Immerse
in
the
land
of
gastronomic
extravaganza
by
savouring
the
humongous
Mandi
platter
at
Mann
wa
Salwa.
Located
on
the
first
floor
of
Hasem
Market,
Nibra,
Mann
wa
Salwa
excels
in
serving
Mandi
platters
and
Arabic
delicacies
right
in
the
heart
of
Howrah,
a
stone
throw
away
from
mainland
Kolkata.
The
interior,
decked
with
bright
black
pillars
accentuated
with
golden
stripes
and
the
illuminating
rays
from
the
radiating
light
bulbs,
the
landscape
literally
transports
one
on
to
the
Arabic
lands
and
the
cult
of
the
erstwhile
Persian
food
cultures.
A
lineage
preserved
over
decades,
improvisation
has
happened
over
years,
and
with
cross-border
exchanges
and
migrations,
the
Mandi
from
Arab
was
made
to
suit
the
local
palettes,
without
however
diluting
the
main
concept
and
philosophy
behind
a
Mandi.
At
Mann
e
Salwa,
amongst
many
of
their
other
offerings,
one
must
try
the
Mixed
Mandi
consisting
of
Mutton,
Chicken,
Fish
Fry,
Seekh
Kebab
and
Afghani
Kebab.
Accompanied
with
numerous
dips
and
salaan,
the
entire
platter
is
large
enough
to
satiate
the
hunger
of
atleast
4-6
heads.
Turkish
Adana
Kebab
is
another
dish
one
must
try
here.
Originally
known
as
Kıyma
Kebabı
and
named
after
Adana,
the
fifth
largest
city
in
Turkey,
this
dish
has
hand
minced
lamb
meat
cooked
slowly
on
skewers.
Musakhan
is
another
dish,
which
truly
proves
the
mettle
of
Mann
e
Salwa.
Regarded
as
the
national
dish
of
Palestine,
enjoy
roasted
chicken
baked
with
sumac,
onions,
saffron
and
pine
nuts
over
taboon
bread
(the
word
taboon
comes
from
the
dome
shaped
clay
the
flatbread
is
cooked
in).
A
drizzle
of
olive
oil
makes
the
dish
comforting
pairing
it
wonderfully
with
the
tanginess
from
the
sumac.
While
the
black
draped
chairs
here
certainly
look
comforting,
make
yourself
cosy
by
settling
within
one
of
the
cabana.
Ideally
how
a
family
would
share
a
Mandi,
this
gives
the
opportunity
to
share
a
meal
and
also
a
moment,
making
Mann
e
Salwa
the
perfect
place
to
enjoy
a
glimpse
of
Persia
right
here
around
you.
