At present, approximately 39,496 students are enrolled in this university and are taught by almost 1999 teachers. The University of Dhaka is dedicated to the advancement of learning and is committed to promoting research in all fields of knowledge. New research projects are undertaken every year. Six half-yearly English journals and one ten-monthly Bengali journal are published by six faculties regularly. Ten more research journals are published by individual departments.

They have 23 residence halls for the students. Educational environment is good there. For centuries most of the major decisions of the country come from this university.

Every time I visit this place, I feel nostalgic. So many memories with friends and the snacks, just love it. This time I went after two years and had Doi Fuchka. It was evening and crowded as usual. Recommended to visit the University which was once known as the Oxford of the East. Established in 1921, it is still in the highest demand to study in Bangladesh.

Dhaka University is a prestigious institution known for its rich academic history and contributions to higher education in Bangladesh. It stands as a symbol of knowledge and enlightenment. The sprawling campus, diverse student body, and esteemed faculty make it a hub of intellectual growth. However, like any institution, it has its challenges. Overall, Dhaka University remains a place where students can pursue academic excellence and experience the vibrant culture of Bangladesh's capital city.

University of Dhaka, the most prestigious university in Bangladesh, also known as Oxford of the East. It's called so because once it would follow University of the Oxford starting from residence system to teaching regulations. Also, it's said that it's the only university in the world that gave birth to a country namely Bangladesh because of its crucial role in the liberation war of Bangladesh back in 1971 with Pakistan. Located at heart of Dhaka city, as well as Bangladesh, it still holds the award of the best university in Bangladesh though the quality is demeaning day by day. However, there are so many things to consider while ranking it. Appalling student politics and violence are mainly responsible for the deterioration of the quality of the prestigious university. Students can hardly sleep in its dorms let alone study peacefully. Politics is eating up this university the way spider babies eat up their mother. Furthermore, its campus is shrinking having some busy roads across the campus. So it's hard to find educational environment and places on the campus. I hope both the university authority and Bangladesh government will immediately take measures to save this historical and renowned university.

Nice and beautiful places. If you don't roam around Dhaka city and just visit the university complex, it'll give you more satisfaction and pleasure. Students there are ready to chat about anything. Cheap meals available nearby. Various halls are present separating various hostels and departments. Lots of greenery there. Various monuments and sculptures depict the freedom fighters during the 1971 war and before. Century old mosque available in the campus, very peaceful to spend some time.

Dhaka University is the first government university of Bangladesh. which was established in 1921. Undoubtedly, Dhaka University is the best university in Bangladesh. However, although this university has improved a lot over time, Dhaka University of Bangladesh is very low in the world ranking list. Which is very sad for the Bengali nation. If the universities were not political-centered, but learning and research were the motto, then it might have been a reason for the development of the nation.

Rainy night at Dhaka University Campus. Whare nature downed here for one night with rain. If you come here on a rainy night you will lose yourself to see the natural beauty of this campus. But it's a matter of regret that authorities making a boundary everywhere, it will destroy the natural beauty of this campus. After making this boundary your eyes rang will be closed.

The University of Dhaka is a public research university located in Shahbag, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is the oldest university in Bangladesh and one of the most prestigious universities in Asia. The university is known for the patronisation of one of most important physics discoveries of all time, when Satyendra Nath Bose FRS provided the foundation for Bose-Einstein statistics and the theory of Bose-Einstein condensate at Curzon Hall. The university was founded in 1921 under the Dacca University Act 1920 of the Indian Legislative Council. Nawab Bahadur Sir Khwaja Salimullah, who pioneered the university in Dhaka, donated 600 acres of land from his estate for this purpose. It is modeled after British Universities. Before Dhaka University was established, near its grounds were the former buildings of Dhaka College affiliated to the University of Calcutta. In 1873 the college was relocated to Bahadur Shah Park. Later it shifted to Curzon Hall, which would become the first institute of the university. The establishment of the university was compensation for the annulment of the 1905 Partition of Bengal. The partition had established the Muslim majority Eastern Bengal and Assam as a separate province, with Dhaka as its capital. All India Muslim League, newly formed in Dhaka, wholeheartedly supported the move.

While serving as the highest echelon of academic excellence, the University also functions as a central premise for free thought and democratic practices that leads the nation to its march towards progress. The University of Dhaka is increasingly striving to combine the pursuit of knowledge and truth with the values and needs of an evolving society. It is noteworthy that the Governor of Bengal and the Chancellor of the University of Dacca, Lord Lytton in his speech at the first Convocation of the University on 22 February, 1923 said “....this University is Dacca’s greatest possession, and will do more than anything else to increase and spread the fame of Dacca beyond the limits of Bengal or even of India itself”.Presently the University enrolls more than 5,800 students, on merit basis, in the first year Honours Programme in different Departments of the Faculties and the Institutes. Besides conducting teaching courses in the 4- year Bachelor and 1-year Masters Programmes, the University also trains up a large number of researchers in different disciplines. As there are plans for further expansion of facilities, plans for new avenues and opportunities, the course curricula are updated and new research projects are undertaken every year. As the pioneer and the largest seat of learning in the country, the University of Dhaka has taken the task to foster the transformation processes of the individual students and the country as a whole through its educational and research facilities keeping up with the demands of the day. The University of Dhaka is at the moment one of the leading institutions of higher education in Asia. The University of Dhaka is well prepared to meet the challenges of the future days with its spirit of freedom, justice and truth as a foundation concomitant to the objectives envisaged by the founding fathers. The open-minded character of the University of Dhaka embodying the features of beauty and historical origins can be seen as one enters the campus.
