I love the museum! Although relatively small they have quality pieces from many different cultures and time periods. During the academic year special exhibitions are hosted as well. The museum shop has lovely items for sale; think unique gifts. There is also a nice cafe. I'm especially impressed with the work the museum is doing to be inclusive, to address conialism and slavery and to make welcoming space for students and the larger community.

Unexpected surprise. Beautiful collection of art from many famous artists to include, Claude Monet and Pablo Picasso. I planned to spend one hour in the museum, but I ended up spending two. I would have stayed at least three if the museum wasn’t closing. The museum included a lot of information on each piece which I enjoyed. Also free :)

The University of Michigan Museum of Art is a fun small free stop within Ann Arbor.   It was wonderful to see the different art with the building. They have art from around the world. I loved the Katana areas. The cafe was a little expensive but decent.    They have a gift shop, but we did not enter.

The building itself is a work of art that also happens to house works of art. Definitely worth a visit and it's free as well.

Nice space with attention to different perspectives that contextualize works and give voice to those that didn’t have one. A small exhibit pulled partly from their permanent collection and used text panels to give multiple points of view from the time. Others were more contemporary from those underrepresented. We also really enjoyed the exhibit in Black Potters of Old Edgefield, SC. The exhibit flowed well with the history woven in. A nice art museum to visit when in Ann Arbor. Admission is free and open late certain days weekly.

Such a beautiful facility, inside and out. We went here for the first time recently. The exhibits are beautiful, the layout of the museum is thoughtful and easy to walk through. The museum is free and the parking was very easy. I highly recommend

Great place to spend some time! Highly recommend! Beautiful Picasso. Some pieces were 4,000 years old, I was told. Truly some interesting pieces and left feeling inspired! Please go check this out! Elevator if you can't go up the stairs! Parking on the street! Was free for me and I'm not from that area. Spent about 1.5 hrs but would have loved to stay longer. Closes late too, love that!

Had a lovely time at the museum. It was free, not too crowded, and had a very nice collection with a solid mix of Antiques and Modern pieces. The layout is designed in a way that gets you to see the entire collection effectively, so you don't really need to worry about getting lost. It's kinda like a maze, but if you just keep going forward you hit the exit. Staff was plentiful, help was never far away, and it was obvious how much they cared about their work.

Small but some good items inc unique Tiffany, international cultural collection, and uncurated items. All floors accessible for dbl stroller. Note the no drinks applies to sippy cups. The great a/c was appreciated on a hot, humid Sunday afternoon.

It is a blessing to have such an expansive and masterfully curated space in which to learn and explore and contribute to the truthful and thorough expression of our lived experiences. That UMMA only asks for donations means that it is accessible and inviting to everyone. I am so grateful to have this gem in our community!

This museum is an amazing masterpiece completed with something for everyone. I personally liked the abstraction color+ politics section of the museum. It is completed with 11 unique paintings which all could either mean nothing to you or everything to you. Some of the paintings are even 3D so they just feel different. Overall a great museum and I would definitely go back again.

Lots to see here. It's free and open to the public. Overall bigger than the MSU art museum, and probably more approachable and more standard(?) art than I've seen at the MSU equivalent. The sculpture made of gun parts and the enormous slave dress stand out in my mind. Closed on Mondays

So many wonderful works. Going back today as we didn't finish going through yesterday. So much amazing talent and works that are hundreds of years old. Everyone should spend a day or two appreciating this beauty.

Great university museum with several exhibitions changing during the year. There's something new to see and do there every season. I'd recommend tours and family activities. Attentive staff, pretty well organized. It's a museum suitable for kids (ample spaces) but there's not so many interactive environments.

Amazing place. Much better than I expected. 1st floor has a vast collection of renaissance masterpieces. Allow at least 2 hours to enjoy, but aim for twice as much time. Highly recommend!

I love this museum, great special exhibitions and many things I enjoy seeing again. Takes an hour or two to walk. Took my 3 and 4 year old and their favorite part was the elevator, but it's free, so no worries

Admission is always free (10$ suggested donation) and this museum is open every day (I believe). A great place to check out and appreciate art of different cultures and they are always adding new exhibits. Would definitely come back to see new exhibits in the future.

Great collection right here in Ann Arbor! I went here because I didn't know that the Natural History Museum was temporarily closed. I was absolutely absorbed by the beauty of all that I saw. I have been back several times and this is now one of my favorite things to do in A2!

Great museum to bring your kids and family. Today is the grand opening of the museum. This museum was moved from older building to new university construction. They have big dinosaurs and some of them are suspended from the roof. They are beautiful and gives one a whole new perspective of Jurassic era. Must visit this place.

For a college museum, the collections they have are quite impressive. The modern art section has great pieces (not “random things in museum = art” stuff). Their asian section is huge and beautiful also.

Much more than you think, initially. Well done, even the building feels like a work of art.

This is a must stop if you are visiting the near by area! Entrance is free, family friendly, great display of art including Monet and many interesting other artists, ancient collections etc. Is very complete, including some fun interactive areas for kids — the area is actually called FUN. Worth your time and great to make memories!

  • 5/5 Kyle M. 1 year ago on Google
Art is great, even includes a few Picasso paintings (although I believe to be remakes like most of the museum) they do not offer audio tours, but if you're in town and want something Free to do. I highly recommend. Plus the staff is great and it's open too anyone. They also offer a volunteer program called FUN where you can help art students as well as locals complete different art.(weekends only)

  • 5/5 Silvia S. 2 years ago on Google
This is a very nice place to visit. It is compact and consists of exhibitions of a great variety of arts from different eras, covering many different parts of the world. One of the ongoing exhibitions, the unsetting histories" is presented exceptionally well, encouraging visitors to examine their position and understanding of slavery and colonialism. It is very appreciated that this art and academic institution is willing to present this reprehensible part of the history and challenge existing preconceptions on this topic, possibly making the world a better, more just place.

  • 5/5 Mike M. 2 years ago on Google
It's free and has a bunch of cool stuff. Why are art museums either $25 or free? Anyways it was a great stop on our trip to Ann arbor. Isaiah loved it. The size was very manageable.

Amazing collection. Creatively curated with new interpretations of art collections of old. Wonderful remembered pieces like Picasso's "Two Girls" and one of Man Ray's bubble pipes. I have been coming here for 40 years and this was my favorite trip yet.

Admission here is free with a $10 recommended donation in the lobby. There's a lot of great pieces on display, and the museum itself is small enough for everything to feel intimate and personal. It's also great seeing local students in the area sketching various works of art.

A wonderful way to spend a day in Ann Arbor and see fine works of art. It is free, although they do ask if you could give a $10 donation if you can. Don't forget while you are there to check in the drawers. That is where I found two Rembrandt sketches to marvel at. Oil paintings, sculptures, pottery, carvings, cultural art and artifacts, the list goes on and on. I know that I didn't see every piece they had on display. Still, it took around two hours to waltz through. There is also a Cafè in the back on the ground floor with nice strong coffee.

It was a nice but cold spring day. Every one was really helpful and nice, always ready to answer some dumb questions from the folks from the big hand. I've already booked my next trip to the beach next July!
