It's a great environment for family and children. The ticket is affordable and the service is helpful. The animals are kept okay so they should be better cared for. The only real complaint is there is no food or drinks stall for miles, there should be more available vendors around especially during this summer when it's hot. Other than that it's a good experience for children.

This is National Zoo, with huge area and collections of animals to display. I was amazed during yesterday visits, after almost 8 years. There are lots of development happened than my last visits. Authorities has some plans to make this zoo as an attractive place and that is working. Peoples are enjoying watching various kind of wild animals. The key attraction was the Children park, initiated with small place and with only two rides, but it seems they had the plan to extend as the time goes on. I would like to invites everyone, come and visit with friends and families, specially childrens and to help animals, make this place moving.

The biggest zoo of our country. It is a popular destination among the people of all ages, specially kids. It covers very large area including lake. The living condition of the animals here is not up to the required standard though. Unfortunately like most of the places in our country, despite having huge potential this place is not up to the mark. With a better care and maintenance this place can become one of the best zoo in Asia Dhaka Zoo: Visited with family. Its huge and it will take lots of time to visit the whole area. There are lots of open spaces and nice atmosphere. The management need to keep the place more clean. Surprises: Dhaka zoo have lots of animal. I seen first time lots of DEER. Advise: Visit Zoo in the morning. Keep water and food with you. Try to leave the place before 5 PM.

One of the recreation zone in Dhaka is very good for children and kids. basically they like to wild animals. not only kids but younger people also like the animals in the zoo. we visited Friday is full of crowd but very gentle and now disturbance from hawkers. i found a elite force like RAB in the area so no disturbing will happen. i also found that in every animal chambers were not so cleaned and shortages of animals as well. kids are not properly happy to see the animals. bad smell is always coming. hope authority will look after it and bring more animals. the zoo is Sunday closed and there's option for taking wheelchair if someone unable to walk just ask to the authority in the entrance office.

Great place to visit with all kids, elderly and friends as well. The animal & birds contents are very good and they are also kept in a well environment. The Dhaka Zoo is a huge thus you have to walk a lot. If you have kids it toddlers suggesting to take strollers. Car parking is available, however they charge a bit high for self driven vehicles as they ensure security. While buying tickets it's best to count the number of tickets you purchased at the ticket counter as they sometimes gives a ticket less intentionally, so you gotta be careful. They also charge money if you use the toilet. Best time to visit is at the morning and in winter time, best to avoid rainy days. The zoo is clean and good for taking photos. Price of entry ticket is 50 taka and parking is 20 taka. I enjoyed a lot. Hope you find my review helpful.

Excellent place for outing. The authorities should consider the space gaps. It's too difficult for the babies and kids to cover all the areas specifically all the animals through walking. Directions towards all the animals should be mentioned at the entrance.

Few day's back I have visited this Zoo. Absolutely this is the largest zoo and I think this is a perfect place to take refreshment. Many species of birds and animals are collected here. But as a National Zoo it's expected to keep more species than now. And see some parts are corrupted and hope authority should repair soon. Among all, I fascinated to see the Macaw parrot also environment of the Lake was so pretty to capture thyself.

The necessity for establishment of Zoological garden and Botanical Gardens in the erstwhile province of East Pakistan was felt at the very inception of Pakistan in the year 1947 as there was no such garden in the province. This was receiving attention of the Government science 1947. In 1947 dire necessity of establishing a state owned zoological garden was felt. A zoo park was being started at High court premises of Dhaka with a limited number of spotted deer, monkeys and few other species of animals. A master plan was approved with a view to establish a zoological garden at Mirpur in 1960. An advisory board was constituted for establishment and proper management of zoo next year. The zoo was opened on June 23, 1974 after necessary construction and procurement of animals from home and abroad. Till then it has been gradually grown into a beautiful and attractive zoological garden exhibiting animals in natural settings using modern method of keeping. In February 05th, 2015 has been changed the name of Dhaka Zoo as Bangladesh National Zoo.

Visiting Zoo was an absolute delight! It's the perfect spot for a family outing where fun meets education. The variety of animals here is astounding, making it an ideal place to introduce kids to the wonders of wildlife. The atmosphere is family-friendly, with ample opportunities to learn about animals in a hands-on and interactive way.

Bangladesh National Zoo (বাংলাদেশ জাতীয় চিড়িয়াখানা) is the largest zoo of Bangladesh. It's area is 186.63 acres. It's one of the best places of roaming inside the Dhaka city. Everyday lot of people visit the zoo. Many kinds of animals can be seen here. One can see the king of animals 'The Lion', and the Royal Bengal Tiger 🐅, National beast of Bangladesh. There are also many kinds of animals. One can also see animal museum (fish aquarium). Authority says are total 138 types of species in that zoo. It is also open in holidays. It is open everyday from morning to evening except Sunday. But if Sunday is holiday, it is still open for every visitors.

It’s good for natural beauty. Kids have their separate place for playing. Animals are well treated but not enough. There is scope of better management and cleanliness. The overall zoo needs to be restructured and modernized under non public management.

It is the national zoo of Bangladesh. It is also the largest zoo in Bangladesh in terms of size. I have visited this zoo four to five times. I was surprised when I visited the zoo recently. Because I was impressed by the zoo environment, cleanliness and variety of animals. I was more surprised when I saw a park and zoo museum inside the zoo. I like sitting by the lake inside the zoo.

Today I went to the National Zoo and had a wonderful time. It is impossible to express in words how much I like it. I saw many wonderful animals there and I was happy to see them. After going there, I saw a lot of people gathering there. Someone has gone there with his family. Someone else will say that he has gone there again with his friends. You can go there very easily with your family or friends if you want. And many can spend a beautiful time. You can go there if you want, considering the social distance in the pandemic of this corona. Everyone is socially fast and Mask is getting in there so you can go there in Mask because of any social worries you have. The entrance fee to the zoo is 50 Taka for the public.Tickets are applicable for children above two years of age.

Bangladesh National zoo is one of the interesting and well reputed zoo where you may enjoy Nature atmosphere and see a variety of animals. This zoo is one of my favorite places to visit and located at Mirpur-1, in Dhaka. I almost every year try to visit this zoo. getting to this zoo is very easily, you can take either by taxi or by bus. the place is so vast and the animals being taken care and raise according to their habitat. although the place is vast you will not easily feel tired because of the surrounding ambience is very nice. You can walk around in this zoo by foot, It will take almost 2/3 hours to visit all around zoo. and children will be very happy at this place especially if they can join the feeding time, they can interact with the animals and feed them. they will never forget this experience. There is also a kids park which certainly will be more exciting and fun. Highly recommend to visit this place with your friends and family.

This is very old zoo in Bangladesh. Experience is average and many designated area are empty. Zoo is not clean as expected level. There should be more map inside the zoo. There is only one map in entry point. Lots of shops established based on zoo but there is no control by authority in terms of price, quality and quantity.

#Madel_Wining_all_Photography This is a popular spot for Bangladeshi families on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. There are lots of open spaces and a nice atmosphere. It is meant to be educational with very common animals in pens like dogs, chickens, guinea pigs and so on. The cages for the lions and tigers are inadequate. I felt particularly sorry for the solitary rhino - it should be part of a breeding problem. The funniest information poster informed us that wild lions are found in Africa, India, France and Australia! The entrance price was reasonable. We recommend the great ice creams on sale! It is informative for local people, less so for Westerners.

I would not say its management is outstanding but I have observed significant improvement compared to my last visit in 2011. The roads are clean, I have seen cleaners active in cleaning the vast grounds as well. The animals are well fed and they seemed to be in good health. The most part of it is wheel chair accessible and there is option for hiring a wheelchair. But would have been great if there were arrangements of cart hiring for the ones who are tired walking over vast grounds that is not much plain.

One of the Very Interesting & refreshing Natural environment in Bangladesh, I recommend to visit with family & kids specially, once in lifetime to view wild animals & their behavior rather than book pictures or videos in YouTube. Exceptionally I was very disappointed for the dirtiness inside the cages, zoo caretakers & management should look after on it seriously. Ticket price: 50 taka. Time: 9am-6pm. Day: 6 days a week, Sunday off. Food court: not hygienic, better to take foods from outside or home cooked. Parking: available outside, but not safe.b

You can visit it as the largest zoo in Bangladesh. But it may disappoint you! Visitors recklessly making the place dirty. First problem is the space is not clean enough. Secondly, the animals and birds are in dense cages that make it barely visible. The natural settings is very charming. The area is vast. There have sufficient restrooms inside the zoo premises and those are quite clean. You can bring foods from outside but don't forget to leave the waste in bin.

The overall service has improved a lot. Entire zoo is a more clean. There r sitting arrangements at random locations. I went there with my baby and his stroller. The pathways were stroller accessible which means wheelchairs can be taken there too. There is a restaurant inside the zoo but they take hell lot of money. There r separate ladies toilet but needs to be cleaned properly though it is clean compared to previous scenario....

The zoo in Dhaka has lots of space for people to walk around. The animals are in cages and some of them are rather small. I was very surprised to read on one of the signs on the lion cage which said that lions are sourced from Africa, France, Serbia and Australia. We certainly don’t have wild lions in Australia but perhaps an Australian zoo sent a lion to this Bangladesh zoo. The sign is probably misleading for visitors to the zoo. We enjoyed ice creams inside the zoo after getting a bit hot walking around. This is a good place to visit but a little bit sad too.

I go there with my family on a weekday there. My mother likes the Chitra deers. There are two semi free cage of Tigers and lions. The tiger was so playful. We enjoyed the move of the tiges. There were many beautiful small and big birds. There were the elephants, hippas, imphala, Nepali cow ( a type pf deer) etc. Elphents were playful. There are also a meuseum there. There are talking birds. I talked with some birds. Its a family place. You can go there with your family. Its almost a safe place. Don't disturb the animals. Don't through anything towards them.

Bangladesh National Zoo is one of the best places to visit within Dhaka city for whom who likes nature. This is full of trees and plants. Many animals, birds and, other species are caged which is the worst part of this zoo. Per my opinion, the animals and birds deserve a better habitat. Though they are entertaining lots of people everyday, the authority could take the opportunity to organize it better and work on building it a better home for the animals, birds and, for other living species.

A great place to pass a day with your family. But as a national zoo it's not up to the mark. Most of the case are blank or only contain one or two animals. Children's play area does have a very few items to play with. Authority should consider these.

The place for family tour, specially attracted for children & senior citizens. Only Sunday is OFF DAY but opens if there is a holiday in the Sunday. 10am to 12pm is the feeding time which is the best moment to watch the animals. 4 to 5 hours required to watch the whole cases; so bringing lunch is the clever decision for you. Available drinking water there from the main line & there is abig mosque for namaz. ❤️❤️❤️

The Bangladesh National Zoo, situated in the Mirpur area of the capital city of Bangladesh, houses over 2,000 animals belonging to 165 different species. It serves as a favored destination for both local residents and tourists seeking a pleasant day out. With approximately 4 million annual visitors, the zoo's tranquil atmosphere offers a welcome respite from the noise and routine of city life. Note: It is closed on Sunday.

The zoo was inaugurated and opened to the public on June 23, 1984. About 3 million visitors visit Dhaka Zoo every year. In the late nineteenth century, the then Nawabs established a private zoo at Shahbag in Dhaka city. After the creation of Pakistan in 1947, there was a lack of a zoo in Bangladesh or then East Pakistan. In the late fifties, a small zoo was set up in front of the Supreme Court of Dhaka in the present Eidgah area covering an area of 4-5 acres. The zoo had a large pond and a balaclava exhibition across a small area on the shore. There were swans, ducks, winter migratory ducks and other birds. Harigila, storks and peacocks were also on display. There were monkeys, Hanuman and deer. Among the reptiles, pythons and crocodiles were the main ones. The first official decision to establish a modern zoo in Dhaka was taken in 1950. A notification was issued by the then Department of Agriculture, Co-operation and Relief to establish a zoo and botanical garden on the outskirts of Dhaka. The proposal was finally announced on December 26 of that year. Then a decade passed without any initiative to establish a zoo. The name of an advisory council was announced on 11 March 1971, citing a notification from the Department of Food and Agriculture. The task of this council was to advise the government on the establishment and management of the proposed zoo and botanical garden. The then Director of the Animal Husbandry Service was appointed as the Member Secretary of this Council. The area of Dhaka Zoo is about 75 hectares. There are two lakes of 13 hectares in the zoo premises. According to the information obtained from the Zoo Information Center, at present there are 2150 animals of 191 species in Dhaka Zoo. The National Zoo is closed every Sunday. However, if Sunday is a public holiday, the zoo is open on that Sunday. In summer (April-October) it is open from 9 am to 6 pm and in winter (November-March) it is open from 8 am to 5 pm. Tickets cost 50 rupees to enter the main gate for anyone over two years. Tickets cost 10 rupees to enter the Joe Museum. No tickets are required for children under two. In addition, for school, college and university students, the admission ticket price is half. In that case you have to show the ID card of your educational institution. Utsav and Nijhum picnic spots will cost Rs 10,000 and Rs 8,000 respectively for the whole day. 40 for bus, truck, minibus type vehicles. Parking for microbus, taxi, jeep, private car, pick up car is 20 rupees. 10 for CNG, tempo, motorcycle etc. 2 rupees parking fee for rickshaws, bicycles etc. Bangladesh National Zoo buses ply from different parts of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. You can also go to the zoo by renting your own transport taxi, CNG or private car. There are several food stalls in front of the zoo where you can eat if you want. But be sure to check the price of the food before eating. So far so good. The environment is very neat and clean. Recently this many things are updated. We went there with our full family. Our 4 years old nephew enjoy a lot. But some places we found animal was not available also some animals are looking weaker. Need to care about this. Otherwise it's a beautiful place for kids.

The National Zoo in Mirpur, Dhaka, is a must-visit for wildlife enthusiasts. The zoo features a diverse collection of huge animals across a spacious area. While it tends to be busy on weekends, the overall experience is enjoyable. However, it's important to note that some cages have safety concerns that need attention. Nonetheless, the National Zoo offers an enriching experience for visitors interested in observing and learning about wildlife.

This zoo is one of the favorite places for children, kids, and people of all ages. There are lots of animals. The main attraction is the Royal Bengal Tiger. There have also been African Lions, Kangaroo, Python, Hippopotamus, Arabian horses, Ziraf, Zebra, and lots of other birds. Natural views were also more stunning. But I think authorities should be more careful about animals' health and safety.

This is a very good place to enjoy your weekend . Children are also like this place. Many Different types of enamel are available. But there is a lac of cleaning ness. Inside this zoo there are small children's parks available for children's entertainment. If anyone wants to enjoy a small family picnic then they can. There is a small food shop available but you need to spend more money on buying food. It is better to buy your food from outside. Overall a good place.

It is always a nice place to visit with kids and minors. Though development works are going on, still much more attention to be paid, specially for the cages of Lions, Tigers and Bears. It becomes difficult for the kids to see and enjoy the animals. The entrance fee per person has suddenly been increase to Taka 50 from Taka 30. Authority may rethink the matter. Above all, it’s a very good place in Bangladesh to visit.

A very good getaway with your family for a day in the heart of Dhaka. The entry fee is 50tk only, which is very reasonable for what it has to offer. Some of the must wathes are Tigers 🐅, Lions 🦁, Rhino🦏, Hippos 🦛, Giraffe 🦒, Zebra 🦓, Deer 🦌, Crocodiles 🦎, Peacock 🦚, Monkey 🐒, Elephant 🐘. Apart from these; there are many species of birds 🕊️, Snakes 🐍, Water Bucks. There are few public toilets inside, they charge 10tk per person. Some restaurants....not recommended to eat there. Price is very steep and food is c**p. There is an animal museum...which charges 10tk per person to visit. 10tk that's very well spent. Be aware of the foul smell coming from some of the cages. Sign of poor management. Overall its worth a visit for your kids.

Bangladesh National Zoo, is a zoo located in the Mirpur section 1 of Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. The zoo contains many native and non-native animals and wild life, and hosts about three million visitors each year. The name of zoo has been changed from 5 February 2015 from Dhaka Zoo to Bangladesh National Zoo. This is a big place, You have to finish this area by walking and it will take almost three hours. It’s situated beside national botanical garden. There is a big lake in the zoo.

  • 3/5 Mominul S. 3 years ago on Google

Located in the Mirpur section of the capital city of Bangladesh, the Bangladesh National Zoo is home to more than 2,000 animals from 165 species and is a popular place to spend the day, both for Bangladeshis and international visitors. Although it is the largest and national zoo in Bangladesh but the environment is not congenial. Most of the case of animals are not take care properly.

Great place to take your kids closer to nature and give them a chance to learn more about so many different spices at a time. You will find many animals and birds there from love bird to elephant. You should have a visit there at least for one time.

Last weekend we went there. The overall experience was beyond expectations. Before that I visited this place 15 years back. Back in that time it was same in size but environment was in poor condition and there was no map or navigation system. But now its all here. It is a perfect place for family hangout. Specially kids will love the place. Suggestions: 1. Go during morning time 10/11AM so that you can see all animals are walking, eating. During afternoon most of the animals rest and sleep. 2. Take water with you. You will be needing it.

It's my first time going to the national zoo with family in nearly 8 years today.I've had plentiful memories relating this place since my boyhood, tried to recount many of those while taking a long walk watching various species of animals meanwhile not skipping the 'Zoo Museum' inside .To be added, the beautiful surroundings of the vast zoo area is beyond description.

One of the oldest zoo and yet full of natural resources such as trees, lakes, and wide varieties of wild animals. Its been well maintained by authority. The worst side is to mention, tourist throwing there wastes everywhere and irritating animals by throwing stones, poking with sticks. I would like to humbly request to all people who are or will be visiting this place, DO NOT LITTER/THROW YOUR WASTE EVERYWHERE EXCEPT DUSBINS and DO NOT DISTURB WILD ANIMALS. We are all humans and we should behave like humans. 🙏

This could be a good place for children. But unhealthy environment and poor management make it unacceptable. There are not enough security guards. The prices of food are high and the quality is not good enough. There are some hawkers too! It seems most of the meat-eaters are just in a form of malnutrition. Many of the cases are empty. The glasses of snakes cases are really too bad to see. They could upgrade the system with modern glasses.

Though worth visiting a day long trip with children, the place is dirty. This is not only the irresponsibility of the management but also the carelessness and stupidity of the visitors. * Sunday is closed. * Better to take food and drinks from home. * 2 years above, all need the same ticket, price is Tk. 50

Spread over a large area of 186 acres, Bangladesh National Zoo is a large zoo in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Previously known as Dhaka Zoo, this place is home to more than 2000 animals. These include around 58 species of mammals, 91 species of birds, 13 species of reptiles, and 28 species of fish. It is the best place to see numerous wild animals including elephants, cheetahs, rhinos, zebras, bears, lions, deer, baboons, and Bengal tigers. You can also enjoy an elephant ride or a horse ride at the zoo. The zoo has two lakes included in it which is home to many migratory water birds in winter. Since the zoo spans across a vast land, it takes around two hours to cover the entire place. Carry lunch along with you and enjoy a day-out with family at this place over a weekend.

The Bangladesh National Zoo, offers a unique experience for visitors of all ages. This sprawling zoo provides a glimpse into the diverse wildlife of Bangladesh and beyond. One of the zoo's standout features is its impressive variety of animals, from majestic Bengal tigers and graceful giraffes to colorful parrots and exotic reptiles. The enclosures are spacious and well-maintained, providing a reasonably comfortable environment for the animals. Despite some areas needing improvement, the Bangladesh National Zoo remains a valuable resource for wildlife enthusiasts and families looking for an affordable and accessible way to connect with nature. With continued investment and attention to animal welfare and visitor amenities, it has the potential to become an even more attractive destination for both locals and tourists.

Many people have a misconception about this place being sketchy and all. But speaking from my experience, the place got drastically renovated after covid in 2020. The whole area is pretty big so a short day trip can be done easily as it is inside dhaka. Talking about safety and security, like I’ve mentioned the place got renovated including their security concerns. There were zoo official guards including Ansars patrolling the place time to time. Ill give a 3 out of 5 as there were litters lying around in some places. But then again we have to keep that in mind that its a public place so yeah….

It's located in Mirpur, Dhaka, and is home to a diverse range of animals, including elephants, lions, tigers, giraffes, and various bird species. The zoo aims to provide both entertainment and education to visitors about wildlife conservation. The Dhaka Zoo has faced some challenges regarding the quality of facilities, animal welfare, and maintenance in the past. Efforts have been made to improve conditions, but there have been concerns raised about animal enclosures, cleanliness, and overall upkeep.
