Like to come here in the morning to walk with the dog. It's a pleasant quiet place with both the historical village, a beautiful garden area in the summer and nice wooded trails. The view of the sunrise from the hill is also really nice. Four stars instead of five because I have no idea what the buildings open to the public are like or how it is when there's an event.

Beautiful place with history on display and preserved for future generations to enjoy. Always nice to attend special events, hold weddings or just to visit and relax.

I've been here several times for different events. The most recent event was the Local UAW party! My family had an amazing time. Beautiful gardens, zip lines, bounce homes, food trucks, great staff, clean Porter potatoes, and plenty of parking. I would go to any event hosted here.

Attended my niece's wedding and reception here. It was wonderful! We were able to walk from the precious chapel to the tented garden reception located in the park. Beautiful day.

The Sunday tour that I attended was okay. The docents are certainly not well-versed in the history of the individual buildings. Docents in different buildings will tell you conflicting stories and timelines. I assume the only correct information I received came from those docents that religiously referred to their physical handbooks when I asked a question -- those that spoke from memory were useless. But if you just enjoy looking at old buildings, it's easy to look past that failing and just enjoy the walk around. The open buildings included: Simmons/Hill house (both first and second floor), Farmhand's house (first floor only), Kingsley house (first floor only), Shaw house (first floor only), Newburg school, Newburg church (first floor only), A.J. Geer Store (which has some bottled water and soda for sale, some resale items like antiques for sale, and Greenmead-branded bags for sale), and the DUR station (train station). The Hinbern House is likewise open, but is first floor only and set up as a gift shop. The gift shop is also where you'll purchase your tickets for the tour ($3 per person) and receive your admission sticker that you'll wear so that docents know you're a part of the tour groups. The tour is self-led from one building to another, but the docents do lead you through each building. The Bungalow home was closed the day I attended, but it is regularly open. The following are not included in the tour: the caretaker's house, the north and south barns, the "blue office" (garage), the meeting house (which is available for rent for private events), the old schoolhouse that doesn't have a sign and is currently cordoned off and in disrepair, the "blue house" (the grand house that they hold events in), and the parsonage for the church. No photography is allowed within the buildings. Main parking is off Newburgh Road, just south of 8 Mile Rd, in front of the grand "blue house" (which is tan lol), but there is parking available elsewhere in the park. The vast majority of the buildings are not handicap accessible.

My friends and I greatly enjoyed the beautiful Highland Tea at Alexander Blue House at Greenmead. The food was delicious and they had people serving tea nonstop in highland costume. There was also a Highland Bagpiper and 2 Scottish dancers!

It was wonderful! They had candy bar bingo in a beautiful historic home, a visit from Elvis in the church, crafts in the schoolhouse, a cute general store, street hockey, and Santa and Mrs. Claus were there. Also, the lights were beautiful! Overall, it was a very fun time!

The flea market was great! I have gone 2 years in a row now and I always find something cool. I did buy the creepy clown. He's exceptionally cursed.

I was here for a wedding and it was such an awesome place for one. The staff there were very pleasant and helpful. This whole area looks amazing in Autumn. You can come here and just walk around or have a picnic.

Greenmead historical village is an excellent location for a classic car show, fun for the family, photoshoot, or just a great place to visit to get a little reminder of how things used to be! Since it's ran by the city, it is always well maintained 👍

Went to a wedding murder mystery play in historical home. As you might guess it was a comedy. It was also interactive so people got to get up and move around. They kept it moving so it never was boring. A good time was had by al l.

I was married here at Newburgh Church and the ladies were very helpful! It was a blizzard and one of them was out there shoveling the steps and the walkway for my guests. My only complaint is the director, Chris that we scheduled the wedding with. I called to asked if we could place flowers and photos the night before at rehearsal, so we were not so stressed the day of to decorate. He absolutely refused to let us do so. I could understand if there was an event after ours, but there was not and he was adamant that we could only do it at our paid alloted time...it takes nothing to go the extra mile. We could have paid and gone anywhere else to be married, but we chose to support our local historical park. They are pretty strict here given it is a historical church, so just be conscious of that. But, Chris not letting us put flowers out the night before was pretty ridiculous. Everyone else was fantastic and made our day special!

If you are looking for a very well kept historical chapel to get married in I would recommend greenmeads. They also have workers there that will walk you through on how a typical wedding is performed during your rehearsal which was alot of help for us. Overall it was very clean with friendly staff and all of my guests loved the stained glass and feel of it.

A friend and I went to the festival of lights. We had a lovely time. Enjoyed the home, general store, the Elvis impersonator in the church. Also the gift shop. Everyone was welcoming and knowledgeable. Thank you for such a fun experience.

If you like history, you'll probably like this place. My boyfriend and I found it looking for a nature trail to walk on and then this place kept adding onto itself. The trail is very nice. We probably did only a small portion of it cause it was getting dark. But then we discovered a garden. And then we discovered a small historical village. The place has the vibe of a mini Greenfield Village. We will love coming back during prime hours to explore it once again anf maybe go inside the shop.

At Greenleaf Historical for the 173rd Saint Andrew's Highland Games. I was there with my Gordon Setter club. Very hot today! But the organizers gave us a nice shady spot along with the other scottish dogs. There is a cost to attend the games but we were guests. You can see highland dancing, heavy athletic contests, learn about your scottish ancestry and there is an area with games and crafts devoted to children

We visited to see the holiday lights and some of the activities they had in the historical buildings. It was a lot of fun! Entry was free, but there was a suggested $10 donation.

New old buildings have come to the village recently. I actually picked up free wifi there. The community garden will be going in soon. Not sure when the gift shop or yours of the big house are available. Huge place, lots to do & see even when there is no event. Great place for subjects to paint or draw.

Built in 1892 it's a beautiful church on the grounds. Open for tours and special event and weddings. The stained glass windows are a window in time with names of original congregation members who donated the stained glass. Worth a visit of this historic church and the Alexànder Blue house.

A cool little historic district provided by Livonia. The homes are cool, but many are in need of major repair/painting. Nice idea, but seems to need alot of funding to repair everything. One home has just support beams on the inside, wood bolted through the brick walls, and obvious visible damage everywhere with boarded windows - this structure seems like it's about to fall down any day.

We just had our wedding at Greenmead on the 10th and the weather was amazing! The staff on the day of were present to help my husband and groomsmen with anything that they needed (pinning flowers on the guys jackets) but stayed out of the way at our ceremony, our guests didn't even know they were there! Maureen was always available no matter the question or how many times I wanted to go in and have one more look around. With all the updates to covid guidelines she was ready and willing to help us out. We had a wonderful experience.

10-3-20 - just walked the Virginia Matley nature trail. Very pleasant, well-marked. A hidden gem in Livonia. Park at the western end of the community garden plots. Look south toward the wooded area. There’s a vehicle barrier gate and a sign.

We just married and had our reception here. The church and the Blue house are a perfect venue for a smaller wedding and reception, and the staff is simply wonderful. You could not ask for nicer and more professional people then the folks that work here. We had a wonderful experience, and a highly recommend Greenmead. Maureen and her team are the best!

Quaint little area where you can learn about the town’s history, go for a walk, or enjoy all of the Pokémon GO pokestops! Check it out in the summer when the roadside garden is blooming for a relaxing atmosphere reminiscent of an overgrown vegetable patch you might find in Hobbiton

We hosted a baby shower at the Alexander Blue House on February 4th, and it was fantastic. The staff was professional and courteous from booking through cleanup, and the pricing was very affordable. They have a huge parking lot and will work with you on the layout options. I’d highly recommend them to anyone looking for an event venue.
