On the Shakespeare Sarani from Sahara Sadan to Cama St on the right hand this place situated , this place is very nice and beautifully maintained , Aurobindo hall is there for any exhibition and mediation place and also book store of Aurobindo ashram , very nice place .

Absolutely beautiful. We were here early morning, beautiful beautiful beautiful. So zen, calm, right at the heart of the city and yet so peaceful. The whole place is bound to lift up your spirits and make you feel wonderful.

A historical place in Kolkata. This is the birth place of Sri Aurobindo Ghosh. Well maintained and open to all for free. Those who have emotion on history should visit this place. One library runs by the authority here based on Sri Aurobindo and Sreema. There is good arrangement for meditation and some handicraft outlets here.

Birthplace of the famous revolutionary turned sage,this is a memorial shrine with a tranquil atmosphere.Located close to Theatre Road Little Russel Street Xing it is also a cultural center with meditation and library facilities besides selling unique and economical herbal products.

Peaceful Sacred place. Sri Aurobindo Bhavan, 8 Shakespeare Sarani, the place where Sri Aurobindo was born, was renovated and the sacred relics of Sri Aurobindo were enshrined here on 16th February, 1973.The memorial shrine has since become a place of pilgrimage. The Bhavan was established with the primary objectives of disseminating the teachings of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother among the members of the public so as to help them to raise their mental and moral outlook and to solve their cultural and spiritual problems in the light of such teachings.

Edit: First review written on: 11/07/2018, 02:00 pm A serene place. Meditate or just spend some time in quietness with yourself. The place remains open from 11 am to 5 pm. The upper floor opens at 4 pm. The public meditation timings are Thursday and Sunday 7 pm. The premises hold a bookstore and a micro and small scale industry store with reasonably priced incense sticks spices biscuits shampoos and other items made by ashram workers.

One should especially visit this place on independence day, which happens to be Sri Aurobindo's birthday. There are special programmes all through this year as part of his 125th birth anniversary. You must check out the book store and the general sales counter as well. The quality of their spices, incense sticks and condiments can hardly be matched by the overadvertised Patanjali, Sri Sri and other 'godmentrepreneurs'.

Serene vibrant place. Where SILENCE is all. One can easily just be one with one's being state and enjoy peace, joy, bliss and harmony.🙏💗🙏

Sri Aurobindo Bhavan is the birthplace of Sri Aurobindo Ghosh, known as Rishi Aurobindo. He is a great philosopher and writer of British Era. Ihe house is now declared as heritage by the government. It is a very peaceful and perfect place for meditation. Library inside is also very good.

Must go place to see where Shri Aurobindo Ghosh was born here and part of his ashes are here as they are in Pondicherry and Baroda

It's the birth place of Sri Aurobindo the great Spiritual leader and revolutionary freedom fighter. Neat and clean, also houses his Samadhi, A calm serene place which gives positive vibes to its visitors is a must place to visit by all Indians. Book stores-La Mere Books/ Sabdha ( Timing 11 .00 AM to 7.00 PM ) with Sunday being holiday, dealing with various books by and on Sri Aurobindo and The Mother. Some small gift items also are sold. Besides it shop selling Dhoop, Pooja items made at Aurobindo Ashram is also there

As I am a follower if Sri Aurobindo and The Mother I intermittently visit the shrine whenever I visit Kolkata to my daughter's place.

Kolkata center of 'Aurobindo Sect' . Nice place to learn meditation etc. You can also buy articles made by the cottage industries associated with the ashram.

This place has a beautiful vibe... Calm and serene... Great place for meditation and prayer... Also there are 3/4 shops selling Auroville products which are all excellent... Also there's a book store..

If you want to get away from the traffic and noise of busy city go to this place it's simple awesome. The tranquility of the place soothes one's soul. Such a calm and beautiful place.

This place has an unsopken energy, free of external hustle bustle. Perfect place for meditation, self exploration, solitude, inner peace, self realization, healing and every other spiritual aspects know to human kind.
