional Catholic military order of knighthood. The priest or canons celebrate the traditional Latin holy mass, and was one of the few authentic steadfast sanctuaries of worship that stayed open during the pandemic, didn't enforce mask and moved contrary to the spirit of the age which was fear. It is a beautiful, free and vibrant community truly moved by the Holy Spirit. May the Spirit of the Lord be with you...

Truly an incredible place to worship Our Lord. The Canons of the Institute of Christ the King have transformed the church. Beautiful liturgy with all the smells and bells, dedicated altar servers, and a congregation who sings and chants along with the spectacular schola cantorum (choir). God bless St Joseph’s!

I was on vacation for a few days in Michigan and stayed about 25 minutes away from here. I just had to see for myself the beauty of this place and I was not disappointed. I attended a high mass for Assumption of Our Lady and was blown away by the chants, the organ, the overall reverence of this TLM. The ICKSP always sets the standard for liturgical discipline and beauty. I attended mass 3 more times here and I was utterly moved by the Novena to St. Joseph, I even kissed a relic belonging to the Foster father of Our Lord Himself!! On my last day I was emotional and didn't want to leave. I will and pray that God allows me to visit this place again. Support this parish in any way you can, they truly are doing God's work.

Thanks to ICKSP for offering the Latin Mass and reviving this beautiful traditional church. Confessions before every Mass. Heavenly Gregorian chant - especially at the Easter Vigil. Traditional teaching. Priests that are here to shepherd in charity. Lovely parishioners. I am so happy to see the Latin Mass growing in Michigan. Lex orandi, lex credendi.

Church was open for me to take several photos and spend some time with the Blessed Sacrament Edit October 2023. Got to visit for Mass and Confession. Both were the most edifying Sacraments of each, I have been able to receive in a long, long time. Mass was done extremely well. Father didn't hold back in confession either, making clear of what is right and wrong, while also sounding relatable and practical. I left so refreshed. Definitely recommend!

I have attended Mass at St. Joseph Shine about 5 times now, and each time is a glorious experience— reverent, wonderful times attending the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. This church is a beautiful piece of history and we are blessed to have it still with us. The Traditional Latin Mass is the truly Catholic Mass of all time.

Lovely Gothic Revival church on a highway island downtown Detroit. Once there, you will find peace and tranquility in this space. Liaten for beautiful music on weekends at services!

This was an absolutely breath taking church to visit! Felt so peaceful sitting in mass. Everything is original from when the church was built (looks like).

Such a beautiful church, the front doors were open and visitors are welcome to enter. I found it breathtaking inside this 150 year old Catholic Church, a very special place 🙏

Beautiful and reverent TLM. I usually go on holy days of obligation. It's an incredibly beautiful church. The Holy Mass is well attended, it's a large basilica and it's always packed, and there are lines to have confessions heard. There are so many young families and young adults.

Beautiful Latin Mass community, if I ever find myself in Detroit, I attend St Joseph's. The ICKSP runs this parish, they do a wonderful job in keeping tradition alive.

Epic building, gorgeous Church, currently (October-November 2023) run by the Institute of Christ the King, Sovereign Priest, so the Mass and Sacraments here are exclusively and wonderfully Tridentine Traditional Latin! 🙌🏼

It is a small yet beautiful Church in a neighborhood that is rapidly changing, bordering the quickly rebuilding downtown and a poor neighborhood. The ICKSP community celebrate beautiful Masses and their website so far seems always up to date. It is worth the visit.

The first time I came here I was moved to tears. One of the most beautiful shrines I've ever seen. The preists were very reverent, and the sermon was powerful, he talked about the importance of our baptism and what it means to be reborn again as followers of Christ. Come enjoy the TLM at this shrine. It will change your life.

The traditional latin Mass is uplifting and realizes the other world (heaven). Its where heaven and earth meet. I am fortunate to be a member of this parish and do all I can to support it and the Institute of Christ the King! There is much sacrifice and love given by our priests and parishioners to uphold our church and the Catholic Faith. I get Catholicism! I get the real thing. As some one puts it "an ice cream sundae with whipped cream and cherry on the top!

Definitely the most beautiful church I have ever been to. Lovely traditional liturgy, and such faithful Canons.

Just a beautiful, amazing cathedral. A great Mass experience. I felt so much closer to God there. Latin Mass was so great. A truly blessed place. Just magnificent!

Old fashion church. I love the antiques statue. The scenery is solemn and a good place to offer your prayer to St. JOSEPH the foster father of Jesus our Lord. The spouse of the Virgin Mary.

Exciting parish, especially for those who are interested in the Catholic Church's pre-conciliar liturgy.

A beautiful church that offers the Latin mass. My first visit so I was a bit unsure of how the mass would transpire. They provide a booklet for us who are unfamiliar with the Latin. It was a beautiful mass. You can feel God all around you.

The high mass is an experience I've only seen here.

Beautiful church, community and priests! I love it all! I love how there is confession before mass every day, especially sometimes after mass!
