There are one floating still jetty and a number of fixed concrete jetties. One has to alight from the boat / vessel & also board the same, where there may be a difference of level of 1 feet or more between the boat / vessel & the ghat, depending on the river tide. Further, if one finds it easy to alight from the boat / vessel, while boarding it may become difficult due to the change of water level in the river during the time that has elapsed. There is lack of lighting facility on the fixed jetties, making it difficult to use them after sunset.

The gateway to Sunderbans, the Gadkhali Ferry Ghat is an important place for the local citizens and tourists alike. To reach the Ferry, you need to get down at the Canning Railway station, hire a bus or something and ride on it for some 30 kilometres or so. The ride is a horrible experience with the broken roads and rash drivers. The Ferry Ghat is just like any other ferry in India, with litter lying all around thanks to insensitive tourists and locals alike. From here you can get on passenger boats to go to Gosaba and other places or if you're a tourist, board your boat and get ready for the Sunderbans trip.

Gate way of Sundarbans. If you want to visit The Sundarbans, this is the main entry point. Authorities must take care of passenger's waiting rooms and toilets. Conditions are very poor. Make sure you do not need to wait for your boat once u reach there.

One of the points of entry to the Sunderban ecosystem, this busy ferry terminal with Canning as its nearest railhead, acts as a lifeline for the locals of Gosaba and innumerable other islands and also for tourists venturing into the national park.

Only way to reach Gosaba is to take a ferry from here. Huge river. After reaching Gosaba you will have a felling that you are now closer to Sundarban

Staircases are small. Some bikers create inconvenience to common passengers with the help of boatmen. Sometime the bikers moving such a way that the common people may be injured.

It's the last populated place before you depart for the Sundarbans. Buy your essential items from here as in the forest area things might not be available.

Travelling by ferry has a number of benefits, making it in many cases a better choice than taking a plane or train. Here are some of the reasons you might consider taking a ferry on your next business trip. Many ferries are pet friendly (although often requesting that they stay in the vehicle or cabin) and it’s a much less distressing way for the pet to travel than the baggage hold of a plane. It also means not having to buy a travel cage for your dog, which can cost a lot more than a car harness. Brittany Ferries also have pet exercise areas onboard their pet friendly ships. Remember to bring a lead and muzzle for your dog as they will be required to wear them outside of your cabin/car.

No vessel available for public transport from gadkhali ferry to Gosaba, you can only opt for motor boat which is always over crowded and you may feel afraid if you are not habituated to it. Local Tempo(jio car) car service is the worst . They pack people like animals and ride for more than 1 hours till canning station

Gadkhali Ferry Ghat, situated in Gadkhali in the eastern region of India, is a destination worth exploring. As a regular commuter, I have found this ferry ghat to be impressive and memorable. The ghat offers an awe-inspiring view of the Bidyadhari river and the surrounding green countryside, making it a popular spot for nature enthusiasts and photographers. The ferry service is efficient and punctual, with well-maintained and spacious boats that provide a comfortable and safe ride even in challenging weather conditions. The friendly staff is always willing to assist passengers with their needs. The bustling marketplace located at the ghat is another attraction that draws visitors. It offers a diverse selection of local goods, from fresh produce to handmade crafts, providing an excellent opportunity to interact with the locals and experience their culture. Overall, I highly recommend Gadkhali Ferry Ghat to anyone seeking a unique and unforgettable travel experience in India.

From here you can get ferry boats (6am-8pm) to some islands of Sundarbans like Gosaba, Bali etc. Most reserved boats receive tourists willing to visit Sundarban from this dock. There are many Garage facilities, as you have to leave your four wh...
