I had to give this obscure little place that wasn't easy to find five stars! That is probably why they call it "The secret restaurant" There is no sign out front to let you know you have arrived so be sure to use your GPS. It is a storefront with a large ticket price. If you are a foodie and enjoy exploring new cuisine and new flavors this is the spot for you! Be sure to try A-1 Carmel Fried Chicken. It looks burnt but there is nothing burnt about the taste of this crunchy chicken. Next was the Fried Prawns....seasoned to perfection. They fried the prawn whole so all the seasoning was on the outside but still flavorful none the less! Next was the age ribeye cut into chunks covered with micro greens and edible flowers. TENDER & FLAVORFUL!! is all I can say about this piece of beef. Smh delicious! My, my, my this is a must try place to visit. The dessert was cheesecake with coconut ice cream and I ordered the custard with sesame wafers. Hmmm so good! I would say the custard was a bit better than the cheesecake but both tasty. Drinks were good too. There is a passion fruit martini you must try. Remember when in Vietnam you eat as the Vietnamese eat! Don't go trying to change the way they prepare their food. I am sure you will enjoy the experience.

Dependable, very high-quality experience. I love their patio! The pork belly is yummy. Itโ€™s cool that their cocktail names are based off of anime characters. They made a birthday dinner super special.

High expectations not met. The atmosphere was nice but lighting was a little dimmer than it should be. The location feels like the beginning of a gentrification project. The food was ok but not spectacular, the Caramel chicken wings taste a little burnt, I don't get the hype. The Saigon fried rice was good and so was the Bun Thit Nuong but they weren't really what I was envisioning. The waiter was very rude due to his demeanor when asking basic questions about the food but the manager was very accommodating.

Hands down the best dinner we have ever had. We definitely splurged, but it was totally worth every penny. The best wings & ribs I have ever had in my life! The fried rice was also amazing. The Japanese cheesecake is actually bruleed on top. Fabulous service, timing spot on. They really did think of everything down to the warm towel to clean your sticky hands. We will be back! Thank you for a memorable Valentine's day meal!?

The drinks are amazing! My husband is allergic to fish and a great deal of the food is cooked in either fish grease or fish sauce so our options were limited. But the overall service was amazing! I wish every restaurant in Michigan matched their level of service and flexibility.

The shaking beef was absolutely amazing. Perfectly tender with rich flavours. The lemongrass Chinese fried rice was decadent: coconut milk and Chinese sausage with shrimp lending such complexity to fried rice. Cannot wait to return!

Great Ambiance and Service. Some of the best bartenders in Michigan, and the food is creative and delicious. A regular stop!

I was told by several people this place is amazing. I'm happy for those people, but this place wasn't for me. The chicken wings were overcooked and caramel on them was not tasty. The next dish, a cucumber salad was so spicy, it was inedible. The menu did not indicate it was spicy--at all. We tried probably 6 dishes and only the short ribs were really good. I wasn't thrilled that the gratuity was included because our waitress wasn't very present with us. The food and drinks took a long time. The bartender was really sweet though. Overall, I think this place is way overrated, but good for you if you like this place.

Overall had a wonderful meal but was really hoping for more flavor. Our favorite was the shaky beef and fried prawns. Pic is the long beans have never seen them on a menu before so had to get them. They had a great char and were not a disappoint. The clams on the other hand were a disappointment and I would not recommend them at all. I was super excited for the fried mushroom dish and the puree tasted super coconut like and I was slightly disappointed in it too. The fried mushroom was great though! We also had a cold noodle dish D-2 and it was pretty plain.

In an unmarked building, in Mexican town, is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants I've ever dined at. Our server answered all of our questions and made several suggestions both of most popular dishes as well as personal favorites. We started with cocktails, King Piccolo and Inspector Tarconi. Both were very good, the King Piccolo was so unique - sweet and sour but light. We started with the caramel chicken wings, which our server said they were famous for. They were UNBELIEVABLY crispy and delicious. Served on an herb mayo to offset the caramel, and hot towels for sticky fingers. Then we shared item B-2 which has many items from the menu on one dish. We took a good amount home with us too. The Chinese sausage was so good and the pork chop was more delicious than any pork chop I've ever had. I do wish we would ordered the papaya salad, I was really looking forward to trying it and she did mention that there was a small portion on this platter however, it was like one bite. Loved the decor and the option for sparkling or still water. Highly recommend for a nice evening of unique food and drinks.

An incredibly unique meal and experience. The restaurant doesn't have much signage and is in an obscure location, but finding it is part of the fun. The staff is wonderful and the food blew us away. Strong, unique flavors. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a great date night!

As far as the food itself was concerned; 6/10 for flavour and 10/10 for presentation. I found the dishes to be more theatrical than flavourful which was a shame because these beautiful plates were brought to our table and I was disappointed after my first bite. The caramel chicken wings (which I suppose is their claim to fame) tasted like overcooked/ overfried chicken that had so much sauce on it you really probably didnโ€™t even need the chicken in there. The whole fish was great, but honestly the best part about it (aside from presentation) was the tomato mixture on top. That being said the cocktails were quite wonderful! I was not disappointed on any front. I had an amazing meal experience - but I believe this was moreso because of the people I was with and the atmosphere of the restaurant as opposed to the food I was eating.

Absolutely worth every bite and every dollar. Phenomenal service and food. My favorites are the flan, caramel chicken and middle of the mall chicken and for drinks city of light. They charge gratuity but it's well worth the service you receive. You can see everyone works as a wonderful team. If michelin ever comes to Detroit this will easily make the list. Will definitely be back

I'll have to admit... I've been here 3 days in a row, and 4 days in a 7 day stretch! The cocktails are probably in my top 5 cocktails anywhere, and surely in my top 3 in Metro Detroit. Pick anything or get some help from the bartender and you'll be happy... I promise you! Food is great if you're in the mood for Asian/Vietnamese, but if you're not... Just stick to the wings and/or the southern fried rice (and maybe the Vietnamese Street corn). Also, that Japanese cheesecake is something you have to try! The vibe is great/different... Kinda like a hole in the wall meets trendy bar. Service is always prompt and friendly. I really liked this place before COVID and since going back after they reopened the inside, I might LOVE this place now. ๐Ÿคซ๐Ÿ˜

10/10 experience here. The food was amazingly good so well prepared and flavorful without being salty. All my food came out HOT!! The entire staff from the moment we entered to leaving were super attentive, smiling, and kind! Will 100% be back. Everything was delicious. Highly recommend the papaya salad and octopus!!

We are here on a Sunday night and the place is busy but not too busy. We started out with their fried chicken wings that were extra crispy, just the way I like them. I would also recommend the octopus (very tender and flavorful) and the ribs. I think the best dish were the mushrooms, fried with a delicious sauce. We will be eating here again.

EXCELLENT! I have wanted to go here for a while and it did not disappoint. The menu is a bit confusing but the server was helpful and made great suggestions. We had a few items and shared them family style. The food was visually stunning and tasted as good as it looked! Everything was made fresh as we ordered. The ingredients stood out in each dish. Be sure to call ahead as they often book up and donโ€™t have space.

Hands down one of my favorite restaurants to go to. It's definitely an experience. Food is creative, and out of this world delicious!! I always bring any of my friends or out of town guest who haven't tried Flowers of Vietnam and they love it!

  • 5/5 Brooke D. 1 year ago on Google
I have no pictures to show how beautifully everything was presented, but I went to Flowers of Vietnam with a group of four and we were all so impressed. Delicious, interesting menu that is well suited for sharing. We ordered the papaya salad, fried seasonal fish, long beans, and fried rice (B-2) based on recs from our server and loved everything. Just wish we had room for dessert. Next time!

Unpretentious and charming vibe. Every dish was impeccable, and the service was phenomenal (shout out to Drew). One of the best Detroit dining experiences Iโ€™ve had. I recommend the wings, papaya salad with pork, RIBS, and any dish with the prawns or Chinese sausage. This is a great spot for a date or a place to take friends from out of town.

Had a great dinner here. The wings were amazing, perfectly fried with a sweet and spicy sauce. The drink I had was a nice vieux carre riff. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu, I was watching every plate coming out of the kitchen and wishing I had come with more people.

There are some excellent dishes on the menu, and some not so good dishes. I feel like it really depends on your flavor profile which things you like and which things you dislike. Service is hit or miss depending on who your server is and/or if itโ€™s busy or not. I loved the Saigon fried rice, and the middle of the mall chicken. The dessert in the picture was different but it was good. I can only give it 3 stars because I feel like their dishes can be executed at a higher level than they are, like I said itโ€™s hit or miss, more inconsistent than what the expectation is. And service can be questionable depending on who you get.

Best restaurant in Detroit, hands down. Service is friendly and accommodating, not to mention extremely knowledgeable on their product. Cocktails are unique and extremely flavorful. Food is creative and consistently prepared to perfection. I canโ€™t say enough good about this place. As a restaurant/bar owner myself, I find inspiration in the level at which Flowers operates. Big kudos.

Great food, good cocktails and patio dining. Same chocolate we had in Saigon...grown and roasted in Vietnam.

Bo Luc Lac was not authentic at all. They tried to be too cute with the edible flowers and orange in the traditional lime juice, salt, and pepper dip but forgot to focus on the most important part: the tenderness and flavor of the meat. The pork belly was also bland, and texture was mushy. Only thing good about this place is the service and ambiance. The food is simultaneously sub par and over priced.

A cool place with some innovative dishes! My personal favorite of the visit was the Banh Flan desert dish!
