A true money grubber! My mother visited him for suspected varicose veins (ulcer in lower left leg) treatment and the experience was as follows, Day 1: Appointment was at 9am, doctor arrived at 9.45am, did not bother looking at the troubled area, prescribed ‘Doppler Test’ right away for both legs, to be done at Suraksha Diagnostics - Salt Lake, same place where he practices. Total time with the doctor for this appointment was 5-7 minutes. [Fees Rs1000] Day 2: Appointment was at 10am, doctor arrived at 10.20am. Took a careless glance at the ‘Doppler Test’ (worth Rs 8800) results and declared them incorrect & asked to be redone from another location outside Suraksha. When questioned what was wrong, denied a response and suggested a laser surgery for both legs (worth Rs 1.2 lacs for each leg). All of this without taking any diagnostic assessment of manually assessing the ailment. Again, on humbly requesting to validate the ask for surgery Dr. Purnendu blatantly started mocking the food habits of my parents and the expenses that he believes they generally incur towards them. Just to substantiate how his sweeping recommendation for a surgery is appropriate. Friends, I am from the era where doctors were heavily dependent on their medical knowledge & intuitive skills to diagnose and cure an ailment. But today it is difficult to find someone like that, more so where we have vultures like Purnendu diminishing the nobility of the profession.

An epitome of arrogance! As a person who has interacted with multiple medical professionals over the years primarily in US, Canada and India, I must say that our recent encounter with Purnendu Bhowmik (I prefer to not call him a Dr.) was nothing short of a harrowing nightmare. I can confidently say that this doctor embodies the pinnacle of arrogance and complete lack of compassion in the medical field. From the very moment my parents stepped into their office, we had sensed an atmosphere of disorganization and neglect. The appointment was already 45 mins late, setting the tone for the appalling experience that was about to unfold. Purnendu Bhowmik’s communication skills were nothing short of abysmal. He exhibited a complete lack of empathy, dismissing our concerns in a insulting and dismissive way. It was evident that he had no interest in understanding my mother’s symptoms or medical history, leaving my old parents feeling unheard and invalidated. How can someone who claims to be a medical professional be so completely unempathetic towards his patients? To add insult to injury, Purnendu prescribed test two times without even seeing the earlier tests properly or taking the time to answer our questions. He claimed that he did not prescribe them to do the test at Suraksha (where he practices), and thus he again asked them to the test but not mentioning where to do it from. So basically my parent would need to keep on doing the test again and again paying Rs. 8800 each time? It is about how he treated them. Why not tell where to get the test done from? The fact that he did not say that begs the question on what ulterior motive he had. It felt as though Purnendu was running a pharmaceutical/Test screening vending machine rather than providing personalized care to a patient in need. First you must be a good human being and then a doctor, unfortunately he is neither. In conclusion, Purnendu is an exemplar of everything a good and compassionate medical professional should NOT BE. The experience my parents had with him was a distressing ordeal that left them scarred and disappointed. I urge anyone seeking quality medical care to steer clear of this cunning doctor and seek out a reputable, knowledgeable, and caring healthcare provider who will prioritize your well-being above all else. Fortunately for us he was not our final opinion and currently my mother is in good hands where she is being treated with respect and care that any human deserves. I regret the fact that I recommended my parents to visit Purnendu based on reviews!

I visited to Dr Purnendu Bhowmik in July, 2021 regarding my Phimosis treatment and he opted for that in stapler surgery. Since then I am completely fit and fine. He is a fantastic doctor as well as very good human being. Very humble in nature and we'll knowledge. For any kind of surgery purpose I always prefer him.

We attended the Emergency first for removal of item from the foot and we have been referred to Dr Purnendu Bhowmik next day. We consulted him and he brought out the small piece of glass that went inside the right foot. While doing so, he took great care and ensured that no other items left inside. Moreover, he suggested for follow up after 5 days which I went through and he again took the pain to check the portion very carefully and came to conclusion that nothing remained inside. Very minimal dosage of medicine has been given and I am very much satisfied with his treatment and humbleness.

I have undergone laser surgery for piles and fissure on March 2022. Frankly speaking no one has asked me to write a review but i decided to write so that people will understand how I am feeling after 7months. I have severe piles from last 6 years. I tried multiple method like homeopathy, ayurvedic, unani, exercise but nothing gave me relief. Then in January 2022 it led to fissure with acute bleeding and severe pain. No one understood my pain but Dr Purnendu Bhowmik did. We had only 5 mins of discussion – not sure how I got the spark that he will give me relief. His one line I still remember – “You have suffered a lot, now its on me. I will cure you in 2 days.” – Just to let you know that – at least for female – I have taken 1 day hospitalization to avail Mediclaim facility – I was given channel for providing pain relief medicine, antibiotics, have taken spinal anaesthesia, then the operation for maximum 9-10 minutes, then after gaining the consciousness the nurse will try their best for the urinal but if not then they will use catheter which may be painful( patient to patient varies). After the urinal you will still have a slight pain for 5-6 hours due to the gauge with betadine liquid that has been inserted in your operated area which will be removed next day. Once that is removed you will not understand that you have gone for any surgery. Yes, it’s like that only. But one thing I must say, You have to take care of yourself. No more spicy non veg food for next 2 months for safer side. Everyone will say eat everything nothing will happen, but its your body you have to take care. Have sitz bath with lukewarm water with betadine liquid in the affected area for thrice a day for 1month. Use commode only not Indian style washroom. No need to have physical relationship for 2months, its better for yourself to take rest. Regarding IRIS hospital where I was operated, the nurses are helpful, but you have to check time to time the saline bottle so that if that bottle is coming to an end, call the nurse via bell. Telling you because once I slept and the saline bottle got empty which incurred some bubbles in my wrist. Otherwise other facilities are fine. Hope you will find a proper solution for your problem under Dr. Purnendu Bhowmik. Thanks doctor and your team for your support.

I went for consultation for my mother, who was suffering from acute fissure problem. Dr. Purnendu Bhowmik suggested for laser surgery and that was done on 24/08/22 at Irish hospital. As of now the best doctor I have met. He treated my father's piles with utmost care. He was suffering with multiple piles for more than 15 years. On the first appointment, sir has explained the process in the simplest possible way, given the date laser operation after 3 days. On the day of operation, my father got admitted early in the morning (around 10 AM), sir completed the operation within 3 PM (30 odd minutes of OT time) and discharged on the same day. Last but not the least, not only sir, also his team (Mr Sukanta Chakraborty and others) are extremely co-operative. We are very happy with the overall process. Dr. Purnendu is very experienced and one of the best laparoscopic surgeon in Kolkata as on date. I think , He has done one of his best laser operation in my case. I was suffering from a complex fistula since last one year . Post MRI it is revealed that it has 5 external openings and 2 inside branches and all the tracts were about 3-5 cm in length. He has done a very complex and successful laser operation and address all tracts and branches in a single seating...I personally believe that Dr. Purnendu babu has done a great work.. 0 star. Fraud doctor. Will charge unnecessary huge amount from you and yet doesn't know his job well. A tiny operation became a nightmare for our family due to wrong treatment and faulty stitch. Think before visiting and wasting your time and money.
