I walked into to this store and was greeted by a automatic gate that is obviously keeping track of people, and then suddenly I was overwhelmed with this rancid order of seafood. The entire "fresh" seafood counter was closed, and there was rotting seafood in the case, and even the fresh counter section was closed. Why? This was at 7pm. This Kroger looks like it's on the verge of shutting down! What is happening? Was it Covid? Inflation? Management? Absolutely revolting and appalling conditions with expired looking produce everywhere with absurd prices. It's incredibly sad to see a city that was prospering upwards, now filled with weed shops, shutdown restaurants, and filth everywhere. Hazel Park is back on a dangerous trajectory that needs to stop immediately. Sad.

This is the worst run store on the planet. Lines are always aisles deep (see attached photo). Kroger makes billions of dollars, the CEO made 13m last year alone, revenues exceed 150B annually, and they cant rub two nickels together to hire a couple extra employees. These arent the acts indicative of a place of business, its the face of a criminal enterprise.

They have very fresh and very well prepared vegetarian Sushi. Plus it was one of the only stores that had frozen cut okra. There wasn't a long wait in the check out line and the cashier was friendly.

Would ya’ll pay a living wage so you can staff your store? Lines are crazy long. Store is crazy gross. Do better, Kroger. Staff is hustling their heart out, doing all they can. I add this context for fear that Kroger - like so many other retail giants - will deflect this 1-star review onto their already overworked staff. This one-star review is directed at Kroger as a business. A giant, massively profitable business. In a better world, this hellish, minimal viable product you’ve created would be illegal. You’re a parasitic blight on the community.

10 min to grab some things and 25 min to check out. Can't tell me this Kroger doesn't profit enough to hire more employees and pay them enough to stick around. This is consistently the slowest Kroger I've been to

Did order pick up and it was good but they never seem to complete my order. It’s like they are always out of the items I wanted. Also, when I went inside to the customer service area to get a replacement Kroger plus card no one was there at the counter. I waited and still nobody showed up. I went to the cashier and asked the employee and she said I have to reapply for a new card. My points will not transfer over so basically you’re starting fresh which I thought was dumb. There should be replacement card if you lost your card!

Placed a pickup order and it got cancelled. No one called to inform me of this. Go in to talk to a manager and go figure not one available. Seen about 10 workers standing around doing nothing. When I find someone to talk to she says it’s the website that’s down…..looks at the employee who handles the online orders and she says “I’m off”…..and then the woman looks at me and chuckles and says the only thing I can do is help you get your order. Are you kidding me?!?! This is by far the worst grocery store I’ve stepped foot into and will NEVER again support this place or it’s lazy, incompetent staff! What a joke! Long lines, filthy, and staff that don’t work or help! Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere!

I've never seen a store that employees so few cashiers that there was always this long of a line. Self checkout too. There is only ever two registers open and the self checkout line is always 50-100 feet long. Always takes 20 minutes for checkout. It's insane that they don't hire or allocate more employees. I know the company is making money, why aren't they paying enough or allocating workers properly.

I've been going here for a few years now so this I have given then a fair shake... here are the issues: They are never on time for grocery pickup, which basically defeats the purpose of it. They are always out of stock of at least 1 or 2 items each trip. They used to have fresh meat and deli cheese. You could walk up and they would cut it in front of you but they no longer have that but all the other krogers do. Finally the most annoying part is anytime you shop in person they are horribly under staffed which makes the lines very long and self check out is never open so they'll always be down to one open register regardless of the time of day.

(Edited for grammar/spelling) Worst Kroger on the planet (perhaps?). Sad that I had time to think of leaving a review after 35 min in line (and looks like another 15 to go?!). Severely understaffed, which is of course not the employees’ faults- I’m sure they do what they can. I’d let this go, but something bad happens EVERY time I’m here, whether it’s skeleton crew staff or the multiple times when I’ve really needed something from the customer service counter, which seems to always be closed. I’m actually angry at myself for subjecting myself to this experience again when I know better! I know there’s a supply chain issue at the moment, but this is the only Kroger in the area that is missing a ridiculously large amount of grocery inventory- it’s not like this at the other nearby locations. In Michigan, I’ve been to a zillion Kroger locations and this one gives me a headache- I’m not sure if it’s an issue w/ the owner, or if the franchise just doesn’t care about this location? Or if the company is maybe ignoring the basic stores in favor of the Marketplace locations? I’m just guessing. One thing is for sure: this area deserves better, especially where so many people don’t have a car and can’t choose to drive a few miles away to another location. I fall into that category today- I’m grateful to have a car, but it’s with a friend who needs it more than me tonight, and I’ve been in line for so long that I’m pretty sure I’ll miss my bus line and need to walk pretty far with a ton of groceries- it’s just once for me, but no one should have to deal with this on a regular basis.

Hands down the worst Kroger I've been to as far as checking out goes. On any given day the lines are longgggg. One set of self checkouts open and two (at most) regular checkouts. I'm currently standing in a line that spans all the way to the back of the store. There are people behind me too. This is a common occurrence. There is no such thing as a quick trip at this store.

I've been a Kroger girly for years but since I moved this is my local store now and I HATE this location. Today I saw 2 6pc packages of kefir (a dairy product that must be refrigerated) sitting on the floor next to the cooler they belong in. They weren't even unpacked, so that tells me it wasn't done by a customer. So gross. Every time I go here I see something crazy like that and the employees seem so stressed out. The lines here are always atrocious. I have not once been able to get a cart or even a basket for my items, never even seen a basket in here. The customer service desk people pretend they don't see you so they don't have to help you. And this is just what I've seen in like 4 or 5 trips to the store. I'm done!

More than Hlhalf the items in the store are out of stock. During the weekends the lines go all the way back to the back of the store. There is usually only one self checkout section open and only one register. And don't think that you'll be able to pay cash for the self-checkouts, because those are usually card only. The bottle return area is closed 80% of the time. Service desk has been closed every time I go in. This has been consistently one of the worst Krogers that I have been to in the past 2 years. I don't blame it on the employees that work there, I blame it on management and upper management. They focus on doing whatever to get their bonus and not worry about anything else. They're also never around. And the worst part, and saddest part....it's the only grocery store in the area. I hope Kroger can get the right people in place so that this store can turn around.

Called to price chicken for a future event and the woman just kept saying "chicken is fully booked" ??? I kept asking what she meant by that, are they no longer selling chicken? She just kept saying this. I finally said "you don't even know the date of my event so how do you know you're booked?" And then she asked the date with such attitude, I hung up. Never again.

Always short-staffed, which is not the employees fault, but makes for an awful customer experience, since Kroger won't hire more people or treat employees well enough to want to work there. The staff that is there is usually curt, if you can find someone. Customer service is never open. The pharmacy acts like you're a nuisance. And everyone gives you misinformation. Produce is often poor quality and sparse. I avoid at all costs.

I went in on 12/22/2023 at about 3:30-3:45pm. I want to pay special attention to the bagger who helped me. I could tell they were shorthanded, but he still went out of his way to do a great job in helping get my groceries packaged. Thank you!

Hands down the worst Kroger in existence. Unbelievably long lines, every single time I come here. Today I also had the absolute rudest employee “help” me at the self checkout, which was just her very snobbily saying she can’t do anything, and I need to take all my items off the bagging area including a heavy case of water. Cool. I can’t believe this place is still standing at this point. Others are right - drive the extra few minutes to a different location.

Pay your workers more. Hard working, kind staff that deserves more, but so many problems with staffing, pricing, and stocking at this location. Produce section is almost always near barren, prices frequently ring up wrong in the system, and lines are nearly always unreasonably long. A corporation this huge should value the people that generate its revenue and pay them generously, reflecting how crucial of a role they play.

I placed an online pickup order. They never brought my groceries out, but charged my ebt card. Now I have to wait 30 days for a refund. I will NEVER shop here again! The McDonald's next door is garbage too..... Update: NEVER received the refund to my card. Kroger out here stealing $107 in food from a single mother.

Went to Kroger at 9:50, 10 minutes before Kroger closes. We try to get in, the doors are locked, and the employee behind the door MOCKS us because we can't get in. She puts her hands together prayer style, leans them against her head and mouths "GOOD NIGHT" with a sarcastic look. I hear a lady yelling from her car that the employees won't let her in, but SHE NEEDS SOMETHING FOR HER BABY. I don't care about my needs. But this poor lady needs to take care of HER BABY and with 10 minutes until the store closes, SHE HAS EVERY RIGHT TO. Extremely disappointed with this location. What is wrong with people?

Only because I can't rate it zero. To be fare, the selection of items is pretty good. The vegetables are kept fresh with the sprinklers, but the biggest problem is the cashier's. They have 3 check out areas, but rarely open more than 1. It isn't uncommon for 2/6 of the computers to be down at the only checkout area. Comically bad is the best way to describe it. Sometimes you get lucky and you are in and out in a couple of minutes, sometimes there's nobody in the store and the line stretches back to the end of the aisle because 3 self checkout computers are running for everybody. I switched to Meijer for big trips and the hazel Park food center for small ones, will make an effort to never go back here even though it's 1/2 mile away from me.

I have tried giving this store a chance multiple times since it’s close to me, but every time I instantly regret it. We’ve tried to do online pickup orders, and they are consistently out of stock on so many items. Even though they are supposed to substitute items, they usually won’t. I even called one time because we tried ordering lunch meat and chips and on the app it said “out of stock” with no substitution. So, I called and asked if there were no chips or lunch meat in the store and they ended up fulfilling our order with the exact items they claimed were out of stock! If you shop in store, be ready to wait in line forever. We drive to royal oak now which is immensely better than this location.

This store has gone downhill. Half the time they have no bags to put your apples and other fruit in. Also, they are rarely in stock with common items anymore. They rarely have cashiers anymore. Self checkout is the only option and the lines go to the back of the store. Also, the freezers must be turned off sometimes, as I have gotten rotten, spoiled food from the frozen section. The manager should be fired.

I’m rating one star because it’s Kroger‘s absolutely terrible. I have done pick up orders here a few times and a lot of the times my order is either wrong, they’ve given me someone else’s order, or they would cancel my order and I will get no notification that it would cancel so I would just show up and none of my groceries will be ready. If you come to this Kroger between 3 PM to 7 PM they only have three lanes open where the lines go all the way to the back of the store! At least 20 to 30 people in one line, while other employees are in the back hanging out, not working. He will hardly ever find his employee on the sales floor helping people. This Kroger is absolutely poor and needs new management and more employees. Unfortunately this is the only superstore that’s closest to me besides the god-awful Meijer that’s on 8 mile, which is worse. So I guess I’m forced to shop here.

I recently came into cash in a check but was told that it was closed when there were able bodies to do the work. I never come into this place, ever. I can see why I ride past this place all the time. I didn't even think it was legal to close down a place that sells lotto.

Would really love to love this Kroger but they always seem severely understaffed. There has been times where only one side of the self serve is open and lines have been all the way to the back of the store because of this. Very inconvenient especially when you need to pick up a few items. A 15 min trip easily turned into an hour long trip.

Im new to the area and this is the closest Kroger to me, and I will NEVER shop here again. Every time I've been there, there's only self checkout and NO empmoyees anywhere in sight. So invariably as you're scanning your grocery items, it requires a cashier to clear the machine with their card and id. Alcohol purchases, coupons, constant glitches with scanner which erroneously accuses you of not scanning the item. In reality, someone who is dishonest and doesn't care could easily walk out with a full cart because there are NO EMPLOYEES ANYWHERE! I had to search for 10 minutes to get my $40 cask back since their machine was out of cash. I hate this Kroger more than any Kroger Ive ever been to...and I've been to a lot of Krogers. Shame on this one.

Since the pandemic setting foot in a kroger is a terrible experience, and this is the worst one around. Be prepared to wait in line 30 minutes while half the staff stands around doing nothing.

  • 1/5 James S. 9 months ago on Google
Clearly the most ghetto Kroger in the entire area. The store is filthy and poorly stocked. Always understaffed, and the employees they do have are lazy, rude and give attitude if you need help. One cashier in particular, a nasty older woman named Tonya, actually told me to 'stick it up my a**'. I'll never go back to this ghetto store, and if you're smart, you won't either.

Beverly Is the rudest laziest employee this location has. She claims to be a manager but her work ethic shows different. This is the 5th visit I came in and the service desk was closed. I asked the "manager" for assistance and that's when miss rude Beverly yelled at me and said she couldn't do I asked if she could give me a time when it's open a d she yelled again and said not at all. That she was "too busy".... there was 2 customers at self checkout and Beverly rude self was doing nothing.

The worst Kroger in Michigan! The employee's have the worst attitudes and are so very unprofessional. They don't want to work at Kroger at this Kroger. Guess services is never open and went it is, they pick and choose what services they fell like offering. Terrible!
