Very small bustling fairly upscale restaurant with outstanding food. We started with drinks and bruschetta. The bruschetta was absolutely the best we have ever had. Our table had a sampling of pasta and seafood, and everything was excellent. We had 4 different desserts….incredible! Superb meal and a fun evening. Highly recommend!

The infamous Carrot Cake!??? Weeell.....it WASN'T THAT GREAT!😕 I shared my slice with my mom and she said it's to GOOEY ...Carrot Cake shouldn't be GOOEY, sadly I had to agree!!! The carmel drizzle didn't help at all, coconut was in the icing and everywhere!!! And I was so EXCITED to try it based on the "raves" of my coworker!

This site is my number one site. Of all restaurants I know I love it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to that place. Whenever I want to go to a delicious supper, this restaurant comes first to my head. outstanding and varied food and a large menu.trained crew, and pleasant spirit. Not less important, the charge is good. I sent my friends to this spot with no hesitation.

We had reservation for Valentine's Day. They overbooked and squeezed us in by front door. The waitress did not notice us until after she had already taken care of at least one 5 minute later arrival. Then drinks took too long. There is no inner door so I got hit by winter blast ever time the door opened. It opened a lot so the Grub Hub delivery people could bump into my chair every time (no exaggeration) they came past. My fish was over seasoned but at least it was not overcooked. The one bright side of Covid is that it may significantly improve custtiomer service and attention to detail.

The people who work there are fabulous and the food is made to order. Delicious! They have a dinner for two for 49.95 that comes with a bottle of wine and salad included. Reservations are suggested even during the week. Great bar for those who love eating at tje bar and the patrons are really friendly. Good time all of the time.

Quaint little hometown spot. They have great dinner deals with a full meal! Service is so nice and helpful. I like their eggplant parmesan a lot...and omg their house salad with blue cheese crumbles is something from my dreams! We had a little fumble with the perch being overdone...and they replaced it quickly and then also took it off the bill. Above and beyond our expectations. Also...go for the house wine!!! It's economical and so yummy! Huge variety! Fresh! Hot! Lovely ambiance.

I really enjoyed the dirty martini here. The house Cabernet was just okay, I wouldn't order it again. The eggplant stack was delicious. The whitefish and sausage & peppers were just okay. The carbonara was very delicious. It was definitely a carbonara sauce not buttered noodles. The tiramisu was amazing. As mentioned, it is a tiny place and the staff is working very hard.

Great restaurant with a very cozy atmosphere. Anxious to go back to try more dishes. They also have quite a few gluten free options. It seems a lot of their menu items can be made gluten free and they also have gluten free pasta.

Bolognese was flavorless, veal chop bland and our waitress was unfriendly. We won't return.

The house Cabernet & the Chicken Marsala were both fabulous, as was the sausage & pepper starter. Tiny, but well worth a visit.

Menu has gone a la carte for soup and salad now but entrees (Chicken Scalapini) came with mashed potatoes and a chunk of broccoli. The capers, in my opinion, had brine added to the dish rather than rinsed and so with lemon made the dish taste off; the lemon and the brine did not complement the dish. Staff was very friendly. We’ve eaten here before and tonight was so-so…

This restaurant is insanely cramped! You literally can't get up from your table without bumping into something or someone. The food was decent although my whitefish is not what I was expecting. I should have stuck with a pasta entre, as in the past. The mussel appetizer was not memorable. Other diners at our table enjoyed their perch dinners. The salads are a la carte which makes for a pricier meal than it should be. Bread was fresh and warm - very nice. The water was frequently replenished. Server was friendly.

We ate at Cafe Nini last night, june 16th, with friends and the fettuccini dishes both Bolognese and Carbonara were awful. We didn't say anything because we were guests of another couple that had selected the restaurant and were picking up the check. We didn't want o embarrass them.

Food was great. Space is very small and cramped. Our server seemed to struggle with 4 two tops. Maybe he was new.

Best eggplant stack you'll find anywhere. House salad dressing can't be best, delicious & consistent everytime, as is their home made warm bread. Amazing delicate branzino also. Just - yum!

Great food! Very small place, yet a delightful dining experience. Service was very friendly, if slightly slow at times. I plan to dine there again. Recommended.

Cozy and intimate dining. Excellent food and service. Yes, it’s small. That’s what makes it charming and special.

What happened?! Cafe Nini used to be fantastic, now it’s trash! 15 Minutes waiting for drinks, while sitting next to a space heater, and another 20 minutes for the mussels to come. The butter for the bread was bland and the red sauce for the mussels tasted like water. The waiter came and went, coming back another 20 minutes after that. We quickly paid, left and walked over to Luxe. Never again will I waste my time with that trash. Bye, Cafe Nini. Please leave Grosse Pointe and never come back.

The food and wine were excellent. We ordered the fried Zucchini, some pasta and the grilled branzino. We think they forgot our order since we had to remind them after almost an hour that we hadn’t received our appetizers. They recovered very well after that - rushing our order and comping our entire meal! Quite a class act! If you don’t get it right the first time, it’s all in the recovery after all!!

Good and service can be inconsistent, but when it’s good, it’s really good. Tight space but good vibe. Nice corner GP spot.

The Whitefish with a white sauce had no flavor, rather tasteless, along with a glop of mashed potatoes and green beans (these were fine). On the whole not a dish worth eating on the night I ordered it.

I am a regular at Cafe Nini. I visited about a week ago and was very disappointed with the service and the servers. I had a reservation for 8:30, now I realize that occasionally tables do not clear on time thus your reservation gets pushed back 10-15 minutes. This was not the case. First of all, upon arriving at Cafe Nini my party and I were passed by the wait staff 5 times before I had to initiate a conversation with one of them to tell them we were here for a reservation. I understand they were busy but walk by patrons as though they don't exist is a big no no for me, at least say hi and we will be with you in a minute. After being told our table was not ready we patiently waited. When seats cleared at the bar we sat and ordered a drink. 40 minutes after our table was supposed to be ready and having had no additional contact with wait staff we decided to eat at the bar, obviously not our first choice. If the seats at the bar had not been available we would have left and gone to another establishment. After the meal we asked politely what the typical response is when a group is waiting 40 minutes for a table, generally in my experience the restaurant is overly apologetic, not the case here. We were initially told the manager would come and talk to us, when 15 minutes had passed we asked if the manager was coming. We waited another 10 minutes and then asked the bar tender, we were then told there was no manager as the manager had quit the week prior. So why is the wait staff telling us the manager is coming when there is no manager. The bartender then asked what was wrong and we relayed our evening and the frustration behind the fact that there seemed to be no process or procedure for guests that have to wait for, what in my mind was an extremely unreasonable, amount of time. Generally speaking, in order to please patrons, a restaurant will offer to comp a drink or a dessert. The bartender then got very rude and dismissive. To top off the evening a member of the wait staff came over and asked what the problem was, very rudely. We were then told and I quote "we can't possibly give free drinks or desserts to any group who has to wait for a table, we would go broke". We then had to wait 10 minutes for our check which was thrown on the bar with a here. I am hoping the rudeness and lack of concern over guest experience is something that will go away when a new manager is hired. I can honestly say that almost a week later it still bugs me and it will be a very long time before I head back to Cafe Nini or recommend it to anyone I know. Just for reference I would in the customer service industry and if I treated anyone the way I was treated I would be in serious trouble.

Ordered 5 meals 3 were very good, one just OK, the other, the filet mignon was over cooked and tasteless ($43). Would not honor 3rd party coupons due to Covid restrictions, but still honored their own.

Good food , good atmosphere but lately they are disorganized. Forget to deliver the right stuff. August 2nd placed 3 orders of tiramisue along with other orders for carry out. They forgot to give tiramisue and never gave the credit or refund even after calling them 3 times.

Went to Nini for the lasagna but they were out. How can an Italian restaurant run out of lasagna by 6:00 on a Friday night. Ordered some minastroni and the serve forgot about it. Brought it out after our meal. Two thumbs down.

😠 Came to this place to try for the first time. Walked in and was told it was a 15 minute wait which is understandable for a Friday night. Unfortunately, we had an impatient four year old with us so we decided to order takeout and my fiancé stayed while I took my son home and waited for the food. This...
