This location is pretty good. Been coming here for over 1.5 decade. So Aarong is a bengali ethnic fashion store. This location is multi storey so it’s pretty spacious but not like the other stores. Women choices are more prominent. Lot’s of helpful staffs and counters so you can check out pretty quickly. Has no parking space which is a huge problem. They should seriously do something about it as it’s very inconvenient. Their Grassroots Cafe serve mediocre food. Ideal for just a quick bite.

It's a huge Aarong store in this area. Very good collection of wearing apparels for men women and children, hometextiles, other utensils, toys etc. Well attended by salespersons in an orderly way. Space is reasonably okay.

Aarong (Bengali: আড়ং, lit. 'Village Fair') is a chain of Bangladeshi department stores specializing in Bengali ethnic wear and handicrafts. It is owned by the non-profit development agency BRAC, and employs thousands of rural artisans across the country. It currently operates twenty-one outlets in nine Bangladeshi metropolitan cities. The organization was established in 1978. Aarong operates production units in rural and semi-urban areas as a part of its social enterprise model and provides the market linkage through its own retail outlets. Allegations Directorate of National Consumers Rights Protection (DNCRP) fined Tk4.5 lakh to Uttara outlet of Aarong and closed it for a day for selling same products in double price within a gap of five days. Following on a client's complaint that Aarong was selling a panjabi after nearly doubling its price, DNCRP officials visited the chain's flagship store on Jashimuddin Avenue at Uttara on 31 May 2019 and fined them after finding the allegation to be true. Monjur Mohammad Shahriar, deputy director of Directorate of National Consumers Rights Protection (DNCRP) led the drive but he was transferred.

Traditional flock items blend with a touch modern innovation! Products are displayed in a very unique style that keeps you captivated for a very long time! Things are sagregated in different corners and different floors! It's one of the best place to get all sorts of great handicraft products from different parts of the country! They have lots of brunches too!

They need to recruit fashion designer because there is no new dress and the design is a 10 years old. They could not provide me the right size as they ran out of inventory, I mean seriously this is not Eid time. When you enter the shop ware nice clothes in order to get the attention of the salesperson attention. I was sweaty and muddy because of the weather and non of the salesperson came to help me, however the shop was almost empty. Lastly, some genius mind came up with the idea of providing money recipe via SMS to save paper and to save environment but they provide large paper bag not jute bag. Nice try saving environment. Not reconditioning but people will still go there and they will run there empire for a long long time.

This Aarong outlet has been up and running for more than a decade but not much changes has been made. Same old 4 storey congested shopping outlets. The collection is not adequate and not all the sizes are available for clothes.

Great store. There are separate floors for each section. Easy to find desired items. Multiple medium sized trial rooms. Their home decoration collection is the best part in my opinion. But the items are waaaayy overpriced. The collection and convenience compensates a bit. My favourite clothing item from them are their t-shirts and polo shirts. They are somewhat reasonably priced, have good quality and stunning, creative designs. So I highly recommend checking this place out and planning out purchases to get better deals. The main deal breaker of this location is the inadequate parking space.

  • 3/5 Fariha T. 2 years ago on Google
3.5 out of 5 Items in the store are a bit expensive.. But items could be unique in design or cut or in material. But still most of the time, articles are overpriced. Things get stocked out pretty quick. Often you won't find the right fit because of stock out problem. Store representatives are a bit rude/moody. Not that much friendly. Parking sucks.

This ethical brand began in 1978 as a humble means to empower rural artisans to rise above poverty. Today, with 25 retail stores across Bangladesh and over 100 fashion and lifestyle product lines, Aarong supports 65,000 artisans with fair terms of trade. Revolutionising the retail industry with high standards for quality and artistry, this iconic brand blends the traditional with the contemporary in ways that never cease to win consumer appeal both at home and abroad. In 1976, when BRAC– the world’s largest development organisation – engaged a small number of rural women to produce crafts, their only buyers were a few scattered retailers in Dhaka. Weeks, even months would pass between supply and payment, until BRAC intervened and established Aarong to pay the rural women for their goods on time. Over the past four decades, Aarong has carved out a unique market segment for handicrafts, reviving Bangladesh’s rich heritage and impacting the lives of more than 325,000 people through 650 small entrepreneurs and the Ayesha Abed Foundation. The foundation acts as Aarong’s production hub, where artisans find employment and access to many well-being programmes such as financial subsidies for health expenditures, access to micro-credit and saving instruments, legal aid, day care for working mothers, awareness on rights and access to government benefits, and gratuity payments upon retirement. From clay pots to diamond jewellery, and silk and cotton fabrics to brass and leather merchandise, Aarong’s vast range of innovative products, backed by a robust supply chain and distribution network, makes Aarong truly a household brand in Bangladesh. Its growing presence outside of Bangladesh – through fair-trade networks and the online shop– continues to broaden the market for Bangladeshi crafts globally, creating more opportunities for artisans to protect their age-old art and livelihoods.

you will find many kinds of rural and prestigious goods here, also you will get a chance to discover the real tradition of Bangla. Unfortunately the service they provide now is getting poor.

This of quite a good branch with all facilities but few things should renovate like their furniture and stuffs. Parking issue is very troublemaker in this branch.

Their collection of clothing, jewellery, bags are good. Shoe collection, handmade items collection, and collection of jute/handmade bags can be improved. The collection of crockery items are really nice. They have a quite a variety of crockery here. You will also find Aarong Earth items here. This outlet has a Grassroots Cafe on the top floor. Behaviour of salespeople and other employees are nice.
