This Location was one of the best, the most clean, & has amazing staff. I have been a regular member for 6 years now and I go every day, never complained once ! Recently it has become the worst: 1- They hold classes during peak times on the fitness floor, they occupy the middle of the fitness floor for 1 full hour. Class participants hold equipments from matts to dumbbells to steps for 1 hr. I am not sure what kind of gym holds classes on the fitness floor, during the busiest time and block other members from having access to what they have equally paid for: Access to fitness and workout equipments ! this not only ridiculous, this is unfair yet rude from whoever gave the instructor the green light to hold this class at this time. This is poor management ! Classes should be held in private studios with their own equipments and accessories! See picture of how the dumbbells rack was looking like for a full hour and half (no joke, 1.5 hrs!!!!). This is happening every single day ! and the rack to the left was empty too ! Why? because the people who are taking that class are each holding on 2-3 sets of dumbbells. Let alone the speaker she brings with her because everyone is entitled to listen to her pick of music on top of the gym speaker music. Chaos ! 2- They are running over-capacity. management should stop taking new memberships. Being greedy is gonna fire back because loyal members unlike seasonal members are gonna sooner or later leave without coming back because it has become extremely annoying ! wait times on machines are ridiculously long. gym is literally packed ! 3- Barbell locks made in 1900, you need three men to squeeze it to fit on a barbell and most of them are outdated and broken ! Maybe someone should remind their purchasing department that it is 2022 and there are new models on the market ! 4- Smelly & unclean bathroom !

Nice facility and the workers are nice, however extremely disappointed with the money grab tactics. They were attempting to close the 24 hours before covid happened and they heard a lot of push back from Michigan members, so they abandoned this plan. Once covid happened they took full advantage and reopened with awful hours. We pay a premium to use the gym 24/7. They have frequently pushed back even though multiple members have expressed wanting a 24 hour gym. And on top of that they recently increased the membership prices by $10 a month. It seems that lifetime does not care about member satisfaction. If I can workout in your gym unmasked with no social distancing enforced, you can pay two - three people again to work overnight so the gym can be 24 hours. I’m only staying because this gym isn’t as bad as most of the other gym chains in Michigan.

Lifetime fitness was a well rounded facility but they decided to raise the price take away the basketball courts to build pickle ball courts to solely cater to elderly Caucasian members, fading out all other ethnicities. Sincerly Wooooo

This gym's management is a JOKE! As a diamond member I would have expected some quality service here but EVERYTIME I have called this gym, either the manager is not available, the voicemail is not monitored or the person is on vacation. I never get a call back despite my voicemails and when I go in person to ask for a contact info, their '"internet and phone are down". The diamond member parking is also gone. The popular group fitness classes are slowly disappearing. Lifetime corporate if you are reading this message, then INTERVENE before this becomes a low budget local gym.

These people don't provide option to cancel the membership or put in hold through phone support / online, I asked question how can someone place request of cancellation when he is out of town and moved out for emergency reason temporarily, they are not ready to answer. They want me to talk the call center, they are also not really helping, this membership is big TRAP.

Great facility with an ample amount of all kinds of equipment that you'd expect to find in a gym, plus more. The indoor pool and hot tubs are amongst the nicest in the metro Detroit family of clubs. Basketball courts are also top notch at this location. The staff is friendly and always a pleasure to see. Unfortunately though, rules are not enforced here and employees are rarely present on the gym floor. The weight room is in a near constant state of disarray, with weight plates, grips and handles scattered across the floor everywhere. Even on the multiple occasions I've been the first person into the weight room at open, the place is never clean or organized. Used towels are left on machines overnight. Bench presses and squat racks are left with weights on. Barbells are left in the middle of walkways. Plastic bottles and used wet wipes are also left at machines for the members to take care of. Besides people spilling coffee and energy drinks in an area that is supposed to be 'clear drinks only', gym staff doesn't do anything about people bringing large backpacks and duffle bags onto the gym floor which clog up an already messy area. Multiple members also seem to feel that this is their own personal at home gym and will reserve multiple pieces of equipment at once by putting their sweaty towels over them and then walking away. I've even been angrily confronted by a member for using a machine that nobody had been on for 5 minutes because it was part of their 'circuit' and I should've known better, despite there being no signs of a person using said equipment. Few people wipe down machines after use, but gym etiquette isn't practiced, enforced or seemingly even encouraged here so it's best to wipe down your machines both before and after. Overall, it's a nice facility with some nice staff, but seemingly nobody is willing to clean the place up or hold any members responsible for breaking the rules and junking the place up. Other lifetime locations are much better kept than this one. If you are new to gyms I wouldn't recommend this one, it is not beginner friendly.

DISGUSTING AND DEADLY!!!! Second time I have been in their pool and people are either spitting on the deck or directly in the pool and no one says anything to them. Lifeguards are not paying attention. Pool should have been closed immediately! Swam into a big glob of phlegm!!!!! When I canceled my subscription to their membership, they have consistently try to bill me for an additional month. Beware. This place is the absolute worst

Unfortunately my experience with this club is very poor. I have signed for personal training in $90/h rate 3h/week planned, and paid in full even second month before first month is over. Later on I have decided to sign Lifetime Bloomfield Hills club, and asked unused funds to be returned to my account, to trainer, club manager, and I have got NOTHING in response, but ignoring.

I also agree that they need to stop having fitness classes in the middle of the gym. It’s very rude, chaotic, distracting, and takes away a lot of the equipment that paid members use. Also, I have joined a group fitness class before and I will not join one again for that reason—that it’s in the middle of the gym. Also, way too many members have been joining and it is becoming overly packed—especially during a pandemic.

We've been coming here for years during holiday visits from NY. This is one of favorite things about coming back for the holidays!!! It is such a breath of fresh air: Thoughtful staff, great equipment, beautiful people, clean and modern locker room (with locks and eucalyptus steam room!!!). You Detroiters have it good!

I feel very comfortable coming back to this gym after 6 months of being closed. They have a temperature screening at the front desk before you go in, everything is spaced out on the fitness floor and masks are mandatory. During my workout I noticed most of the people cleaning the machines/weights after using them. Also, staff members are going around and wiping things down. There is disinfectant spray/wipes located everywhere and hand sanitizer. Courts are still closed, but that's a given. Nonetheless, I am very happy to be back and feel very comfortable.

I have been a member here for many years. Recently, I found that their management is getting worse and worse. The attitude of the service staff is not good. Several of the cleaning staff just sit around talking when there are many things that need to be cleaned. I heard similar complaints in the locker room.

Lifetime has reduced the basketball times and what is offered is usurped by the camps/daycare. Pickleball has taken a whole gym and is often not used but is blocked off 100% of the time for pickleball. Time to look for a new gym

Angela, who runs the pickle balls very rude. They were in pickle ball leagues on Thursday nights, but she disrespectfully started to push one of my kids with a pickle ball net at about 520. And then told us we had to clear the other end of the court, which they weren’t even supposed to start using for another 40 minutes. Been a member at lifetime for close to 19 years. And I’ve never had somebody act so disrespectful to me or my guest. Definitely need to just give people a little bit more respect and not try to push people with equipment especially kids.

Terrible customer service and shady billing. This place didn’t notify me that my account that was on hold was going to be charged fully because they didn’t take down a proper email when I came in to change my info even though I came in in person and asked repeatedly if all my info had been changed! Been charging me for months and won’t refund me. And I’m seeing lots of yelp reviews on cleanliness issues and bad customer service although I can’t say since I haven’t been there in months. One things for certain is they don’t make it easy to cancel a membership or change it EVEN if you do it in person so make sure you read the fine print before you sign your life away! Be prepared to jump through hoops and provide exact documentation on everything or they can and will keep your money! The account manager Sarah could have cared less and their corporate guy Dustin didn’t either. Even if you do go in person they absolutely can just not record your info properly and keep charging you and they will blame it on you! So beware!

Use to be a great place to workout but now its just an adult kindergarten with less than cleanliness in mind, a friend of mine picked up a staph infection there last summer. Most of the staff which is usually more in number than the patrons could use some diversity training to say the least. The place needs a total staff overhaul. Not worth the high cost!

Probably the worst gym I’ve ever been to. The men’s locker room was basically trash; specially the showers (dirty wet towels on the floor, used razors, empty used products bottles…) all in the one time I’ve visited this gym. The whole locker room floor was watery and dirty.

Some people working here are nice. Plenty amenities. Some other people working here need some education. Maybe some life experience too. While at the Cafe, I asked for a pizza at 4pm on a Sunday, for my 3 year old daughter . The young girl at the counter smirked at me saying no food was available. Frustrating. Then continued in complaining to a colleague, gossiping about how awful of a client I was, how she woke up at 6;30am , how she only ate quesadilla today, how she’s so hungry. Guess what? So is my child!! Better your attitude, I’m sure life will teach you some lessons when you grow up!!

Tony at the front desk goes above and beyond to ensure that all guests are treated with respect and a warm greeting. I appreciate the service of all of the staff and want to especially thank Tony for his efforts. All guests should be greeted as Tony greets guests.

Very clean gym. No complaints about the gym in general. Employees seem a little rude unless you’re in the click. But that’s how most high end gyms are.

This gym is great and the staff is fantastic and friendly! Jackie at the front desk is super attentive and quick to help me with any questions. Sarah went above and beyond finding my lost company card; when it wasn't found in either of the lost and found spots she searched through every other office in the gym that it could have been turned in to, no matter how unlikely it was that it would be there, until she found it, and she was exceptionally polite the entire time.

As a fitness enthusiast what else do one need. There are basketball courts. A huge gym floor with all the exercising equipment, A separate place for aerobics, Swimming pool for kids and adults along with jacuzzi and steam sauna. There is also a kids center available for your younger ones. It's one fine destination for everyone in the community. Oh did I forget to mention a cafe, ohh yes it is also there .

Top class but you pay top price , overall I liked the gym atmosphere and great staff. Must learn for other gyms. Equipment are top stuff. When you have money go for it. My primary use is the Swimming pool and most of the time they run swim classes during my gym time locking 3 lanes out of 5 on weekdays, so practically you need to share with others in the next two lanes or wait for a chance, this is real raw deal in the Novi one.

Really appreciated Nick DeHetre's fantastic efforts when signing us up for membership. Nick is amazing! He's personable, friendly, and has a genuine passion for the work he does. Worst Place ever for GYM!! Especially the billing department. They forcefully renewed our account and when we asked to cancel on phone asked us to come to location physically cancel and we did that still ended up paying one month's charge. I had to cancel as we don't feel comfortable in going to a physical GYM location given the COVID circumstances. Very disappointing in Life time fitness club.

It’s the worst lifetime center I’ve ever went to. EXTREMELY BAD MANAGEMENT. We enrolled specifically for our kids, for the sport activities. We drop the kids in the kids area so they take them for the activities, and we emphasise to the care givers about the activities we reserved for them. Then after we do our exercise we discover that the kids have been all time in the kids room and they have not taken them to the sport activities. This happened more than 4 times in only 2 weeks. We complained about this several times and nothing happened. Extremely bad management, we are wasting our money and time in this location

Jeremiah, the Personal Trainer at the Novi location, works wonders especially for athletes. I spoke to him about sport specific movements seeking clarity and his explanation about muscle imbalance, tenderness, strengthening, mobilizing, and post care providing different remedies was incredible. He has a genuine passion to help people, a detailed skill level for weight training, and his kinesiology knowledge makes him excellent at his craft. I HIGHLY recommend him as a PT, 5 stars.

Best gym around Novi!! Monthly fee is a bit high but worth it if you are regular to the gym. There are plenty of equipments and the group fitness classes are awesome. They provide lockers inside the restrooms if you need to leave your stuff somewhere. Been a member since 3 yrs and I love it!

  • 5/5 Dave M. 1 year ago on Google
I’ve been a member for about 18 months at the time of writing this and overall it’s been a great experience. I’ve been going to gyms for over 20 years (YMCA, Golds, Fitness19, LA Fitness and some private clubs) and seriously wonder if some of the people leaving negative reviews have ever been elsewhere (the bar is VERY low and LTF Novi is far above it). In my experience, the staff from the locker room attendants all the way up to management has been approachable, helpful and pleasant. I hired a trainer for a while and he was awesome. I’ve also asked other trainers questions when I’m trying to learn a new trick and they’re always helpful. Remember, they’re doing a job want to sell you their expertise so don’t be offended when they try. Anytime I’ve seen behavior unbecoming of a public gym it’s ALWAYS a fellow member who are either oblivious, uneducated or abusing equipment and unfortunately that’s an epidemic and not at all unique to this brand or location. You can certainly find a less expensive option but with everything that comes with the membership I don’t believe there’s better value out there.

Facility is very clean and the locker rooms are equipped with everything you need to get ready. Bree is a wonderful trainer, very professional and educated should you need a trainer. All machines and weights are well maintained and/or new. I love that the treadmills actually link up to your watch and have fans. Cleaning stations are located throughout the facility with towels. There’s also a cafe with food and drinks, sauna, steam room, indoor/outdoor pools, etc. They’ve really thought of everything. I absolutely love the studio classes but have stopped attending a few due to the instructors playing nothing but remix music so unbelievably loud and then yelling over the music. I’ve also heard others complaining about the same thing while in the locker room and saying it never used to be like that before a couple months ago. To each his own, but it’s really not for me. I brought a guest once hoping they’d get a membership with me but said they’ve never experienced those things in a class before, so it was a bust even though I promised not all classes were like that. Minus the loud remix music and instructors yelling over it, the workout itself is great. The instructors do an excellent job working specific muscle groups and really have a passion for what they do. I haven’t signed up for every instructors classes but I can say Aimee has fantastic music, workouts, and is very motivating. I highly recommend her classes, but sign up early because her classes are packed. I used to love Paige’s as well before she left. She was great! Overall it’s a wonderful gym with highly educated staff members and they’ve really thought of everything. If the non stop remixes stopped during studio classes, I’d hands down give it 10 stars if I could. I really do like this facility.

This place is disgusting, if you attend in the AM at opening and the toilets are usually not cleaned from the day before. However I went during peak time (6 PM) and if this was my regular time I would honestly cancel my membership. This place was absolutely packed, like they shouldn't let anyone else join for a membership because it was unusable. The mens locker room was absolutely trashed. One of the toilets in the mens locker room had feces on the toilet seat. Really disgusting facility.

I attended a birthday party for an 8-year-old this weekend, and I was very impressed with Ciara & the rest of the staff and how helpful they were in getting all the kids set up to climb the climbing wall in harnesses, etc. It seemed well organized and clearly explained. The facilities and services for the rest of the party were nice also. I would definitely consider doing a party here!

Amazing gym!!! Mary freshwater is amazing and so are all of the sales people. They are extremely helpful and kind. The front desk staff are always kind and professional and always check you in swiftly. Cleaning staff are always cheerful and sweet and I can’t tell you the amazing conversations and kind people I have met. The members are always kind and friendly as well!! I had my free first training session with Sam, extremely easy going and knowledgeable. Had me trying some new things I never tried before and kill my arms (which is exactly what I wanted thankfully) I would recommend him greatly and many of the other trainers I have met. I got my hair done at the Salon and Stephanie gave me the exact hair color I have been wanting for two years and I feel beautiful and am glad to have made a new friend. The equipment is amazing there is so much to offer with classes as well Thee wish something for absolutely everybody! I can not recommend this gym enough and I don’t have enough great amazing things to say about it. I not only feel like I found a new gym to call a home but amazing friends as well! I don’t know what else to say other than why aren’t you already a member and still reading this? Call Mary

The front desk woman (African American) was extremely rude when asked for a day pass. She did not even greet me when I said Hello. She made me feel very uncomfortable, uneasy and queasy. Thank goodness there was a trash bag close by. This is not how Lifetime Novi should treat their consumers. It ruined my day.

As far as gyms go, this is about as good as it gets. In terms of the Life Time locations locally in Metro Detroit, this is definitely my favorite one. There is something about the atmosphere and overall set-up that is just good. If you have kids, it's almost a no-brainer for the day care and other youth programs. 👍
