*Update: The dog is being put down. I have learned that the dog has a history of another more severe bite. Shame on you Scott Genord for getting your dog killed. Your irresponsible behavior as a dog owner got your dog killed. Nobody wants an innocent dog to be put down. I did not want the dog to suffer. I hope you learn from this experience, so that you do not harm others and protect the things you care about (your dog I hope). Avoid this gym and scott genord. He is okay with his pitbull biting patrons. He will let a dog with a history of biting loose in the gym. Scott Genord, the gym owner, prioritizes his dog over people's safety. He allows his unleashed pitbull to freely roam in the gym, resulting in a severe dog bite that caused a laceration and bleeding through my pants. At first, he tried downplaying the significance of a dog bite. When I requested him to leash the dog or keep it in a separate room during the class, he refused and told me I could leave instead. I confronted him about prioritizing his dog over the safety of his clients, and he openly admitted to doing so, even telling me to leave. I have taken legal action against him, but it appears that he has filed for bankruptcy. I am not surprised.

Pulse Fitness and its amazing staff were one of the best parts of our time in Michigan. I would suggest anyone on the fence stop in for a visit. You won't find a more knowledgeable but friendly staff or a more welcoming atmosphere.

I just love Pulse so much. It's a down to earth gym with lots of well maintained equipment, terrific trainers, great classes, and lots of parking. Great smoothies too!

Pulse is such a joke now it's sad. They filed for bankruptcy, continue to raise prices, and provide terrible customer service. Liz is an awful manager who just likes to gossip and Scott is extremely rude and creepy towards anyone that walks in.

I’m reviewing to communicate the last two experiences I’ve had at Pulse in August 2023. I emailed the gym and Liz replied with a less than caring response of “we hope to see you soon” without acknowledging my concerns or care for the poor experiences I had. Liz was also the point of contact while I was in the building both times in learning that the classes were canceled without notice. On 8.16 I had a reserved class for Pilates Reformer for 7pm. I was notified at the time of my arrival (6:45pm) that the class was cancelled as I was the only person who had booked the class. I did not receive a text. The email that I then found in my inbox was time stamped for 6:40pm. That’s 5 minutes prior to the time of check in of the class. I was helped in rebooking for another class at the desk and while I was disappointed, I had accepted the cancellation as a lack of communication and was hopeful for a better outcome in the future. Although the instructor was already in the building finishing class with a group prior to my reserved class - this could’ve been an opportunity to connect with me personally or provide me with an exceptional experience of 1:1 work, while not expected it would’ve really left a stellar impression. I had signed up for the trial member (unsure what it’s called) and this would’ve been my 5th and final class. I was considering becoming an ongoing monthly member as the location is near my business in Ferndale and home. On August 28th, I arrived at 7:00pm for my 7:15 Pilates class (that I had booked with the help of the desk staff at the last time when my previous class was canceled on me) and was greeted at the desk by the same person who had stepped in to help me about 10 days ago. She said the class was canceled for some reason (the instructors work hours or a conflict) but then shared it was because I was 1 of 2 people who had reserved and the gyms policy is to cancel. I did not receive an email, call or text to communicate the situation. I expressed my disappointment and legitimate concerns that while the gym would penalize me if I canceled with 5 minutes notice (or no notice as in my case tonight), there is little recourse for me, the guest, in the event of a cancellation. My email address and number are correct in the profile on MINDBODY. While I may not have been opted into texts prior to 8.16 I am currently and still did not receive a text. This was an opportunity to build a relationship with a new member and I feel it’s important to share my thoughts and experience because I know how important honest client engagement and feedback are to independent businesses building their reputations in communities. I’m disappointed and frustrated. When I emailed, Liz, who read my email replied with very little regard and said something to the effect that, “we hope to see you soon” without acknowledging the two separate incidents where I didn’t receive the services I paid for. I was hopeful to enjoy this gym with its location and flexible class times but if the classes I want are canceled regularly it doesn’t really meet the needs I have.

The big "equipment upgrade" Scott talked about left the gym EMPTY for over two months and it's still not even full yet. I was left with barely any weights, no cardio equipment at the start of the new year, no follow-up updates were sent out to the paying members; all while still being charged full price for an empty gym. Management dropped the ball on this and showed how they really feel about their members.

Took the new Reformer Pilates they offer the other day and left feeling very uncomfortable. There was an older gentleman (who I'm assuming was the owner) just sitting in the corner with his dog and was filming the group of women on the reformers working out without our permission. I'll be sticking to going to solidcore and actual pilates studios.

I want to give this place a 5 but the pricing is a little high, but at the same it keeps the gym from being packed with people who just hold up machines texting. So, gym deserves a 5. They have everything you need though. Scott (owner) is awesome, Maya the front desk girl is so friendly and helpful as well.

If I could give this gym 10 stars I would. I have always been a bit of a gym rat but not until I came to Pulse 9 months ago would I have thought that I could be more excited to go workout every day. Scott and his staff are truly all amazing and so are all of the other members - it is such a welcoming environment. I've worked out with multiple trainers and taken countless classes - all of them push you to your limits and challenge you and they all invest in the time and effort to continuously improve. I've introduced all of my friends and family to Pulse and everyone is equally as impressed. Can't say enough about it... just go there.

I have lived all over the country and out of the country, done all the trending workouts, and fitness studios, but Pulse is by far the best gym and fitness experience that’s out there. It’s like joining a family and community! The staff is amazing, the gym is massive with all brand new equipment, the trainers are top notch. It honestly will not disappoint, and is the highlight of my day. It’s also a great place to meet like minded attractive people who are into fitness and wellness. It’s the place to be! 💪🏼

I found Pulse Fitness through Classpass almost four years ago when I was specifically looking to do an aerial silks class. I liked the environment and staff so I signed up for a couple other classes. I was hooked. There is such a variety of classes offered throughout the day. The staff makes a real effort to know you. The machines are in great shape and the space is huge. The locker rooms are clean. There is a steam room in each one. If you are looking for a gym, I highly recommend checking this one out.

Really excellent facility! Has every single piece of equipment that you would want and top notch trainers. You can tell that this place comes from a serious body building background and the whole community makes you feel supported. Not to mention an excellent smoothie bar.

Love the vibe here!! The classes are excellent. The entire staff, including the trainers, are super welcoming and fun. The trainers are able to offer modifications during class and really make the space approachable.

Wonderful gym. The facilities are excellent, and the trainers are both challenging and supportive both in and out of sessions. The gym feels like a community, and this is the only time I've felt this about a gym. I have to admit, though, one of the initial selling points was that the owners' dogs are present to encourage you throughout your workout.

Pulse is an outstanding gym. The trainers are consistently passionate about what they do. The culture at this place is something I have not experienced before in fitness training-and has to be experienced personally to be fully appreciated. I read other reviews before joining myself. While the reviews were all good, the experience itself is far better. Pulse Fitness Training deserves your consideration and attention...check it out, you will be glad you did.

Everything about this gym is amazing! From the front desk staff when you walk in, to every instructor making you feel like your dreams and goals are their number one priority! It's a community that comes from authentic staff and caring owners! Marci and Eric are such great members of their team! HIGHLY recommend this gym to anyone looking to become a part of something more!

For sure the best gym in Metro Detroit. I've been here for 14 months now, and can honestly say that the trainers here are at the top of their game, the gym is always clean, people respect the equipment and clean up after themselves. If you are serious about training or want to learn how to get there, this place is amazing--so glad I decided to come here, and worth every single penny over what PF/LA/Lifetime charge.

This is a fantastic gym with a strong community. The crowds are never too big, and there is plenty of equipment to go around. The class offerings are very diverse and a lot of fun. Their personal training options are also great. Justin in particular is an excellent trainer, and helped me recover from a lower back injury. When I started working with him I had just finished physical therapy and was afraid to lift anything on my own. Now I am back to squatting and deadlifting with no issues, and am so grateful for that!

After leaving my old gym, I was pleasantly surprised to find Pulse Fitness. They have a large facility with a wide array of equipment and all of the amenities. Pulse also has a large variety of classes that they offer throughout the day. From HIIT to strength to core to boxing and others - I have not taken a class that I did not like. All of the staff and instructors are top notch - friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and motivating. This facility really has it all - even a shake bar! 😋 I’m so glad that I found this hidden gem of a gym! Definitely the best gym in the area!!
