Kamalapur Railway Station is the central railway station in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is the largest station in the country and the most important terminal for transportation between Dhaka and the rest of Bangladesh. It is also one of the most modern and striking buildings in Dhaka, designed by Berger Consulting. The design process started under the direction of Daniel Dunham, followed by Robert Boughey. It was opened on 1 May 1968. There was only one railway station in Fulbaria. After the partition of Bengal, Dhaka became an important city and Kamalapur was selected for extension. Prior to the station being constructed, the land was a paddy field. At the beginning of the 1960s, the station was built, and at that time it was one of the most important establishments in East Pakistan. At the time, it was one of the few beautiful structures in Dhaka. Architectural valueEdit Kamalapur Railway Station project was undertaken by the governor of East Pakistan to replace the aging Fulbaria station and provide a more grand and symbolic gateway to the capital. Berger Consultants from New Jersey had opened a branch office in Dhaka in 1960 and won the contract to design the station. Daniel Dunham headed the local office with an architecture degree from Harvard and Post-graduate degree from School of Tropical Architecture, London. His thesis project at Harvard was large span thin-shell concrete design and he explored many options to span the vast station roof. Since the governor promoted Mogul motif pointed arch for all government projects, it required exploring multiple options and an umbrella-shaped repetitive form that looked like a pointed arch when seen from frontal view was one of the options explored during preliminary stages. When Robert Boughey took over the helm of the Dhaka office after Daniel Dunham joined the newly formed Architecture Department at EPUET, he went back to the umbrella scheme and won approval to proceed with design and preparation of construction documents. The vaulted domes were cast-in-place concrete with wood-framed formwork that could be reused. The high roof element provided a grand scale, protection from rain, sun and sheltered the two-story office block below to become a fitting gateway to Dhaka. The station contains 21 ticket counters, and local tickers can be bought from 20 ticket counters. Tickets are available to go to India. There are one first-class and one second-class waiting rooms. The station has eight platforms and there are two restaurants in front of the ticket counters and fast food shops near the ticket counters. Only bolaka bus Direct go there from sydabad. And turag, raida, put Down Komola pur's passenger infront of komolapur Stadium.. Frome the road from the left direct go to komolapun so rikshaw could be used there.

Kamalapur railway station can be called the heart of Bangladesh Railway. From here, there is rail communication with all the places in Bangladesh that have railway system. There are total 7 flat forms from where intercity, commuter, mail trains leave for different places in Bangladesh. It is also connected by rail to Kolkata from Bangladesh. Every day now many passengers are afraid.

Dhaka railway station, one of the busiest stations in Bangladesh. The overall stations environment is not so good. Everyday lots of trains pass through this station, and comment every corner in Bangladesh. There are lots of local trains. And also express trains. Most of them are not so good. The engine of local trains have old models, like 2000 or 90s or before. The compartments of local trains are average. Though express trains have some good compartments. But the washroom condition is so bad and disappoints you. You can use most of the trains facilities that other countries have.

Komolapur Railway Station is one of the largest rail way stations in Bangladesh. Everyday thousands of people use this station to come and leave Dhaka. Nowadays the platforms and outside are net and clean but it should be net and clean always and the authority should ensure passengers satisfaction so that everyone can easily use this stations service.

The station is notably crowded, with an abundance of people, making it a bustling environment. Despite the crowds, the silver lining is that the trains consistently depart on time, ensuring a punctual and reliable travel experience. Improved crowd management could enhance the overall station experience for passengers.

Dhaka's largest and busiest rail station is also the main transportation hub for all of Bangladesh, providing access to travel throughout the country. However, the station's basic amenities are limited. Seating arrangements inside the establishment are sparse, and while there are some restaurants available, they offer a limited variety of food. The waiting room is often overcrowded, and although public toilets are available, there is a fee to use them.

This is the principal, large & effective railway station in Bangladeshi located in Dhaka. All type of railway service you will get here. This place is always crowded because all trains depart from here. If you want to buy a ticket, you have to stand in line here (which is a matter of time) or you can buy your ticket from “Bangladesh Railway” website (which is very simple & understandable).

I go to Komolapur Railway Station as visitor. It was my childhood curiosity to see train in station area. So I fulfill my curiosity recently. I visit the biggest railway station in Bangladesh, Komolapur Railway Station, Dhaka. My experience is so amazing. The place is beautiful but too much noise and overcrowded people make the station too much busy annoyed.

It is the biggest railway junction in Bangladesh, it is very beautiful to see, there are many facilities, there is a fan in all the sitting places, which helps the passengers to relax a lot. Last night we traveled by Panchagarh express train from Dhaka to Dinajpur, been there many times before and toured the whole area, best advantage is that it has potable water.💜

Kamalapur Railway Station is a hub of energy and movement.it can get a bit lively, but that's part of the charm. Expect a mix of hustle, friendly faces, and a ticket to some exciting destinations. It's not just a station; it's a starting point for stories on the tracks. All aboard for a ride that's as vibrant as the station itself! 🚂

I recently had the opportunity to travel through Komolapur Railway Station, and I must say it exceeded my expectations in terms of convenience, functionality, and overall experience. As a frequent traveler, I value efficiency and comfort, and Komolapur Railway Station provided both in abundance. First and foremost, the location of the station is incredibly advantageous. Situated in the heart of Komolapur, it offers easy access to various transportation modes, including buses, taxis, and auto-rickshaws. This makes it convenient for both local commuters and those arriving from other cities. The station is well-connected to major roads, allowing for seamless entry and exit. Upon arriving at the station, I was impressed by the modern and well-maintained infrastructure. The architecture is aesthetically pleasing, blending modern elements with a touch of local cultural influences. The station premises are clean, and there are ample seating areas for passengers. The station staff members were courteous and readily available to assist with any inquiries, further enhancing the overall experience. Navigating the station was effortless due to clear signage and information boards. The platforms were easily accessible through well-maintained escalators and elevators, making it convenient for passengers with heavy luggage or those with mobility challenges. The waiting areas were spacious and well-ventilated, offering a comfortable environment while waiting for trains. One aspect that truly stood out for me was the availability of various amenities. Komolapur Railway Station houses a wide range of facilities to cater to the needs of travelers. Clean and hygienic restrooms were easily accessible, and there were numerous shops and stalls selling snacks, beverages, and travel essentials. I found this particularly useful during longer layovers, as I could easily grab a quick bite or shop for necessities without having to leave the station premises. Furthermore, the security measures at Komolapur Railway Station were commendable. There was a visible presence of security personnel, which instilled a sense of safety and peace of mind. CCTV cameras were strategically placed throughout the station, ensuring a secure environment for all passengers. In terms of train services, I found Komolapur Railway Station to be well-connected to various destinations. The train schedules were adhered to diligently, and I encountered no delays during my visit. The information boards displayed accurate arrival and departure times, allowing for efficient planning and smooth travel. In conclusion, my experience at Komolapur Railway Station was nothing short of exceptional. The station's convenient location, modern infrastructure, helpful staff, wide range of amenities, and efficient train services all contributed to a pleasant and hassle-free journey. Whether you're a local commuter or a traveler passing through Komolapur, I highly recommend this station as a reliable and enjoyable transportation hub.

Capital's most important and prominent rail station. This hub can be used to reach any part of the country which has existing rail network. Being country's signature landmark it has tons of things to be looked after. Hope management will work on this to make it possible to step up into international standard.

This is the biggest and busiest rail station of our country. You can get all the trains towards anywhere you want. Its like that in every ten minutes a train departure and reached at the station. This is also a beautiful place though some miscrients are alwats looking for pick pocketing. So jave to be careful while walking on that busiest area.

Kamalapur Railway Station formally known as Dhaka Railway Station, Serving as the entrance to the nation's capital, it is the biggest station and busiest transportation hub in the nation. The first day of operation was May 1, 1968.It was built during the Pakistan period but its railway line was built during the British Indian period. After the creation of Pakistan, another railway station was constructed at Kamalapur as the old railway station in Dhaka was inadequate and a part of the existing railway line was moved from the previous position. Built in 1968, this railway station was witness to the massacre that took place during the liberation war in 1971.

The central station of our capital city. Its underwhelming to see to be very honest. The floors are dirty, the space is very cramped and crowded. There are 7 platforms and there is train routes to every corner of our country. As a station it should be cleaner and look better to be honest. It looks very 3rd world like for a station at the heart of our country.

The place Kamalapur isn’t clean enough, but one good side is there is less street hawkers, Be aware from nipper. If you are an foreigner then purchase the ticket at least 4/5 days ago, otherwise if you think that you’ll get tickets on Railways station then you’re wrong. You can’t get any tickets. So be careful. Thank you

Kamalapur Railway Station (officially Dhaka Railway Station) is the central railway station in Dhaka, capital of Bangladesh. It is the largest station and the busiest infrastructure for transportation in the country that acts as a gateway of the country's capital. It was opened on 1 May 1968. It was built during the Pakistan period but its railway line was built during the British Indian period. After the creation of Pakistan, another railway station was constructed at Kamalapur as the old railway station in Dhaka was inadequate and a part of the existing railway line was moved from the previous position. Built in 1968, this railway station was witness to the massacre that took place during the liberation war in 1971. After the liberation, the country's first inland container depot was established here. After that several proposals and decisions were made to relocate and demolish the station building but due to objections from the authorities and dignitaries it was not done. A multimodal transport hub around the station is currently under construction which is expected to be completed by 2030. This station is plagued with various issues. Among them are homeless people, height of platforms, insecurity, criminal activities, reluctance of passengers to use foot overbridges, problem of railway porters and unavailability of information. This central railway station of the country has 8 platforms. Apart from this, there are various facilities including hospital, mosque and police station.

Main railway station in Dhaka. Nice architecture. Train available for all major cities. Reservation can be done early and also international maitree express. Staff are well behaved and a help desk is also available. You need to be registered with Bangladesh railway to book tickets, even at the counter. They say it's for resisting black ticketing. And that's true actually. I went to Sreemangal from there. General non AC sitting is 240 BDT per person. They can give you a window seat if you ask them!
